Probubly the best experience of my life!!!
I love this shop.
Fun selection, awesome, helpful people.
Good music store, good instrument’s, but not much parking, and the location doesn’t really give the business the store front draw!
Friendly staff, good selection of instruments.
Great
I ordered the bass a year ago in this shop! But so far, they can not send me a bass and do not return the money! What are the problems? I do not know! And nothing intelligible do not meet!
Dan Ernst Owner of grand central music is a Scum Bag with a Capital S.
Bought a roland jx10 from him in feb 2013 said he had it professionally cleaned cause one of the keys did not respond.( shoulda took that as a sighn right there that this would go south.)
Got the roland a week later patch buttons did not work cardtridge port was busted cause he shipped the cardtridge inside of the synth and the internal battery was dead.
Talk to him about going to repair man he got upset and said his repair man pro clean it and made sure it was in running order.
Took it to repair man costed 166.00 he begrudglingly said fine send him receipt.
So rapair man did two weeks go by no response.
The owner is a bs’er and a finagler.
Do not support.
Do not trust.
Eventually we will cross paths Dan.
Thats not a threat.
Thats a promise.

Address: 1574 Soquel Dr ste g, Santa Cruz, CA 95065 , Le Grand , California , United States
Hard to find a cozy shop like this in other cities. The staff were really cool, and my friend got to test out one of his dream guitars. Have some strange string instruments and a good selection of pedals.
Incredibly easy to work with. Vast array of quality merchandise. Fair, honest, responsive. Richard is a true professional and knows his stuff. Handled a significant transaction flawlessly and got the guitar in my hands cross country expeditiously and at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended!
The kids loved it!
Staff is always friendly. Wish there was a little more selection.
Very knowledgeable staff. The prices are a little higher than other stores around for the same item, but they also have more higher end items. Almost exclusively guitars, very little of any other instrument.
I called asking to hold a guitar I really liked a lot until I could get there THAT SAME DAY…they said ok, no problem, it is on hold only for me. When I arrived THAT DAY a salesman said they sold it THAT MORNING. I felt very disappointed.
I really tried to give this place a chance. When I ask for help, the staff gives me the distinct feeling that I am wasting their time. The selection is not good, and quite frankly I did not feel welcomed any of the times I have gone there.
I’m an older woman who plays electric guitar. Have purchased top-line new guitars there and sold some equipment there, and they did the job. But I have never been comfortable there. The boss is angry, curt and dismissive and the staff doesn’t seem relaxed or happy. There are unwritten rules about how long you can stay, what you can touch etc. Not for me any more.

Address: 9163 E Stockton Blvd #310, Elk Grove, CA 95624 , Le Grand , California , United States
The Yamaha yas-23 saxophone was delivered to us today and we took it to the band director to check it out. Everything is good. It is in very good shiny condition. Thank you very much for selling us a great, well-taken care of instrument. Also, wanna thank you for always responding fast and efficiently. I have talked to a couple of Music Go Round stores before yours and both times, emails go back and forth so slow that by the time I get enough info to make a decision the item is already sold. Thank you for the always swift reply.
Good guitar, greater price and fast delivery. What more could you want?
I’ve spent a lot of money at this place and they always ship quickly and do a great job packing up your instruments. Highly recommend! A+++++
Music around is a great store to shop for your musical needs being used, and sometimes use instruments are the best that’s your already collection that you have. The people there are amicable and helpful. If you are a beginner musician, shop there first before shopping at any big-name stores.
Prices too high.
Although it was my first visit to the store, the staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Good vibes and very reasonable prices. Not your typical commercialized music store. Great experience I will shop there again.
2 times aI buy online
2 times I had to call and after telling me the guitar is being put in the back for shipping and telling me how nice the guitar looks they canceled my order so ether the employee decide to keep my guitar for him self or decide to big fat sell them to some one after he lie about getting it ready for shipping for me !
Im supper mad at this liars hope they go out of business!
Bought a Saga Masterclone banjo from here. Neck was loose. Would not tune right. Took off the neck and put it on right. It still had buzzing and intonation problems. Tried adjusting it out but no go. The banjo has a great tone and I wanted it to work. I was assured that the banjo was ready to play before I bought it. Took it to a shop to find the problem and was told the truss rod was stripped out. I already suspected that. Let them know and no answer. They knew this was defective but sold it anyway. My order number is #M142824. Beware. They won’t stand behind their products. If it’s good when you get it fine. If it ain’t, your screwed. I would give them no stars.
