Beautiful drive friendly people all around super cool shops tons of antique and boutique stores. This is an awso.e place to take a little adventure even just for the day.
Very small historic town but worth a look. Walked from the Visitor Center, up the road, around, and back down the other road where there was a nice row of restored buildings. Drove to the cemetery, finding it after a couple of wrong turns as the directions are very unclear, but found a most unusual cemetery site with old headstones, worth all the difficulty to find it. Add this to your list of old towns and, especially, old cemeteries to see. There are a couple of weekends with special events that would have been the perfect time to visit, if we were local.
Lots of really cool land and animals
Restrooms: Theres the occasional public restroom around different campsites.
Dog-friendliness: Lots of open area.
Picnic area: Campsites all over and restaurants in town.
An old city with a lot of history. The museum is probably the best and the stores have lots of goodies! There usually is lots going on on summer holidays.

Just a cool guitar shop with cool people and a great vibe.
Locally owned and operated music shop, with an in-house fully-equipped recording room that you can reserve to throw down some high quality tracks. Great place to go if you’re looking for new or used gear
if you don’t know much about this place’s history lemme give you the rundown. so basically the owner needed to sell this place and he got it sold but the new owner ran it into the ground and now the original owner bought it back and he’s trying to get it off the ground again. so go out here and support this dude because this place is has some local history
I remember, not too long ago Gigs Music Company was owned and operated by Rick and Debbie Schroeder. They had an impressive enventory. Then it changed hands you another great musician who worked for the Schroeders from the beginning and held it’s integrity. It seems those days are over. I’ve been there a few times lately and it saddens me to say it’s really gone down hill. To say the service is poor would be a understatement. The inventory lacks quantity and quality both. It’s definitely not getting a favorable critique from me. Three stars is more than generous in my view.
Great help and service. Instruments were priced Right and in great condition for being used.
The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you’ll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you’ll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.
If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.
Andy, the store’s proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I’ve talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.
There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can’t remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.
The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don’t like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That’s just nasty, and discourages business.
If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I’ve be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
Were supposed to open at 11, showed up at noon and waited 20 minutes and nobody showed up.
Egh. A big, mostly empty space filled with pawn shop guitars, dusty packs of new old stock strings, and rack gear from 1991.

These people know what they r talking about! Beautiful instruments and great service. They have a great rent to own program and are used to setting up students band needs.
Mediocre selection. Disinterested staff. No masks.
Not as helpful as I’d hoped. Purchased a guitar somewhere else.
I called them to replace the hair bow of my violin and the strings they said they can do it. When I visited them they Saud they can’t replace the hair bow but only the strings so I had to to another music shop.
RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Do not youse there piano moving service. They chipped a good chunk of my piano, and didn’t take any responsibility for the incident! Go to Dorsey music, or any other store! JUST DONT LET WELCH MUSIC MOVE YOUR PIANO!

Doyle knows his stuff. From building pedals to repairing amps to building guitars. This guy does it all.
Hands down the best music shop in Boise. They really know their stuff and have an amazing selection of guitars, basses, amps, pedals, etc. Fair prices, super friendly and great to work with. What more could you ask for?
Doyle is Boise’s tube amp whisperer. He does great work for a great price. I love the selection of vintage gear in the store right now.
Used stuff !! Cheap…
Daryl sold the business to new owners and they are not very knowledgeable about guitar repairs or timely about getting back to you. I had to take my guitar repairs to somewhere else to get it done right. But being a local shop, they are still better than a chain store in many ways.
Rude, vague and dismissive. 0/10
Multiple trips back for guitar work done improperly. Disappointment city. Find a luthier.
This business discriminates against people with medical conditions.

Excellent place. Very clean, staff is super friendly. Water was perfect.
Great place to relax! Would highly recommend.
Amazing experience, highly reccomended, and I will definitely be booking many more stays! Wonderful staff and service.
Clean and relaxing. The adult only times they added are great.
It used to be 5 stars, but is no longer. Prices have went up while services went down. I will no longer be a customer.
My husband Dustin and I we love going there for are wedding Anniversary, best Anniversary gift ever love it you can be as free as bird . Ty DSM for the trips
Over rated and Beverly hills expensive
I’ve been here 3x expecting a better experience but come to understand the management and staff are awkward, alcohol nazis, and have horrible customer service all around. The facility is wonderful but I’m never going back, I’ll take my money else where.
poor service
8. Guitar Center
Address: 5761 Fairview Ave, Boise, ID 83706 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
The prices are fair and their selection is better than anywhere else we shopped. We went in twice. The second time we had a really nice guy give us the whole run down on how guitars are built and why they sound the way they do. He played a lot of different ones for us. We didn’t spend a ton but we did buy a nice new guitar that my son is very impressed with and he plays every day. I would highly recommend the Guitar Center.
