I’m an “Out of Towner” and was impressed by the selection and service here. Definitely recommend if you’re in town.
Absolutely love the store, everyone that works here is friendly and very helpful
Great selection and very nice staff!
Sold selection of craft beer and local liquor from CO
Nice store.Price for Jim Beam half gallon was almost twice the price paid at total wine and more in Palm Desert,CA.
Nice people, good section.
The gal behind the counter had an issue with my children being in the liquor store with me. As a single mom with a camper, I’m not going to leave them in camp or in the car. I’ll find another liquor store the next time I’m camping in Leadville.
It’s a liquor store
Very condescending behavior for a liquor store…not sure why that was nessecary.
3. City on a Hill Coffee & Espresso
Address: 508 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Fantastic spot. I had a perfect americano, a mouthwatering sandwich, excellent tunes, friendly staff, and the gracious use of wifi surrounded by beautiful local wooden art pieces.
Delicious, fresh croissants. Get there early!
The coffee is really good, even the decaf, and so many flavor syrups available! Specialty drinks or regular coffee, pre-made items are very good, vegan and gluten free options available.
This is a nice coffee place, with all sorts of coffee/beverage options, as well as a nice supply of food and desserts. It’s a comfortable environment. They also sell some mountain-themed knickknacks that tourists will probably enjoy. Friendly service. Don’t necessarily rely on the bathrooms, though – once when we were there a guy took forever in the men’s and he seemed to have been shooting up.
Lovely location / interior in a genuine mining town. The cappuccino was not really convincing despite coming out of a proper espresso machine (tasted burned). Both cookies were dry. The staff was not really friendly or charming, felt more like they just wanted to get their job done and head home.
Good ice cream and cold coffee drinks.
Took 50 minutes to get an iced coffee!! The girl at the register was exceptionally rude to customers. They made drinks out of order for guests. I do not recommend at all!
Cold Brew was very bitter tasting so I exchanged for an iced latte which was basically a glass of cold milk very little coffee
Lady behind the counter was rude and service was slow. We waited an awfully long time for cold, overpriced pastries.
4. Leadville Liquors
Address: 1619 N Poplar St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Tight little store to get stocked up on party goods!
Great staff also, super friendly.
Friendliest staff around. The drive thru is fun. Always fully stocked and the pricing is way better than their competitors. We love the squatch outside, and the new lights that were hung recently look fantastic!
The best LQ in town. Great fun staff
Friendly staff, didn’t have my brand of wine.
The Lady that works there is wonderful & nice! The Man is very mean & protective over the restroom even if you’ve already bought something & happened to ask the Lady if you may use the restroom.. There is a sign that says private but asking & gettin a yes its right there trump that sign?? Sadly the have lost a costumer & maybe other.. Good Luck to them!!
Plenty of parking for snowmobiles and campers and drive thru window to help handicappers. Friendly staff all you could want products
The staff puts out tip jars because they think ringing up your purchase is a challenging personal service.
Kinda salty guy charges me 3$ more than advertising price in case even tells me before charging my card 8.00$ that it was 5.00$ then he keeps my reciept and stutters up that it wrung up different well pal it was just a price no bar code BUYERS BEWARE
Leadville Liquor carries expired beer on the shelves Mt. Massive Liquors is far better and cheaper. When I notified them that the entire stock of one particular beer was expired by 4 (FOUR!!) months. I was told they are unable to remove it from their shelves and that their only choice is to sell expired beer for full price because it’s just “out of our hands” according to the owner whom was extremely rude throughout the entire conversation. They just wait until someone doesnt check the expiration date to charge them full price. I’ve lived here in town for 3 years and go to the liquor store 2-4 times a week. Will never go here again. If the owner had just been cordial and knocked a couple bucks off an already 10$ six pack I wouldnt even be upset and would still go here. I can see why the place has had all their longtime employees quit in the last couple months. Customer service isnt difficult but for this Liquor stores owner it certainly is.
5. Matchless Treasures Thrift Shop
Address: 623 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Great place – awesome people – cool stuff – amazing prices
Definitely some treasures to be found in here. Also, the woman working behind the counter was very sweet.
