i had an issue about paying extra for financing but the owner Jo called me to make it right. just ask about the interest free financing before purchasing. staff is friendly but financing was a different story
My son damaged his saxophone 2 days before his Allstate Audition. How that happened is another story but I called Jackson music to see when it could be repaired. They told me it could take 2 to 3 days. I came the next morning and Doug, their repair guy, was gracious enough to come give it a quick evaluation on the spot. Although he was extremely busy between repairs for two different stores he told me he could fix it that same day. True to his word it was restored by end of day. Appreciate him going above and beyond!! This JM store has always provided great service to us!
First time customer and will definitely be going back for all my future purchases and needs! I Went in for trumpet repair for my daughters trumpet and they were able to help me right away and fix it for me. I normally went to a closer music store for all my needs but not anymore. Glad I found this store !
Very friendly staff. They make you understand about the different instruments if you have no knowledge about it.
I come here for instrument repairs. I’m a professional musician that need his instrument asap. Mark at this location always fixes my sax perfectly. I’m going for a repad in the next two weeks
They have fair prices and a mini guitar-center-like selection of guitars. My only complaint is I felt pushed to make a sale when I looked at guitars.
If I could give zero or lower stars I would. My son’s saxophone gave him problems from the start. I was told on 4 occasions to bring it in. Today Brandon told me he would finally be in, he wasn’t. When I didn’t understand the question to do you have others I could look at, he responded “I have two eyes”. Rude beyond belief! Never again Jackson Music and I’ll make sure to share this with the band families at all the schools I work with as an administrator. Horrible customer service! UPDATE: The nice woman owner called and apologized. I forgive her and believe she doesn’t condone that type behavior.
Wasn’t treated with any negativity the employee that helped me was in fact polite. The other one just stared me down the whole time and didn’t say a word.. I see a lot of complaints of employees not giving customers the space to browse and read the owners reply to one saying “Sorry it’s called great customer service.” I’ve spent years in customer service and this was not anywhere close to greatcustomer service. The man was super polite and cool but it was as if they had no one to talk to in days and kept picking up guitars and trying to make me play them while he’s staring at me.. then finally get to “I’m gonna browse and let you know if I have any questions” 10 seconds later I’m asked about my personal travels wanting to know my life story.. Like I said all positive and I don’t mind conversating but I couldn’t even focus to pick out a guitar for myself even when I tried. I just felt like if I had some space to breathe You’d have my business and not an attempt at friendship.I liked the selection and prices but I didn’t want to be in there anymore so I left and probably won’t be back.
We just went to this place to rent a student flute for my daughter’s first year in band. My first red flag should have been that they told me they, “weren’t sure” if they would rent an instrument for fifth grade. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Mind you- the only reason we went to the store in the first place is because the school gave us a flyer advertising their rental options. We sat and waited for them to “process and pull” the rental and print my rental agreement. A different person than I initially spoke with came out and told me that they could not approve me for the rental. I’d say that their standards are pretty stringent. I have a great salary job on my application. I can get approval for a credit card, a car note, but not a student flute? They collect your card and account info. How high risk can it be considering that they can withdraw my 30 bucks every month? I told the man “You know what? That’s ok, I can have my mom come up here and do it, she has great credit.” He then proceeded to tell me that he will not allow grandparents the rent instruments, only parents. Uh…What?? What difference does it make? What about the kids whose guardian is not their parent? It’s just a bit much for a 30 dollar a month commitment and a 400 dollar instrument. He told me of their rent to purchase option. You end up paying 850 bucks for an instrument that retails half of that and pay more than the instrument is actually worth in a down payment. No thanks. He also offered to sell us one for 250. For a first year music student who may end up not liking band? I think not. We took our business to New School of Music 5 minutes down the road and it was quick, easy, and actually more affordable. My husband is always in the market for another guitar (purchase not rent) and we will be getting guitar lessons for my middle child. We definitely not be purchasing any of our instruments or lessons from Jackson’s.

Lee is a great musician, and his studio in Maysville is well equipped and inviting, kind of homey. It’s one of my favorite places to record.
5. Megatone Music
Address: 44b Town Sq, Blairsville, GA 30512 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The place was nice and clean, and had a decent selection of instruments. A variety of electric and acoustic guitars, 12 string, banjo, dobro, mini, good amplifier selection. New and used equipment, parts, accessories. I went in to make some time while my wife was getting coffee around the corner and walked out with an amplifier. Would come again if I am in the area.