I had a nice time
Great store super helpful
Good people. They give alright price for trades
Well stocked and plenty of employees. Unfortunately the customer service is not 5 star worthy by any means. We walked into the store past 4 employees none of which greeted us. When we finally found the guitar strings we needed another employee recommended the wrong ones and about checked us out before the original employee caught the mistake. Unfortunately when I finally got to the payment method (card/
) their chip reader charged my bank account but came up as an error on their end so I left before being charged twice without the item I came in to get.
Bottoms line though, for a huge franchise/monopoly of a music store, you’d better have your employees trained and stress the importance of customer service.
SUPPORT LOCAL ‘small business’ MUSIC STORES!
More excited
Went to store and employee’s did not say hi or how can we help you. Tried couple of amps. No one bothered to help. Wanted to buy amps and guitars. Won’t go back
Im not really a person that leaves reviews good or bad, but this needs to be said, and hopefully something changes. Customer service is pretty much non-existent. ALMOST every time I go in I end up having to help myself. I even find myself helping other customers because there are no employees around to help. That being said there is one guy in there who is pretty cool and has helped me before, he has long really curly hair. Sorry I dont know his name but he deserves recognition, so thanks curly haired guy. The selection is decent, but coming from a bigger city where the guitar centers are much larger this place is pretty sad. I’ve been a GC customer for 15 years or more and have spent alot of money at these establishments and we deserve better here in Boise. I’m not much of an online shopper but may have to resort to that if GC doesn’t change their ways. Also they need to get over the whole mask thing, if you’re that worried close the doors and stay home. Instead of asking me if I needed help, the guy at the door would rather instruct me on how to wear a mask………I’ve made it this far pal, i think I can figure it out.
Concerned Customer
Never answer the phone and when your in the store nobody asks if you need help with anything. I’ll take my business to Sweetwater.
9. Dunkley Music
Address: 3410 N Eagle Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. Their selection of sheet music is incredible and if they don’t have it they will order it for you. When I purchased my piano from them they made the process very easy and helped me every step of the way, from deciding what the best instrument for my needs would be to delivering it to my home. I also have kids who are in band and orchestra and Dunkley Music’s musical instrument rental program made it possible for me to afford high quality instruments for them. If it has to do with music, acoustic or electronic, amateur or professional, chances are good Dunkley Music will take care of you.
My brother is working best sell man
Everyone here is super friendly and makes the process of renting an instrument easy. We have rented twice through Dunkley for two of our kiddos. Both times we had an awesome experience. We will definitely continue giving them our business.
Good selection, helpful staff.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
Staff have very poor customer service skills, their attitude was down right rude. My issue was not resolved- despite being a customer for 8 years. It seems loyalty no longer matters to Mark Dunkley.
Best wishes to you.
The Nampa location is great. Helpful, knowledgeable, experienced. I brought in a violin i bought, and wanted it checked out. So it was sent to their luthier, a fella called “Rand”. This dude needs social interaction lessons. What a rude, short tempered jackal. If you like being talked to in a demeaning and belittling way, have your string instrument looked at by “Rand”. If you like normal, socially accepted treatment, avoid Dunkley or, more precisely, Rand.
Update: Just noticed I had a response. Must have missed the email on it. I hear what you are saying but telling me October when school starts in August is a no go.
I appreciate the response, but it has not changed my mind. If I cannot get service when I need it then I don’t need to spend other money there either. My review has done nothing for your rating. Just lets people know where we stand if we do not purchase or rent an instrument through you.
Flute Maintenance
If you bought your flute or are renting it from Dunkley, you are golden for maintenance. If you did not, they do not want your business. At least that is what I was told today when trying to take a flute in for maintenance. I called about a week before school let out to ask about this and was told to bring it in after a music camp. It was stated that it was not purchased through them at that time and they were willing to take it and do maintenance. It would be about three weeks.
Due to the large number of instruments for school I was told they would not accept any unless it was purchased or rented from them, but if I wanted to wait until October they would take it at that point. Shouldn’t school instruments be done before October???
Well thanks for your honesty and to the point wording of your message. I used to like coming in here, guess since my flute maintenance money is no good here neither is my other money.
Thanks for the direct message that if you are not a Dunkley instrument owner, you are not important.
Message received.
10. Blue Rider Music & Instrument Repair
Address: 595 W Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
Great customer service these ladies KNOW their instrument!
