Beautiful rock shop. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great variety. And very informative.
Cool place love the new edition who ever is doing your woodwork is good!
This is a top notch rock shop!
Bought a few beautiful pieces for my grandson’s collection.
I spent 300 dollars on rocks here couldn’t smoke any I have changed for the good of God (myself) and my family the reason for my existence.
Nice place a bit over priced
Customer service… subpar. I got the vibe these are just virtue signaling LA transplants and not born and raised locals, staking their claim here in this great town my family has lived in since old woman springs road was managed by a 4 way stop sign. Just so sad to see what LA has done to this beautiful area that was once peaceful, humble and kind. Now it’s the LA snobbery the locals despise. My friends and family who’ve been here before the “tourist boom” don’t welcome the attitude.
Rocks
In the approximately 7 minutes I was in the in the shop this woman jumped up and passed directly behind me at least 4 times in the same aisle. I use a cane for mobility so it was very rude of her and dangerous for me. Owners may want to review ADA with her. I guarantee I won’t be back and will do my best to discourage anyone I know from going.
3. The Station Joshua Tree
Address: 61943 29 Palms Hwy, Joshua Tree, CA 92252 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
Very neat store. Very friendly service. Your sure to have a good laugh when looking throughout the store.
Awesome place. Old gas station converted into a store. The guys working are very laid back and helpful. Best place in the area to get quality shirts, gifts, souvenirs. A couple really cool characters on site including a huge “Joshua” cowboy statue and hand painted “Jerry” the jerry can. Fair prices considering quality of items, not just throw away stuff. Take the side road on the left side around back for a large parking area.
Cheez it themed pop-up store available till June 11th. Free Cheez its and stickers. Cheez it merch and cool photo ops. A must stop while in Joshua Tree.
Post for Joshua Tree Pride. Cute little store with lots of things that are unique to Joshua Tree. Just wish they would have been more people and maybe more vendors to make it a little bit more Pride Festival
Great place for an event and souvenirs. Love Big Josh.
Eclectic mix of souvenirs, vintage clothing and chocolate.
Waste of time. We waited 20 minutes when the host quoted us 10. Not a single waiter visited a table the entire time we were there, and only 3 plates of food came out. The same table sat dirty for 15 minutes. No bussers. Everyone moved at a snails pace. Staff seemed to be confused at all times about everything going on.
Don’t bother stopping
We drove there to visit an antique store as indicated on Google however, there were only a few pieces…more like a souvenir/head shop.
Tommy is as cool as they come the dude knows what he’s doing he brings a classic flavor to all rock that enters God bless Tom you are the best around best of luck on all your endeavors ️ ️
Professional and knowledgeable. Currently taking care of my recording needs and have scheduled future events.
I could not have asked for a better experience overall visiting Joshua Tree Recording Studio. We booked two nights’ stay and one full day of recording, mix-down, etc. Firstly, Byron (the house host) was friendly, inviting, and super accommodating. He made sure we were comfortable at all times. Tommy recorded us with his great setup (awesome sounding drumkit for me!) and was extremely knowledgeable concerning all instruments. He listened to what we wanted and boy did he deliver; our track sounds amazing and it was so easy. It was an overall very enjoyable time at the studio and I cannot wait to return!
I love this store! It always smells good and the people are very friendly. Last time I went, I left with eight books and it’s about time to go back. The selection is great, I go there looking for one book and a few end up catching my eye.
Small, cramped, overflowing with fascinating titles. Readers paradise. Check out “Kenya Cowgirl ” by local author Annelies Kuiper
If you want to travel back in SyFy time, he has the books. Plus local writers’ books. Owner is charming and knowledgeable.
Fun little “hole-in-the-wall” used bookstore. Just a little hard to locate but worth the effort
Good place to find cheap SciFi books and literature. Generally paperbacks are $5.
This can be a little had to find as the entrance is tucked off the main drag. You will probably pass by it the first time if you dont listen to your GPS and just park when it tells you that you arrived. Its small and focused on science fiction. And that is what the owner knows. If you’re looking for a new read and want knowledgeable advice or just want to chat definitely stop in. Hopefully they will be able to expand in the future, thats the only holdback for 5 stars. But still a great local bookstore, plus they carry local titles.
10. Ricochet Vintage Wears
Address: 61731 29 Palms Hwy, Joshua Tree, CA 92252 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
Really nicely curated vintage. Slightly overly-priced but some unique pieces are worth it. The best thing about this store though is the professionalism of Kaci. She went above and beyond to provide that rare exceptional service, has a very positive attitude, and was super helpful to me. I’ll visit again. Thanks.
Cool store
So many cute finds for so many cute styles! My eye caught onto a few vintage dresses which weren’t quite my size (I’m a bit chubbier, but older decades don’t have as much diversity) The lady at the register was very sweet, and I ended up buying an amethyst stretchy bracelet. Prices can get a bit high, but they are old clothes!
Got a great selection of vintage stuff, such as clothes (especially the t-shirts and jackets), old discarded family photos, full-colored postcards, vinyl records, old school technology in the back, and many other goodies. Worth the checking out!
The staff was nice and friendly but I think the prices are high.
Staff was not wearing a mask. She was eating so I decided to try again later. Came back an hour later, and still no mask. This was on Nov.21.
Lots of old garbage with big price tags.
Really love the vibe until you find an Islamic prayer mat for $75 dollars. Outrages, keep in mind it’s not meant to be to use as a rug.
11. Stan’s Music
Address: 56636 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca Valley, CA 92284 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
I’ve connected with the family of Co workers there at the store. I’ve always wanted to take lessons there and it’s my personal favorite place to go rather than guitar center. By a mile!