Gret place and awesome people!
Very nice shop. Very helpful. Appeared to have a nice selection of instruments and accessories
Dealt with these people on reverb. They ignored my messages, refused a refund twice, once before it had shipped out because the dimensions weren’t right to fit on my guitar. Then after no response for months, I posted on their facebook and they deleted my post. These people are scammers and deceivers. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
Staff isn’t honest
Scammers. Associate Darryl is a nasty individual and scams his customers. Stay away from this business.
6. All Star Music Center
Address: 3981 Athens Hwy, Loganville, GA 30052 , Homer , Georgia , United States
All Star Music has great owners who operate the business.
The owner is the best Guitar tech around. Very knowledgeable and also an awesome musician. They offers music lessons with excellent experienced teachers. They sale Vintage guitars and equipment as well as new, reasonably priced, guitars that sound better than their reasonable price. They also sale and lease band equipment for the local schools in the surrounding area.
You will always get good advise from the professional staff and they have all the small stuff you need for your existing gear needs as well!
Thank you,
Greg Theisen
The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable. We purchased a used clarinet from All Star Music for a little less than what I was going to cost to rent one from the store that the middle school provided to us. ASM said that if we ever wanted to sell it to let them know and they would sell it for us and we would get 70% of the sale… This is an awesome deal because often beginners in middle school change their minds about what they want to play or even if they want to play at all. By purchasing here we won’t be out as much as we would have been if we rented.
John has been involved in music his entire life. John is music. So any questions you have or help you may need, John will go beyond what you get at any other music store.
Guy running the store was very helpful and knowlegable.
Very friendly. Awesome teachers.
Very friendly place, with knowledgeable people, but the used gear is over priced. Perhaps they like their equipment and instruments like their wine: aged, dry, and of course with heavy wear and tear. They offer a number of new products as well, lessons, and great repair jobs!
Place needs to just close! doubt me, go see what I’m talking about.
Literally 4:08pm on a Saturday I show up. They were not open. Sign on the door says 10am-6pm. Very disappointed.
I’ve been here 3 times during store hours. nobody at the store go to another shop.
7. Town Center Music
Address: 4072 Suwanee Dam Rd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Homer , Georgia , United States
My first time visiting here and was blown away at the quality of guitars they had. I brought my Yamaha acoustic I purchased from somewhere else here to get a set up done and they have great pricing and turn around time compared to other places I called. Also explained in great detail what needed to be done and what needed to be adjusted and why.
I wish I went here to make my guitar purchase, the quality of each guitar they have on display is beyond anything I’ve seen at other guitar shops. They set up each guitar before selling it and that right there just made me a lifetime customer. They really care about the quality of the instrument you’re investing in and that means a lot to me.
Aaron was very knowledgeable and explained to me a lot about the electric guitars that I had no idea about and let me play my first ever electric and I fell in love with it. I left out of there with a huge smile on my face after playing their guitars and speaking with them. I am going to be beating myself up for a long time for not coming here for my first guitar purchase.
I really regret that I didn’t know about them until now. If I had known earlier, I would have bought Musical Instruments from them to support local businesses. They are really willing to help me .I will come next time for my kids instrument, also I know they have music lessons.
We’ve had nothing but good service and professional lessons here for 3 years. We love our local music shop! All the instructors are great but our experience with Greg has been wonderful.
Good
Taught my kids to play guitar
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Wow. Just called Town Center Music. Someone answered. I started asking about a guitar I’m looking for and got cut off mid-sentence by the guy talking loudly to a co-worker. When he stopped talking I said hello? Hello? Nothing. A few seconds later he hangs up.
Store is dirty poor selection not real big
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
8. Homer

9. Music Go Round – Atlanta/Duluth, GA
Address: 3675 Satellite Blvd # 100, Duluth, GA 30096 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Great place to go for awesome equipment. You never know what you will find. Great customer service and they buy used equipment. Definitely check this music store out!
Good prices, and every once in a while, you stumble across that hidden gem!!!!
You need to visit!! They have lots of great used guitars, basses, amps, drums, pedals… all of it! Good prices, fair trade in value if you need quick cash.
