Typical Walmart, not exactly a ‘supercenter’, but large enough for Rochelle
Produce could be better
Not very clean or organized. No customer service. Associates act like they are unhappy with their job.
Hate walmart but sometimes I guess have to do what have to do cause there running maand pop stores out.
Everything is self checkout I hate that almost as much as computerized technical support waited in line for 25 minutes to buy one item won’t go back if I don’t have to
3. Liquor ‘n’ Wine
Address: 1140 N 7th St, Rochelle, IL 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Lots of fun celebrating 2-22-22 Twosday. We enjoy L&W but the pop up events are very fun
I visit here every time I’m in Rochelle IL! They’ve also added a cigar bar.
Nice store, nice staff, limited selection of beer.
Huge selection
It sucked
The male cashier was either drunk, on drugs, or something was wrong with him. He said one of my friends was trying to take a picture of him, but she said the pizza in the car smells good. We paid and left because he was creeping us out.
The people who work here are rude! The beer and liquor selection is a joke and they always jack up the prices. Spend a little money on gasoline and go to DeKalb or Rockford for places with better selection and employees that aren’t rude. I guess because they are one of few places to get booze in Rochelle, they think they can act anyway they want. Forget it, they have lost a customer for life.
4. R.P. Home & Harvest of Rochelle
Address: 1240 N 7th St, Rochelle, IL 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Love Big R. Wish there was more of them. Gives me the feeling of the older Farm and Fleet.
Fast courteous service
It is awesome that’s it.
Bless the employees who work here
Ok
Still growing and settling so benefit of the doubt, but I do assume that it will have more products and placement. I would love to see more lumber and or house rebuild items
Ok place for outdoors supplies but over prized
No stock
Waited in line for 10 minutes for their computer to process one person’s order open got another register I told me I couldn’t use cash there get back in line for the register that was for cash I would have waited for 10 customers bad experience
5. Fat Cat Custom Guitars & Repair
Address: 57 Douglas Ave, Elgin, IL 60120 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Scott refretted my ’91 Les Paul. The work is amazing. When I dropped off my guitar, Scott patiently presented me with a myriad of fret options. After talking to Scoot, I left the shop cautiously optimistic. In less than a week I got my no. 1 guitar back better than ever. Highly recommended. Thanks!
Brought my tele in for a much needed refret and Scott took the time to go over my options and we settled on the size of wire and went with stainless. When I got the guitar back I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship. It plays so much better and no dead spots. The intonation was as good as you can get on a three saddle tele. Highly recommended!
Stellar service!
6. Melody Mart USA
Address: 18062 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Friendly and helpful staff very knowledgeable prices are competitive. Love them been going to this store for 2 generations. My wife took lessons here and now our kids do as well. Friendly family atmosphere where they encourage every to achieve greatness.
It’s a good place to get your kids to start learning how to play an instrument.
Very rude staff. I approached the counter and asked if I could complete the online registration for music lessons in person. The staff member spoke very rudely to me. When I notified this person of his unprofessional attitude, he told me I had “interrupted [him] while he was doing something important for a customer”. I told him he was so rude that I probably wouldn’t even sign up for the lessons. He responded “fine” and took the paper with my information on it, balled it up and threw it down onto the floor directly in front of me before turning his back to me while I was speaking. Meanwhile, a second staff member stood by watching and smiling. If you enjoy being disrespected, this place will be perfect for you.
** Thank you for your response, Melody Mart. There is no misunderstanding. Don’t backpedal now, keep your same energy as you displayed in person. There were NO customers at the counter and you asked “How may I help you?”. Your unprofessional behavior from that moment forward was totally inappropriate and out of proportion for the situation. Not sure how you can justify throwing a customer’s information onto the floor. Keep your services. I’ll take my business elsewhere.
