Love this store, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, always feel welcome. They are my guitar and ukulele techs, keeps my gear in tip top shape , I also like the prices on products in this store, bought my gigging amp there and didn’t have to hock my life savings to get it. Overall one the best music stores I’ve been in.
The proprietor is absolutely amazing. I, a nonmusical rookie, bought a uke from him, as kids into it, and later broke a string on tuning w a phone app at the condo and he charged $2 for the replacement string, labor and threw in a tuner! Tonight, I’m on return flight to MI and jazzed as ever to learn yuke. The man is passionate, knowledgeable and a true gentleman. Buy your instrument here.
These guys usually have what I need and their prices are reasonable. Great repair shop as well.

Friendly and knowledgeable service
Waited outside patiently for 30 minutes during an employee break. When the employee opened the shop again he told us to leave as soon as we stepped in. Giving no explanation, just saying “goodbye”.
Although the store supposedly opens at 10:30 AM on weekdays, I arrived to this store at 11 AM and no one was inside and the lights were off.
I’ve been here twice. The first time I stood off to the side, but in view of the clerk. I stood there for at least 15 minutes, while 2 different customers were attended to. I wasn’t even spoken to.
The next time I went in to buy some finger picks. I was spoken to, or maybe grunted at, while the attendant restrung an electric guitar.
I’ve had enough.

These guys go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need!
Obviously the best guitar/music shop in kona
The store and staff are awesome!
Awesome owners
They have knowledgeable staff and usually have what I’m looking for. If not, they give referrals.
Good prices, good variety of gear. Guitars and amps a great value. Hard to find, keyboards are a bit dated. Knowledgeable staff, fun atmosphere. Great place for musicians.
Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store. I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don’t know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn’t value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.
Came from north dakota and was treated like family when I walked in the door. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. She took the time to explain the different types and which one would best suit me. Wonderful all the way around!
Best place in Kona for quality Ukuleles
I live here in Kailua Kona this is a place I recommend that you come for all your Ukes these are quality not like you’ll find a Long Valley Drive please support this business as they are local and have great knowledge of their craft
I’m a tourist, guitarist interested in a 6 string uke, so I stopped in this store. The man running the store was nice, and recommended another store in town. Much like the “Santa?” From Macy’s, I respect the customer service.
I ended up going to Music Exchange.
Small store, mostly low-end ukes, limited selection of accessories. Good for those looking at getting into ukulele. The gentleman that was selling the ukes said he doesn’t play ukulele so you may get the same basic info that you can research online yourself.
Was able to find a one page list of common chords for Ukulele. Fantastic!
Be careful! Preferably don’t buy from this shop. They stock a lot of made in China fakes, wood is a Koa laminate, not solid Koa. They are also labeled as Hawaiian guitars, which they are not.
The K symbol when turned sideways does not stand for Kona. It is the brand logo of the Asian manufacturer. If you get a chance Google the price of the model number before buying. Some you will find are twice as expensive in the shop as they should be.
Do not shop here! This man only sells made in China/Asia etc. ukes. Thou will happily tell you that they are ‘Island made, hand crafted by a lady down the road.’ This is a lie. Do not trust this shop, over priced tourist trap!
We hired HSV for our wedding reception recently. Communication was through email, which worked well for me. And the team set up and broke down the equipment and dance floor in a timely manner. They were there waiting for us when we arrived from the ceremony. We also had live music, The Brown Boys, they were awesome! Wish I would have been more on schedule so that I could have enjoyed more of the live band. But they was all out fault, due to delay in the getting ready and to the wedding ceremony+ pictures and all the wedding glam. So plan accordingly! Glenn, the owner was also kind and accommodating! Mahalo all.
Glenn was the DJ and MC at our recent wedding ceremony and reception and he did an amazing job! We were planning a destination wedding and Glenn was so responsive to our email and phone communication. He had us fill out some forms, so he had an idea on the type of music we liked and the special songs we wanted. We had very complex first dance songs and father/daughter songs, which Glenn had to re-master since they were a compilation of several different songs. Glenn went above and beyond in making those songs perfect and exactly how we wanted them. When we finally got to hawaii for our wedding, Glenn met with us beforehand and made sure he knew how to pronounce everyone’s names, had a good idea of the timeline, and just so he could see us as a couple. At our wedding, he gave people instruction on where to go, did the exact right amount of talking (didn’t overdo or underdo it), played wonderful mixes, and kept the whole show going. He also got the party started and made our whole site beautiful. He had uplighting that matched our colors, a monogram that had our initials with our colors, and his entire DJ stand was lit up in hot pink, which was our wedding color. He made sure everyone stayed on the dance floor, took requests, and seamlessly orchestrated the speeches. He was so personable and my guests could not stop raving about him. I did a ton of research before choosing him and he was such a great value! Choosing him as our DJ was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding. Despite unplanned delays and flooding at our wedding, Glenn was very flexible and made sure we got in everything we wanted to do. He was a true pleasure to work with and became like family to us after our big day. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Glenn. I would highly recommend him to anyone for their special day!!
HSV was simply amazing. We planned our wedding from New Zealand so we communicated primarily via email, Jessica was very responsive and answered all of our questions and concerns. Glen did our sound for the ceremony and reception and he was awesome, so upbeat and had us dancing all night! I’d recommend using HSV 110%.
We got married in Kona on October 21st 2023 at a resort and had HSV as part of the package deal..We got in contact with the staff and conveyed our special requests through a form provided by HSV AND got in touch with our DJ Amanda over the phone to discuss expectations…somehow during our event things went sideways with which music was played and how certain special moments were announced 🙁 The DJ played the wrong entrance song, forgot to invite the father of the bride to say grace over our meal, AND messed up our first dance song start! It was so upsetting but I had to put on a smile and carry on through the night. To anyone who reads this, please make sure to meet your DJ or Emcee in person to really get to know their personality, and go over the timeline.
Bula is a seasoned professional that brought elegance, happiness, and a great party atmosphere to my wedding. Very personable and easy to work with. His singing captures the moment and DJ’ abilities make you never want to stop dancing.
Bula performed during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. I wanted live music and Bula’s performing was perfect! He knew and played each of the songs we requested and I had many guests compliment us on his entertainment!
Bula absolutely smashed the performance! So so happy we had him to play at our wedding this year…the communication, accomodation and performance was terrific! Thanks to him and his team…We flew from Australia and his website helped us know what to expect. 10/10

What a fantastic store right in the heart of the shopping district Randy and the team can take care of all of your music needs. This is a new store and still growing! Already It has a sense of Ohana.
Cool Gifts and more handcrafted art works will be coming soon. Whether you’re musician, Tourist or local stop in it’s worth a visit.
I took my bass guitar in for a restring and intonation issues. Gunner did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. Will definitely bring my instruments there again. MAHALO Kindworks!
This shop is adorable! There are so many useful things for a musician including high quality instruments, strings, accessories and more. I also love the cute mugs, stickers and bags! Support local small business.
Spent $20 on gas to arrive 30 minutes before close and found out they were already closed….an update on hours would be appreciated.