Professional service, and a lot of equipment in stock.
very good thank you Deo help me and a prompt time nice to hear the music though and have a Merry Christmas to you all and I knew you
Solo usato e vintage
No encontre lo que necesitaba
Dusty and disorganized. No temperature room like Guitar Center.
Cool if you’re looking for music gear but terrible place to sell, all these guys do is low ball you and try to make as much profit on your gear as possible. Would give a better review if your employees weren’t so stuck up. They’ll be happy to take your money though anytime.
10. Musician’s Warehouse
Address: 245 N Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30601 , Homer , Georgia , United States
What more can you say….Awesome prices, selection and service. I’ve bought a few things big and small and have never encountered any issues with anything. I like the fact it’s family run and it’s not like the corporate franchise music stores. BIG ED ROCKS!
Rick and Ian were very knowledgeable and helpful. Rick especially helped me out a lot. If you’re looking for a guitar, Rick is the guy for you. He was very patient with me and answered all my questions. It was my first guitar and I have very little knowledge about them and Rick helped me a ton throughout the whole process. Definitely recommend this shop for all your musical needs!
Love MW. The people are interested in helping me get exactly what I need, at a decent price.
Besides, I’d rather support local, than big corporate.
Could be a little more organized. Drum area needs more open space. And more displayed of items. Seems pretty congested.
Check out the new location!
Very nice store but not a great variety of guitars
Poor selection. If you like grandpa guitars this is the place. Wouldnt recomend to any modern guitar players.
Really wanted to like this company. I was cheated and conned, and after a week with zero communication I contacted them. They fumbled around for another day or two then stated they couldn’t find the item. I was left empty handed and confused. No attempt at finding the item or ordering another. Nothing. Zip. C’mon guys!
Dude I’m not sure what happened. The first floor is desolate (empty for everybody that’s currently reading this while dunk). I understand social distancing, but I’m I am attending Warehouse, I do not care about the current situation, I’m here to rave. Open the first floor for a mosh pit.
11. Blue Ridge Music
Address: 629 Duggan Hill Dr, Clayton, GA 30525 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. Spent ample time showing me guitars and answering questions and helped me pick out my next guitar
Very helpful owners!
Such a cool music shop and teaching academy. Great staff and good prices.
Odd hours for a store, most people are working during the time they are open. But good quality items can be found inside. Just wish they’d be open when I could get to them for a purchase.
Cool laid back store. They focus on acoustic instruments, but also have a few electrics, keyboards, pa gear, etc. Mostly focused on affordable instruments. Also they have lessons there. I recommend stopping in if you’re in the area! (I was on vacation from Atlanta).
Great experience but i needed something very specific. The guys working however were of great help and very easy to speak with
Not very friendly or concerned with helping. Pretty indifferent
The store is run down and filthy. The lady working had zero product knowledge. I had visited before and it was organized….that was years ago. It’s a mess now, the woman working didn’t even get up from the dirty hobo couch to see if I needed assistance, she should be dusting.
It has the “creepy pawn shop” feel about the place. I was eager to leave.
12. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Great little shop! Everyone I have talked to is eager to help. If they don’t have the answer, they know who does. I have taken guitar lessons from Chris Martin for about 6 months and he has been awesome.
Best group of talented musicians and teachers. Reasonably priced instruments. Lay away is available.
Very responsive to our specific needs, assisted with research and made great suggestions
Quick. Super helpful. Plenty of staff.
Great staff- very friendly. Good selection of acoustic guitar strings. I have worked with Grayson several times for string replacement, set-up, fret cleaning and conditioning for an old Ovation Balladeer, and she sounds and plays better than ever!
Great music store! The prices are pretty high, but they are very helpful.
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
13. Music Authority Inc
Address: 123 Merchants Square, Cumming, GA 30040 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Music Authority is a cool music store and place for lessons!!!!
Great team over at Music Authority. They do great work on set ups and repairs as well. Saved me some money identifying an issue on a used acoustic I was about to buy privately that would have cost me hundreds down the line. Quick turn around on set ups and repairs. Taylor wall is something to marvel at.
Brooke Sutton is an awesome piano teacher. We have been with her for several months and my 5th grader is doing amazing!! Thankful for this program and Brooke!!
Mr.Mark is my son’s Piano teacher and my son enjoys his piano lessons.
