Probably the best guitar store my son and I have ever been to (including Carter Vintage). Super friendly and helpful staff. Amazing gear! We will definitely be back!
Great selection of records and guitars. Overall great experience.
Best experience I ever had buying a guitar. Everyone at Big House Guitars are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and, friendly. Buy your next guitar here and you will thank me.
Beautiful collection of guitars on sale and consignment, plus a pretty decent record shop!
The staff was very friendly and very attentive. All the gear seems to be in great condition, but overall the prices are a too high for this musician’s budget. Watch out for that undisclosed “checkout fee” 😉
Had a lot of records that haven’t been put out or put in sections.
I can’t say that I have been in this place, and most likely will not ever visit, since the owners think it’s appropriate to use FOUL LANGUAGE in their Craigslist postings. My kids like to peruse the musical instruments ads on Craigslist, and I for one do not appreciate them being exposed to that kind of language on a public and FREE classifieds board. I am currently pursuing the matter with CL.
Disregard, disrespect and unprofessional…
I had a horrible experience at this store. They told me it would take 7 days to change the strings and when I went to get the guitar it was just as I left it. They didn’t even touch the guitar.
I wanted to buy a Gibson and didn’t buy it because of my bad experience. They missed an opportunity for additional business, and I will never visit this store again.
I do, however, recommend Maple Street Guitars which in my opinion is the best guitar shop in GA. I was very happy with my experience there! They`re professionals.
I don’t like writing negative reviews and try to work it out in good faith before. I spent a LARGE sum of money on instruments at Big House Guitars and got burnt. Upon the inspection I (luckily!!) requested, the $$$$$ vintage Les Paul turned out not to be true to representation (only 1 PAF pickup instead of two … oops, sorry for the mix up!). I still decided to proceed and worked out a deal including several trade in instruments. They simply didn’t honor it: I received one guitar with cracks, which they half-assedly tried to pin on UPS before telling me it was like that when I tried it… Nice! They never took my guitars agreed as trade-ins, leaving me on the hook for selling them… I called Russ the store owner many times, who ghosted me, leaving me to receiv lip service by email from the crew. VERY disappointed. It’s a cool shop and the guys seem friendly. But sadly, I wouldn’t buy anything ever again from them. BUYER BEWARE.

What an Amazing place something for everyone..ask for Carson best service this man has ever had …wish I could give 10 stars
This is THE place for electric guitars and amps. Thank you George Coats and Atlanta Discount!
Really good instruments and place to replace strings for guitars
Great place to hang out and try out some cool stuff. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Pretty cool guys.
Ok people
Bought a mic cord there a few months back , tried to return it but they said it wasn’t theirs, no receipt,
I know it came from Atlanta Discount, the guy acted like I was some kind of criminal,
I’m 59 years old, been playing for 50 years, don’t need the disrespect man, no wonder Guitar Center is kicking their ass
Don’t drop your amp here for repair. Paid close to $200 and when I got home, the amp still didn’t work. Total rip-off
They weren’t very friendly or helpful with what I was looking for. Their prices are actually higher than most other places I’ve been in. My advice would be to shop for your musical items somewhere else.
4. Earthshaking Music
Address: 648 McDonough Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30315 , Lama , Georgia , United States
The Best Guitar Shop, period. The best staff. Always an awesome selection of cool, quality, and often eccentric instruments. This is not the kind of shop where the clerks are cold or curt and too cool for school. Eric spent a huge amount of time with my kids, let them watch his expert skills soldering a pickup, and helped nurture their love of rock music, talking Kurt Cobain with my 9-yr-old. I’ve bought three guitars here over the last ten years and lots of gear. As a younger guy, I recorded a few tracks here, too in their very cool recording studio. Diehard Earthshaking fan. One of those hidden Atlanta gems that makes our city shine… worth the trip!
