This place is AMAZING! The whole staff is so nice and really makes learning an instrument so fun. I would totally recommend going here. I personally go here and Michal Zeta is an amazing teacher he will personally connect with you and make going there like a safe space. Everyone there is still super nice I just wanted to give a special shout-out to him. I love Rockstars of Tomorrow and it’s like my second home!
I’ve been a part of ROT with jamcore, bandcore and AdultJam and it was the Most fun time EVER. ROCK ON ⚜️
Rude lady on the counter. Looks like she doesn’t want to work
Musical Lesson price is relatively much higher compared to other local schools. Management representative Mr. Robert was yelling loudly and acting very rude when I called to consult an invoice bill. Bad customer service. They money over anything for sure. Very Stressful unpleasant experience. Will not go back.
2. Styles Music
Address: 777 E Foothill Blvd, Pomona, CA 91767 , La Verne , California , United States
As a beginning guitar learner it was a little intimidating shopping for a first instrument. After visiting a couple of the corporate owned music shops in the area and suffering the sort of indifference typical of these places I stumbled upon Styles. Huge difference! Lou, one of the owners, spent a good deal of time with me helping me select an appropriate instrument and giving me lots of advise and encouragement. Both Lou, and his brother Gregg are very patient and friendly and make you feel more like family than a customer. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, I’m sure you will appreciate this gem of a local, family owned and operated business.
Amazing shopping experience. The guys there are friendly and very knowledgeable.
These guy’s are the source for
all my musical needs from A to Z,
True professionals at this shop,
the Styles family are the Best
when it comes down to core
values on all levels. Personally,
I am a better musician knowing them
Oi
Walked in to find some ukulele books to learn and to play some music. They were a litter hard to find but I’m glad with my purchase. There isn’t a huge selection but there are some starter books so I’m ok with that!
both guys are great people,I have bought guitars, strings, accessories and also they have worked on my guitars.A-1 service all the time .I would recommend them
Took my guitar to get adjusted and have new strings added. Get my guitar back with a string that was put on in such a way that i cant even use the string -.- string isnt even able to make anyguitar sound-___- as shown on picture ,third string was put in with no care );
Really unprofessional to me as there customer. Sold me a used amp that was broken.
Check your used gear before you sell it!
Told me they would fix it, free of charge and possibly throw in some gas money! The amp would be done in about 4 days. Awesome!
3 weeks later! Excuse after excuse, they than surprised me with 60$ Charge when i went to go pickup the amp. Not ok!
If the amp was completed in original time frame, i wouldnt have cared about the 60$ charge.
Styles music you still have the ability to correct this, i hope you reach out to me.
Bought a vintage guitar from this store that ended up having buzzing issues. Not thinking much of it I had a few techs look at it, all three techs stated and even showed me how bad the neck was warped, a long term issue from improper care. In hopes of returning a bit after their return policy since the issue had been there to begin with, they held their return policy ground, said their guitar tech looked at it with no problems, and even had the audacity to tell me that I not only needed a second opinion, but that the situation was nothing but buyer’s remorse! As if I don’t buy and sell guitars for a living. Seeing another review here about bad tech experiences here..I would normally say this tech needs to stick to basic restrings only, but apparently can’t even do that either. I wrote a very understanding and forgiving email about the issue and even offered an exchange for a different vintage guitar they had, trying my best to give this place a second chance..and not only outright refused me but added insult to injury claiming the neck warp was nonexistent. Thankfully I was able to sell the pickups for more than half what I paid, and plan on using the body for a custom project. One of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure dealing with. Completely insulting. I, nor anyone I know will buy from this store again.
The guitar tech here is totally incompetent. I have a tech that does amazing setups elsewhere but he has been away due to medical leave. I had brought in an instrument to be fret leveled and the guy here was using the fret rocker completely wrong with the strings on. He told me he couldn’t do anything and that I should wait for my miracle guitar tech. I’m glad I did not do business with these jokes.
Wally is easy to work with and does fantastic work. Highly recommend.
Wally is in this for the love of guitar. Absolutely wonderful human being who is easy to work with and loves the little details that make guitars play as wonderfully as they can. He’s worked on all of my guitars for years now. Highly recommended!
