Knowledgeable staff. Great help and wife variety of things.
Helpful
Really good selection and they were very helpful
Always good family business here.
Alright
Great helpful staff. Well definitely visit again for my next project
I went to Lincoln Hardware to buy a chain for my chainsaw they wanted $ 18.00 that’s $ 1.00 dollar a inch Oregon chain I went to Home Depot and purchased 2 chains for $16.98 .over twice as much for 1 chain.
Awful!
My son and wife bought a dog kennel from them and not even a month two panels messed up. The ower told them to bring the kennel up there so they can work something because he said that alot of money to be out of when they got there the owner wasnt there and refused to give them their money. Only you Ruben Pruitt will have to answer to God for taking advantage of two hard working people.
2. Ron Partain’s World of Music
Address: 1914 Cogswell Ave, Pell City, AL 35125 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
These guys are the best. Good quality gear at really good prices
Friendliest staff ever along with amazing service.
It’s a shame places like this will be going out of business soon. If they would have what I needed or was interested in like certain pickups or more interesting pedals and better guitars this would be an awesome place the last time I went in there the walls were filled with Nashville guitars and they had a couple good electrics but literally every acoustic guitar hanging on the wall was a Nashville guitar and I was looking for a Taylor or Martin but I’ve never seen anything like that in that store I go there to buy picks and strings but that’s only because they don’t have a guitar store in Talladega. When they don’t have pickups I need they asked me if I want them to order it but in this day and age I can just do that myself and get it for cheaper because looking at the price of the looper pedals they’re not buying them wholesale they’re buying them straight off of a website and marking the price up.. The people are super nice I hate giving a three-star review but I’m just being honest.
Wonderful music store.Friendly staff. Very helpful in supplying me with what I needed from instrument to private music lessons.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
3. Pilot Travel Center
Address: 75750 AL-77, Lincoln, AL 35096 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Excellent selection and reasonable prices. Something here for every musician.
Great place for electric & acoustic guitars with huge selection of amps also.Kevin is a wizard with guitars.Shop here before buying
Awesome store, very large diverse selection of fine acoustic and electric guitars. Many other fine instruments. I was just there for the guitars. The sales people here are very helpful and nice!
good staff well organize not bad products
Good selection of musical equipment. Be prepared because they strictly enforce the muzzle mandate inside. They make you wear masks.
This place is awesome, need customer service? DONE! Need a repair? DONE! Need to place an order? DONE! The only thing I did not like was the lack of extended range instruments. You will not be finding fanned fret, 28 fret, tap guitar, etc. You want those go to WARR guitars or order them off of a musicians website.
This place is as good as, if not better than, Guitar Center. But this one man that works there is not the friendliest and makes me and my music buddy never wanna come again… I was gonna buy at least $20-$60 of stuff, and my buddy was gonna get his guitar worked on, but we decided against it after our experience today.
My friend and I were playing our guitars together at moderate volumes. No louder than the other customers that passed through. Our volume knobs probably were set around 1. This rude clerk guy came up to us and told us “turn it down, there are customers in here”. When there was maybe 1 other guy in the guitar room at most. What are we, trash? Are we not customers?
Though to be fair, there was a little kid who sat behind us who was louder than both of us combined, and he was tremolo picking the most random nonsensical annoying noise (future shredder?), but he should’ve told the kid to turn down—not us. We both turned our amps off because he was rude the last time we were in the store and we were pretty annoyed at this point. But the kid turned his amp down and continued the random picking and the dude immediately came back and said “hey, okay, turn it off, that’s enough for today” and took the guitar from the kid. The rudest music store clerk we’ve ever encountered. There’s another guy who is super nice that works there who let us turn the volume up—at least 2 or 3 times what we did today—and test every amp in the store. We bought a $2,000 setup from the nice guy in the past, but this rude guy would probably kick us out of the store before we could make a purchase. I didn’t catch his name, but he’s average height, blondish, his hair is thinning, and he had a short beard. A nicer worker told us he’s been there 3 years, though I’m not sure how he’s lasted that long. He’ll probably follow you around like you’re a thief and ask if he can help you 8 times like he did to us the last time we came in the store simply to buy a cable.
