The first time I picked up one of these when I met Stumpy Joe at a friends house, I had never played a string instrument in my life. Shoulda got a video, but I actually played a song on the first go! I am now a proud owner of TWO Stumpy Bass guitars. Had the original color first. Then I think I surprised my hubs with how fun it is to hear me jam, so he surprised me with a purple one!! I was very impressed by By the Bean/ Bean Sprouts food. Everyday there is a different menu with great dishes. I got a slider flight with 3 different types of sliders. Each one was unique but amazing tasting. I will definitely be visiting more

Very nice atmosphere, delicious drinks and pasteries. The staff are nice too, I don’t go here often, but when I do its a great experience. I can write in peace and the soothing music makes it better to do so.

Worst business owner I’ve ever spoke with. I drove from Springfield 40 minutes away for a item we talked about a day and time to pick up for him to be on his way to Decatur and make me wait 30 minutes for him to get back because he forgot we were meeting then for him to not even have the item or “couldn’t find it” as he said . I recommend you do not shop here , save a big waste of time and you having to hear ignorance . The owner is simply nothing more then a child .
I thought Mickey Tate was a nice guy. I bought things from him in the past. I had a bundle of games valued at 3.5k I wanted to part with ASAP. I asked Mickey if he wanted to buy it. Mickey wanted me to drive (1.5 hours to him) so he can look at it and test everything (over 400 games and various consoles). Mickey was out of town in Indiana and wouldn’t be back for a few days.
The bundle was listed publicly and a different man was interested and willing to purchase immediately with a blind offer. The man drove to me and purchased the big bundle. I advised Mickey the bundle was sold. Mickey freaked out and started spamming me about how unprofessional I am and how he will always piss off people who are “not fair”…
I used to have respect for this guy, but this incident really makes me question his integrity and temper. I won’t have anything to do with Mickey Tate or his shop ever again. This guy is a jerk for sure. Screenshots to prove it. I had to block him so he would leave me alone. I would not do business with him again.

Took the specific info with us, bass guitar make and model, and he ordered a case for delivery by Christmas. It came in and it wasn’t nearly the size needed. He implied that the fact we got the wrong case is our fault. Hmmmm. Not a good experience.
Expected better with all the, “Mark knows his stuff reviews.”
Showed up at 10am on a Friday when shop was supposed to open. Doors were locked and no one showed up while we waited. I suggest you call ahead to make sure they are actually open during the times they say they are.

Friendly service. Salesman help my husband and answered every question he had and they act like professionals.
Everything, but ESPECIALLY strings and sticks are ridiculously overpriced. John behind the counter has essentially no musical background. Seemingly, those who are more musically inclined work less. The instructors are awesome, but hiring them outside of the store would behoove both the student and the teacher.
If you’re considering trading in a used instrument with them, don’t. Use craigslist.
If you need to buy something new, do it at Linda’s. Better prices and more helpful staff.
REPAIRS. DO THEM ELSEWHERE. These guys will be decent to you on small jobs like restringing or intonation but a simple part replacement can be extremely expensive.
They are the only music store left in town so I try to shop there and support localy..but I was playing a guitar and the owner came up and took it from me and hung it up…no trying to help or assist me ..my sister has said he was rude to her before too. I will be purchasing from online or going out of town from now on.

Best place in town and in the surrounding areas to Thrift Shop. Staff is very friendly and very helpful when you arr looking for a particular item. Money actually goes to the local community hosptital and prices are usually reasonable, unlike most thrift stores which seem to charge as much as retail for the items that are donated to them. You can not beat their prices!!
I had a wonderful experience here, it could be a tad more organized but givin there is not a lot of space. The workers where nice and really friendly.
The staff at The Music Shoppe makes the entire experience worth while. I stopped in to get a piece of equipment repaired. I was greeted by a friendly helpful associate. I got a call with a very reasonable estimate and explanation of work a short time later. All the repairs were done to perfection. I highly recommend The Music Shoppe and Mary Anne !!!
Great service my son is learning guitar we went to buy a few accessories the gentleman that waited on was very helpful.Then my son broke a string and the gentleman that helped us was very patient when showing my son how to change them.
Took my Ovation in for some electric work & their guitar tech,Tony Williams notice that some other adjustments were needed & informed me. I told him to do what he thought best. And to say the least, not only did it sound great but also felt & played so much easier like butter! I fell in love all over again & enjoy playing it now more than ever!!!!!! Big Thanks Tony!!!!!

They’re expensive, the cables and accessories they sell will usually cost nearly twice in price, just go on reverb or guitarcenter and order online instead. Saving customers money. The place is fairly quiet for a music shop and they have great service and employees though, I just wouldn’t suggest buying any accessories or equipment stuff like cables for electric instruments.
Us as parents made a mistake about payments on my son’s sax so they did what there Right was and got it back so we went in and bought one from them paid it full out that same day we bought it they informed the music teacher to take it they were picking it up the following Friday so my son had it removed from him in front of his classmates just before his Christmas concert he was crushed at something he was looking forward in doing
we had receipt for sax which we paid cash for so with them doing this my son no longer wants to do band or music just because the people at the music shop if I could give them negative 5 star I would who would tell a music teacher to take away a sax that was paid for from a child for no reason at all I hope u go out of business?

They did NOT offer to heat up my pumpkin loaf and refused to replace it with a warm one.
My drink order was given to someone else and when I did get it, it was incorrect with not much of an apology. On top of that I was there a long time, probably 20 minutes.
We were on a 6 hour road trip & stop at this location quite a bit. Leaving a one star due to customer service. They had plenty of staff (though she said they did not) but they closed the inside and would not let my toddler & myself use the restroom. I’m done with employees not being empathetic to their customers.

I went in looking for some specifics, I had my own guitar with me, THAT I BOUGHT FROM THEIR PEORIA STORE, possibly to upgrade. Played a few guitars (with no amp, because who needs an amp when shopping guitars) to give them sometime to at least acknowledge my presence… no luck, so I stood at the counter where I could see the manager sitting and talking with sime dude about nothing… for about 5 minutes before I said screw it… never coming back to this location ever…. I’ve bought a total of 3 guitars and my father bought 4 and with guitar-mart on their assess, I’d think they’d try harder
We bought a new trumpet and paid over $900.00 a few months ago. When my daughters band director seen it, he said that is was not new and we had actually bought a used trumpet. I called them the next day and all they would do is an exchange. I have also heard of other people thinking that they were buying a new instrument, when in fact, it was used. We even found a tag in her “new” trumpet case that had another band student’s name and address.
