Very helpful and friendly workers. Good environment, and nice guitars.
Definitely recomend it. I always go there.
Neil is very helpful and friendly, very knowledgeable about guitars.
Great place
Great customer service. Take very good care locals, musicians, and everyone who walks in. Fairly priced. Neil has helped me many times, very knowledgeable and professional. It is the go to music store in Flagstaff!
Great place! Everyone was so nice and the prices are reasonable.
This shop has a wide variety of instruments, and some beautiful violins that I was able to try out. The staff is very friendly and helpful there, and the shop is organized, clean, and spacious. Now to save up for that violin!

Brought a PRS in to have the intonation adjusted. Quoted me one price, and upon picking it up, they charged an additional $15, and nobody could answer why. They said the “luthier” (and I use that term lightly) would call me and tell me why the price was more. That never happened. Upon getting the guitar home, the strings were set so low they were absolutely unplayable. Fret buzz on every note. The intonation was off on all six strings. And the worst part is one of my bridge screws was lost and replaced with a screw that doesn’t match. Complete waste of money. First and last time they get my business. Sub standard work, and poor customer service.
To follow up… Neil called me several times to follow up and make things right. I missed the call each time but he left messages stating he would correct the problems. Unfortunately I’ve moved away from the area so unable to take him up on his offer, but it is much appreciated. He was willing to go out of his way to make it right for me.
Very rude and not very good customer service. Very bad and rude when it comes to returns or money back issues. They were unwilling to do anything about my money when I was unable to come in for lessons.
Just bought a ukelele from here with apparent buzzing after you play for a while. When going to see if it could be fixed or trade in, the manager looked at it and played it, and pretended he couldn’t hear the loud buzzing. While other customers in the store also said they could hear the obvious loud buzzing. And responded with “it sounds like a ukulele buddy” in a condescending tone. I’ve purchased multiple instruments from here with good service from the people, but I will no longer give a single penny to the store after this rude interaction of being sold a faulty instrument and then being talked to as if I was too unintelligent to understand the sound.
As a pro musician, this store did not have enough pro-quality stuff. Charges $12 for a set of strings that typically cost $7 anywhere else. The young red-headed dude behind the counter was condescending to me as I am female and he thought that even though I was asking for a specific set of strings that I might not know what I am asking for. Too bad…had high hopes for this place and was sorely disappointed.

I love this store, and the owner is such a peaceful wonderful man. Definitely stop here and check it out 🙂
Sacred Rites is the best music store in the whole area … amazing acoustic instruments for sound healing … Their sound chairs are a delightful experience … And so much more to enjoy as for example the beautiful statues
I’ve lived here just about all my life and only just found this store yesterday while wandering around! The owner is a delight and the sheer number of beautiful instruments and statues is almost overwhelming! (If he asks to show you something cool, say yes!)
Unusual instruments

Ms. Georgia is a phenomenal teacher and all around person to learn music with! I grew so much as a pianist under her instruction, which is personalized and inspired and so full of joy.
Our daughter has been taking piano lessons remotely with Georgia for many months now and we love it! Wish it could be in person but we live too far away. My daughter has learned so much in this short time and is being challenged. Georgia is professional and fun and just makes you feel comfortable 🙂 we highly recommend her!
Georgia is single handedly responsible for getting and keeping my daughter interested in piano. She meets my daughter where she is – mixing in popular songs and improvisation to keep her interested. We tried another teacher once with near mutiny results. It’s Georgia or nothing for us!
6. Solstice Guitar Repair
Address: 3880 E Rte 66 Suite 6, Flagstaff, AZ 86004 , Kachina Village , Arizona , United States
Custom Sounds is one of those rare Guitar Shops where you feel instantly at home and welcomed the moment you walk in. Staff is always friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Their attention to customers both new, old, veteran, or novice is impeccable and it is refreshing to to see that level of respect and encouragement to all musicians.
The store is laid out very nicely and is always kept orderly, clean, and humid so that all of their instruments stay in excellent shape. I have bought several instruments from Custom Sounds over the years and always have my guitars serviced by Ryan or one of the skilled luthiers he has on staff. They do great work and it seems that Ryan makes a point to hire people who are nothing but exceptional and passionate about what they do.
This is an excellent local establishment.
Ryan was super professional. I wouldn’t have anyone else work on my guitar.
I had binding repair and several adjustments made on my Martin HD-28. Ryan also recommended D’Addario 12-56 Bluegrass Light Top Medium Body strings. The bottom line, when I picked up the guitar it looked brand new, yet it is 33 years old. Furthermore, because of his craftsmanship the guitar plays with ease and remarkable sound! What a joy it is to play the guitar. I highly recommend Custom Sounds . . . Ryan is a pleasure to work with because he loves what does and wants the best for the player.
One great bunch of people here.
Real people not salesmen.
Really know thier stuff!
If you’re looking to buy or sell a home this team is top notch!
I’ve had a few interactions with the VLS gang. This review is specific to Gabriele Gerlach and my family’s purchases. Gabriele is great. I casually mentioned we were on the hunt for a house and laid out some parameters, price, condition, investment potential, family and business needs. She would contact me directly with leads on houses, but wasn’t pushy at all. We looked at a number and she gave her perspective on them that seemed honest and well balanced. When we got tired of looking, we let her know and she let us drift. Of course that is when the home we ended up getting popped up. At a moment’s notice, she was back on it with us. She was always timely in responses and getting out to see properties. I appreciate her willingness to communicate via text message. The purchase was a rocky one with a rather unconventional seller situation, and then many discoveries made during the inspection. We were ready to walk away from the deal, but she negotiated for and with us. She was calm and persistent in the heat of it. As exhausting as I’m sure we were, she never showed it. We’re now happy to be in the middle of a renovation and very pleased Gabriele took the initiative from our first interactions and worked hard to see it through.
Meh. Pricey.
I had experience discrimination with the landlord. She even try to make my moving out process go difficult and racism me with a bunch of attitude
Run!