I absolutely love this place! The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and they always have what I need. I definetly recommend going here for any of your music needs. Thanks Blue Rider!
I need a trumpet mute and I don’t know if Blue Rider has one! Can someone help?
Helpful staff! They got my son’s trumpet soldered and shined!
If you are looking for a unique eclectic vibing place, this is your jam. They have tons of records, as obviously named, a cute shop with various gifts, trinkets, jewelry, cards, clothing, and more. On top of that, they even have a coffee shop and random snacks to choose from so if you decide to spend a day browsing for music and gifts, you know you’ll never run low of energy or starve!
if I was homeless I would create a secret nest in here. flawless atmosphere. I literally don’t have to be doing anything but standing and I am somehow so happy. god I love the record exchange
A place that has something for everyone! Everytime I’m in Boise I make this place a must stop.
Tons of good things to be found. If you know what you’re looking for this is the place you should go. If you’re looking to find new things, things you’re unfamiliar with, this isn’t your place. The other record shop in town is better for that sort of thing.
They have an immense amount of vinyls-its a bit overwhelming, though I’m sure there are some gems waiting to be discovered. Three stars because they’re a bit too intense with the COVID nonsense. Common sense is one thing but they’re a bit over the top. Don’t recommend going until further notice.
They don’t have any tacos.
I guess it’s ok to play filthy music with explicit lyrics while several children were in the store today….. this place has been going down hill for some time. The least you could do is pay attention to who’s in the store. Honestly the music playing today just should not be played in public. Period.
Mask Nazis ,not a fun store anymore… sold out… definitely taking my money and business elsewhere…
I literally don’t understand why people would shop here instead of the other options around… the customer service is so horrible. No one is willing to help, they just stick up their noses up at the fact that you don’t know every detail about every record ever made… and what’s worse is when they do it to a teen who is just barely getting into vinyls and now is discouraged because of the way she was treated here… it’s so sad to gatekeep when it’s literally your job to serve customers.
14. Monkeyman Music
Address: 135 N 3rd E St, Mountain Home, ID 83647 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
Dropped two guitars off to get some maintenance taken care of. Can’t be happier with the service! Both guitars play like new, the turn around was great, and the price was even better. I also love the fact they are open to 8pm!!!
Calling this establishment “mediocre” would be too much of a compliment. My brother went in to ask if the man had any guitar parts and was treated like an inconvenience. The man had his back to him the whole time, was very dry and rude and had awful customer service overall, once my brother asked about guitar lessons though is when the man perked up and became chatty. Only when money was in the conversation was he interested. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
15. Mike’s Music

Great service. Loads of experience and friendly help. Good selection of instruments.
Nice people great service very fast and knowledgeable
Great atmosphere. Helpful staff.
Sí hay una variedad de instrumentos musicales
Knowledgeable and friendly. A good selection of acoustic guitars and ukuleles
Great service, very knowledgeable staff
They do have great deals but only work with a few individuals that they approve.
I was given 2 piano books for my birthday and I need the easy print books…so I asked my friend where he bought them..Mike’s music….so I went in and tried to exchange….said not unless I had e a receipt… its NOT like anyone gives the receipt with a birthday gift!!! What a jerk….I wont go back EVER
I been going here for the years. I’m done. Instruments are old and well used. We’re have had issues with everything: from picking up an instrument that stays out of tune to, picking up an instrument that the string breaks when tuning it prior to playing, getting a cello bow for a viola, handle falling off a case, and Most recent, trying to put a violin g string on as the viola a string. I’m going elsewhere. Encourage others to do the same.
16. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 327 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
I started buying guitars and music equipment at the age of 14 and the year 1974 from Chesebro s. I had to go to the store in Rexburg just for some strings never been interested in going there I have bought guitars from everywhere Sweetwater guitar center you name it every shop every place every town I have an amazing studio I wish I could post a picture and I say I have an amazing studio so that you could actually realize just how many people I have dealt with buying.equiptment over the years.so after going in to buy some strings I’ve bought two guitars so far in a very short time and I just want to say with all the MANY people I’ve dealt with Michael takes customer service to a new level that I have never experienced before he makes you feel like the store is your home he meets every musical need you could ever possibly want and a customer service level I have never experienced anywhere.Michael I can’t thank you enough . I would say more but I don’t have enough room to say it thanks again Michael.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff! I have been shopping around online and in several stores in town to find the right digital piano for my family. They were extremely patient with me, letting me try out several models, cranking up the volume, testing sustain pedals, and doing their best to be competitive with prices. They more than earned my business, and my new Yamaha is at home and sounding GREAT!