Parking is terrible. Some of the instructors are not very good, but a few are..kinds a gamble for your money..no refunds on missed lessons…instructors and staff will tell you anything to get your money oh did o mention terrible parking …make sure you have your walking shoes on
7. Axes Music Group
Address: 19715 South La Grange Road Suite 3, Mokena, IL 60448 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
The only negative thing I have to say isn’t their fault. It’s Crook County taxes I messaged the store on Instagram looking for a cases for the Breedlove Pursuit Exotic Concert. Pat responded within 2 hours, called the store & he went and tested a case with the Pursuit & it fit. It’s a dread case by Gator. The price is the same everywhere, so the “cheaper online” schtick seems to keep disappearing these days. When I went to pick it up, Pat chatted up my dad & I was super friendly & knowledgeable. He guitar geeked a bit & I enjoyed that. I know when it is time for an electric guitar upgrade, they will be my 1st choice out in the western burbs.
Best music shop in the burbs
Just like the name says always a good time, great selection of equipment ,& great staff
Really great place to find top notch guitars and amplifiers. They sell guitar parts, amps, lights, basses and acoustic guitars. And offer guitar lessons
This is not a music store it’s a guitar store
The man I talked with there was very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable.
Not friendly. First guitar store I left from offended. Guitar Center has better prices and service.
Update:
We were asking if you a did trade in so you knew we were serious. It is not the policy it was the way were approached. He should not have put his foot on an amp but he did not see the sign. Either way it is what it is.
Thanks.

DO NOT GO TO THIS WEBSITE AND BUY STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had three guitars strung up with new strings before I moved from IL, one of them was a Yamaha classical guitar. I was having all my stuff put in a moving container right after that so I did not get a chance to tune them up for a while. Upon starting to tune up my Yamaha after I was settled I found that the high E string was not put on correctly, on the tuning peg and on the bridge on the box of the guitar. I found when applying tension on the string to tune it up, first it was slipping on the peg then it popped through the bridge hole. It turns out there was only one small knot made at the bottom of the string. For so called professionals, they don’t even know how to string up a classical guitar correctly. I should have done it myself in the first place, however I was so busy preparing to move I thought I would let them do it. Waste of money.
9. Austin’s Violin Shop
Address: 316 Wheeler Rd, Sugar Grove, IL 60554 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Love Austin’s! They are so professional and knowledgeable. Just bought my daughter her first violin and they ordered her case because they didn’t have the color she wanted! And they are going to deliver it right to her school! Highly recommend if you are looking for any instrument.
Best music shop close to yorkville
I just spent a few hours here trying out different bass pickups. I had the Fishman BP100 and tested out the Full Circle and the Realist pickups. Joel and the luthier were so helpful, and we were surprised by the results. It’s wonderful to have such a great resource for bass players this far from the city of Chicago. This is my new home base! The gardens are very pretty, too.
10. Redbox
Address: 1080 N 7th St, Rochelle, IL 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Awesome music store great staff and very knowledge. Place best for repair work on all instruments
Nice people and friendly
A friend of mine is a big-time sound guy in the Chicago area. He does sound for major concerts and events. So when my Fender ’57 Reissue Twin Amp (grossly overpriced tweedy Custom Shop model) mysteriously died on me, I called him to ask where I should take it. I expected he’d recommend some obscure pro equipment repair place at 34th and Kedzie in Chicago or something. To my complete surprise he said take it to Libertyville Music. He said he’s taken lots of stuff here, and had great experiences. So I did, and was hit with two more surprises. First, they said they would run a quick diagnostic and let me know in a day. Not 2 weeks like at Guitar Center. Second, when I went to pick it up, I was informed that the problem was just a simple thing…so he didn’t charge me! No “inspection fee” (even though he had had to open the amp up), and no repair charge. I was halfway home, before I realized I hadn’t paid anything. This is not imply that they do free repairs. But I do think this speaks to their integrity and the way they do business. I would have paid for the inspection, and if they been less ethical, they certainly could have made up some bull about a “transformer resistor blah blah overload” and charged me big bucks for the repair. This is a small shop compared to the big box stores, but their service demonstrates just how important it is to have a shop like this around.
Nice staff, low selection.
Small shop with friendly, expert staff
If they do not have it in stock, they will order it for you. Helpful staff.
Prices are extremely unreasonable not to mention the skinny kid behind the counter called me man so many times I thought I was in a Cheech and Chong movie.