10. Grand Canyon Music
Address: 2532 N Fourth St, Flagstaff, AZ 86004 , Kachina Village , Arizona , United States
My daughter has been with Mr. Charlie for over 3 years and she is very please with Mr. Charlie. With his classes she’s able to practice and play some of her favorite songs. Charlie is passionate about his teaching music which makes it fun and enjoyable.
Mr. Charlie has been working with my daughter for nearly 7 years and she has continued to flourish under his tutelage. She started working mostly on piano but the teaching has grown much broader. He is caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. He challenges her to strive past her comfort zone without being pushy or rigid.
One of my favorite things is how excited he is about music. When my daughter is in a lesson with him they lose track of time, which tells me just how passionate he is about music and teaching. When my daughter has had tough times in life we have increased her lessons with Mr. Charlie because she loves working with him and the music.
To speak to a unique quality he has, I will share that my daughter started writing and composing original songs when she was younger. He has helped her so much with lyrics, voice, timing, chords and more. They periodically have mini jam sessions too!
Mr. Charlie has often given my daughter small, but very helpful research projects about artists that would be helpful to her songwriting and then he explores them with her, on her behalf.
During the Covid shutdown he taught on zoom and my daughter was able to maintain her progress and lessons which was very helpful during a trying time for all.
He goes the extra mile all the time, making my daughter feel special and supported. For her, he is very unorthodox which works best for her. He seems to understand the individuality of his students and figure out how to best work with each student.
Overall, Charlie Lumpkins is the best music teacher my daughter has had…and she had many before him. We are thankful for the time we have worked with him and will continue to work with him.
Thank you Mr. Charlie❣️
I’ve had the privilege to be Charlie’s friend before sending my son to his music class. Charlie is not only a great person in heart, he is so passionate about what he is doing and cares so much about his students, as if they are his own kiddos. His music skills are great and he makes the sessions very engaging and fun. We have started learning music for my 6 year old son for about 3 months ago and he is super excited to see uncle Charlie on Wednesday and so excited to learn music. I would highly recommend Charlie and Mountain Boogie if you want yourself or your kid to have a fabulous musical experience!
15. Stephi’s Music Studio & Piano Tuning
Address: N Fourth St, Flagstaff, AZ 86004 , Kachina Village , Arizona , United States
Stephanie did an amazing job. My piano had been out of tune for years and she tackled the project like a pro. I am very happy with her work and she is an excellent pianist.
Definitely recommend
I have been taking lessons with Stephanie for almost 6 years now and she has helped my trombone and piano skills grow immensely. She is great to work with and I recommend her to anyone looking for private lessons!
Very happy with Stephi. Our family piano was severely out of tune and she gave us a couple options for how to recover it. My kids are loving being able to play the piano again without hurting our ears and we are looking forward to our next tuning with Stephi! I was also very grateful that she tries to coordinate 2 tunings per day so we can split the travel fee.

Its bookmans, they have some of the best coffee, video games, books, comics, records amd more. Its a nerds wet dream
Bookstores,(to me!) are always fun!
Great selection of used books at reasonable prices.
Great selection at top prices.
Bookman’s is a rip off I found a used cook book that sold for $3.99 when it was new I know this because it had the sticker still on it with no other price on it I figured it had to be no more that the new price and being that it was clearly a used book due to the tattered I cover I expected to pay less that the new price. That however did not happen they tried to charg
The employees from this store are extremely rude!!!Never back again.
I’m dropping my review to 1 star, I don’t know what happened to the electronics department, but there isn’t a single game or game console that can’t be found for half the price somewhere else. GBA games are twice as expensive as eBay BUY IT NOW pricing.