4. Black Oak Guitars
Address: 718 E Foothill Blvd, San Dimas, CA 91773 , La Verne , California , United States
I’ve been going to Ralph for 4 years. Once I heard he was opening his own shop I had to check it out. Guitar center is very expensive. Their Premium set up is around $90. Black Oak can offer everything in the premium set up at the price equivalent to guitar centers standard. I broke my high E string after getting it set up. It was totally on my part. I went straight to bending high notes without letting the strings set in. Anyways, I took it back the next day and Ralph replaced the string at no cost, along with a nice convo. I recommend this shop 10/10
Very satisfied customer! Ralph was able to complete the setup on my 4001 Rickenbacker to the exact specs I requested. Every bass and guitar that needs a setup I will bring to this stellar luthier.
5. Folk Music Center
Address: 220 N Yale Ave, Claremont, CA 91711 , La Verne , California , United States
Finalmente ho realizzato il desiderio di visitare questo posto. Qui dove tutto è nato..
Staff super! Qui sembra di fare un salto nel tempo 🙂
Fantastico!
Grazie
Wow this place is a definite much go to.. small shop with lots of very interesting musical instruments.. parking is difficult to get, but once your parked.. you can walk the sidewalks and see lots of different types of shops, also lot of good restaurants. My wife’s oldest sister came out to visit.. she lives Pennsylvania but was out visiting her sister in Oregon and stopped here in California for the weekend before heading back to Pennsylvania. Talk about a road trip. Hopefully sometime for the holidays my wife and I can go to visit her… but autumn would be more comfortable for me, since i lived all my life here in California.
This is a great little music store, full of vintage acoustic instruments.
Helpful, friendly staff. Like very nice people. Not to mention all the neat stuff they have to look at.
Location:Good, Parking : Okay, Service: knowledgeable, instruments: varied. Overall: First time stop and was amazed at the amount of unique instruments they had. Glad to see that this kind of place still exists when many have gone by the wayside. The area was not busy, so I can not rate as to how business is doing. I do wish this local seller continued success as it seems they have a decent clientele based on other reviews.
I want to thank The Folk Music Center for allowing local musicians to perform their music on the last Sunday of every month. I played an original song last Sunday July 31 and was so impressed by the response from a very energetic audience. I posted my song on Youtube 2 days later and will share a link here if it’s allowable.
Id love to give this more stars but. there is this woman who works there that is just a sh1ty person.
I used to think this was a great place full of good music loving people. But every time I come through( I commute from far away) I am treated and looked at as though I am a vagrant and I do admit I have a type of eccentric gypsy style to me but I expect musicians to be accustomed to this type of thing. Ha. Also my partner and I invested a good bit of money to have repairs done to our antique instrument only to have it returned in worse condition than when it was brought in. Not only is it not sell-able it is now unplayable. Sad that we invested what little we have into a place that was supposed to be the best. The only thing that satisfies the owner is watching us pull hundreds out of our wallets only then does the disrespect stop no actual care for the consumer, music or history.
Wasted my time coming here to try and sell instruments. Dropped them off and came back later in the day (40mi round trip) — they wouldn’t give me a quote over the phone or email and then wanted ME to tell them how much I wanted…I didn’t even know their worth. Flat out rejected the sale when I gave a number. Seems ridiculous. Sub-par customer service. Cluttered store. Better off just functioning as a museum.
6. Upscale Audio
Address: 2058 Wright Ave, La Verne, CA 91750 , La Verne , California , United States
I am a long-time customer of Upscale Audio. My most recent purchase was a Lumin U2 streamer. I worked with Sean Smollen and he provided service and support that was the best ever. Sean even sent me a link to his playlist on Qobuz. Again, Sean and Upscale Audio are Numero Uno for a fantastic audio buying experience!
Upscale Audio has a very courteous and knowledgeable staff. They will answer email questions promptly and with great information to share with a potential or current customer. They ship heavy items very professionally, and do a great many things to ensure you are a satisfied customer.
I purchased a PrimaLuna EVO 400 tube power amplifier from Upscale Audio; and, after 35 years of being an avid buyer of audio gear; I was really amazed by the sound of it.
It is hard to amaze me these days. I was amazed by this amplifier.
Call Upscale Audio, and see how they might help you out.
In a day when you can buy audio gear in so many places from anyone; it is nice to really communicate with a real person.
Bought my sbooster linear power supply from here which was great. These guys are pros with good customer service. My dac broke and I had no need for the sbooster anymore (no 12v audio products) and they accepted it as a return without question. To me this is a sign of good customer service. The whole time I dealt with them it always seemed to be their goal to make their customer happy and for that I write this review.
Although I felt a bit put off, Kevin made an attempt to correct it. In a last ditch effort I cleaned the pins and the issue was corrected. I hope that in the future he will try trouble shooting before I just up and send something back.
