My go to place for paper goods. Friendly staff as well
Customer service is suburb
Cleanest store I have been in.
The store didn’t have what I needed. Most stores are under staffed not like when the stores first opened. There are always unopened boxes sitting out on the floor in almost every store that I have visited in the last 30 days.
Many people shop here as it is very convenient to people who live nearby. The employees are friendly and the store is well stocked
Good variety. Easy access. Helpful employees.
Really dirty facility. It’s super dark in there and it feels like it’s run down
The cashier (large black woman) was very unwelcoming, very rude. Then, I look at my receipt & noticed she over charged me for several items. This woman needs to be more nice & considerate to ALL customers and make sure prices on the items are acurrate.
Store is very cluttered and dirty.. no one asked if i needed help which i did nor were they friendly.. will not be returning
3. Prince Music
Address: 34825 US-280, Sylacauga, AL 35150 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
I’ve worked with several music stores throughout the state of Alabama- both as a personal musician & as a music director in the schools- & my experience with Art’s Music has been professional, helpful, & quick. Their service is wonderful, & they are knowledgeable in many school band & orchestra areas. I highly recommend using them for your instrument needs.
Great store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I always find out something new when I visit. It’s also nice that the employees are gigging musicians in the area. Would recommend.
Had what I needed. Great service.
changed to 4 stars because service isn’t as good as it used to be. It is now only ok. Was also very expensive.
Very helpful and friendly
Always have a good experience at Arts. They work well with the school programs and if they don’t have what we need they are sure to find it
Took in my guitar to get set up and to get the fret buzz handled. They told me it would take them three days. I took it to them on a Monday and I called them Thursday. They hadn’t even gotten started on it. (They said it was school season but if you tell me three days then stick by what you say) I told them I needed it by Friday morning and they told me they’d have it ready. I go that Friday morning and it was “set up” apparently. They didn’t even do my intonation and I’m pretty sure they didn’t use the string gauge I requested. To make things worse the fret buzz was horrendous. Like my guitar was unplayable, even more than before. Horrible service to say the least. I absolutely do not recommend getting your guitars set up here. Downright disgusting.
This place is a joke. I called and asked about a mellophone and was told that they had several from me to choose from. I get there and they had one that was new and one from the 70’s they tried sell me. I will stay with Bailey Brothers.
High pressure sales tactics on major purchases. Uncomfortable atmosphere throughout the store, once you state that you might not be purchasing item that day you might as well be dead to them. Stuck up to say the least. Support other businesses if at all possible.
5. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
I mean come on it’s Bailey Brothers. Excellent service better people.
Fantastic shop, willing to work with the buyer and accommodating to your needs. More selection then the “big box” and online stores but with old school brick and mortar services.
I walked thru the door and felt at home. The sales associates are seasoned musicians, so they know. They had exactly what i needed with a smile. And they were cheaper than the competition. They sell Mesa Boogie. What more can i say.
Good selection of musical equipment. Be prepared because they strictly enforce the muzzle mandate inside. They make you wear masks.
This place is awesome, need customer service? DONE! Need a repair? DONE! Need to place an order? DONE! The only thing I did not like was the lack of extended range instruments. You will not be finding fanned fret, 28 fret, tap guitar, etc. You want those go to WARR guitars or order them off of a musicians website.
It was my first time in the store and I had an excellent experience. David was very helpful and friendly as well as the other staff present. The online site lacks a lot of the guitars they have in stock because they get new guitars a lot so I would advise actually going into the store to see their wide selection.
Recently brought a used instrument to these guys to be cleaned and conditioned. They charged $230 and I’m not really sure what they did beyond $40 worth of repairing. I even priced the individual parts myself and they cost a total of $23. The instrument was very dirty and they didn’t even do a good or complete job of wiping it down. We didn’t get any paperwork explicitly stating what they were going to do so we can’t really argue the point. The inside of the instrument wasn’t even touched during cleaning because there is obvious dust and grime that was there when we gave it to these guys.
We also bought a mouthpiece for the instrument, I previously priced it at $10 online and it was $35 at this place. An outrageous markup.