I purchased a casio keyboard for my son birthday last month! The keyboard did not last a month! Very disappointed it stopped working! I went into the store to let them know what happened and all they can say is sorry! Don’t ever purchase anything from them..
4. Lightning Joe’s Guitar Heaven
Address: 100 E Branch St, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 , Le Grand , California , United States
They have a good selection in all price ranges. Run by a knowledgeable staff
Great staff, good prices
Went into the shop today and found that they were very busy. That didn’t stop Joe from immediately addressing the issue with my custom made ukulele. What a sigh of relief when he started in working on this very special uke. It took him no time to sort things out and I was on my way. When he told me how much it was going to cost, I was taken aback. I was more than happy to pay twice what he asked for. Someone with his knowledge and experience would have been justified in charging much more. He made my day!!
Friendly staff and great selection of guitars.
Good selection, great staff, very helpful and informative.
Cool shop with a decent selection (as long as ukes, mandolins, and guitars are what you are looking for!) I was seriously in danger of walking out with (yet another) resonator guitar. And I’m not sure that danger has completely disappeared…
The prices are good for some things, a little marked up for others. But nice layout, selection, and service, and it feels good to support a smaller, local business.
Bought the Dean Soltero honey flame burst from there. Half off of 800.00 so I should’ve known there had to be a flaw in it. I was so stoked that they fed off of that knowing I’d most likely buy that guitar, I assumed they just wanted to get rid of that older model. Took it home and noticed a buzz towards the 12th fret and on and on both 6 , 5, 4, and 3 strings. Raised the saddle and bridge a bit but still a buzz. Took it back a day after the 3 day return policy because it was my only day off that week. and the owner proceeded to tell me it was a environment thing that the change in temperature made the neck bend. He adjusted the neck but still to no avail. He went on and on as if To tell me I didn’t know what I was talking about and insisted it was the weathers fault. Still spent close to an hour trying to adjust the truss rod but still did not remedy the buzz. Then he kept telling me I play too hard on the strings and that he couldn’t hear nor feel a buzz, almost to the point where he was almost implying that I was stupid. I kinda alluded to exchanging the guitar but he insisted it was me. Needless to say I loved the guitar and had hoped it can be fixed. Now I moved a good 10 hours away from SLO and I’m stuck with a guitar that buzzes no matter what I do. Nice selection of guitars though. Curse this shop if I can’t get this buzz out and end up having to take it to a professional. Buyers beware.
I have lived here all my life, and I went into this story for the very first time just the other day, because my son plays guitar now, and we needed a new string. The women that works there was very rude to my daughter, she stayed with me the entire time, and she knows the rules (don’t look with your hands, look with your eyes) my daughter is very well behaved, she is homeschooled and suffers from a rare illness that has caused her to grow up allot faster. This women obviously had it out for my daughter as soon as we walked in. She followed behind us the entire time, and if my daughter even looked like she was about to touch something she would jump right in, and either push her hand away, or tell her to not try to touch it…. finally right before we left my daughter was looking at a little table with guitar strings attatched, she strummed one string one time! And the lady grabbed her hand shoved it away, and said don’t touch, you don’t know what your doing!! Ok? Ok? Ok? Say ok! My daughter said no thank you and turned away. The lady said no thank you? Really?….the only reason I did t leave sooner was because they had my sons guitar, but I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER go in their again, that lost my business and anyone else I know that plays instruments!
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN PURCHASING A GUITAR OR ANYTHING FROM GUTIAR HEAVEN!!!!! a “JOHN LENNON REVOLUTION CASINO #338 OF 1965 WAS SOLD TO ME IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,459.40 PLUS TAX.
THEY TOLD ME IT WAS COMPLETELY ORGINAL AND I HAVE E-MAIL CORRESPONDENCE TO PROVE THIS!
COME TO FIND OUT AFTER SEEING OTHERS FOR SALE, THE CASE THEY INCLUDED WITH MINE WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL CASE FOR THE GUITAR! IT DID NOT HAVE JOHN LENNONS ART WORK ON THE CASE!
I FEEL SO CHEATED AND ROBBED!! CONFRONTING THEM ABOUT IT THEY SAID “SORRY WE CAN’T HELP YOU”!!