Very helpful and staff. They have “a little of everything” there- tables, dresser, amazing wardrobe, dishes, skiing stuff, golf clubs, clothes… Great place to go check out!
Decent selection and fair prices.
Some decent deals, but I have never been to a thrift store that isn’t willing to sell things, I mean seriously isn’t that the point? Sell everything you can for more space for new merchandise.
There were 2 sewing machines built into desks! I would have been tempted to buy 1 but there wasn’t room in my vehicle.
The upstairs was seasonal merchandise when I visited.
I purchased a high altitude cookbook & a book on local cross country ski trails. I paid with cash to avoid the surcharge that is placed on card transactions under $20.
Hello I just drop on outside the door in thrift store my stuff for donation about 3 plastic bag white thank you have a great day
Super crowded and cluttered. If they priced their stuff lower and more reasonably, they would sell more, make more of a profit, and be able to keep up with the donation demands. Nice staff, though.
6. The Western Hardware
Address: 431 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Loved this antique store! What an amazing selection of all kinds of interests. We found many great pieces for outdoor lovers. We were looking for things to decorate my husband’s man cave (hunting and fishing). They had great prices and selection. Don’t forget to look upstairs too! The ladies were amazing who worked there and were attentive to helping us with opening display cases and such. Highly recommend!!!
This mall is loaded with a *huge* variety of antiques and things of interest, set in an old hardware store that has a lot of history itself. In addition to the large downstairs, 10 more rooms upstairs. I cannot emphasize how expansive the collection of items here!
I love this place. Been coming here for years! We always find treasures. And the staff are so helpful and friendly. A must visit on your list.
Cool stuff, but pretty pricey.
A nice place to browse.
Was exponentially better under the old management. Candy is all gone. Employees are severely crabby and overworked. Still, great selection of antiques.
This place was good. However the young girl with brown hair was extremely rude. As soon as we walked in she didn’t even greet us. She just informed us when they would be closing. She seemed annoyed that we were even there. We had our children with us, we travel a lot and always visit local antique stores. Our children are really well behaved and know not to touch anything unless given permission. My husband was showing our son a tiny baseball bat and said you can’t swing it! Next thing we know the young girl working the store yells at us “don’t let your children touch anything”! My husband told her “it’s fine I told him not to swing it if anything gets broken I will pay for it!” she continued arguing with him so we decided to leave immediately. It was embarrassing and sad being treated this way, because we pride ourselves on our children being well behaved! So don’t go in here with children even if they are well behaved. Also this is my first review ever, that is how bad our experience was!
They Hate dogs at Wesren Hardware Antiques. Our little dog has always been welcomed into hundreds of antique stores from coast to coast. They threw us out of their store as soon as we walked in. They expected us to leave him in the hot car in August. We will Never come back!
My husband and I went into the store and found quite a few things we wanted to purchase then we saw on display a derogatory vulgar bumper sticker regarding Texans ( where we are from), when brought up to the staff they laughed and said so what. I told them I was offended, handed them our potential purchases and walked out and shared our story with our fellow Texan friends- no one in our group purchased from that store and won’t in the future as well
7. Before & After, Coffee & Cocktails
Address: 612 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Super cute coffee shop with yummy snacks in a historic building.
Might just be the best bar I have ever been to run by the best bar tender to ever make me a drink.
The food is amazing. A great drink menu with quality sports. And the service great! I am very impressed.
Delicious drinks for a fair price. The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing. I ordered some wontons and they were awesome! But I wish the food menu was more transparent by listing how many would be served. I spent $10 for 4 wontons ($2.5/wanton)
Our server Dani was the best!
Great cocktails but the service needs better training. Our waitress came over once to ask us if we wanted drinks and never asked again. We ordered a burger which tasted great but took an hour to make and didn’t even come with a side. We also had to get up to get the check because our server never came back to check on us. Could be 5 stars with improved service.
Unfriendly and bland. Good for Vail tourists that got lost.
Eh, nothing too special. Maybe better for tourists. The inside is super cute but for covid safety, seating is very close together. Should have sat outside. Pretty clean at least. Mocktail was ok, just came from a can. The menu made it seem like it was supposed to be mixed with something else. I had chips that I thought were homemade, but it seems like they just dump a half bag a store bought chips on a plate and charge $6 for it. Same with the avocado and crackers. The sandwiches/rice bowls might be worth it but I’m afraid to try.
