Bevon is a fantastic builder and awesome guy. I always take my Northfield mandolin and Bourgeois guitar to him for any fixes or just to check the set up and make sure everything is looking good and feeling good before busy weekends playing shows.
Big Hollow Guitars are so beautiful and meticulously built. I’m blessed to have such a knowledgeable builder right here in Summit County.
+++++☆☆☆☆☆
Absolutely awesome! My acoustic needed a neck adjustment. I called Wednesday afternoon. I had a gig on Friday and needed the guitar to be fixed. He got it done that day. He builds beautiful guitars. Played me a beautiful song. Wonderful experience. Great guy.
This is someone’s house in a neighborhood and not a music or guitar store. Many home (music) businesses sneak their way onto Google maps and it wastes the time and money of people who need to purchase something quickly in a store.
If it is not a storefront, it should not be on Google maps because people waste their time navigating to places which they cannot enter, despite the location being advertised as a location you can drive to, and “open.” I needed picks and strings.
To the owner:
You should advertise this business on appropriate channels like social media and Google Search. Not Google Maps because you are not a storefront. Is your home zoned as a business location? That is what you are communicating with this time wasting listing. Good luck.
3. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Had a great experience here. Shane is very calm and helpful. They restrung my husband’s guitar and cleaned it up for me same day. Actually within 2 hours. It sounds and looks great again! Very affordable too! My husband was very happy when I delivered his “surprise”. Thank you!
I also got some piano sheet music for $2.
Nice selection of record store day black f riday releases. Very friendly owners.
great record store not far off I – 70. I was on a snowboarding vacation and Affordable Music was on my way back to my motel in Leadville. So I stopped in and found some gems on vinyl. Motown, 4 Seasons, and Julie London albums. Owner, Gary was totally cool and gave me a real great deal on the 4 albums. Was very helpful in trying to find cardboard box for the records for my return flight back home. Plus he had a real friendly dog too!.All kinds of music formats to choose from.
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
Limited selection, average prices
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
4. Redbox
Address: 300 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Large selection of wine, beers, and liquor. Very friendly staff. Loyalty rewards.
Amazing selection at reasonable prices. Stopped on a whim while driving through Leadville and was blown away by the quality of this store. Helpful staff, great for craft beer and liquor. Seriously, this place is a gem.
Sold selection of craft beer and local liquor from CO
Awesome staff very kind and quick very helpful as well
Okay
It’s a liquor store
The gal behind the counter had an issue with my children being in the liquor store with me. As a single mom with a camper, I’m not going to leave them in camp or in the car. I’ll find another liquor store the next time I’m camping in Leadville.
Very condescending behavior for a liquor store…not sure why that was nessecary.
6. The Western Hardware
Address: 431 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Cute store with lots of antiques and vintage items. Ambiance was very charming.
I lose track of time when I go here a must see
A wonderful two story Antique Store, formerly Leadville’s Hardware store.
Cool place for antiques and collectibles in a historic building.
Always fun for btowsing. I found a couple treasures and reminisced
Unique!
My husband and I went into the store and found quite a few things we wanted to purchase then we saw on display a derogatory vulgar bumper sticker regarding Texans ( where we are from), when brought up to the staff they laughed and said so what. I told them I was offended, handed them our potential purchases and walked out and shared our story with our fellow Texan friends- no one in our group purchased from that store and won’t in the future as well
They Hate dogs at Wesren Hardware Antiques. Our little dog has always been welcomed into hundreds of antique stores from coast to coast. They threw us out of their store as soon as we walked in. They expected us to leave him in the hot car in August. We will Never come back!
This place was good. However the young girl with brown hair was extremely rude. As soon as we walked in she didn’t even greet us. She just informed us when they would be closing. She seemed annoyed that we were even there. We had our children with us, we travel a lot and always visit local antique stores. Our children are really well behaved and know not to touch anything unless given permission. My husband was showing our son a tiny baseball bat and said you can’t swing it! Next thing we know the young girl working the store yells at us “don’t let your children touch anything”! My husband told her “it’s fine I told him not to swing it if anything gets broken I will pay for it!” she continued arguing with him so we decided to leave immediately. It was embarrassing and sad being treated this way, because we pride ourselves on our children being well behaved! So don’t go in here with children even if they are well behaved. Also this is my first review ever, that is how bad our experience was!