they real cool and friendly” recomended ”
Solid.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great instrument options for guitars and percussion. The location is not the best part of town; otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
Overpaid for a guitar setup only to receive my guitar back without cleaning, sounding horrible and the cheapest strings on the market…as has just been verified by a Guitar Center tech…
There is a lot I like about this place, but there is definitely a problem with sexism here. The staff seems to be entirely white and male, and one staff member in particular has consistently been very patronizing to me. Without any prior familiarity with me, he consistently assumed I lack any knowledge or expertise. He told me things about my own gear as if I couldn’t possibly understand it on my own. He told me that I would be able to settle on one type of guitar I liked once I had “some experience.” At one point, while trying out a guitar, I noted it was out of tune. I was about to tune it when he quickly took it from me, saying he would be able to tune it faster than I could. (This did not turn out to be true. He actually seemed to have some trouble with the amp’s tuner.) This particular employee has been there the last few times I’ve been in, and from other employees I’ve experienced a remote surliness. I understand this is the traditional culture of music stores, but I personally am not interested in participating anymore. It’s a shame, because I think the store has a good selection and good prices, and it’s in my neighborhood. But until the culture at the store changes, I’ll unfortunately be using ebay.
We were looking for a pre-owned Taylor or Martin acoustic guitar. We’re from out of town and had somewhere to be so we only had about 25 minutes to look around. At first everyone was nice while we looked around, both of our kids are involved heavily in music so they spent their time there trying out instruments to which the gentleman attending (I could assume owner) was kind and attentive. Until we turned down sale of a keyboard, at which point he decided to approach my autistic son while on a small drum kit and scream at him for being too big for it. I’m no fan of leaving places in handcuffs, so I didn’t cave in his face, I decided a well deserved poor review and exposure to the public what a peice of trash he is would suffice. Trying Dirt Cheap Music nearby instead.
*update following response from the owner
It is fair to say that your employee had a right to address the issue, but screaming and belittling an autistic child isn’t the way to go about it. Furthermore, my initial feelings of rage as a protective father are quite normal and my decision to take a more appropriate route is not something I am ashamed of in the slightest. Neither of them damaged anything and nothing was kicked or struck with any kind of force by either child. You responded defensively and completely missed the point. To scream at the child in an aggressive manner, autistic or not is unacceptable and the employee could have delivered the exact same message in a better tone and achieved far better results. I honestly can’t imagine any scenario that aggressively yelling at a person in your store achieves any positive results.
5. Guitar Center
Address: 2480 Briarcliff Rd NE Suite 13, Atlanta, GA 30329 , Lama , Georgia , United States
Had a drum issue while out on tour and as luck would have it. This location actually still sold drum parts and saved the day!
Lots to choose from, for music lovers its a playground. You’ll love
The most of sale’s guys are nice and the manager is very nice. I am very impressed because they are honest and sincere. They care about customers and our needs than what they can earn from us. They are willing to give us discounts if we are not happy with something.
Wish they had a larger drum selection.
All I can say is “meh”. Yes this place has a lot of instruments to choose from but they seemed to be lacking employees. I wandered around and saw maybe 3 people. Most of the midis didnt work so I couldn’t try them out before choosing one which sucks cause I was ready to buy. Instead I went online to watch videos and choose one that way. Otherwise they do have a large selection to choose from, and the place was well organized.
Big box music store, with just about everything. Not a place for anything that isnt a standard name brand. The Best Buy if music stores.
Customer-no-service…The store website inventory is incorrect on Casio keyboard power supplies. I was in the neighborhood and dropped by to pick up item. I was told that the inventory on the site was incorrect and that I should call next time before stopping by. That was it! No checking about or at another store etc…I worked at music stores for years. Never treated a customer with such dismissal. I did business as a customer and working musician at this location. Both prior to this store becoming Guitar Center and prior to it’s last make over. Dark interior now, minimal staff, less product and custom service. I hold gift cards given to me by family and friends. No more doing business with this store and to tell my friends and family in the future to forgo purchasing me these gift cards…Sad state of a business model and affairs!!!
I’ve been playing music for over 20 years and I’ve been shopping at Guitar Center since I started. I’m a music school graduate, was a music teacher, and am in an active project. I also play SEVERAL instruments. But I will NEVER go to this location, again. Not only did NO ONE speak to me, until I went to the counter to check out (despite wondering EVERY INCH of the store for 15 minutes) but an employee (who was walking a customer I guess they actually CARED about to their car) just let the door close in my face while I attempted to walk out with an armful of stuff! For me to spend money here, as often as I do, and still receive this kind of treatment is 100% insulting and there are too many other ways to acquire music gear without subjecting oneself to this god-awful excuse for a business! DO NOT SHOP HERE! You’ll just get dirty looks and ignored the entire time you’re there!
I had a very bad experience with the guitar department personnel such a bad attitude and service.