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU USE CAUTION WHEN BUYING SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE “IN ORIGINAL USED CONDITION”. ACTUALLY I WOULD ATTEMPT TO FIND THE PRODUCT ELSEWHERE AND FROM A ****REPUTABLE DEALER****!!!!!
5. Music Go Round
Address: 944 W Robinhood Dr, Stockton, CA 95207 , Le Grand , California , United States
I discovered Music Go Round searching for a used Joe Trohman Squier Telecaster online. Before ordering online, I called the store asked some questions and was given a bunch of helpful details. The person I spoke to was knowledgeable and friendly and had recently setup the guitar (I believe it was Tim). After that I felt much better about buying a guitar I could not try, which was to be shipped across the country (they are in CA, I’m in MA), so I went ahead and ordered it online. The price was reasonable for a hard to find guitar. The guitar arrived in about 1 week and was extremely well packaged. It was in perfect shape. I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a brand new set of strings on it. It was well setup, great action, great intonation, etc, and plays great. I had a couple follow up questions and emailed the store and got timely responses to my questions from Tim. Great customer service.
A total lifesaver.
Super professional. I called about a listing on their website, and they immediately knew not only the model but the specific product in question. They test their products when they get them and before they ship them out and include real photos of the actual unit in their used listings! Everything they did assured me i’d be receiving the right product the first time, and sure enough that’s what happened. I’ll be back!
Great place to rent violins and other instraments
Always something different.
Small store with new and used musical equipment. Repairs and lessons available.
Limited selection.
Sorry won’t be doing anymore business I sold my practically new guitar barely used like really barely only got $30 including carrying case like really. You are still making profit off of it and the bag. I guarantee you will sell it for $80 not including bag.
My son wanted an acoustic guitar for his birthday. Unfortunately we picked the wrong time to go because some old dude who reeked of pee was jamming out on base. Hard to hear what an acoustic guitar sounds like with that going..oh well..took our business down to clancy’s
No acknowledgement, waiting for someone to help and no one ever came. No one said I’ll be right with you. Was there to purchase a good guitar. I suppose the other people wasting time and talking their ear off was more important. All we heard was “thanks for coming in” as we walked out empty handed.
6. Foggy Mountain Music
Address: 104 W Main St, Grass Valley, CA 95945 , Le Grand , California , United States
Very helpful and reasonably priced.
If they don’t have what you need, which is rare because they have everything, they out of their way to make sure they can get it for you.
Mary Ellen and the guys are awesome
Cool local store
Great guitar lessons. Great deals, they price match guitar center too! My son got a gorgeous electric guitar for Christmas to upgrade from his child-sized Ibanez, and the customer service was great.
Foggy mountain is a good little mom & pop music store they have all your needs and wants and if the don’t they can order it , they give back to the community and I’m a firm believer that you should buy where you live so if I have musical needs I always start at Foggy Mountain I like the employees and the owners are good people . Worthy of a stop in and I’m sure you’ll return over and over
While it may seem like a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, the store offers a plethora of instruments and other musical paraphernalia. Music lessons also offered!
Owners are rude
Drove there on Sunday, as Google said they were open. They were not.
Absolutely terrible service. POOR selection of instrument strings (they never buy them) They’ve fired their most charismatic workers. The owner/”manager” will ignore you if she’s on the phone. Had an amp in there for six months that was more broken when I got it back, than when I brought it in, due to their “guitar tech” Steve. Worst music store in North California, if I could give zero stars I would.
7. El Dorado Hills Music, LLC
Address: 873 Embarcadero Dr Suite 1, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762 , Le Grand , California , United States
Cameron and his team are extremely knowledgeable and have a healthy selection of instruments. The team are super friendly and accommodating. A+, highly recommended.
Cameron, the owner, is really nice and helpful, not to mention he knows what he’s talking about
Very knowledgeable and nice owners
Their music selection was a bit small but they had everything I needed at a very reasonable cost.
Did not have a kazoo
The line was crazy long and they were extremely under staffed.
8. Tim’s Music
Address: 6818 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA 95608 , Le Grand , California , United States
This is the place I go for sax maintenance and music. The staff is always helpful and a pleasure to just talk music when time allows. It’s easy to find, very clean, organized, has good parking, and has friendly knowledgable staff.
Great family owned business. Store is always so clean and inviting.
The tech at Tim’s did a minor repair while I waited – actually TWICE. (I carried my soprano in last week for a neck cork). The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and they allowed me to play some saxes while I waited. Today, they even got one out of the back of the store for me to play. A very pleasant, enjoyable experience.