8. Family Dollar
Address: 1100 Poplar St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
The organization is pitiful; many shelves are empty as if the whole town made a dash on supplies before a storm…except its ALWAYS like that. Boxes and carts of stuff block aisles and items are in places where they shouldn’t be.
Some things are cheaper than Safeway but some things arent.
Employees are relatively friendly, however.
The store is a mess! The stuff is nice!
Store is messy and hard to find what you’re looking for. Check-out time took longer because cashier left to find another employee.
This place is awful literally nothing on the shelves
Very cool historic building, like so many other things in this town. Don’t forget to hit up the old antique shop. To get a feel for the old stuff that used to be new is like traveling through time.
Its a beautiful piece of history
Gorgeous feels like you’ve stepped back in time. If you get a chance the tour is fantastic
11. Earl’s
Address: 115 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Friendly people. Compared to the other places available this place knows how to treat their customers and employees.
I’m fed through a picc line (I have sever crohns and my stomach is dead) and they gave me so much great advice ad was very friendly! I highly recommend Earl’s if you’re in Leadville, you won’t be disappointed I promise! They actually were the only place that had a strand I was looking for Trinidad to Leadville! I’ve been in several dispensaries and this one is by far one of the BEST!! Thanks to the sweet staff that took the time to talk and explain things to me about my disease!! I WILL be back and y’all made my week, I couldn’t of asked for better people to help m out!!
Friendly and professional staff. Awesome deals and good selection. You feel like a friend here not a dollar sign.
Great deals and flower. Durban Kush.
Not bad for being 10200 feet in the sky!!! Enjoy! The best to you folks
What can you saw.. they got the goods.. Pricing is to be expected for a very rural area.
Sub par weed way over priced
Went in for the prices on the website. Everything was marked up with a tax when I arrived. 🙁
Very “can I take your order” type of place. No salesmanship at least from my budtender. Just my experience bot saying the store is bad.
.. lol imagine back in the day saying to your connect “yo lemme get a dime”
You show up and he says that’ll be $12.75.. that’s how it feels. Feelsbadman
Sorry to say everything we bought from there made us physically sick & we still have the flower & the sugar wax & cart please be careful
12. Pastime Saloon
Address: 120 W 2nd St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
French dip sandwich was delicious, the fries and onion rings were cooked perfect, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Pasttime is our go to bar in Leadville! Sascha is an excellent bartender with a fun sense of humor. Incredible cocktails at very reasonable prices. The food truck out back is also excellent. Definitely check them out.
Jen, Brent, Brandon and Jess rock! Great burgers, very cool, old western atmosphere with a roaring hot wood stove that will surely keep you warm on the chilliest of Leadville nights. One time, Brent pulled out baseball bat on an ornery customer who lept over the bar with lethal intentions. Never a dull moment at Pastime Bar and Grill.
food good price reasonable service good
Place needs a real bartender & maybe some music of some form. Food trucks outside was the bomb.
great atmosphere
Yuck!!! Burger not cooked and.mac n cheese cold.
Waiter didn’t come to check on table.
On a scale of awesome, tell your family about it, kick a$$ burger to a McDouble, these burgers were just “OK”. Obviously frozen patties and frozen french fries. Also there was a pretty good wait to get the meal. Mr. Krabs in the back was assuring everyone there would be a longer wait the more people who came in. Minimal beer selection, none on tap. 2.5 out of 5.
Sad
13. The Legendary Silver Dollar Saloon
Address: 315 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Great decor. Met some good locals who showed me around town. Had fun.
Great vibes – the photos inside are priceless!
This very old bar is the bomb!
Never closes and hasn’t closed for over 100 years. Very interesting history. Antique pictures on the walls tell an interesting history of early Leadville.
It definitely has character. Lots to look at.
Great historic bar!
Excellent old saloon feeling since nice 1879. Anthony is a great bar tender.
This has been deteriorating for decades. Last time I was there, I decided it would be my last. Worth going once to see all the memorabilia, but that’s about it now. Cannot recommend it anymore.