7. Matchless Treasures Thrift Shop
Address: 623 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Definitely some treasures to be found in here. Also, the woman working behind the counter was very sweet.
Amazing Selection and cheerful staff!!!
I had a excellent shopping experience! I will shop here every chance I get! It was also very pleasant experience!
There were 2 sewing machines built into desks! I would have been tempted to buy 1 but there wasn’t room in my vehicle.
The upstairs was seasonal merchandise when I visited.
I purchased a high altitude cookbook & a book on local cross country ski trails. I paid with cash to avoid the surcharge that is placed on card transactions under $20.
Some decent deals, but I have never been to a thrift store that isn’t willing to sell things, I mean seriously isn’t that the point? Sell everything you can for more space for new merchandise.
Decent selection and fair prices.
Super crowded and cluttered. If they priced their stuff lower and more reasonably, they would sell more, make more of a profit, and be able to keep up with the donation demands. Nice staff, though.
Hello I just drop on outside the door in thrift store my stuff for donation about 3 plastic bag white thank you have a great day
8. Steve’s Guitars
Address: 19 N 4th St, Carbondale, CO 81623 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Steve is a chill guy. I hang out around his venue.
Great venue on the western slope!
It’s ok
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.
9. D’Angelico Guitars Aspen Showroom
Address: 240 S Mill St Suite #201, Aspen, CO 81611 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
After a recent surgery kept me off the slopes, this guitar store was a godsend. Jonathan let me try out dozens of guitars including the new Bob Weir Bedford model (which plays like a dream). His customer care was spot on.
Comfy couches, Vox and BluesCube amps to play through made for a very relaxed and overall great experience. Normally, I play PRS, but will likely add one of theirs as well after trying them all out.
The most relaxed guitar shop ever. No pressure. Just enjoy being around quality pieces, and fellow guitar enthusiasts, and scope out a nice selection of vinyl. If you’re lucky, there may even be a puppy or two to pet…
Excellent customer service and beautiful guitars. I will be coming back for sure! Only guitar store I’ve ever been to that had so many left-handed choices!
Beautiful guitars! Walking into the store, you see the beautiful guitars and equipment out and ready to play. The staff here was nice and welcoming. Sadly, I’ve bought too many guitars in my life and couldn’t get another for the guitar’s sake. If, in the future, I ever want to buy another (for some reason), this is probably going to be the first place I look. Overall, I absolutely recommend these guitars for their good prices and amazing craftsmanship.
8/10
Great find- been playing guitars for decades and happened to stumble across this store.
Very impressed with the guitars and the showroom.
The store manager was very helpful and explained the brand in detail to my friend who accompanied me. He was knowledgeable, friendly and NOT pushy.
Def felt comfortable inside the store with their couches. Place was well appointed and very clean and tidy!
The guitars seemed well built and had great action and time.
Def considering this brand when I’m ready to increase the guitar herd.
10. Broken String Guitars
Address: 105 N F St, Salida, CO 81201 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Amazing inventory. Beautiful just beautiful!
Fair pricing and decent selection. Owner is very straightforward and honest. Highly recommended.
Great shop. Chris is super approachable and knows a ton about guitars.
Chris was very helpful and accommodating even if i was a day early for his shipment…
I drove over an hour and a half to salida to go this shop and nothing else. I got there, and they were closed at least two hours early. Better call before you go, apparently they don’t keep the hours they post.
11. GLENWOOD MUSIC
Address: 3102 Blake Ave D, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Stopped in on a weekend trip through Glenwood and had a wonderful experience. Super friendly staff, and plenty of great gear at great prices!
High marks for Kevin who quickly and completely took care of some maintenance on my guitar today. Always a good experience with Glenwood Music.
They did some nice work on my guitar
I may have never purchased anything from this store, but they have a kickass mural of a gorilla playing a Flying V on the side of the building and it rules. The gorilla is probably playing “Cemetery Gates” by Pantera at full blast.
Hay todo tipo de instrumentos a precios razonables
Took guitar lessons, glade I did..
I took my guitar in to sell on consignment. I was told I would be called when it sold. After 2 weeks I called to see if it sold. I was then told it had sold the week before but I never was called by the owner. When I went in to get my portion of the money, the owner was very standoffish and if he had been a bit more approachable I would have told him how he never called me to tell me it sold. Luckily I won’t have any reason to go back there for any reason!