Friendly staff and adequate selection for student musicians.
Great locally owned music store. Nice variety of instruments and a good repair shop. Knowledgeable and friendly staff!
I think his name is Aaron, super helpful, friendly, and goes out of his way to be informative. If I can give stars just based on him then it will be 5. Unfortunately, the other front person, female late 20’s not so much. There was also an older technician that was so nice and helpful, I give him 5 stars too. Stars taken away was for less brand choices, price point, and less instrument choices. I think their main focus is school band instruments. The place looks clean, and they have enough staff to assist.
I have purchase and rented instruments here before. This time, five different staff said they would help, apparently what I wanted was not in stock and instead of letting me know, all left me waiting. After quite a wait we decided to leave. Someone caught us leaving and took our number to call and figure out how we could get ahold of the instrument. That was over 8 weeks ago, my phone never rang. They’ve lost a loyal customer.
This would be zero stars but a plug is warranted for John Doolittle’s sax lessons at the store of which I availed myself a couple of times. Zero stars involves me taking my alto sax there for repair. It’s over 50 years old but has had some restorative work done; fairly significant when I started playing again regularly about three years ago and more minor work several months ago and again following my unpleasant experience at Tim’s, the former by Kline Music and the latter by The Music Store in Rocklin. The guy at Kline is particularly known for his competence. The purported lead expert on reed instrument repairs at Tim’s told me my Selmer Mark VI needed a $1500 complete overhaul and they wouldn’t touch it for any lesser amount of work. The guy in Rocklin then fixed it for $65 and it plays just fine, as it did before it started acting up shortly before I took it to Tim’s. I played in church today and was complemented on my tone by their music director, who is a school music teacher and fellow owner of a Selmer Mark VI. An instrument in need of complete renovation obviously could not produce such a result. I got a different feel from the store than I did when I took lessons from Doolittle at the old location. Maybe they’ve bitten off more than they can chew financially but they’ve certainly lost my business.
9. Music & Arts
Address: 848 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740 , Le Grand , California , United States
It was fine, friendly, and quick. Store employee quickly got me what I needed. They sell individual guitar strings here, so tell them what gauge string you need, and the type of guitar it’s for. You can even build your own custom set of strings (gauges) choosing where to go thin, mid, or thick. Its a hidden gem.
Passed by this store on the way to somewhere else and made a mental note to stop in on the way back. So glad I did what a beautiful and fun music store! Kyle helped me and let me ask a lot of questions. I wish I lived in the area as I’d like to take music lessons. Thank you Kyle!
No longer named Gards. Still a very stocked music store. Friendly staff too! Came here for their colorful Yamaha Recorder
This Glendora Ca. store was condensed with easy to view merchandise, polite staff. Some real bargains in written music. Fast easy shop.
Nice staff, very welcoming and helpful
Really good deal on my son’s instrument. The staff was helpful and polite. The instrument was also delivered to the store location within the time frame that was stated, everywhere else has been delayed.
I had a flute and a piccolo repaired here. They didn’t do a good job. My piccolo was given back to me with hot glue strands hanging off of it and a small wooden piece wedged into a pad. When I complained about the piccolo, they simply clipped of the glue strands and handed it back. It was clear that they would not be able to make it better. I had to take the instruments to another shop to have them rerepaired. I won’t be back.
About 5 years ago I brought a recorder in and asked for a thumb rest for it. Instead of ordering the $5 removable factory thumb rest which was made for that model, they installed an ill-fitting 3rd-party metal thumb rest with screws that are so long that they protrude inside the barrel, so that if the thumb rest were ever removed, it would leave holes in the barrel. Worse, they charged me $65 for this junky little metal piece and the 5 minutes of labor to install it. When I complained, they blew me off.
I will never go back there.
I see that they’ve been acquired by Music & Arts, which resulted in a name change, but it sounds like it’s still the same folks running the store, so my review will stand.
The customer service I received at this store was fine given the circumstances. The review is for my overall experience ordering from Music and Arts.
I ordered two items that, according to the order page, were supposed to be shipped to this store and ready for pick up within 2-7 days. One item was ready the next day, but it took 3 weeks for the rest of my order to arrive. When I went to pick my order up, the first item was present, but the second item was not in its packaging. I waited three weeks for an empty bag.
If I had known that it would have taken three weeks to be disappointed, I would have rather have taken five minutes to look in the mirror.