We gave this place Zero stars, but we had to give one star to post this review. The worst customer service we have ever had. From the moment we walked into the place, the guy working acted too busy to even take our order. When we got our order, onion rings, he brought them in a to go box. He was rude and unprofessional. WE HAVE NEVER NOT LEFT A TIP UNTIL GOING TO THIS PLACE!!! Would NEVER recommend The Silver Dollar Saloon.
The level of outright FILTH, the rancid stench of FILTH, the clearly visible appearance of FILTH had me do a near immediate U-turn upon walking into this place. Do I need to elaborate………..?
ps: This place IS so Leadville……… A beyond dirty, dingy filth pit of a dilapidated dump of a town.
14. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
I found what I was looking for, nice place huge selections
Tons of records as well as variety in musical instruments. informative and friendly staff. They cut me a deal for an electric guitar and amp. I highly recommend this shop
Everyone was super nice and helpful. The store was a little hard to find, but the rest was easy. I was afraid I’d have to drive to Denver to find a good music store, but these guys were much closer!
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Limited selection, average prices
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
Sells broken products. Very expensive.

Awesome service Awesome People!!!
…where everybody knows your name 😉
Good place to grab a drink and shoot some pool.
Great dive bar! Cold beer, loud music, pool!
$28 for 4 tap beers
Very cool relaxed atmosphere with the best pool tables in town
One of their bartenders smells so bad and gets ridiculously drunk. There are 2 other bars to choose from within a block. Go to one of those instead and save yourself the headache.
WORST BAR IN LEADVILLE, CO.
OWNER SUCKS!
Left Cell Phone on Bar. Came back 9:30AM to check on it. Owner was there and told me, “we open at noon, come back then!” I returned at 11AM and he threatened to call the police and told me don’t come back. Your phone will not be here!”
OWNER, YOU ARE A DICK!
1 bartender and the bar reaked. Smelt so bad we left within a few minutes.
16. Golden Burro Cafe & Lounge
Address: 710 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Omg the food is amazing and the service was as well
Very standard diner fare. Move along.
Breakfast was yummy
The Golden Burro exceeded my expectations. There’s very few full plant based options in the mountains, and to have a vegan retreat in the heart of Leadville is amazing. I will go to this place every time I come to Ski Cooper! The cheese on the fries could have been better melted, but the chile was fantastic. The Buffalo Chickn sandwich was outstanding as well. I also really loved the Trumpet Mushroom Rocky Mountain Oysters, they were tasty. It wasn’t a cheap meal, but ya know, inflation and you’re in a mountain town and it’s ALL VEGAN! It was really great and I hope they continue to thrive. The baked goods looked *delicious*. Will definitely be back this winter.
Slow service, tasteless food. Frozen vegies, frozen old pies, supposedly voted best of locally, must have been only one in the category, don’t waste your time or money
Waited for over an hour and a half for a table. Apparently, if you’re a local you get extra special treatment and don’t have to wait like everyone else.
We waited 45 min for burgers still didn’t have our food we were going on a sight seeing tour and ended up taking the food to go
17. Leadville
Address: CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
18. Old Tale Inn
Address: 207 Elm St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
This place was great! If I was back in the area I would absolutely stay here again. It was a convenient and peaceful location. The room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay!
Great place to stay, gorgeous mountain views and quiet location. We had breakfast at the Delaware hotel, it was excellent.
Very clean and modern, comfortable bed and pillows, close to downtown. We had a wonderful stay!
Very nice room, though the bathroom didn’t get the same update.. Access to a shared hot tube, fridge, and coffee station. Plenty to walk to. Would stay there again.
The location was perfect for my visit. Staff was friendly and the rooms were nicely accommodated.
We booked last minute for Christmas so we could have some snow instead of staying in Denver in the rain it wasn’t very crowded my fiancé and I where able to enjoy the hot tub great location to ski copper wish we knew our room didn’t have a mini fridge but the shared fridge works fine
I read the reviews on air bnb and they’re all great. We booked this room for our stay and we were excited. On the day we were supposed to check in they cancelled our reservation saying they can’t accommodate our needs. FYI we asked to check in earlier than 4 because we didn’t want to carry our things around. We came from far. They canceled on the day of the reservation at 12!! Horrible place! Horrible people. I understand maybe you can’t have us check in earlier but cancel my reservation after they pulled the money out now I had to make other accommodations. The very last minute is horrible. And they still had rooms available and still say they have vacancy. Horrible never again don’t recommend. Had to call air bnb customer service for help cause they were no help and didn’t offer to help us out on another room until almost 6! ( Iasked at 12 after they cancelled if they had other rooms since they charged us already) horrible owner and management I will be reporting them to air bnb.