Great condition used gear also, my only complaint is that the remote batteries were starting to rot. Also shipping needs to be faster. my order just sat there for 2 days.
Good service
Has the look and feel of a Classic Bait and Switch. Order was placed for a set of regular Mullard kt88 Tubes on 7/31. Credit card was charged and I was told from the management of upscale audio that my order was “all set”. I see no movement on my order 10 days later, so I ask for a status update. I’m told today that I have no choice but to buy their special “cryogenically frozen” tubes for about a 20% premium. I ask for so much as a $1 off on a $60 tube and they can’t do it? More I think about, it’s classic bait and switch. At best, it’s terrible service. These guys take my order, confirm it’s “all set”, charge my card, and don’t communicate when they don’t have product to ship until I reach out to then 10 days later? Then when I ask them to call me in search of a solution, they reuse to do anything to make it right. Are you kidding me? They wouldn’t give me $16 off on a $900 order when it’s their mistake? Their answer was they “cannot sustain their business” if they make that accommodation. Congratulations Upscale Audio, you stood your ground and refused to make a more than reasonable accommodation. I have news for you: if you need the $16 that bad on a $900 sale, your business has bigger problems than the review I just left
Worst customer service I’ve experienced. They have 0 trust or respect for their customers. I bought 3 NOS tubes from them and 1 of them arrived not functioning. I returned them for a warranty, I called ahead and got a return code and shipped them in the tube box they came in. They called and told me that they couldn’t accept them since they couldn’t confirm that I bought them from upscale audio. Now I’m out hundreds of dollars. Never buying from them again. Did they seriously think that I somehow found other matching tubes and boxes and tried to scam them? Ridiculous.
Sold me bad tubes and wouldnt replace them. Stay away. I’ve never been so insulted in my life. Very rude.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 842 W Arrow Hwy, San Dimas, CA 91773 , La Verne , California , United States
Place is great. I go there when ever I need something for my instruments.
Great customer service and a knowledgeable staff!
I went to the Glendora location for a rental for my son and Landon assisted us. This store has a lot to offer, the rental part was very easy to do. Landon is very helpful, friendly, and customer service oriented. Find him at his home store in San Dimas!
Was recommended this store by my music teacher. Great store that sells anything you can think of music related. Music & Arts had one employee the day I went in to get a practice book for saxophone, and they were most helpful. Very friendly, and helped me find exactly what I needed. It may not have the same inventory as some of the bigger music stores in the area, but I would definitely recommend Music & Arts if you need something music related.
Please come when you want to lose money with auto-charge. they cancel my son’s drum class and cancel the account without lesson credit back. Very bad experience about auto-charge. And very bad experience on Customer service.
Do they have cellos?
12:28 pm, Sunday. The teachers and students are waiting for the shop to open.
8. GMP Guitars
Address: 535 W Allen Ave, San Dimas, CA 91773 , La Verne , California , United States
Some of the best guitars built in the USA to your specifications!
You like jumbo or skinny and tall fretts? He can do anything. He can create any necks you want. One of the best in the business. Easy and very friendly atmosphere !
GMP Guitars RULE. I picked up my special order Fire Bird and was so impressed I sold my Les Paul and I’m getting ready to order another GMP. After playing this guitar, everything I touch feels like a cheap fender knock off. QUALITY and Great Customer Support. Looks like all the big names are moving over to GMP as well. Want a REAL GUITAR ??? GMP is where it’s at 🙂 RnFnR
The owner Dan is the best!! Super talented and makes the best quality guitars. Try them out you won’t be disappointed.
These people are scammers I would not do business wit these low life people!!!!!!!!!don’t waste your money!.
9. Noisebug
Address: 252 S Main St, Pomona, CA 91766 , La Verne , California , United States
This is a great local music shop. I have bought several pieces from them and they’ve even been willing to open up when I was in the neighborhood despite being closed at the time. They also have cool shows and events.
You have a world of options for where to shop, but Amazon won’t sit with you for 30 minutes explaining in detail the nuances of Low-Pass Filter dynamics. Noisebug has a staff of friendly and honest experts and I always leave smiling.
Great little shop in downtown Pomona, just west of the big antique mall area. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly even though I was new to modular synthesis theory and practice. The best part was being able to put some headphones on and try out some new synths right there in the store. Will visit again soon!
Husband was interested
Gusto a la musica
The shop looks phenomenal exterior &interior everything is well organized with quality products and educated staff members can’t complain about any of these things. The only catch is the Cost said of products they are charging an arm and a leg for their mid-range merchandise. If you are in the market for low to mid-range instruments you’re better off going to Sam Ash. if you have the cash in hand you should consider their higher end products but otherwise stay clear.
