I recently shopped at Bananas at Large for a mic, interface and accessories. The experience was pleasant, and the service was A-1, informative and professional. I chose the shop because of its location in proximityto where im staying. I was also trying to avoid going to GC, a place for which the lack of good service is personally known.
On entering the store, I received a friendly, welcoming greeting, an immediate motion by the staff to render service. Although the items I sought were not sold there, two knowledgeable persons assisted me in finding comparable items. An overview (explanation) was given of each item needed, and also of any alternative. My purchase was concluded with an actual demo of ‘how to’, for the novice, which was greatly appreciated. This is the reason Bananas at Large earned a 5 star.
I looked at Banana’s online site and found that their Santa Rosa store had the looper I was looking for at a sale price that was competitive with Amazon. I went to the store and the sales person was highly knowledgeable about the looper. They have a 14 day return policy if I’m unhappy. Altogether a good purchasing experience!
Nice place.
I’ve always had good experiences here. There is a great selection for a local music store and the ability to try cymbals out at home/studio and then be able to bring them back is incredible
Very friendly staff and helpful. They also matched a lower price. The only negative issue was that we were ordering something that wasn’t in stock. So we paid for the item up front and then I later found out they didn’t actually order the product until two weeks later. It was a full month before we received it instead of a couple weeks.
日本の楽器店と比すれば、細かいところに気が利きません。
The salesman was a pretentious tool.
I was in the new store today for the first time. I was disappointed in the selection of guitars. They don’t carry Gibson , Rickenbacker or Epiphone. The salesmen told me that Gibson’s quality has come way down ( I didn’t really believe that). I thought the selection of amps an other gear were very limited also.
Too pricey for me

They worked on two of my mandolins and two of my bass guitars and did a fabulous job. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend checking them out.
Absolute gem of a local shop.
We loved it so much we are taking lessons!
Superb spot for the hard to find string instrument or the impossible to find.
Great local music store. Got my first guitar from their old store when I was 13. Comfortable layout and helpful service. Ask John to fix your violin or if you’re looking to take up Uke/banjo.

Josh was really knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for making two brits feel at home!
Super friendly, helpful, locally owned, down to earth guitar shop with a beautiful collection of vintage acoustic and electrics. The guys there were knowledgeable and couldn’t have been nicer.
Beat place ever. Repairs and we’ll loved guitars.
ギター大好きなリペアマンさんが親切に応対してくれます。おいてあるギターも面白い。今度は何か買おう!
Bad business ethics
5. The Magic Flute
Address: 182 Northgate One, San Rafael, CA 94903 , Kentfield , California , United States
Chose The Magic Flute near our home when I opened my Ukelele case to find my Uke in terrible shape from being in a hot closet. It is now beautiful and ready to make music again! Thanks to The Magic Flute and the repairman’s great service.
They couldn’t be any nicer or more helpful. They helped me find a fantastic ukulele teacher for my son and were truly helpful in choosing the right instrument for him.
A music store owned and operated by musicians. Who understand what customer service actually means. They are friendly and knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They have instructors who are top notch as well as technicians that will set up your guitar the way a luthier should. Go check out their inventory and the sales staff and see for yourself. They are not the cheapest place in Marin, but you get what you pay for. If you want a good instrument at a fair price, then go to the Flute. There is a reason they are still in business here in San Rafael after 35+ years and in my opinion it’s customer loyalty.
Tons of sheet music in this store. Staff is friendly and helpful. Many instruments can be purchased here. They have lessons in the back. It is a little run down.
Very knowledgable staff, willing to share information and great service
Friendly service. Not always knowledgable about sheet music and books, but willing to do special orders for customers. By that, I mean clerks only having a superficial knowledge of classical literature or method books. I miss not having someone specific like Linda at the store who knows editions well and keeps the inventory well stocked for studio teachers.
Did not do as asked
Saturday 1:30 PM, Incredibly rude salesman in the saxophone department. I’ve Purchased an Alto Saxophone, two high end Ukuleles, many accessories, and dozens of music books from them in the past. I’ll be taking future business including musical instrument purchases to the web from now on.
I bought a cello here 12 years ago, wanted to sell it back. Staff was super unhelpful, told me to bring it up and then said the person in charge of consignment was off till Friday, then asked me why I even bothered driving up when I. Very, very dissapointed.