My 10 yr old daughter and I take piano lessons at Music Authority. Our instructor, Brooke, along with a lot of practice, has taken us from zero musical experience to reading and playing the piano in a few short months.
We enjoy the lessons each week and we learn something at each one. Our instructor is a gifted teacher. She changes up the lesson plans so throughout our lsns, and at home practice, we learn music theory, practice skills exercises, and learn songs. It pushes us to go further but doesn’t overwhelm.
If your looking to learn an instrument or two, this is a good place to start. Music camps and performances are offered as well. You can get as involved as you want.
Went in for a purchase. Didn’t end up buying, but one of the owners assisted me and had a lot of knowledge to offer. People came in and out for lessons and they were all treated very well… you can see the passion. The store could use a bit of updating, which is the primary reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
If you can be sure you never can miss a lesson even with 24 hour notice for any reason than its place for you. But if you are a human like everyone else than you will be responsible to pay for lessons that been cancelled even with 24 hour notice no matter what. I never had to experience something like that before with all of my 3 kids activities. Stay away from this place!
I just had a horrible experience with this place today. They make you pay full monthly tuition in advance but keeps canceling the classes on a very short notice. And then its your responsibility to keep track of those canceled classes so it can be adjusted next month, let alone expect any apologies from them. My kids used to go there for guitar and piano lessons past few months but today I canceled with them. They cheated me when they refused to adjust the classes they canceled last month. I’m going to call my credit card company to revoke their payment. THIS PLACE IS A BIG FRAUD. BEWARE OF THEM AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Music Authority’s website says they offer services including instrument repairs, however, this is only a half truth. When we took our daughters clarinet here for service/repair, we were told they don’t work on band instruments, they only work on guitars. Very frustrated with these guys after this interaction. I am not likely to return to Music Authority for any of my musical needs.
14. Music & Arts
Address: 1905 Scenic Hwy N Suite 610, Snellville, GA 30078 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Store manager and Austin today were very helpful and professional.
Nice people very professional, ol dude helped me fine some pirated music
Great service
This place covers most of the variety of things you would look for in a music or audio equipment store
It was nice and had a relaxing vibe .
Staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable over the years my kids have been in band and orchestra. This is my go to place out of area music stores.
placed an order over a month ago for an instrument rental, paid 10$ for 2 day shipping, still have not received the instrument and have received no update as to where it is. my order was not even processed until after i had called to ask about it.
I go to music and arts every sunday
Happened to be on that side of town and remembered that I needed a new mouthpiece for my trumpet went in to check pricing the price for their cheapest mouthpiece $40 can purchase online for $25 for two so therefore I did not make the purchase the prices of all the instruments seem very high I doubt that I would return to the store too high in for me
15. Brickstore Antiques
Address: 104 Oak Dr, Maysville, GA 30558 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Stopped in with my husband to drop of his guitar for a set-up. Katie was super helpful, answered all of his questions and took the time to let him demo an amp. She was amazingly friendly and excited to be taking about guitars, great experience!
Amazing staff! The facility is very nice as well. I am so glad that there’s a place that repairs clarinets! Their staff is very knowledgeable about all band instruments. They have everything related to band instruments, as well as huge collection of guitars!
17. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 30983 US-441, Commerce, GA 30529 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Needed some things for myself found everything I needed
Always got what my grandbaby wants
I found the hot glue gun and the soldering iron I needed. Staff was helpful.
They are all almost always having a bad day standing around gossiping about something or someone & just over all don’t want to be bothered… when is Walmart going back to 24/7. So that those of us that like & need night hours to do. Can get back in our normalish routine & get our shopping out of the way & without everyone standing around chit chatting chatting ?
Not my favorite Walmart,selection sux.
This place sucks 2 registers open plenty of employees walking around doing NOTHING typical Wal-Mart
There’s never what you need……..
I dislike walmart and everything it stands for. Zero customer service
18. JAWS GUITARS
Address: 111 Mountain Vista Blvd #135, Canton, GA 30115 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Brought two acoustic guitars in for setups to improve the action and playability. Jim does amazing work! Now both of these guitars play beautifully! His listens to what you need and really delivers, plus you get quick turn around. I whole heartedly recommend JAWS GUITARS to anyone needing new gear or improvements to your current instrument.
Awesome shop! Huge inventory! Guitar repair! The owner Jim knows virtually everything and can play the heck out of the guitar.