When I arrived at the Old Tale Inn at 8 PM after a long drive through northern New Mexico and southern Colorado, there was no one there to check me in! There were no instructions on how to check in.
At the old tale inn Leadville, you’re on your own. Good luck, everyone.
The rooms are clean nice bed. The first week I stayed they charged me 412 dollars. I called and extended another week same room the guy never told me a price so I figured the same price but a couple days later got a receipt for 1100 dollars. Was told they would contact management but never heard from them. That’s stealing if you ask me
19. High Mountain Pies
Address: 115 W 4th St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Nice patio, pizza and toppings were generous and tasty. Salad was awesome and fresh, dressing was great
Great pizza and good service, although seating room is sparse. Outdoors in the winter would be brutal. Summer was perfect.
Love the pizza (and beer selection). Even though it is a small inside, the outside dining is fantastic provided it isn’t snowing.
Came here on my Colorado Trail thru hike. I was really impressed with the pizza quality. Some of the better pizza in all of Colorado, though that could’ve been because I was in the woods for so long
Terrible system for ordering and picking up. Waited forever in an extremely crowded small room where folks just elbow their way to the front to order. Chaos— you can keep your pizza if that’s how you’re going to run your business.
Saw several staff members wearing a mask below their chin in the kitchen and while delivering food to tables. Customers depend on you to keep us safe. This is unacceptable
Food was good, would come back after COVID-19
75 minutes for overpriced pizza?!? Wth
20. FREIGHT
Address: 320 E 9th St, Leadville, CO 80461 , Leadville North , Colorado , United States
Have barely had an intro to this place and I love it already. Looking forward to returning.
We were in town for 3 days to ride mountain bikes. This pet-friendly place was neat/clean with a great bed, great shower and great high speed internet! A microwave would have been nice.
Nice location for holding an event with catering. Very large featuring a bar, gives the vibe of a large old barn house.
Wonderful venue for a wedding reception
This was a wonderful place. The cabins are radiant heat and the windows open to allow fresh air. The venue was quite nicely appointed. The staff is very accommodating. The reason this facility did not receive 5 stars is because the mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable. The staff assured me that the mattresses would be replaced by year end. I would go back after new mattresses.
I’ve never been there for very long but their my neighbors and are loud all the time steal our parking spots and act snoobish
I have been very disappointed with the customer service at Freight. When I contacted Freight about potentially switching rooms to one with fewer amenities (their more expensive rooms have a table added), the person I was speaking to immediately said “well you can stay somewhere else”, then put the responsibility on the bride of the wedding. Hospitality 101 is to work with the customer and find some sort of accommodation, not to be abrasive and put your job on the guests. I made this request because I was randomly assigned to a room with a table I didn’t ask for. Freight charges an extra $30/night for having a table in the room (“Madam” cabins). I tried inquiring about this again at a later time when speaking with someone else and received the same rude treatment, and they again put the responsibility on the bride. That is not a good policy, as I would have to bug the bride who was dealing with planning a wedding, then passing this ridiculous mark-up on whoever ended up booking my Madam cabin. A reasonable and well-run establishment would have worked with me to remove the amenity or acknowledged I didn’t need it and make the stay worthwhile.
Some positives: it is a very nice wedding venue that is walking distance from the main stretch in Leadville, with a decent view of the surrounding mountains. The rooms also did a good job of keeping out noise. Being close to the Leadville train ride was a plus.
Despite the positives, I am not happy that I spent my money at Freight and do not intend to ever again. I had booked a different lodging arrangement but ended up back at Freight only as a favor to the couple getting married so that they could rent the whole property. Unfortunately, I think the owner does not actually have a background in hospitality and does not model well to their employees. Freight actually has a reputation in Summit County of having a high turn-over rate for their employees. It’s unfortunate because basic hospitality is a pretty low bar.
