Cool place to dig through. Thanks for your hospitality and help T – I’ll be back!
Have a neighbor kid who was interested in going to a record store this was a wonderful place to take him such a big variety so clean and the people were so nice we’ll be back
Amazing place amazing shop
Nice friendly cool record store.
Check other places and compare before going with them.
The reason I posted three stars is because of no fault to you. You are strictly records when I was looking for CDs and DVD. I am sure that you are a great store
Management was rude and caused a scene at the store.
Asked about a particular CD on Record Sale Day to add to my collection because it was rare and I’ve been eyeing it for about a month, and the male worker at the store starts suggesting in a loud and sarcastic voice, audible to everyone in the store, that I might just be trying to sell them on eBay for profit. I wanted it *because* it was rare. A rare piece for my own collection. What a petty way to make negative assumptions about your customers.
Even after I tried disengaging from the conversation and walking away, he continued talking at me, telling me how stores could get in trouble for people buying multiples and trying to sell them on eBay or whatever. Pretty annoyed at the confidence he had, all because I asked a simple question.
Petty and unprofessional. Was honestly surprised, reviews on this place are great. I imagine management was stressed, but still no way to treat a customer.
3. The Instrumental Headquarters
Address: 373 Western Ave, Joliet, IL 60435 , Joliet , Illinois , United States
Jacek is an expert at fixing guitars, and we are so thankful for his time that he took fixing our guitars. A true expert, and a gem at this Joliet located Guitar Center.
Not a big fan. Kid behind the counter barely had any musical or instrumental background. Prices are high and trade-ins are a joke
Has far more than just guitars, sells drum equipment, audio equipment, and even light fixtures.
The staff was quite knowledgeable on everything I brought in the be evaluated. I brought an amp in an amp from the late 90s and the associate knew everything about it.
I’d give .5 if possible…and that’s merely for existing. My son wanted an acoustic guitar for Christmas. Since I know nothing about guitars, we went to Joliet guitar center. We spent 30 minutes in the acoustic room while 3 employees did nothing. No one greeted us, no one checked on us to see if we had questions, and no one said goodbye to us. Never again.
Every person I talk to gives me a different reason my guitar is not done, was told it would be done me overnight , the was told the next day, guess what it’s not done but will be done tomorrow. I will not hold my breath
Most of the employees are rude ignorant. I think there is one guy who works there that will actually help you. the rest of them just are very unpleasant and just….. rude. the gear is overpriced. if it wasnt for the fact that i dont know any other guitar stores around, i would not go here
5. Third City Sound
Address: 75 N Chicago St FL 3, Joliet, IL 60432 , Joliet , Illinois , United States
Bill is the man! Great place, great sound, great engineer affordable price. Definitely will be going back here.
Bill is super easy to work with and an all around great engineer that your project would definitely benefit from having on the team! I have tracked in the room multiple times now, and it’s a great sounding room packed with some killer gear. Highly recommended!
Recording my first solo album after fifteen years with several bands, several studios and several albums, I was a bit nervous to be the deciding vote for myself for the first time in my life on a full length album of my material. I certainly wanted a quality studio, but I also wanted to work with someone who knew all the things I didn’t, who was open to talking ideas through and helping me work them out but wouldn’t impose their own opinions on a batch of songs that are very near and dear to me, and who would give me the time and attention to get it right.
Bill at Third City Sound is that guy.
We recorded 12 tracks with a lot of variables and unique instrumentation/vocalization in every song, and Bill never batted an eye at any of it. He set me up for success and then gave me the space to sort out the album’s ideas as they began to take shape. He was incredibly accommodating throughout the recording process, and when it came time for the mixing and mastering Bill delivered beautifully on that big room sound I was hoping for all along. It left me creatively recharged and ready to write and record again, and when I do I know where I’ll be going.
Great small venue! Everyone there is super nice and nothing short of hospitable to anyone that comes there. It’s in a great spot to have food and drink downstairs, or byob to the shows up top.
Poor Service, Lack Of Experience
6. J&B Music
Address: 3512 Caton Farm Rd, Joliet, IL 60431 , Joliet , Illinois , United States
Update. Still an awesome spot. The owner and is his staff are always helpful. He gives solid offers if you need to sell your record collection. They also offers music lessons.
Clean store, nice layout. Prices were better than expected. The person working was very friendly and knowledgeable. He helped me look up some Radiohead albums that are hard to find. Will definitely be back.
Instructors are talented musicians, great with kids, organized, affordable and convenient. My children have been students at J & B for 8 years. We’ve taken piano, guitar and voice. Friendliest staff around! Can’t wait to see their new location.
This is the greatest place in Illinois, and dare I say, the solar system for all things music. The Vinly selection is awesome and if they don’t have something you think you want they will get it for you. If they are unable to get it it wasn’t even worth listening to to begin with. Need lessons? J&B has got covered with the best staff of music professionals around.
Stopped at the store while in the area. The young man behind the counter was very nice and helpful. The selection was diverse and I found a few things to take home.
Good store! I go for the vinyl which is mostly used with a small selection of new releases. I can usually find good deals on good condition, bit off of the radar titles. Good staff and new discount program
Great local shop. Knowledgeable staff. My son wanted a drum set for his tenth birthday so we shopped around; other places where a little cheaper but I felt like I was in a Wal-Mart full of instruments. This place gave a way more personal experience the way a music shop should be.
The workers are just the best
Great local music shop. My daughter has been taking guitar lessons here for 5 years and loves it.
Yesterday I dropped my Telecaster to have the pick up switch replaced with a four-way switch. I will post the results afterwards.