Stopped by with my wife and son who is interested in playing a bass guitar. We were greeted by Jim (owner) and he immediately directed my son to go and play a bass guitar while my wife and I talked with Jim. He was very professional and it did not seem like we were talking to a car salesman. He was very informative and made us feel very comfortable, we decided to buy the guitar and felt the price was great. I would recommend JAWS for all your musical needs. Thanks Jim….
Knowledgeable, friendly owner. Cozy shop and nice environment. Now, if I could just magically learn how to play…..I’d give it one more star….
support your local music stores. professional repairs and great service. These guys give fair prices on trade-ins as well.
Great sound equipment at reasonable prices compared to the big box music stores. The gentleman, who I assumed was the owner, was very knowledgeable about everything musical.
I needed a setup for my Gibson Les Paul and decided to give Jaws a shot because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews. I dropped of my guitar and told the luthier that I was experiencing a lot of fret buzz. The turn around time was very quick and I was able to pick it up the next day. I was told that there would still be some buzz based on my attack, which seemed like a cop out. I asked if there were any high frets and I was assured that there were none. I took the guitar home and played it to find that I was still experiencing buzzing even when strummed lightly. I pulled out the fret rocker to find that several of my frets were high despite what the shop told me. Overall, this was a waste of time and money and I’m very disappointed with the level of service.
19. McKibben Music
Address: 1118 Monticello St SW, Covington, GA 30014 , Homer , Georgia , United States
Wonderful Experience, friendly people. Great teachers, too.
This place is the best .there so nice .also I recommend taking lessons there
Excellent place and knowledge for many musical instruments. Super nice peeps also!!
Good store. Little bit of everything. Convenient for those in the area.
It’s ok
I only went there once and the gentleman was very nice. Although we didn’t get what we asked for but the experience was still a good one.
asked if they had a ukulele and they didnt which was fine so we asked the guy to give us a call once they had them in stock we wrote down our number for them. Never received a call bought my ukulele some where else
Our loved piano teacher increased the fee so we thought we would try piano lessons here. Spoke several times to a lady on the phone whom encouraged us to “try” out a lesson. Never ever stating there is a $25 fee. I do not mind paying, but I did mind being surprised when leaving.
Upon arrival the older gentleman was SUPER sweet. That is so important to me. Very kind and nice man. It changed slightly when I was surprised I owed money, but that’s fine.
The piano instruction “room” is a very dingy, dark and TINY closet with an electric piano. I was expecting a real piano, not electric and it was very claustrophobic room.
We met with Rosa. At first she was ok. But she really has a persona of being annoyed about things. She suggested getting a notebook to write notes but we already had one with and she really, obviously, didn’t like our book . She did not instruct on posture or finger placement, I told my daughter, use point of finger, not the whole finger, sit up straight… i think thats 101 and should be imp. There were several instances where I felt she was just annoyed. When we left, she didn’t say anything like it was so nice to meet you, I look forward to working with you, have a wonderful evening, etc… she actually was annoyed about me asking fees for a partial month and rudely told me to speak with the front… since we are in the Oct already I was only curious about the monthly fee. She walked us halfway to the front, turned around and left… did not smile, wait for us to officially end the goodbye… I had actually said nice to meet you, thanks for your time, have a good evening to her back. Very very odd. That sealed it for me
*surprise fee
*closet of a room
*electric, not real, piano
*Rosa not very nice
*the entire place, even bathroom desperately needs renovation
We are happily taking our original piano teachers increased fee and looking forward to her excellent instruction in a beautiful room with a real piano.
Nice family business, but its just not for us. We wanted to try the other piano teachers and told yes we could. But… oh… they’re booked sweet gentlemen and I’m sure the other instructors are great. If I had known it was electric piano and that tiny room, I may not have even bothered. If it was listed somewhere, I obviously missed it. I hadn’t looked at the website. Just reviews and word of mouth.
Rude. Bad business. I never felt so out-of-place and disrespected. 1st of all, I walked in and spoke while he was yapping away on the phone. No response from him. He kept going on with his phone conversation as I walked around looking. So, I assumed he didn’t want my business and I left. A little later, I sent my daughter in because I found half of what I needed somewhere else. He actually suggested her to get the items somewhere else. So, she was very uncomfortable and left.