Thank you, Margaret and Jason. I definitely recommend the Idaho Falls Chesbro Music store to others, and look forward to shopping there again myself!
I couldn’t get by without my Chesbros. I get high on the smell just walking in. The employees have become my buddies over the years. They know what I use and need and call me by name. On the second floor is a treasure trove of sheet music and collections from the past. When I lived in Colorado their was nothing half as stocked as Chesbros in the Denver Metro area. Ditto for Utah. Idaho Falls is lucky to have this gem.
Very nice place
Always fun, a good selection for most things and the staff is always friendly.
Friendly service had what I was looking for
Not thrilled at all with the service of piano, lessons 110.00 a month for a child only, once a week totally outrageous. Piano gallery was way, cheaper and nicer .
If it would allow me to give less than a full star I would have. Will never step foot in this establishment again.
I went there, asked to borrow a guitar cable, and the old guy there said “what for?” After explaining the obvious, he said he didn’t want me playing anything unless I was going to buy something. He then tried to force me to use an amp that I didn’t want to use. After he walked away, I plugged into the tube amp that I wanted to use. He then came back and told me that I wasn’t allowed to play any of the tube amps that were out for people to try. My question is this: why have the tube amps out on the showroom floor if people aren’t allowed to try them? I’m never coming back.
17. MusiCare
Address: 391 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
What a beautiful selection!! The owner and his son are music lovers and show extreme care for their instruments and yours as well if they fix!! Stop in to see what they’ve got, TUBAS TOO!!
My son is a music lover, so we stopped by the MusiCare shop while on our way home from our trip and it was definitely worth the stop. We got a live performance and filled with musical information Very nice people and very knowledgeable! My son loved it!
Makes good choices on instruments to put on priority for repair, has very good prices, and very good repair times. Come here instead of piano gallery.
The guy that was working there was not very friendly but they got the job done
They had what I needed
Just a little expensive but they had what we needed
18. Dunkley Music
Address: 1160 Blue Lakes Blvd N, Twin Falls, ID 83301 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
Great music shop, wonderful staff, knowledgeable of the products they sell. They work with you an your budget, the layaway program is the best, never thought I would get a full drum set for such a great price. This is where I’ll take all my musical business from now on.
Solid music store and extremely friendly. They don’t sell you stuff, they inform and educate you so you can make an investment. Thanks to Dennis and the guys for making my trip to Twin Falls memorable!
Needed a shipping box for a guitar, and dunkley music was the only store in town that could help me out. For that they get five Stars
19. Main Street Music, Inc.
Address: 401 N Main St, Pocatello, ID 83204 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
Very helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to get what we needed and at the same price as online retailers.
They, well Chris fixed my bass which had terrible fret buzz. I thought it was un-fixeable. He made it great and only charged me $15 for the set up. Lovely place to fix my bass.
Everything you want in a local music shop.
You know I really like this place! Fancy lights and shelves, no. But very helpful people and a unique selection of instruments at surprisingly competitive prices!!! They went above and beyond to get me a piano book. This IS where I try to take my business!
Fun place to go
Lots of cool stuff
I love the store. Alot of selections from guitars, basses, banjo’s keyboards, drums , everything! Friendly staff too who are willing to help you out find what you want. I would highly recommend this business.❤️
So it’s a toss-up I mean I went in and bought a brand new piece of equipment and a used piece of equipment the same time so far the turntable turned out to be professional and nice course it was brand new it’s what I would expect from Stanton music. And then there’s the factor of the didn’t work it shouldn’t have been on the shelf so if you’re going to buy for main Street music taking electronics professional in with you or music specialist in with you and make sure that your purchases sound otherwise only buy new.
20. Mike’s Music
Address: 2908 Pole Line Rd, Pocatello, ID 83201 , Idaho City , Idaho , United States
I have taken my acoustic and bass in for truss rod adjustment and new strings and Mike was very friendly and helpful with both of them!
Love these guys, Help my biz alot.
Original review was a complaint at one store. After contacting management/owner, they replied promply and went above and beyond to fix the problem, Kurt went above and beyond just fixing the problem. I will definitely be back.
This is my go to bass store, real close to my house, Great Staff, 4 stars because nothing’s perfect
Has a pretty good selection of just about anything a guitarist might need and a friendly staff.
Friendly and helpful
Absolutely horrible customer service. You lost a long time customer.
Rude from the second we walked in the door. I immediately knew I didn’t want to do business with them.
I was looking at a guitar here that I was in love with and was going to buy that day and the salesman pulled it from my hands and said “if your not going to buy it, I’m going to sell it to someone else.” After I just finished telling him I’m going to buy it. Very terrible service. Rude workers