Customer service is absolutely awful. The rudest staff I have ever had to deal with. They are so pompous and rude I am sad I gave them my money. If you aren’t knowledgeable about music DONT GO HERE, the staff is terrible to customers who don’t know music. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere or just shopping online. Not one member of the staff is nice and helpful, worst musical experience ever!
Very disrespectful people. I hate spending my money there but it’s the only local music store 🙁
12. Family Dollar
Address: 1100 Poplar St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Es muy bueno tenerlo en el pueblo se ahorra un poquito pero seria muy bueno tener mas productos mexicanos ya q en la única tienda grande no se encuentran ya gracias
Good quick shop
Really neat store to be here ️
Not sure how to say this nicely, but that store is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Three different times I brought items up to the register and found out they cost almost double the amount they were priced at on the shelf. How about pricing goods correctly????Things are EVERYWHERE ! Not by department, boxes all over . Not clean or organized ! Honestly, how hard is it to organize and manage a small store like that correctly????? Pretty sad for Leadville!
The isles are blocked so badly with unopened boxes I’m surprised the Leadville fire marshal doesn’t shut this business down. If there’s an emergency you’re trapped inside that death trap.
Place is literally in shambles. I guess they don’t have stockers, and the aisles are filled with crap and difficult to walk down. We’ll, either they don’t have stockers, or a bunch of bears got in and had their way with the place.
13. Wildwood Guitars
Address: 500 S Arthur Ave STE 700, Louisville, CO 80027 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
I have been playing guitar for about 15 years now and have been to a TON of very well known shops around the country. Wildwood Guitars is by far, the best shop I have been to. I was searching for something specific, a 1958 reissue Les Paul and sad they had a good selection of them online. Years ago, I would occasionally play an R8 my uncle had and was devastated when he sold it. I had never played a guitar that felt so perfect before and thought I never would again. I let the guys here know what I was looking for and they started farting in guitars into a private room I was in with a bunch of amp options. I spent hours playing through all of them and nothing seemed to come close to that R8. They had one last guitar for me, a 2016 True Historic ‘58 Les Paul in Cherry Burst. This thing had the magic I was looking for and I couldn’t leave with out it! This was over 4 years ago now and I will forever cherish this purchase. Thank you Wildwood for helping me find a guitar that will always get so much love and will be passed down for generations in my family.
I ordered a relatively expensive used instrument from Wildwood not knowing them at all and they were an absolute pleasure to work with at every step in the process. There was a problem with my order (due to no fault on their part) and they were helpful in getting it resolved immedately. I’m totally satisfied with their service, support, and attitude. I would most surely do business with them again.
I worked with one of WWG’s sound-engineers to design a custom Taylor and the guy literally found a way to speak to the CEO of Taylor to get it approved. They know their stuff and they care about their customers. Shout-out at Brian – you’re awesome. When the guitar came in WWG created a beautiful photo palette – they didn’t have to – they just made the purchase special. Great team.
Nice inventory, but really more online-oriented
Inconsistent service. Sometimes they’ll reply to your emails when you want help in buying an item, some other times they’ll ignore you.
Apparently they only want to do online business. Don’t bother going to the showroom. They won’t let you in….because why would you want to play the $3k instrument before you buy it?
I’m sure it’s a COVid thing, but even with COVid, every other shop in the US is still willing to do business.
I usually buy a new guitar around my bday every year and literally had $3k cash on me. I was going to look at a used SG Custom from craigslist, but was totally willing to spend that money at Wildwood if something impressed me.
I guess I will go somewhere else. Not my choice, but if they don’t want my money, then that’s hard to argue with.
I’m happy their online sales are good enough to close their showroom. Good for them…bad for customers:(
Still a great guitar shop, but how can you leave more than one star if they are literally turning away business?
Wish my experience had gone something like these reviews. They should too as it could easily have resulted in a sale but, no, not the case.
I walked in and told the person that unenthusiastically greeted me I was looking at a Collings O2H in the $3000 range and wanted to see if they had something comparable. He said “We have over 2,000 guitars.” Uh, okay. I answered but anything similar like a 00 Martin for example? He led me to a computer screen and invited me to peruse their “over 2,000 guitar” inventory, find what I wanted and he’d bring it out then walked away. Zero guidance. Didn’t make it through the first page of Martins before walking out.