I left my guitar with this store in February 2012 for a simple repair. In June it was still hanging waiting for them to repair. I had been told on multiple occasions that it would be ready in just a few days. I picked it up today June 24, 2012 and no repair has been done and I was still charged a bench fee. This place sucks. I will never go in there again. Good luck if you do.
I explained to them thoroughly what I needed and they sold me the opposite! It all about sells and f**k the customers needs! Stay away from the southside location!
5. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 4647 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Very knowledgeable and helpful. They had strings for a 1/8 violin we had been looking all over town for. Definitely the place to go in town if u need items for string instruments other than guitars.
I called and they didnt answear
changed to 4 stars because service isn’t as good as it used to be. It is now only ok. Was also very expensive.
Wonderful customer service
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT rent instruments from here. All they want is your $$$. I can’t begin to tell you what a nightmare it had been renting our child’s instrument from them this year for school. I wish I could give negative stars. The breaking point was last week when we returned the instrument but was charged another $90 for the month of June. ITS NOT JUNE yet!!!!!!
Schools have no business partnering with companies like this!
This place is a joke. I called and asked about a mellophone and was told that they had several from me to choose from. I get there and they had one that was new and one from the 70’s they tried sell me. I will stay with Bailey Brothers.
Very overpriced! I understand small business vs online shopping and major companies, but come on!
6. Guitars and More LLC. Cullman
Address: 103 2nd Ave SW, Cullman, AL 35055 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
We visited the store to find a bridge for my nephews guitar. The gentleman that greeted us went out of his way to help us. Excellent customer service.
Loved it
This store is affiliated with the store of the same name in Gardendale and has some of the same, wonderfully helpful staff! Prices are what you might expect from a mom and pop but I’m happy to support locally owned businesses!
Good merchandise friendly people good Price’s.
The people are friendly but the guitars were little high-priced in my opinion
Nice clean store
Not a good experience at all, they have rescheduled my grandson twice, mind you we did not miss any sessions, they rescheduled us and then just took us off the schedule period. Carried my Grandson anyway thinking he was on schedule and Sage came in 10 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early…making it a 15 minute session instead of a 30 minute session as paid for. Spoke really negative to my Grandson and then refused any refund for missed sessions that THEY canceled. My Grandson loves everyone but does not want to go back, I’m saddened that because someone is a child that they are treated with less respect.
7. Griffin Laser Engraving (Offical Yeti Dealer)
Address: 47762 US-78, Lincoln, AL 35096 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
I cannot say enough positive things about this business. They have engraved yeti cups and glasses for me. The quality is top notch and the staff has been amazing. They provide fast service and are so nice each and every time I have reached out. I’m not local and they have accommodated my need for fast shipping as well. Top notch!
Very friendly and knowledgeable!
8. B&C Music
Address: 314C Billy B Dyar Blvd, Boaz, AL 35957 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
If you are looking to by on the cheap, try larger cities. B&C has incredible service and knowledge. They may have to charge a bit more, but it’s not worth to drive to Nashville to find the quality and service.
I’ve know the owner Connie a long time good business. And a good woman
Excellent locally owned and operated business!
Nice folks
Eeeeh
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
The people are not friendly, the merchandise is overpriced, some equipment is not even new (and it is damaged) although they don’t disclose that information, and getting around in a wheelchair is next to impossible. The lady at the register didn’t know anything about the equipment. It is definitely worth the drive to go somewhere else.
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
9. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
I could talk to Bob Tedrow all day. And he would listen! Better yet, I get even more enjoyment listening to him. Jason Burns is a master crasftman, and treats every customer and every guitar with individual attention.
I hope Google reviews doesn’t have a word limit
After taking one of my guitars to ANOTHER music store for a relatively small problem with the nut, their repair made my guitar unplayable. I wasn’t about to take it back to the same place to be fixed, so it sat unloved in its case for almost 2 years.
While this guitar would not be considered a high-end guitar, it’s a very nice Takamine, with considerable sentimental value.
I took it to Homewood Music. After I explained what happened to the guitar, I was asked if I took it a certain music store, and man, it was the one I had gone to first.
I left it in the care of Jason Burns to repair the atrocities. This involved making a new nut, repairing the damage binding at and headstock at the nut, new strings, and overall setup.