All of this was after agreeing to a monthly payment for an instrument only to be informed the day before it was needed that they didn’t have any in stock so we had to scramble to find a different option. Because of this, they also didn’t send us a cleaning kit for the instrument that had been fully paid for.
I will be looking for another place for any other instrument needs.
This place is as good as, if not better than, Guitar Center. But this one man that works there is not the friendliest and makes me and my music buddy never wanna come again… I was gonna buy at least $20-$60 of stuff, and my buddy was gonna get his guitar worked on, but we decided against it after our experience today.
My friend and I were playing our guitars together at moderate volumes. No louder than the other customers that passed through. Our volume knobs probably were set around 1. This rude clerk guy came up to us and told us “turn it down, there are customers in here”. When there was maybe 1 other guy in the guitar room at most. What are we, trash? Are we not customers?
Though to be fair, there was a little kid who sat behind us who was louder than both of us combined, and he was tremolo picking the most random nonsensical annoying noise (future shredder?), but he should’ve told the kid to turn down—not us. We both turned our amps off because he was rude the last time we were in the store and we were pretty annoyed at this point. But the kid turned his amp down and continued the random picking and the dude immediately came back and said “hey, okay, turn it off, that’s enough for today” and took the guitar from the kid. The rudest music store clerk we’ve ever encountered. There’s another guy who is super nice that works there who let us turn the volume up—at least 2 or 3 times what we did today—and test every amp in the store. We bought a $2,000 setup from the nice guy in the past, but this rude guy would probably kick us out of the store before we could make a purchase. I didn’t catch his name, but he’s average height, blondish, his hair is thinning, and he had a short beard. A nicer worker told us he’s been there 3 years, though I’m not sure how he’s lasted that long. He’ll probably follow you around like you’re a thief and ask if he can help you 8 times like he did to us the last time we came in the store simply to buy a cable.
Don’t answer the phone

Friendliest staff ever along with amazing service.
Awesome
LOVED IT!
Large selection!! Beautiful instruments!!
Wonderful music store.Friendly staff. Very helpful in supplying me with what I needed from instrument to private music lessons.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
7. Morgan Creek Vineyards
Address: 181 Morgan Creek Ln, Harpersville, AL 35078 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Such a fun experience and great tasting wine and wine slushies!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
The customer service that Ms Paula gives is AMAZING!! She is very knowledgeable of the wines. Every time I come home (to Alabama) I visit Morgan Creek to purchase wine for my friends back in Georgia. They LOVE the Sweet Wines! I’ve never tried wine until today. My mom and I went to purchase wine for my friends and Ms Paula let us try the Magnolia! When I say “that wine was so GOOD “ is an understatement! Morgan Creek and Ms Paula
I would like to say Thank You for all of your GREAT work!
We love Morgan Creek. Friendly folks and outstanding southern wines!
Great little family vineyard, that holds big flavor. On the tour we got to where and how they make the delicious stuff and the tour guide was very sweet and helpful.
Wine tasting was a nice experience and helped us decide which wines we would buy. Then enjoyed a glass of wine on the front porch overlooking the vineyard.
Very informative. .. excellent selections ….happy with my purchase
Very clean place to pick blueberries!!
Picked up the muscadine wine from target( just to try something new). Personally, I didn’t like it. Tried mixing it with cranberry juice, it still had this strange, strong taste ! It tasted natural but not my cup of tea(wine). I just hate I spent so much money to have to pour it out !
I was a huge fan of the Regal Red muscadine wine a couple years ago when I first started buying it. However, the last several bottles I have purchased (from different places at different times) have tasted terribly sour and much like vinegar. I’m not sure if the recipe has changed or if every retailer purchasing this wine doesn’t know how to store it properly. I would really like to have a good bottle of Regal Red again, but I don’t believe it’s going to happen.
I bought Regal Red from the store and got home excited to taste it. Let it chill, opened it up, and was extremely upset. The wine was brownish in color and smelt like vinegar, signs that its had oxidation making it go bad. The taste was awful. A sad day putting a bottle of wine down the sink.
8. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Great place and good prices. Music lessons as well. Definitely a place to check out for any music lover of any age. Staff are highly knowledgeable.
I’ve been frequenting Birmingham-area music shops for about fifteen years now and Highland has become my go-to. Terrific place to buy music gear, particularly guitar-related stuff. Acoustics, electrics, strings, straps, picks, effects pedals, amps, everything. They also have electric basses, bass amps, PA gear, a selection of TAB and sheet music, and parts for guitars and basses. Also, it’s the only local place I know of that has a selection of vintage instruments and amps. Really cool stuff.
This is the only place that I take my guitars and amps to for repair. Though I’ve never taken lessons here and I can’t speak for all of the teachers, I do know one them and I’ve seen him teach. He’s thoughtful and patient with his beginners, and he’s a heck of a player.
The thing I like the most about this place is that most of the time you’ll be dealing directly with the owner. This is not a chain stores where you end up talking to someone who hasn’t got a clue about gear. The staff here have decades of combined experience and know their stuff.
Great guitar shop. Old school feel. They are very kind and you can get a great deal on a killer guitar, amp, or pedal. Ive bought several guitars and plan on buying many more there
Bought a guita there yeRs ago. Just visiting the store ‘off Highland’ for the first time. Nice array of guitars !
Staff very knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back Monday to see if I can trade my mandolin for an acoustic electric guitar I’ve been looking for.
Vibey little shop. Some cool vintage gear.
Twice treated very rudely by staff. I’m over it.
Very condscending and not friendly to younger people. Im not a know it all but some of the stuff the man was talking about wasnt correct. Rather go to bailey brothers theyre friendly and very nice
Let’s just say that my kind ain’t welcome
9. Nashburg Recording Studio
Address: 301 Melba Ave, Childersburg, AL 35044 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
This shop is great. Jason set up my 2006 D18 V with a new bone saddle & nut and got everything dialed in just right. She plays and sounds fantastic.
I could talk to Bob Tedrow all day. And he would listen! Better yet, I get even more enjoyment listening to him. Jason Burns is a master crasftman, and treats every customer and every guitar with individual attention.
Mr. Tedrow was very friendly and helpful! I’ve wanted a concertina for a long time and contacted him about either making or ordering one for me. He set me up with a Clover that he worked on and it’s been great! The store is really nice with lots of practice rooms and he let me use one to try out my new concertina. Mr. Tedrow was very knowledgeable and I will now consider him first when looking for new instruments or repairs.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
Good product, Good service.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
11. The Trading Post
Address: 33123 US-280, Childersburg, AL 35044 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Why be called the Trading Post Pawn when you don’t trade back things you sell even with receipts with no damage. What a waste of Letters. Might as well be called the Traders Helper ,but that name and wonderful business is already took. Needs to be called Even Odds Pawn Shop. What a waste of my time just reading the name of your business. I tell you what you railed me in like I was fish. The name of your business was the fishing pole and my Camera was the bait and you was aimed knowing just where to stand. Your better off being called a Thrift Store & be blessed with donations. Lucky you your the only pawn shop in town with the best quality I’ve seen in years.
Wouldn’t trust these folks. Sold me a used gas tube for an AR 15 for $15. I Inspect all my parts and components before installation, and thank God I did, because this one was warped causing the bolt carrier group to actually hit the gas tube when chambering a round. Very dangerous and negligent to sell faulty components especially for the Assembly of firearms.
12. Family Dollar
Address: 913 1st St SW, Childersburg, AL 35044 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Very nice people. Lots of stuff to choose from go check them out
Friendly people there
Ive always likes this store. You can get in and out fast. Nice employees. Clean store.
It’s ok just not a very good line system when it comes to cash or card
Had almost everything. Cashier’s prompt and courteous
Horrible no public bathroom but I know for a fact they have a bathroom for employee.. it’s a public place they should be required to have a public restroom like all stores…. I will never shop at this store again plus it’s a mess stack outs in floor can barely move with a buggy an had two people at register instead of getting stuff off floor just standing there talking… this is a disgrace to retail
Good visit.
6 people in line ahead of me and only one register open. Really it’s the first of the month.
