5. La Salle Music & Sound
Address: 993 Main St #2233, East Hartford, CT 06108 , Hartford , Connecticut , United States
Small shop but has any parts you’d need are probably there and the staff were helpful.
They really helped on some amp repairs.
Everyone is helpful.
They have rare vinyl records.
First, the employees were excellent; friendly and helpful. I was extremely disappointed in the store itself. This was basically a dark, messy pawn shop, not the store I was familiar with from years ago. My only reason to go back would be to pick through dusty items to find something I might be in search of, more of an adventure.
Sent me a different accordion with no straps and a case that should of been thrown out
Was a dj for 30 years and bought and sold equipment all over Ct . I stopped in at lasalle music in east hartford it was a nightmare . Equipment from the seventies store a mess and the staff looked like a Grateful Dead fan with colored hair . So glad I moved on with my teaching at a high school
Total waste of my time

Excellent Quality of both service and instruments.
Very friendly fast and efficient service! I love shopping local
Fast and friendly service
STAY AWAY from this company! I rented a cello early 2019. We returned the cello in Aug 2019 and are still getting billed for it! I’ve called and left messages since no one picks up the phone in the Milford office where I rented and returned the instrument. No call back and monthly payments for the cello are still getting charged off my bank card. Had to file a complaint with my bank to stop payments. Terrible terrible business practice!
We rented a viola from Rayburn. The first viola wasn’t put together right (something to do with the bridge). after switching to another viola we realized the bow doesn’t quite fit with the viola.
we rented from the music store in the center and it was a great experience but pricier. though Rayburn isn’t cheap either
they will be replacing the viola once more, lets see how it goes this time…
trying to reach the store for the past 5 months. they are not responding to email or phone call. The phone service is also disconnected now.
we are left with no response and no refund.
8. RANDELL REID MASTER VIOLINS
Address: 125 Warrenton Ave, Hartford, CT 06105 , Hartford , Connecticut , United States
Randell is very fair and personable. Also very informative. The “shop” is inside a home.
Hand craftsmanship!
I’ve worked with Mr. Reid for several years now. The first time was to make repairs to the violin I’d had since my teens. He did amazing work with a rapid turnaround time. We replaced my (broken) bridge and then refurbished my fingerboard.
Unfortunately, the old girl had some problems that would be cost inefficient to fix. The peg board needed some major refurbishing, and the cost would be more than the instrument was worth.
After thinking and saving, I made an email request seeing if he had any instruments that would fit my budget. He let me make an appointment and set out several instruments for me to “try on.” I narrowed down to two, he walked me through both of them – pointing out information to help me make a decision.
His customer service is impeccable! We completed the transaction – and he even loaned me a case to bring home the new instrument. I hadn’t bought a new violin since the early 1990’s and didn’t know what to expect. He was patient and informative. Totally non-judgmental, making me feel right at home.
His work quality, customer service, knowledge, and talent are amazing. I can’t wait for my next upgrade when I can move into one of his handmade instruments. His refurbishments are excellent, but his own work is superb.
Randell Reid is a skilled luthier and and master craftsman. He is knowledgeable and passionate of his craft, but has been extremely difficult to contact. I visited his shop in order to obtain an appraisal for an instrument I was trying to purchase from the Hartt School. I had to obtain copies of the document from the selling party, the school, because he had not responded to my emails or calls for several weeks. I recommend him to anyone looking for repairs or maintenance services, but I suggest establishing a strong line of contact with him in order to avoid any unnecessary waiting.
9. Music & Arts
Address: 989 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107 , Hartford , Connecticut , United States
The sales staff is warm and friendly-very knowledgeable about their products and options. I will definitely be back!
We stopped in right before closing while walking to a restaurant, but the guy working was still super nice and offered to stay and told us to take our time. We’ll be back again, we were impressed
Customer Service. Period. Chris, Alex & staff are dedicated and attentive. Prefer this place to others because of personal feel/vibe. They are knowledgeable and not forceful. Great stuff here.
Limited retail space, but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Music lessons are offered on site.
Yeah it’s good!
I have condensed my original rant down to the following- we really like our children’s teachers- but the front desk needs saving
Imagine spending your life blowing air into a piece of metal. Unbelievable
Unprofessional!!! I scheduled for 2 week straight for an hour due to the teacher not showing up and the second week they say no she is not on the Schedule and I need to reschedule. My daughter was already there and now has to wait for half an hour to do her regular 1/2 hour session.
Being a Deaf mother of hearing 9 years old child that has no knowledge in music, I asked if this is drumsticks is good for him. This man just gave me a cold look and said I don’t know it’s fine. He was rude. Definitely not a Deaf friendly store for those Deaf parents with hearing child who wants to join the band.