10. Musical instruments and accessories plus
Address: Valley indoor swameet espacio G28, 1600 E Holt Ave, Pomona, CA 91767 , La Verne , California , United States
Was a great shopping experience. they once again price matched a killer bundle deal I found online with a competitor.
My daughter has been coming here for piano lessons since May and it has been the best experience so far. Her instructor, Hector, has made her feel very at ease and keeps his lessons fun and interactive. Mandy, Britney and everyone there are super friendly and helpful. Thanks guys!
Guitar Center of Glendora is great place for kids and adults! Large selection of music instruments and beyond. Friendly personal. Terrific music teachers! Love their quarterly performances – all students are welcome to share the love to music and be proud of their achievements.
Service was good but the prices are marked up
Inventory is really low. Minimal amps shelves seem to be empty and virtually no pro audio gear other than the basic mixers and dj equipment
Great of you want to try out low cost guitars.
lol the blonde lady that works there told me to stop playing the drums so loud even though they have a specific drum room that is “sound proof” and have a drum set for people to play. After I came out of the room with my girlfriend, her and another co-worker were giving us the MOST judgemental eyes ever and you could tell they were gossiping about us. The rest of the time we were there, they stared us down making us very uncomfortable. Not to mention, my girlfriend was trying to buy a keyboard but no one cared to help us. Bruh, how are you going to have a drum set for people to play but not even let people play to their full potential. My friend was right when he said this was the worst Guitar Center to go to. They don’t see you as a customer but rather walking commissions. Sam Ash is better anyways. If Guitar Center has the “low” prices, just price match at Sam Ash. They actually care about your well being there.
Had to wait 30 mins to pay when there were only 2 customers on the line.
I went to this store looking to test out a couple guitars and an amp I hadn’t played before but was thinking about buying. I played for about 30 or 40 minutes testing out a few different things and most of the staff were cool. However, there is a blonde guy there, didn’t catch his name, that is pushy and rude. He will annoy you to death, basically until you leave. Because of this guy, I would never buy my amp from here or any guitar from here. Go to Sam Ash instead. Much better service.
12. WW La Verne
Address: 2084 Foothill Blvd ste e, La Verne, CA 91750 , La Verne , California , United States
Great customer service, friendly, communication was very helpful and so was cashier
Easy, quick, and with curbside as an option I feel safe.
Muy bien esta tienda ⛺️
It is what you expect at any Target.
Long lines at checkout, so unorganized shift leaders are nowhere to be found.
I like target
Last month at drive up service, the guy who delivered my drive up delivery purposely pushed the red cart in to my car, scratched and dented my SUV back door and threatened me. I reported multiple times to client services with no result.
Will NOT return to this Target location.
October 8th 2023. Floors are filthy! . There was only one register open for checkout & the rest were ‘self checkout’. Self checkout is a joke! Soon enough there will be an option to leave a ‘tip’ on self checkout. Does Target think their customers are employees too having to check themselves out? They wonder why there is a theft problem…close self checkout and have better staffing.
Very poor customer service, wrong prices everywhere and no cashier nearby to find.
14. J. Brown Violin Maker
Address: 232 N Indian Hill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711 , La Verne , California , United States
The owner, Mr. Brown is quite calm and very straight forward handling subject. But, it’s not bad. He seems very reasonable and has huge experienced skill of instruments. His wife used to dealing with customer, she is so friendly and very informative, sweet lady.
I hope they have been keep operating as a good local instrument expert.
When we came on Saturday, it was closed and the web said it was
15. La Verne Smoke Shop
Address: 1463 Foothill Blvd, La Verne, CA 91750 , La Verne , California , United States
The guy behind the desk was talking to someone else the hole time I was there and was talking about weed and how his job sucks and was not personable or commented on my question or remark to his conversation.
Cool smoke shop. Owner is a nice guy.
The guy that works here is great
Bad customer service, I understand times are difficult but wow.
Purchased two Cloud Bars, one of them did not work at all and they claimed they could do nothing about it! I recommend heading over to Jakes Smoke Shop! The boss man will always take care of you no matter what even if he isn’t in the store!
Worse place i ever been rip off sells broken glass. Overpriced tabacco
16. The Glass House Record Store
Address: 248 W 2nd St, Pomona, CA 91766 , La Verne , California , United States
I love the Playland here. It’s nice, clean and loungey. Always nice and cool inside too. We like to enjoy a sundae and play for a bit after school. It’s never super crowded and easy to watch the kids in the play area. The kids love it and never want to leave.