Before the day was over I returned to the store carrying the Collings, wrote a check for just under $3,000 and drove home.
I understand Wildwood changed owners so perhaps this is their new business model and, hey, it may work out for them but if I’m dropping three grand or more on a guitar I expect service which I found plenty of at the three other stores I visited.
Went to Wildwood to purchase a guitar, but the storeroom was closed. A customer was trying out gear in the parking lot with the owner. Why not let one customer in at a time or make an appointment? Anyway, my guitar search continues… Just at another store.
14. City on a Hill Coffee & Espresso
Address: 508 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Enjoyed my espresso and the eclair which was massive but after a big ride well deserved.
Love the inside with the artwork (to buy) and the wood finish theme throughout.
Very relaxing cafe.
Loved this place! I made a poor choice on coffee, but the food was good & the drink my wife had was good
This place was pretty good! The coffee was made well and the quiches that we had were good! The service was fine and the atmosphere was nice. The facilities were nice and we enjoyed our experience here. I would definitely come back here and would recommend this place to others.
Good coffee and pastries, nice staff, good luck getting a place to sit. Looks like the locals hang out using the free wifi.
Cute store! I had their mocha with peppermint and it was too sweet with no coffee flavor. I ended up throwing it away. My husband ordered a mocha with Carmel and it was worse. Too bad the coffee wasn’t good, the store had such a great atmosphere!
I’ve been here before and had fond memories of the coffee and service. However, I stopped in yesterday with some guests visiting and felt very unwelcome. I greeted them kindly and got stared at with disgust. I thought I had something on my face lol. When I politely asked a question about one of the tea options, they rudely stated “I have no clue, we only have bags.” It was as if they felt my order of three items was a huge burden (there was no one else in line). I brushed this off and tried to thank them and smile before leaving and got another blank stare/ no comment. After reading some other reviews, it seems I am not alone. Will not be back here.
Horrible service and food.
Extremely rude staff, truly the kind of energy and negative environment that ruins your day. Definitely regret tipping. No one is asking for exceptional customer service, but pleasant interactions would be nice. Much better and friendlier options to check out in town like ZeroDay.
15. Lafayette Music
Address: 1361 Forest Park Cir #106, Lafayette, CO 80026 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Excellent customer service. Called with 10 minutes to close on a Friday afternoon for a Saxophone sheet music book needed for Monday. Immediately the nice sales person put their hands on the book and held it for me until I got there. They just made a repeat customer especially since I didn’t know they were so close to me! I love that it’s supporting an individual instead of a chain as well. Thank you very much!
I was glad I could sell my trombone here.
I found it to be a very good music store with a large variety of music to choose from!
Little music store where you can find mostly everything you need. Most of the employees are nice and helpful for a small store.
Very wide variety of sheet music and instruments. The new location is a little tight, but it’s nice to still have them around.
Not bad for the only music store in Lafayette
Avoid this place at all costs.
Clerk made a mistake, got into an argument over what he said, owners showed up and started in with “Take us to court!” rather than listening to the circumstances. No customer service whatsoever. Apparently incompetence runs in the family-owned business. Nice store from a product standpoint, but terrible customer service. Left feeling screwed and unheard, with venomous wounds from really cranky people who don’t care to listen or do the right thing. Not sure how this store can survive with this kind of rudeness.
The owner was rude. I was trying to rent an instrument for my child for school. I felt like they were annoyed with my questions. It seemed that me trying to give them some business was an inconvenience to them. I will not go back.
16. Before & After, Coffee & Cocktails
Address: 612 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Amazing selection — they make any cocktail off the menu to perfection
Amazing drinks in a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Bar tenders were friendly. We got the pseudo cider and old fashioned and loved them.
I really wish this place was close to my house
easily the best cocktail bar in Leadville
Great cocktails but the service needs better training. Our waitress came over once to ask us if we wanted drinks and never asked again. We ordered a burger which tasted great but took an hour to make and didn’t even come with a side. We also had to get up to get the check because our server never came back to check on us. Could be 5 stars with improved service.
Delicious drinks for a fair price. The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing. I ordered some wontons and they were awesome! But I wish the food menu was more transparent by listing how many would be served. I spent $10 for 4 wontons ($2.5/wanton)
Place is pretty cool but service could of been better we were at the bar and never got asked if we wanted a second drink. We would of got another one but just decided to leave.
