Holy hell this place is awesome. Walked in and these guys were hanging hard while also keeping it professional and being super helpful. Great inventory. I fell in love with a tele but unfortunately had to break her heart and go with an acoustic that I could disappoint anyone who hears me at any campfire with. Not only would I buy a guitar at Music Go Round, I will join them in their great fight to spread love and light around this incredible, but flawed world we live in. I will fight the good fight with you Music Go round. What an inspiration. I’m in tears writing this. Love is the answer.
I absolutely love Music go Round. The staff is always super helpful and so friendly! I have found so many amazing cymbals there for crazy cheap! I just bought an amazing Zildjian cymbal from them and they gave me a killer deal on it. Thank you Music go Round!
This is a great place to get good value for used gear without the time and trouble of listing on Reverb or Gear Exchange. In my experience, Brandon and his team have always been friendly and helpful.
Nice service, but if it wasn’t clear enough yet it’s mostly just used gear and selling used gear, nothing else really.
Pricey stuff. But good condition. Great service. Would love to go back and see what else I may want to get in the future
Pretty cool…!!!
Had good experiences in the past here both buying and selling but chose to offer me $200 for $1500 worth of bass gear. At least guitar center offered me 50% of the total worth. Avoid if you are selling. If you are buying check EVERYTHING over as much of the wind instrument stock has issues.
EDIT: Went back last week to trade another guitar. The salesperson claimed that the neck was twisted (so they of course couldn’t buy it) which was debunked later by a good luthier. I really want to like this store but they don’t employ honest people.
A little pricey for used
Good music store but don’t sell them your musical instruments – they value everything on ebay and offer you less than 10% of its value. Offered me $50 for a very old German violin which I sold on craigslist for $800 which was about the value of the instruments I could see them looking at to compare against on ebay
3. Boomer Music Company
Address: 3761 S Mason St, Fort Collins, CO 80525 , Larimer County , Colorado , United States
Great same quality as always. I can always find what I’m looking for. And if I can’t find it, they have wonderful staff to help.
My wife shops there all the time for piano books for her students. Friendly staff.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. A real gem for getting easy and affordable access to musical instruments, equipment, and lessons.
Boomer music seems to be a decent place for instruments. We went for a percussion set (bells+snare+ stand.) when we first arrived there was this awful smell from the overcrowded amount of people, and nobody was willing to help, and when we were, we were told that the “bell kit” costs $400 and the “snare kit” costs $400. Sounds way overpriced
Especially considering that normally this would cost around $400 for a full percussion set, not $800. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Amazon percussion kit costs around $300. Overpriced for the amount.
I went there to get my trumpet fixed and they said it would be fixed by 1 hour. The employees are polite, and I recommend this place. Thank You.
Great selection of music!
Go anywhere else but here!! They quote times for repairs that are so far off. My daughter has waited for her instrument for a month (when it was estimated to take 2-3 weeks) and they just told me another 2 weeks.
They told me I didn’t need instrument insurance for normal wear and tear, and then stung me with the bill that was equivalent to insurance anyway.
This is not the only music place in town….go find another place!
I wouldn’t get a gift certificate for anyone from this place… My husband tried to use his after just a few years and they wouldn’t honor it!! It makes it hard to support locally when things like this happen.
Find an alternative place! Owner is not reasonable businessman. Zero stars if there was one.
I took 2 guitars in yesterday. Mine had some buzzing frets and I wanted a clear pick guard installed on my daughter’s. I went to Guitar Center first. The staff was decently friendly but nothing exceptional. All the staff looked super young. The guitar tech’s name was Alex and he also looked very young. (That’s ok if they know what they’re doing, but my experience here suggests that they don’t.) I was quoted $10 for installation + 7.99 for the pick guard. Fine. But after the “tech” looked at mine, he quoted me $120 for a full fret level and recrown with a 2 week turn-around time. That didn’t sit right with me so I took both guitars and went down the street to Spotlight.
At Spotlight I was greeted much more warmly. The first employee looked at my guitar immediately and said he didn’t think I needed a full fret level and recrown but he would have to get the repair tech over to check for sure. The tech came over shortly thereafter. He found the buzzing frets, pounded them back down with a hammer and adjusted the truss rod. No more buzzing! On to my daughter’s guitar, the clear pick guard was $6 and he installed it for free while we watched. When he was done I asked if he could make the action a bit lower for her so he adjusted that also. I walked out having paid $11.95 for what I wanted done to BOTH guitars when Guitar Center wanted more than that just to put on my daughter’s pick guard. I will never go to Guitar Center for repairs again. I probably won’t shop there, either, unless I really want to buy something that they carry but Spotlight doesn’t. I wish I had gotten the guys’ names.