I’ve lived in Libertyville for fifteen years and I have really tried to support them. I teach band locally and have a busy professional performing schedule and would love to have a local business that I and my students could use for guitar and band instrument repair, and to buy supplies and equipment. My experience with them has been the worst every time I’ve been in. Their store stock is woeful. Twice I have left nice guitars with them to be set up. The first time I couldn’t tell that any work had been done, but there were little dents on the back of the neck. The next time (Iknow: why?) they just sat in the store for three weeks while I waited. Then when I picked them up (no work was ever done) there were marks all over the cases, as if they had been tossed around. They are rude, unprofessional and totally disorganized. Students I’ve taught who took lessons there (not at my suggestion) learned nothing. Just another jive guitar store run by morons.
13. Hidden Hit Studios

14. Hillcrest
Address: Illinois 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Food is usually fresh but always very busy, long wait times
Staff isnt the friendliest. First time I went the food was a little cold. The second time I went, the food was fresh and very hot.
Bathroom bad
Used the kiosk to order. Took 15 min. 15 min is more like eternity at this place. Also forgot our drink I had to walk behind the counter myself since I wasn’t being helped. Also bathrooms are gross. Spend the extra dollar or two and go to Culver’s.
Morning service is very slow, consistent
Order got messed up, ordered it to eat in and it took 16 minutes for our food to be done, finally went up to get it and they had forgotten to bring it to the table.
16. Music & Arts
Address: 1476 E Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60173 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
I found a guitar online but it showed in stock locally so I was able to put my hands on it before deciding. Staff was very accommodating. First time in and it was a great experience.
Amazing teachers & extremely helpful staff. My both kids are so happy to be here. Special thanks to Mr. Ross, Mr. Eric, Mr. Nate & Mr. Max
Good customer service
Do you guys also have arranger keyboards?
Their phone and chat customer support service is terrible. If you need help with orders or billing you are out of luck.
Brought my Horn in for a small valve string that came undon. Cost me about $171! DONT COME HERE! very overpriced for a basic service.
17. Tobias Music
Address: 5013 Fairview Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Can’t say enough about this place. White-glove service, very friendly and knowledgeable, everything they have is top-of-the-line.
I recently purchased an Eastman 335 style electric here and it blows away any actual 335 I’ve ever played 1. because it’s well made and 2. because the setup done in-house is immaculate. They threw in a humidifier and all.
All around the best customer experience at any guitar shop I’ve ever been to.
I recently purchased a 2018 Custom Shop Taylor, and I couldn’t be happier! Gorgeous guitar! The customer service is top-notch! Thank you Tobias family for a wonderful experience!
I am a collector of many years – had my first experience with Tobias Music this week. They were very responsive and concerned about my needs. They communicated well and processed my order fast. I’ll be doing business with them again!
***EDIT***
So, I am knocking down my review from five stars to three; due to my most recent experience a couple months after the first one. So I reached backout to buy another guitar (place order) as I really wanted an AD22e or another model I can’t remember, but after confirming they could place the order I let them know that I wanted the AD22e and to provide me the full price so we could close the deal and they went silent, mind you I didn’t even get a copy of the receipt from my AD27e that never came which I had also requested from the last conversation.
I did finally get my guitar ordered but I had a national retailer place the order. I was disappointed I didn’t hear back from Tobias Music about completing the purchase and obtaining a copy of the receipt for my AD27e that never came.
** original **
Just bought an AD27e (Taylor) from them after finding it for sale online. it was a great buying experience. I’m a lefty, buying guitars online is the norm, and most of the time guitars I buy take a day or two to pack and ship. we had a few emails back and forth and they were quick to respond and very professional. These guys had it packed and shipped the same day, and I didn’t place my order until after lunch; that’s service.
They also took the time to dial the guitar in; it came with the action set and was tuned ready to play out of the box. Paul did a great job and really made this buying experience easy, and hassle free. I’ll have to check back often to see what other lefty guitar they get in. If I have the chance, I will buy from them again.
They are more of a acoustic guitar place not really a place for bass players .
18. McDonald’s
Address: 1120 N 7th St, Rochelle, IL 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
James and his crew doing wonderful job in this location in first time I got fresh and delicious fries thank you please keep that positive attitudes go Mc family
Fast service
Food was good & great price with app deals!
No heating in the kids play area…
My first time there & the wait was beyond ridiculous. I guess they were understaffed. But the food was fresh & delicious. The lady at the 2nd window was definitely overwhelmed, but extremely sweet & professional.