Very kind and knowledgeable, highly recommend them.
Good place not to expensive great speakers.
Great store. Unique with caring staff Worth the visit
Not a new drum shop by my score. There was only a few drum sets and 1 was up in a back room. Looks like it is dying. Lots of used stuff but it is by no means what Art had in Manchester. I can’t see how they got so many 5 star ratings.

Address: 50 Main St, East Hartford, CT 06118 , Hartford , Connecticut , United States
I have spent a lot of time at this store with my kids. All three kids play different instruments, which means I’m at the music store constantly. Each time I go in, I am more impressed than that last. The staff are courteous, and very helpful. They are informative, and help guide me to the best option, yet never pushy on sales. They are very knowledgeable. I can’t say enough nice things about this store. I am thoroughly impressed.
Very nice and knowledgeable staff. They always hook me up with the best equipment. Deffinatley my go to store for anything music related.
Julia is a fantastic brass teacher.
Cool place, very expensive
Good selection and price
This store was not respectful of my time or my commitment, and I cannot recommend this business to others. As busy professional with children making the commitment to return to regular practice was a significant dedication of my time. After discussions with the staff at the store we found a time and an instructor who would work for me, and with my schedule. At my first lesson the instructor was surprised to see me (although my name was on his list) and I said “I didn’t know a new student was starting today.” and “I don’t really play Bass that much…”. After a lackluster lesson which I was willing to write off as a miscommunication, I returned a week later only to find that the instructor had scheduled over my time with a different student. The staff confirmed I was on the schedule for the day. I promptly asked for my money back, including the new student fee. The manager kindly returned it, but that was the ONLY redeeming thing about my experience. All in all, this wasted about 2 hours of my life.
I went to the store 7:45 pm because I need to rent an instrument. I’ve been waiting because the employee was helping another customer. Then, when it was my turn he said : I can’t help you because we close at 8 come back tomorrow. While I was waiting I saw another employee he just looking at us and he didn’t of help us.The worst customer service I ever experienced.
I had been taking lessons at this location since March 2019. One of their instructors stopped teaching in June 2019 and took the summer months off. The store called me in August to say the instructor was not returning in the Fall and my account would be closed but if I wanted to begin with a new instructor I could. To my surprise upon starting with the new instructor, my account incurred a new student fee of $30 which is out of order since I am a continuing student; I asked the store to provide a credit and they recently did so. The new student fee is inappropriate due to no fault of mine.
15. Madsci Sound Labs
Address: 99 Huntington St, Hartford, CT 06105 , Hartford , Connecticut , United States
After at least 15 years of researching and searching for the right Steinway, Shawn found the one for me – a 1921 Hamburg Model O!
It couldn’t possibly be any better and it takes my breath away. The silky smooth action, the tone, clarity, brightness and sheer beauty of this one of a kind Steinway is simply stunning! Shawn and his staff’s meticulous and artful craftsmanship is unmatched. I just can’t stay away from this piano. It’s the nicest thing I’ve ever owned. Shawn seems almost as excited as I am and it’s obvious he loves the restoration process. I would recommend him to anyone looking for their own “right” piano.
Great pianos and knowledgeable staff.
I recently called Shawn at Shawn’s piano to have my piano removed from my home and have it recycled or donated. I called or emailed several other places prior, and none of them had gotten back to me. Shawn called me personally right away, and I could tell that he truly cared about pianos and the positive things that they can add to the lives they touch. Shawn quoted me a fair price, came to get my piano in a timely manner, and even let me know that he had found a home for my piano. I would highly recommend Shawn’s piano. He fills a well needed service in the music world.
Not for students. Too expensive. Nontheless, nice attentive staff.