13. Alicia’s Coffee Shop
Address: 42735 US-231, Vincent, AL 35178 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Friendly, nice place to stop and refuel on a bike ride
It was not as good as it used to be! The store was not as clean nor well stocked. The cashier left me standing at the register for several minutes while she wandered all over the store searching for an item for another customer…
That are mean
I went in to buy Gain laundry detergent. It was on sale with $2.00 off with a digital coupon and I also had a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon. In addition because I had just signed up to receive digital coupons I had another $1.00 off. The cashier did not know the store’s coupon policy (I did) but she refused to run the manufacturer’s coupon. If it was against the store’s policy the register would have declined the coupon but she simply refused to run the coupon!! I will not be returning to this store again
Out of stock on the shelves because they were behind on restocking merchandise. The Recall vitamins were BOGO but the ones I needed was only one of the product, but you could mix and pay for the higher price item. The Planters nuts were also BOGO but you could not do this. You had to buy to of the same. The choices were cashew halves & pieces for $5.25 or mixed nuts for $5.00. I wanted one of each expecting to pay for the higher price item and get the lowest priced free. I was told no. I didn’t want two of the same flavor.
15. Sweet Pickins’ Antique Mall
Address: 80 River Run Rd, Childersburg, AL 35044 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Great antique store. The store is divided into booths rented out to individual pickers. I’d say the store was roughly 70% occupancy with a variety of antiques and vintage electronics. Other than furniture, there as surprisingly not s lot of repeated offerings between booths and I saw a lot of unique stuff. The management does a good job keeping the place clean and the staff are friendly and accommodating.
Very clean, organized, wide variety,
Always enjoy looking here. Find something I can’t help but buy every time.
It you usual place with vendors renting booths to sell their wares.
Fun selection of junque!
Some interesting and some tired pieces. Store is neat, clean, and well organized.
I didn’t have a very good experience at Sweet Pickins this time as I usually do. For one thing I think she’s the owner did not even speak. Just took my money which I thought was 25% off I questioned her about it and she says oh that was yesterday in a mean tone. She may need to act like she enjoys being there.
Toooo high on the prices
Hmm…
Vendors were friendly but the middle aged blonde really tried to make me feel like i dont belong, being a displaced hurricane sally victim I guess she technically would be right. 1 ⭐ for inability to provide unbiased customer service.
For charging a $3 fee to use my debit card.
For not offering assistance locating, greeting or even handing me my items after id paid.
16. Harpersville
Address: Alabama , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
They are nice and will restring your guitar very fast for cheap.
Very nice people work here. Their prices are competitive and I will buy here again
Over priced. Only good if you need to grab a pack of strings or something small last minute.
Eeeeh
Excellent locally owned and operated business!
The people are not friendly, the merchandise is overpriced, some equipment is not even new (and it is damaged) although they don’t disclose that information, and getting around in a wheelchair is next to impossible. The lady at the register didn’t know anything about the equipment. It is definitely worth the drive to go somewhere else.
this place is burnt!
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
18. Old Baker Farm
Address: 1041 Farmingdale Rd, Harpersville, AL 35078 , Harpersville , Alabama , United States
Great place to get your pumpkins and Christmas trees. Friendly and helpful staff. Fun for everyone
Great family fun day with lots to do for the kids
The kids had a good time. It was decent but think maybe they should add a couple more activities.
Kids loved visiting real working farm
First time visiting, what I thought would be about an hour visit turned into 4. Lots of activities to do with the kids, get your pumpkins then carve and decorate them when you get home.
They are out of pumpkins 🙁
Pumpkins are from Walmart
no good trees and if there was there weren’t any tags on them so you couldn’t buy them.

D Geezy is a good place to Get 1$ quart Gatorades
Sucked !!!! Trashy place .stuff every where .wasnt neat .the one in shelby al was neat and didnt have stuff laying around
One cashier waited 45min to check out
It’s 7:14 AM……doors are locked! No one is here! I hope there is nothing wrong. But if this is tardiness. Definitely bad for business in small town where DG is the only store besides 1 grocery store. I have watched several people come and go in the last to minutes!