The staff at Guitar Center is either incompetent or taught to be dishonest to make more money. Either way I’m not comfortable trusting them with my precious instruments. Take your guitars to Spotlight!
Spotlight Music is a great place to start for all your music needs. Rob and Jen provide a perfect experience. Rob has the understanding to help you select the gear you need. I was amazed at the time and care that went into my purchase. No pressure – in fact the opposite – take your time and make sure you are getting the guitar that’s right for you. So you get great service and then the prices seem to be below web prices. From my short time at Spotlight, I see a music community that provides all facets of expertise. Fort Collins is lucky to have such a great shopping opportunity.
First of all, they have the best selection of guitars, basses, and folk instruments in Fort Collins. Second, They have the BEST prices! The staff are true professionals and know their trade. Third, They reset a fret on my mandolin that was sitting high for FREE.
I will continue to shop here for anything relating to real music, these guys are the real deal!
nice selection of guitars and equipment ,and associated equipment … of string’s piks & suff!
The atmosphere is friendly, and this is clearly not a corporate chain establishment. Unfortunately, they no longer carry Taylor guitars.
.
I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Do you have a tech available (a number of guitar stores – including Guitar Center – say they don’t have one anymore) who could do the work? Would love not to have to drive up to Cheyenne or down to Denver. Thanks.
Really frustrating! Customer service is non-existant!
Good place to buy a cable or some other basic stuff but do not use for luthiery. They took my bass with a promise of fixing it in a few days. Several days later they told me they didn’t have the parts and I’d have to wait weeks longer. The best part? One of the employees was checking the availability of the parts the day I dropped it off. They just chose to wait a week before telling me. As I was on tour, I had no choice but to pick it up and deliver it to another luthier on my route. I just wish they had told me the truth from the beginning.
I came to Spotlight to pick out a starter violin as an adult learner. When I Arrived, the crew seemed friendly enough, but were completely unknowledgeable (about anything other than guitars) and not of much help. I probably shouldn’t have bought a violin at this point, but I needed one to begin lessons so I went for it. I was told that the store has a 7 day return policy, so I figured it was all good. I happily bought my violin and went home and had my first lesson. In the short time I began to figure out more of what I was doing, I decided I needed a larger violin to fit me. I took it back to the store before my seven days were up and was told, “This is a commissioned instrument. We can’t return or exchange it.”
NOBODY EVER TOLD ME IT WAS COMMISSIONED NOR DID IT HAVE ANY TAGS OR MARKINGS THAT WOULD SUGGEST SO.
Also, when I bought it, the fine tuning pegs were put on backwards and upside down and it was not strung my anyone who knew what they were doing. You’d think as such “professionals” they would inspect the instruments they put on the floor. After all of this, they never offered any consolation for my waste of a $250 violin plus the money I spent at a real music store to fix it. I guess I should have just known it was commissioned through magic or something. Don’t waste your time. If you want to deal with professionals, head to Boomers Music Company, Music Go Round, or hell, even Guitar Center. Literally anywhere. A pawn shop maybe?
Thanks, Spotlight, for your fantastic customer service.
5. Piano Dude, LLC
Address: 1404 W Oak St, Fort Collins, CO 80521 , Larimer County , Colorado , United States
I have had a wonderful experience with Mike from the beginning. He was prompt in returning emails and calls when I was interested in the piano inventory. My beautiful Piano was delivered quickly and no damages occurred. Also prompt for the piano tuning, he contacted me first for the reminder. I hands down recommend his services. Such an easy process and very convenient.
Highly recommend Mike, not only did he find us a great piano at a great price, he is always responsive and accommodating for service as well. Thanks Piano Dude!
6. Cloverlick Banjo Shop
Address: 1208 W Myrtle St, Fort Collins, CO 80521 , Larimer County , Colorado , United States
I have been going to music & Arts for the past few years now, and the staff there are always incredibly helpful and kind. Both of my children have taken lessons from their instructors and loved it. I also have to mention that they did a great job adapting to the new environment of online learning due to COVID. They continued to provide great instruction despite having to do it over the computer. I appreciate Music & Arts and will continue to go there for any musical needs!
Great service! Definitely recommend it you need repairs on band instruments for your kids!