Unfriendly and bland. Good for Vail tourists that got lost.
Eh, nothing too special. Maybe better for tourists. The inside is super cute but for covid safety, seating is very close together. Should have sat outside. Pretty clean at least. Mocktail was ok, just came from a can. The menu made it seem like it was supposed to be mixed with something else. I had chips that I thought were homemade, but it seems like they just dump a half bag a store bought chips on a plate and charge $6 for it. Same with the avocado and crackers. The sandwiches/rice bowls might be worth it but I’m afraid to try.
17. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
A very well run establishment. I have purchased equipment there and have used the studios in the back for guitar lessons (Jon is a great teacher). Scott, Henry and the staff there are knowledgeable but without the attitude non-professional musicians often experience in stores like this
If you’re just starting out, or a seasoned musician, do yourself a favor and check out music go round in Littleton. The staff are very knowledgeable, and professional.
UPDATE:
Store owner Jason followed up on his promise to resolve the situation. I stopped by the other day and Jason refunded the purchase in full and made this right. The receipt doesn’t mention needing to have original packaging for returns as Dan originally said, so the return should have been accepted within the 10 days we first returned but because store owner Jason did make this right in the end I am therefore changing my rating from one star to four stars.
Bought a sax mouthpiece for the saxophonist performing for an event I hosted. The mouthpiece was defective and she was unable to perform meaning the trio could not perform either. We took the mouthpiece back the next day and manager Jason would not accept return of the defective mouthpiece even with the receipt in hand claiming it there was nothing wrong even though the saxophonist is a top performer in the area. We would expect better from a nationwide chain.
Great place to look for used gear! They have a decent selection of everything especially if you have kids! and the employees are nice. I’ve sold a few thing here and I’ll say they offer the absolute lowest price they can when you don’t take store credit… If you have something to sell and need the cash quick it’s great otherwise you have to be looking to trade for something in the store for it to be worth it.
I had high hopes but just wasn’t impressed. Compared to the Aurora location, this store falls short.
The guitar area was decent with everything displayed nicely but the biggest disappointment was the amps. All the amps we’re covered in dust and we’re absolutely filthy compared to any other store I’ve been to. NONE of the amps were plugged into the power strips so you had to ask for all the cords and power cables just to try anything. That made trying to really test the sound of any guitar a nightmare.
The acoustic room was decent but everything good was locked up so one really couldn’t try much without assistance.
The keyboard section was ok but they definitely needed to be cleaned and at least plugged in for one to try.
The glass cases displaying pedals, audio interfaces, microphones and other accessories was good and decently organized.
All in all, it’s an ok store, but some serious attention needs to be paid to the presentation of all items, ESPECIALLY the guitar amps. All items need to be thoroughly cleaned and then put out on the floor with proper presentation with included power cables so every piece can be tested by the customer. No one wants to have to ask for all the missing pieces just to try something out.
Inquired about, and tested an amp, (The Roland Bolt-60) it wasn’t acting correctly so I mentioned it to them. It appears to have some grounding issues, making noise from filter capacitors most likely, as well as issues with the pots. I was still interested in it, however rather than correct their advertisement and pricing, or repair the amp, they told me to forget about it and that they wouldn’t be repairing it.
If this is how they handle broken products and continue to sell them in states of disrepair. This might serve as a good warning. I would worry about other products without completely testing it, and potentially having a second opinion.
Nice selection of instruments. Prices are on the high side for used equipment. But what really cemented my decision to never go back is that, of the five employees in the store, not one approached me to see if I needed any help. Save your time, money and effort. Go to a different music store.
I implore all parents who are considering using this business for their child’s band or orchestra needs to re-consider and look at other options-and YES! there are other options! (this place works overtime to make you think otherwise!) This place will rip you off! I went with Kolancy’s for my 2nd child’s needs-they are more reputable and professional by far, and they actually care what condition their instruments are in when they leave the store!
No Scott, I won’t respond to you, I tried to have things rectified while at your store and you and your employees couldn’t have been any more dismissive or rude, but somehow now you care? Oh, I see, others can read this. Also, my bad experience happened at YOUR store Music go Round, not Music and Arts. I hope others read Joshua Fenner’s review as well since it perfectly captures what other parents and friends
have said they also endured as a customers over the years. I might have to drive farther for instrumental needs but it is well worth it!