Fast and friendly service
Clean restrooms and fast service
Double drive thru. Kinda confusing but it works. Forgot the onions on my mcrib.
It’s McDonald’s!
Toilet was not clean enough and they use hand dryer which is not up to the standards. The Signature Crafte Recipes is not worth the the price and you get just a small portion.
Ordered 2 sausage Mc Muffins and when we got home there was no egg
Took those back and let them know and got replacements and when we brought those home they had no sausage OMG called the manager and told her and said we want our money back and go somewhere else you can get what you pay for
They ruined our morning and breakfast
order something and got something not ordered and take there sweet time mid-day
This place is an absolute toilet. I would rather eat my own foot than set foot in this trash heap.
18. Jim’s Musical Instrument Repair
Address: 137 E Arrow Hwy, San Dimas, CA 91773 , La Verne , California , United States
Brought in my guitar for a Setup and some other minor things.
I paid a fair price for some great work. My guitar is in the best playing condition its ever been in after they were done with it. This place is now going to be my go-to for all amp and guitar service needs! thanks!
Chris is very knowledgeable, does excellent work and at a very fair price. I bring all of my guitars, electric and acoustic, to him for repairs and or upgrades. Thanks Chris, Jack
After talking to Chris over the phone and explaining that something was wrong with my Schecter and that it wasn’t playing as loud as it should be when plugged in, just from experience alone he knew 3 different things right from the start of what the problem might be even before looking at the guitar. Judging from how cool his shop looks and his knowledge and also all the great reviews he has on here and other sites this guy knows what he’s talking about. I just dropped off my baby with him and can’t wait to hear how she’s going to sound after it’s been put through Chris’ hands.
Expert upgrades and repairs. This is the place to go for a guitar setup! I can not recommend them highly enough!
Took an acoustic and an electric fender to Chris. He did an amazing job. Sounds better than new and also an amazing cleaning job.
Owners of shop are extremely unprofessional and I witnessed them cuss out a bystander. There is absolutely no respect and I do see a pride issue at play. Sad to see.
Owner was extremely disrespectful to someone outside of his storefront. Said it should’ve been obvious the store was open when the lights were off and the time was over 30 mins after close… sent his female coworker outside to cuss the kid out. So unprofessional and disappointing. Would leave zero stars if I could.
friend of mine used to work there and he recommended I go there for my amp repair. Said he was a knowledgeable guy and fair prices.
Called in and told the owner my buddy who worked there recommended I go. Immediately told me “yeah I fired that guy” and I know for a fact he didn’t… but nevertheless…..
Asked about getting an amp looked at for a hum. Wanted to know if I needed new tubes or not. and was told it would be 150 dollars to just look inside. And it would be more if he had to do any work. Then he went about how people are always getting mad at him for charging more than 150. Then he said “you should just fix it yourself”
Mind you this is after showing up 2 times at 4:30 and no one was there when their hours say they are open till 6.
It sucks there aren’t more amp repair places around but won’t be going there… that’s for sure
20. The Fret House Inc
Address: 309 N Citrus Ave, Covina, CA 91723 , La Verne , California , United States
I love this place. They are always willing to help and have a lot of knowledge. Bought my first tube amp here and could have bought it a GC but didn’t. The staff here is helpful and knows what they are talking about.
Great service and costumer service and helped tell me what was wrong with the guitar and was really fair with the price
Been a customer of the F.H. since I was a kid, I am no longer a kid and I’m still a customer.
Im lefty handed
Dropped off guitar on 11/3 – estimated day of completion 11/6. So it’s been roughly three weeks since I dropped off my acoustic guitar for what they said would be a simple 1″ crack repair, that the majority of the repair would be from the inside and that the top would not need any work.
“We’re working on your guitar in between other guitar repairs, but we’re not going to charge you”. WTF man! What kind of business are they running?
Went to pick up my guitar last week. Sure enough, they jacked up my guitar in the process of trying to repair it. This sucks!! Why couldnt they have been honest from the beginning. They have offered to replace it with a same model and I accepted the offer.
Early December – waiting on guitar. The manager claims it wil take up to 8 weeks for Godin/S&P to ship one from Canada. 8 weeks?
January – I have yet to receive a call with an update on the ETA of my replacement.
February – Still no call back from the manager. This is complete BS. DO NOT TRUST!
Misposted hours of operation – it’s very disappointing
