If this guy could craft guitars as well as he crafts excuses for his chronic laziness, he might have a good thing going. After a year of waiting and a $1,500 deposit for a custom guitar, Bruce tried pawning off a second-rate, 20-year-old used guitar on me. I feel sympathy for this ailing washed out old character, but due to his mentally imbalanced deceitfulness, abject meanness, and thorough absence of professionalism, I’m choosing to post this aggrieved review. Quality Rarebird guitars are very rare indeed. Bruce’s craftsmanship and business prospects are dead and gone. I was kind to you, Bruce, and the way you treated me was despicable. Rest in peace, Rarebird.

Great place to get your music needs filled , gifts and Cundy is very helpful.
You can also find JNM music items at the Junction 50 Galleria in LaJunta and Vendors Gallery in Lamar.
Bought a guitar there and am very happy with the quality and price. Great local store.
Little shop, big selection of guitars. The staff here are friendly and have lots of great stories to tell.
Not a great place for drum-related items.
Very friendly, courteous, helpful..with good advice. Not pushy.
I’ve had several guitars set up at Mountain States Musical in the past. The work was well-performed and done quickly. I wish the review ended there.
Recently (as in this afternoon), I took two guitars in to have them set up. When asked where I got them, I truthfully said I got them both on the Internet, one as a brand new instrument from an authorized Fender dealer and the other as a used private party sale. The new Strat needed basic intonation and action set as well as having some sprouting fret ends filed down. The used Dot needed just intonation and action setup.
Immediately after this, I was quoted $125-130 each to do the setup work on them including a $90 “up charge for Internet instruments.” When I asked why the up charge, I was told it was because most Internet instruments are junk and are tons of work (paraphrased) at which point I packed up the guitars and left.
While I can understand charging more money for more challenging instrument setups, where an instrument was procured doesn’t really factor into the equation. A Fender Strat from Musician’s Friend doesn’t require more or less work to set up than a Fender Strat from Guitar Center (and in fact they’re the same company).
I’m very disappointed that I’ll probably have to take these guitars to another shop to have them set up since I’ve been happy with their work in the past. I won’t be returning.
These guys got all the guitars. that’s about it, a couple other instruments.
Jim and Jesse are really helpful, and a great selection of guitars.
Been by there half a dozen times, can never catch them open.
No marching drum sticks.. No practice pads….

My sister and I both play bass clarinet, and every time we need a repair, they always get it done in a short amount of time! The workers are very nice!
Very helpful, ordered my item and called me when it came in. Karen was friendly and professional.
Had my mouth piece i needed.
Real friendly, I would of given them a 5 but we drove 2 and a half hours and the man that repairs the instruments is on vacation.
Great place to get your music! They have amazing products and variety
My family has purchased many instruments from this provider, and I still got stiffed. I traded in 2 moderate level open holed flutes and put an $800.00 deposit on a flute and the owner stiffed me. She charged me full price for the flute and did not even give me a trade in value for the flute that i traded in. I am almost 100% certain they also gave me the wrong flute. I paid this flute off, but i am extremely upset.
Please reach out to me to me for different instrument providers. I live in Colorado Springs and there are several places up here that I can provide to you!
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!
Dropped off a clarinet for servicing. Waited 2.5 weeks and herd nothing from this shop. Went on to check on it and was told the man that does the work on instruments was out and it would be a few more days. Waited another week. No one called us. Went back to check on it and was told he would look at it in the next 2 days. Waited 3 days and no call again. Went to the shop to pick it up. Told them someone was supposed to service the instrument and it’s been a month we have waited and no one has even called us. The lady just stood there looking lost. Almost like she didn’t know where she was. Take your instrument elseware to have it serviced. This shop needs new management, badly.
Good takes from this. The shop is very clean and neat. The people that run it are very friendly. I really hate to see such a well maintained LOCAL business in this shape. I do hope they can correct whatever is weong internally.
The repair man still hasn’t fixed one of my pads after I’ve tasked l taken it in multiple times
I found my new Luthier always went to G C for my bass work but Kevin’s gone So now I go to Elledge John will take Care of you .
Nice owner. Friendly place. Very helpful.
Really nice man who’ll help you with anything owns this place. Been in Pueblo forever!
It’s great when they are open, but there have been many times when I show up well within the store’s hours (3:00) and they have already closed for the day. I would give them a full five stars if they stuck to their advertised hours.
I called, and inquired as to whether he purchased instruments at his location. I am new to the area. He responded “that’s why I have a music store, to buy and sell instruments”. When I gave him my instrument model (custom Ibanez in wonderful condition), he responded again by changing his statement. He said “I have too many instruments, I only want to sell”. I don’t leave reviews often, but this seemed necessary for future shoppers here.
Be open when you say your open.
Music store is very messy with a poor selection of instruments. Repair shop is questionable.

I have been in a few times and have always been treated very well. Thank you for the great service.
Great shop for all your local music needs. I shop there whenever I need something. Great customer service as well
Bob is awesome to work with and very knowledgeable. Has a great selection of used equipment.
Nice Selection of instruments, courteous service
Bob was friendly and helpful
I will never do business with them again. We had taken an alto sax in for pad repairs and it too over 2 months to be repaired and then were charged outrageously for it.
I have personal issues with the owner/operator
Do not bring your instruments here for repair. I brought my violin in to be repaired and it was completely ruined by the worker. All it needed was for a small hairline crack to be filled. Instead, the repairman decided it would be better to sand off the varnish and stain which is impossible to replace and match to the original. Although I liked the store before this experience, I cannot forgive this kind of decision making. This would have been avoided if the repairman had simply told me how he planned on repairing the violin, but he did not.

This is the place! What a nice guy and what a guitar builder!!
I was sold a beautiful Telecaster set up beautifully and for an excellent price.
The absolute best part is that I am supporting a small business owner who is also a rocker! This is what we should be doing with our lives!!
But from mike and by a lot!!
Thank you Ike, Andre from Texas
Didn’t even know that we have a music store here. He went above and beyond helping me work on my guitar. I will definitely go back and I would strongly recommend anyone who wants to learn to play to check it out.