I love this place, always available for questions and they love music!!
The staff are nice & know their products.
Got a speaker that came without a charging cable for some reason. They gave me a new one. One of the employees even went above & got a part I was looking for. Out of curiosity & to have something in the store. No problems with the store whatsoever. And I’m a hard please Lol
My daughter wanted a ukulele for her birthday, but we were apprehensive about going due to covid. Yesterday we decided to shop for one, so we drove to Fort Collins. She shopped around and found the one she definitely wanted, a kit that was tagged for $79.00. She was so excited, smiling ear to ear. We went to check out and the clerk stated, “Sorry, that price is incorrect it is $99.00, inflation you know, do you still want it or did you want to look around some more.” Really??
I called the store and spoke to an employee, and on today’s date, the situation was corrected.
The store personnel is great and very helpful. However be wary of Music & Arts rental billing policy. I attempted to return a rented instrument no less than 5 times during March and April 2020, but the store was unattended. I called the store no less than 20 times as my credit card continued to be charged in April, May and June. I stopped payment from my credit card and after returning the instrument in July they are expecting payment for July as well. This is unreasonable policy and I suggest renting your equipment elsewhere.
The store was fine but we had to order online and they have the absolutely worst customer service EVER!!! They are rude and zero customer skills!!!! Do not I repeat do not order from them online!!!!!!!! You will regret it!
I’ve got an 1893 M.Hohner Harmonica that’s been needing some work. After contacting just about every music store in the Fort Collins/Northern Colorado region, I found absolutely no one who could help. Finally I was referred to ZEN HARMONICAS created by Graham Elliot. I left him a message and he got back to me almost right away. Not only was he able to work on it immediately but he did an excellent job cleaning and adjusting it. In less than 24 hours my harmonica was ready to be picked up. It is in AMAZING shape. It has never played or felt this good. Graham was super friendly and very insightful and knowledgeable on the instrument (hard to come across folks like this) and the price was absolutely reasonable for the repairs. I highly recommend contacting Graham Elliot if you have any harmonica issues or need any customizations, he is suited to fix all types of harmonicas; old or new.

Love this place. Good selection!
Connor is amazing! You won’t find better customer service or a more knowledgeable staff anywhere! They always go above and beyond!
\ice guitar store! and accessories !decent prices? often. new and used!\
Really nice service and best of the line products
Went in on a Tuesday, right after open to grab a pair a drumsticks, it took about ten or fifteen minutes to have someone approach me to ask if i needed help. I just needed someone to hand me a set of sticks. supposed to be a two minutes visit, turned in twenty minutes. Sticks work great lmao
Needing a new set of Diaddarrio EJ26 guitar strings and was told they stopped making them and was supposedly replaced by a more expensive set. Beware these scam artists!!!
These guys said they fixed my gear. None of it was fixed or broke down within 2 months. I will not have these people work on my gear. I suggest Appleway or the store in Greeley. Totally lost my respect for Guitar Center in general. I gig in 3 bands. Sweetwater here I come.
Went to 3 guitar centers in 3 different states over the course of a week to replace my banjo strings and each time they said their guy is out until tomorrow. Why even open if no one there can even replace strings?

Great store. Super friendly. Lots of gems in the crates!
Very Cozy Place to shop for vinyl records and other materialities. Shop owners/employees were beyond kind. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the spacious areas to browse. Will be our first stop for vinyl from here on.
One of the most eclectic record stores I’ve had the chance to explore, the owner is so genuine and has a vast collection that continues to grow and offers to place special orders for prices that can’t be beat. A new favorite of mine for sure.
20. M A Bashkin Guitars
Address: Door G, 1400 E Olive Ct, Fort Collins, CO 80524 , Larimer County , Colorado , United States
I have an inexpensive Seagull guitar which needed a setup since they are known for their high action. Michael did a quick review of the guitar and then told me the status of the current setup. He suggested a “standard Martin setup” which addressed the major playing needs. I held off on other more detailed work since the guitar is an entry level one. He took two days and charged me $60 for truss and bridge adjustments. He also cleaned up the nut which had a burr or two. The guitar now play so much easier and cleaner that it almost feels like a different instrument.
Wonderful work! I will definitely bring all my guitar work to Michael.
And yes I can now play F chords with ease.
Thanks Michael
Very happy with the service here. I brought in a brand new Fretlight guitar with a poor setup. Same day I had my guitar back and it is now much easier to play.