I asked for hot sauce and got pancake syrup instead. I expect nothing more and I’m never disappointed.
Ordered off of the app and they forgot half of my food. Tried to call the store to get a refund on the food I did not receive nobody would answer the phone couldn’t request a refund through the app. I have a sick kid I’m not dragging him out again to go back and fix their mistake. The least they could do was answer the phone I got completely ripped off.
If you work at nights and go here for your lunch break it takes 20 minutes to get your order. Found out why when i pulled up to the window looked in and they were dancing goofing off. I take my lunch to work now don’t have time for that nonsense.
The door says the drive thru is open 24 hours a day. The website says the same. There are even people inside that answered the box when I pulled up. Well, after I sat here for 5 mins. They told me they are closed even though they are there. Its 04:03 am. They told me to come back at 05:00 am and they might be open. This is typical. Whenever I need to get an early breakfast this McDonalds has some kind of excuse. I will be at a McDonalds at 5am but it won’t be this one.
19. Down Home Guitars
Address: 11 S White St, Frankfort, IL 60423 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Very friendly and knowledgeable. They restrung my 6 string banjo to Nashville tuning while I waited.
Down Home Guitars is an excellent place to purchase an instrument – the walls are filled with guitars, banjos, mandolins, etc. – all top quality, from starter models to the premier collectables. I have performed in the concert room numerous times and the space provides an excellent listening opportunity for any type of music. All of this in addition to the fact that Steve and his staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about instruments and sound – and they offer lessons on most string instruments. I feel fortunate to have such a top quality store so close to my home – they always have whatever musical supplies I need.
Wonderful to have a store of this quality close to home. They offer so much more than a great selection of acoustic stringed instruments; including lessons, workshops, jams, and of course the annual bluegrass festival in the summer. Especially like their great concerts by local and nationally known musicians in a small setting with no bad seats.
The store carries beautiful high-end acoustic instruments. They also hold some impressive seminars and concerts. If you want the very best and can spend 6K on a guitar then this store may be for you. With a larger wallet, perhaps you will receive better treatment than I did. The red-haired owner of this store is probably the rudest retail store owner I have ever experienced. Of course, I wasn’t there to spend thousands of dollars. I simply went there to buy picks, strings, tab books, and to explore and discuss instruments with other music lovers. My initial visits were often greeted by cold, stiff, and awkward personalities. After multiple visits, I expected things would warm up, and while some staff were friendly, it was never a comfortable experience. This was especially true whenever the owner was present. Pompous and arrogant seem apt descriptions, and small talk and small wallets are beneath him.
20. Love’s Travel Stop
Address: 400 S Steward Rd, Rochelle, IL 61068 , Hillcrest , Illinois , United States
Very clean, right off the highway. Very nice staff.
Love’s travel store is great. No issues there. Hardee’s on the other hand that’s connected to loves. Is less than desirable. I spent $15 for my meal alone was the driest hamburger I possibly ever had in my life I was highly upset then when I tried to call back no answer. When in the next morning and there’s no manager available. I will not be going back to Hardee’s
Fairly new Loves location. Lots of diesel fuel islands and very spacious lot. Only complaint is, the buckets for the window cleaner at the diesel fuel islands never have any cleaner or detergent in them.. they only fill them with water and it’s always dirty & muddy water that rarely seems to get replaced very often.
Experience fine, food not so much. Ham had absolutely no flavor and was lukewarm, but totally crumbled and fell apart. Curly fries were cold, regular fries nice and hot. The burger on the mushroom and swiss didn’t even look like hamburger and was lukewarm as well. Chicken tenders were warm, but still good.
Ran into a rude lady behind the counter at loves travel stop that is yelling at people who are not wearing mask when they purchase something. So listen, anyone traveling or living in Illinois, if you plan on visiting any businesses or shop, customer must wear a mask when entering in public buildings until a vaccine is made. Idc what your views are lady, this was just announced today and you should not be yelling at paying customers. Last time I checked you were an employee, not the owner of loves. Just letting everyone know so you don’t get yelled at in public lol
Dirty truck stop
Customer service: just don’t goo in there happy the women find reasons to be rude.