This shop has a nice homey feel to it. The people there feel like family. Overall, this is a great shop with great customer service! Would recommend to everyone! -KLOS Guitars (NAMM Booth #2200)
The only music store in high desert.
Browns Music has shut down a compleetly diffrent music store has moved in called Stan’s Music.
Great litlte store and helps its cistomers very well with questions and repair or maintaining instruments..
Nice folks got some nice things in the shop! BUT I had a set up and string change done after traveling from the east coast and it looked like a child wrapped the strings around the tuners.. and it would not stay in tune (obviously) so would not recommend a set up!
I love the store and their prices but I’ve only ever been able to go in once or twice. They always seem to be closed even when they’re supposedly open. Kind of sucks when they’re the only music store in town.
12. Tumbler Guitars
Address: 56041 Buena Vista Dr, Yucca Valley, CA 92284 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
Amazing shop run by amazing people since before the National Park was a Park! Such a variety of hand-picked goodies — it’s been my go-to for gifts for years. They also support local artists by buying directly and passing quality pieces on to visitors. The sheer diversity of fun in this store always blows me away and it always seems there’s something new.
This is a great place to shop. However, their prices are sky high now!!
Small but fun. Just the kind 9f place you can’t miss. Wanted to partake of a shower , but was not sure if they are usable and available.
Lights are back.
Some interesting things unique to the area
This place is so cool and has some very cool items. I wish I could have bought more but glad I did not because the blonde lady working there did not seem like she wanted to be there and was so hesitant to answer my questions to the point I thought she was ignoring me. She just made the whole experience bad for me but the store is very nice.
I understand places are understaffed, I am a frontline worker and worked ridiculous hours with skeleton crew but despite that was never rude to clients. I have tried reaching out to the owner couple of times to change review but no response.
I smelled all the fingers of the mannequins and one hand in particular stank of salt n’ vinegar potato chips. I’m stumped.
So disappointing. We stopped by today to pick up some souvenirs for my kids. We found a few things, paid, and left. As I was walking out to the car I realized I was overcharged by about $15. I went back in to ask about the prices and the ladies were nothing but rude. There were no apologies and it seemed like they were annoyed that I asked about the overcharge. They did end up giving me the $15 back but a simple apology would have gone a long way.
Awesome store. I love the tinctures, humble deoderant, lemon cardomon chapstick and ayurvedic toothpaste. The special water is wonderful. You can also visit the health store and Natural Sisters cafe on either side it is a great shopping mall.
Incredible Store, great selection of herbal tinctures and more!! I love coming here every time I’m in Joshua Tree!!
Great place to shop
Cute little store with herbs, oils, jewelry and some healthy snacks!
Lovely little shop. Very happy to see a pretty much exclusively herbal place doing seemingly well, especially outside a major city. Proprietor is very sweet and helpful to boot.
The shelves and tables are well-stocked, without feeling overcrowded. The balance of topical ‘beauty’ and internal health products is nice, as is the mix of items locally-made (including by the herbalist owner) to those less local. There’s a pretty equal amount of each.
Items are reasonably priced considering their quality and the store’s semi-remote location.
Grateful Desert clearly understands its role as a specialty shop, as many of its products are unique or otherwise hard to find.
I have never been in this store before and I have lived here quote a while. I brought my daughters in who were on an adventure looking at the vintage and antique stores nearby. When we came across The Hoodoo we had to check it out.
The staff here was so amazing I have not seen genuine kindness from staff besides the 2 women behind the counter today. They were very kind to my daughters, I only caught one of their names told to me by the other woman but Miss. Morgan and her other associate went above and beyond for my daughters. Its shocking in this day and age to see the kindness of these two women.
I highly encourage everyone to visit this store!
They have vinyl. 5 stars right there.
Lots of other cool stuff too.
Prepare to leave with stuff, because you’ll probably like what’s on offer.
A lot of good records and the employees are very friendly 🙂
(For those of you wondering about the covid regulations: only 6 people are allowed into the store at a time and masks are required)
When it comes to record stores in the desert, they are few and far between with limited selection and often overpriced. The Hoodoo is different. They have a good inventory with reasonable prices. Only draw back is, they don’t have a playing station.
Decent prices and selection. Be sure to check out the local artist section.
Not exactly a great selection
The owner is delusional and thinks they can do magic.
19. Huntington Music
Address: 7245 Joshua Ln, Yucca Valley, CA 92284 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
Daniel’s method for learning guitar is the best I’ve found. Highly recommend.
Super nice couple, family business. Love them.
Amazing instructors!! Great with children. Well organized. Affordable pricing. My daughter has taken piano and vocal lessons with this school and people are noticing a huge improvement in her skills. I can’t say enough good things about this amazing school.
Daniel is super helpful with drum lessons thank you!
20. Brewja Elixir
Address: 61607 29 Palms Hwy, Joshua Tree, CA 92252 , Joshua Tree , California , United States
An absolutely lovely place, hosted by a caring and amazing person, please do visit to at least have a tea that I guarantee you’ll love and wish you could have more. Many thanks to Sailene, from Krystal and Michael
Sailene’s shop is fantastic! Def stop by and see all the incredible brands she carries. From the mushroom room, the flower wall, everything is iconic!
The teas are hands down the best we have ever had. So creative, tasty, and beautiful!! Lovely staff
visually aesthetic interior.
This place is not suitable to take small children. They smoke cannabis at the shop and the second hand smoke can be taken in by the children. Please be careful with your children if you go into this shop.
Reply to owner’s reply: I didn’t write that you sold cannabis in that shop. I wrote the people were smoking cannabis at the shop and in the back area of the shop where you have benches to sit. This is not healthy for children. I know what cannabus smells like, I’m not ignorant.