18. Tabor Opera House
Address: 308 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
What an amazing piece of history ! Wish I could have seen a show here ! Took the tour and the guide was totally knowledgeable, could answer any questions. Can’t wait to visit again !
Great night of comedy!
One of the main attractions in Leadville, CO. It is preserved and doesn’t look refurbished at all, old rustic look. They still have shows so it’s a working Opera House.
I never been inside
Very cool historic building, like so many other things in this town. Don’t forget to hit up the old antique shop. To get a feel for the old stuff that used to be new is like traveling through time.
Great tour and a lot of history. The only negative is the multitude of steps. Hope they get funding to restore the Opera House to it’s glory.
19. Castle Rock Music
Address: 429 Wilcox St, Castle Rock, CO 80104 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
Venham visitar, cidade acolhedora e com diversos passeios, alem de um ótimo outlet
Great staff. All very nice and welcoming. I have bought a few guitars off them and they were all high quality and good prices. Great teachers also.
This is a great place to go for lessons and repairs. I have family members that take lessons here, and the staff is very knowledgeable and kind. I have brought multiple guitars in for repairs and they do it well and in a timely manner. The prices are very low, and the service is great. I have nothing bad to say about this local business, and suggest that everyone go check it out!
It says castle rock band store but it’s more of a Guitar store there’s no other instruments.
I don’t see why many people are giving this place bad reviews, as I have good experience with it. I take guitar lessons here and the mentors are nice. I do feel a tinge of hostility towards me from the front desk workers, but they do seem approachable. I’ve never gone through a repair before with them, but that’s because I’ve never broken a guitar. If it weren’t from the tiny bit of hostility from the workers I would’ve given this place a five, in my experience and work with them.
Singing lessons for our daughter is wonderful. The process is good, prices are acceptable, and the venue is nice.
The shop itself is cute and quaint, but the selection is only very low end. Nothing of value at all. Not even cheap name brand equipment, but just low end non-name brand stuff. No biggie I guess, and I’m sure their selection is ideal for what they’re going for, but you would think at least one Fender or Les Paul would be in there. Haha! Nope. I’m speaking about guitar/bass/amp selection.
Overall, a good place and great for kids or first time people.
Skip this place. Was playing an ukulele and the guy working ran over saying “Ask me if you want to hold anything. That’s why it says it right there on the tag.” I didn’t see it since my sight isn’t great. I just put it back and looked around a little more. During that time he was certainly trying to upsell this girl on some junk because it was “limited edition!” It seems like he assumes everyone who comes in doesn’t know how to handle an instrument. I’d rather hit other local shops that don’t treat their customers like they’re five years old.
Took my mandolin in for a relatively simple repair several months ago. Picking it up today because they are too incompetent to fix it… or call us and provide us with that information.
Went to pick up my boyfriend’s mandaline just now. I don’t appreciate being interrogated through petty attempts of guilt.
“I’m so surprised your nice in person, you left such a scathing review.”
I don’t like you guys. It took 6 months and 3 calls from me before I got any update on this instrument. “We tried to call” … ‘In the last month.’ was conveniently what you left off, and I’m annoyed at the audacity that you couldn’t take a review I didn’t even write and decided to confront me about it like I’m the misinformed idiot.
I wasn’t going to say anything, but maybe next time you’ll learn to shut your mouth and keep some business.
UPDATE: The cost of the repair was $10 and they gave the mandolin back to me in about a week and he did it for free because of my interaction at Castle Rock Music. Every expert I talked to had a suggestion. 3D print the piece for a temporary fix, find a junk mandoline and scavenge, or just give it to someone who knows what they’re doing, etc… Not a single person said the fix was too expensive or hard. And I didn’t get an awkward talking to when I went to pick it up. Amazing.
20. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Lake County , Colorado , United States
I have had excellent service for some years. I got a free sticker for a new instrument case. They have also repaired my clarinet plenty of times. These repairs have lasted for years.
Friendly, prompt, very reasonable estimate on instrument repair.
They did an amazing job restoring our family’s old violin.
Came in to by reeds and the F-H staff was very helpful and reassuring to my 11 year old, who is just learning to play saxophone. They answered his questions (and mine) and he left feeling much better about his prospects than when we came in. Thank you so much! P.S. Miss you on Tennyson but the parking IS way better at the new location.
Like always the services people were just great.
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