While working on it, Jason noticed some other problems with the bridge saddle that he went ahead and corrected with new hand carved bone saddle. He didn’t charge for the additional work because it wasn’t evident and discussed prior. The craftsman in him just wasn’t going to let that guitar go unless it was right.
I can’t say enough good things about Jason Burns and Homewood Music. The workshop is the majority of the space and yes there are very nice inventory of stringed instruments for sale and trade.
I would say it’s a luthier shop that also sells stringed instruments, rather than a music store that sells instruments and happens to do repairs.
They treated me, a hack amateur, and my guitar as if I were a professional musician with top end equipment.
Go to Homewood Music!
It is not often that I walk in a music and have have the owner show so much kindness to me. I want to encourage anyone looking for a musical instrument to make sure you go to Homewood Music. They are great folks and will treat you right.. Mr. Tedrow was wonderful. Thanks
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
10. Martin’s Music
Address: 5000 US-280 Suite C, Alexander City, AL 35010 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Excellent knowledge and customer service.
100% would recommend for any guitar sales, service, or any of your other musical needs.
The owner is very friendly and willing to help you out. Can order things if he doesn’t have it in his store. Good place to go for musical supplys.
Andrew is great. He must be great to be able to teach my child how to play the guitar. He is very knowledgeable about music, and has lots of customers that trust him with their prized instruments for repairs and maintenance. Set ups are completed on all his stock, so if you stop in and a buy a guitar, it’s gonna be ready to play. Martin’s Music is locally owned and operated. Responds on Facebook really quickly, and answers his phone if you call.
11. Guitars and More LLC Gardendale
Address: 1128 Main St, Gardendale, AL 35071 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
I haven’t bought a guitar here yet, but the staff has been very courteous and knowledgeable. I have visited several times and the most I’ve spent is $60. Even though I haven’t laid down a lot of cash, the salesman recognizes me and greets me with a smile when I walk in.
Bigger selection than I expected
Went to get my daughter’s guitar tuned. Eric was super helpful, he answered all our questions about ukuleles and guitars. We will be back to buy more.
Great local guitar store. Eric does a great job running this store.
Friendly staff and good service for a small buisness . your go to place if you dont want to drive a 100 miles to Guitar Center store .
Nice small business. Very helpful.
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
12. Harmonic Strings
Address: 522 Co Rd 550, Fackler, AL 35746 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
I don’t have the proper words to Thank Cory at Ellis Piano for his outstanding Service, His Knowledge and expertise in the World of Pianos, it was a true pleasure dealing with him, his patience and commitment to helping me choose the right grand piano for me made me respect and appreciate him lot.
My Best Wishes to everyone at the Ellis Piano Family.
I love this place. They are always so helpful and kind. And because I am a teacher, I recieve 10%off. Which is so wonderful of them.
I cannot recommend Ellis Piano enough! Jason and his dad, David, were absolutely amazing through the entire process of piano shopping and purchasing! If you are in need of a piano (or sheet music) Ellis piano is hands down the place to go! It is clear that they take pride in their work, and that they want the very best for all of their customers!
my experience was questionable. they decide who they want …
The staff was friendly, and they have tons of pianos and other equipment to choose from. The space is enormous, and is fun to just browse. They also do repairs. Call or stop by for any musical needs. Would go again.
Nice, helpful staff
14. Alabama Music
Address: 2450 Mall Rd, Florence, AL 35630 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
This place has nice friendly customer service. Have been going here for years and will continue to return.
Greated when we walked in and helped immediately. They answered all our questions and took the time with my daughter to answer the questions she had. Great place and good prices.
They are so helpful and well informed about all music instruments.
It’s okay. Maybe a broader selection of guitars, but I understand sales and marketing.
Quality equipment large selection of strings Price is Right
Friendly staff
$35 for a flute cleaning kit? That says it all.
Researched music stores that “buy” instruments. This store popped up among others. Called store. A woman answered. She was cold & rude. I inquired & she said No. Their competitor also confirmed that they buy instruments.
15. Carousel Music LLC

Great experience
I brought a subwoofer to be repaired here and after many attempts are retrieval, the company “lost it” and wouldn’t call me back. If you like having your nice stuff misplaced and companies not willing to help you find it or replace it, then Carousel is your place!
16. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 1001 Commons Dr #2, Dothan, AL 36303 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Very helpful staff. They took time to explain the instrument rental policy and the actual instrument.
Very helpful people
Pretty good people and alot of music stuff
Prices were high
I am editing this review from 1 star to four due to the fact that I had to send my trumpet to the shop for the second time. Although extremely disappointed the first time, I must say I am very satisfied with the work done by Mr. Mike Rabig from the Montgomery store. Mike personally contacted me and after a short conversation, I decided to try a second time. My trumpet was returned to me exactly as I expected and was detailed in our conversation. I basically got back a “like new” instrument. Thank you Mike Rabig and the Dothan store manager Ms. Robin for taking care of my trumpet and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Do not recommend purchasing or renting your instrument through Arts. Their website tells the tale. No band instruments to browse or buy. Just links to credit applications.
Somewhere between the 90s when I got my first Trumpet and wife got her flute from them and now, they became a secured loan company that services instruments.
Their focus during our shopping experience was more on getting our bank account info and social security number in case we were to default on the loan. With questions like are you local? Oh your military? Do you have any relatives nearby? Leading to well we can’t accept just a debit card on file for this rental agreement.
It seemed apparent that not being local and being military is an issue for them. I have bought a trumpet outright cash from them recently and found it odd they kept pushing their rent to own program despite me buying outright that time. I now understand why. It is because they make more money through financing a beginner instrument at a padded mid range to proffesional price. Further they collect copius amounts of personal and financial information without providing full financial disclosures or truth in lending disclosures. I’m not a lawyer though so we’ll leave that for litigation.
If you need to purchase an instrument for your kid. You are better off getting financing through a credit union and purchasing out right. DO NOT give your information to Arts they are acting as a bad faith lender. This is predatory lending practices towards those who have no option but to finance their childs instrument. Pay attention to the fine print and lack of disclosures such as interest rates. Most importantly get the instrument model information and price it elsewhere. You do not have to succumb to pressure of buying at your school’s band night.
The most disappointing thing here is a business dishonestly leveraging schools, teachers and children to make a buck. Fortunately I have other options and means with more honest music shops.
My child has had his instrument on the repair shelf at scoggins middle school for 3 weeks (I even called arts) and no one has been there to repair instruments. We are charged extra for insurance through art when financing these instruments. So why are you people not going out and repairing them on Wednesday’s as promised? It’s just a lie to get more money out of the parents. I’d advise everyone to elsewhere and avoid this company if I were you .
Didn’t care for them
17. KFC
Address: 75835 AL-77, Lincoln, AL 35096 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Took my Son to eat after his football game. We received excellent customer service when we entered and while our order was being taken. He ordered Taco Bell so his food was cooked to order and was worth the wait because it was hot. We will stop here again the next time we travel that way.
Never get the order right and long wait to get food
Slow
It’s pretty good .
Don’t come here if you value your time
30min in drive thru. Doors locked for walk in.
Wait was 30 minutes for dinner
18. Fretted Instruments
Address: 2906 Linden Ave, Birmingham, AL 35209 , Lincoln , Alabama , United States
Excellent, down home customer service. Herb and Bailey treated me like family. Wonderful selection of quality guitars and also repair work.
Great help
Just passing through and had time to kill. Checked the internet to search for locations where I could find guitars for sale. After reading about my choices I felt this location would be worth checking out.
I found exactly what I wanted. Long story short……a place where the pure love of music was the reason this store was in business. Not a chance to make money selling things that are musical for the sake of an income. Making an income from serving those that love making music with fine instruments.
There was no attempt to ….. sell ….. me anything. Not by the talented young man working there, or the owner. If you want someone to make a fuss over you and do the typical sales stuff, this place may be to low key for you. It was perfect for me. I felt like I was a friend that they were just visiting with. I watched as they dealt with other customers and loved what I saw and heard.
After over a 2 decades of looking, I walked out with a guitar that they never tried to sell me. After I purchased the guitar, the owner proved I was justified feeling like I had been visiting with friends. He went out of his way to do something for me that proved he thought of me as one.
