I was flipping a home and it came with a piano, i didn’t know what to do with it so i asked doug to come and evaluate what it was worth and to see if it could be tuned up. He took care of everything for more. Great guy.
Best Piano Tuner in the chattanooga area. Also does a great job teaching my daughter piano! Very reasonable prices 🙂
3. Wilson Music
Address: 3501 Cummings Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37419 , Lookout Mountain , Georgia , United States
Great music store and knowledgeable staff. Music lessons provided here are also top notch.
Great place to go if you want great service. I went to get some new strings for my guitar. I have an Applause guitar from the 70’s and it has a plastic back. Not only did they know this, but gave me options based on how much I played. I have been to guitar center but never came away feeling like they really wanted to help. These guys do want to help. If you value good service and supporting a small business, then go there and experience the difference?
Was in there today to fix up my grandfathers old violin. I had many questions. they were very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me out. I will go back!
Very friendly and helpful. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is limited inventory. Will go back.
kinnnnnnda rude. Was also bad talking about a regular for some reason.
The owner has an obvious issue with dealing with younger customers and has no interest in selling to anybody who doesn’t look like they have money. I went in there looking for a drum kit and he had no interest in helping me pick one or informing me about what they had. A guitar also fell off the wall near me also and the owner thought I’d done it, when really the whole mounting came out of the wall but he was very quick to huff and puff and act like a child. Would not recommend to anyone. Snobby owner with a attitude
I had attempted to sign my 11 year old son up for guitar lessons through Mountain Music and left a message with my contact information and why I was calling. No one ever returned my call and when I called back 3 WEEKS later, the owner, I assume, named Darren was less than helpful and unapologetic. He was very condescending and offered no explanation for not returning the call. Once I got the info and schedule, he said we could begin lessons when I gave him my credit card info and I would be billed monthly for the hour long weekly lessons. I was in my car and told him when I got back to my home, I would call and give him my credit card info but when I called, I got the answering machine. I left a message saying that I was calling to give him my credit card info. A week went by and I called once again to get a smug response from Darren, saying, I did not get a message. Finally, we were to begin lessons today at 3;30. When my son and I arrived at 3;20pm, there was a handwritten note on the door that said, “Back in a Minute”. Five minutes later, Darren opened the door and I told him who we were and that we came for lessons with Lee. He called him and left a message saying that we were there and we missed last week but came this week?? I immediately said, we were not scheduled for last week due to his lack of returning my call. We patiently waited until 3:50 and were not given an apology or explanation. I finally left, absolutely disgusted by the lack of professionalism and disregard for a customer! Darren was so unprofessional, rude, insensitive and insincere! My son cried when we got into the car and I cannot tell you how hurt I was for him and disgusted I was with the way Darren handled this situation! I will never return to that so called “business” establishment and I highly suggest that no one patron this establishment!
Very poor customer service. I was just trying to buy a cello string for my brother, and the person I’m guessing is the owner acted like we were an inconvenience to him as we payed his rediculously high price for a mediocre string. The other customers in the store were more helpful and knowledgeable than the owner was.
6. Picker’s Exchange
Address: 4316 Ringgold Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37412 , Lookout Mountain , Georgia , United States
One of my favorite places to shop and have my guitars worked on
The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable!
Excellent repair service. Clayton is fantastic!
Highly recommend!
Yes! Great selection and a repair shop too. They even offer lessons
Friendly staff but limited selection.
Good little guitar shop. Good for strings and picks . a few amps and guitars available. They also do restring and some repair. If you need that sort of thing .
I really don’t appreciate steel wool in my pickups, I hope they find another less dangerous method to polish.
When someone calls ahead of time and asks if you employ a luthier, and you say yes, you should probably have the necessary equipment required to make modifications and repairs to something like a guitar. A luthier technically can build instruments from scratch. Slapping new strings on, filing a nut, adjusting string height, relief, leveling a fret, and intonation is more in the realm of “Guitar tech” I probably wouldn’t be leaving a negative review if you had explained your limitations before hand and saved me a trip.
they tried to put electric bass strings on my acoustic guitar! get outta DODGE!!!!!
7. Dowda’s Records
Address: 4015 Tennessee Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37409 , Lookout Mountain , Georgia , United States
Great selection of genres to pick from. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable of the collection. I look forward to checking out again soon and listening to great tunes while browsing for records.
Great little shop, plenty of obscure and hard to find records!
Had this place been open maybe I would think it was great but when I visited during the hours both website and sign outside building said it would be, there was no one there. Had other locals at other record stores in Chattanooga say that it’s common for the owner to just open whenever that you can’t go by the times posted. Heard he had a good stash though. But
8. Dynamo’s General Country Store
Address: 2919 Cummings Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37419 , Lookout Mountain , Georgia , United States
I absolutely love the throwback to a simpler time with the General Store but it’s anything but General!!!! It’s truly a see to understand kind of place. Every time I go, there’s new inventory and I never leave empty handed!!
Chase is cool. He offered me a beer and let me listen to a Jeff Beck record. I found some Indian Nag Champa incense there. That stuff is hard to find. He thanked me for my service in the Marines.
High grade product and the best people in town running it!
I just visited Dynamo’s General Country Store and spent some significant time talking with the owner. I was impressed with the work that he has put into this new business. It is warm and welcoming and his selection of gifts and memorabilia are nostalgic yet progressive and I find the blend very interesting. The music and media was soothing and it seems like there is expansion on the horizon. I’d highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been, I think Dynamo’s has a good start. I was also greeted by his mini Aussie, Dale, and that just added to the warmth and sweetness.
Love the atmosphere and it’s a good place to drink coffee and just relax
Love the atmosphere, the staff are great, and they take care to make sure each order is done to perfection. Highly recommend.
Cute chic coffee shop. Great customer service. Delicious coffees and treats. Love the interior interior and the lofi vibe.
Good coffee, fast service, just a little over priced in my opinion.
Stopped by here with friends before sunset rock & we tried to Peaches & Cream Smoothie (AMAZING) and the Strawberry Banana Smoothie (good) , great service and atmosphere.
Great coffee and relaxing space.
The absolute worst coffee I have ever had. Got both my orders wrong. The flavor balances were off. Would not recommend.
Dissatisfied with service. Went Tuesday evening during happy hour. The guy working didn’t know anything about happy hour. Served our wine and then 20 minutes later came over and said he spoke to manager who said only 2 wines on list were 20% off and they were not the wines we ordered. I asked if there were any snacks and he said no. Then I read on the menu that there was a spinach and artichoke dip. Please train your wait staff. Very disappointing experience.
The service was wonderful but the coffee was awful. What I wanted they were out of (found this out after I ordered for clarity.) The barista attempted to make something similar and I honestly wish they were just like I can’t really make anything close. Because what I got was 1/10.
Atmosphere was pretty chill. Got our order to go. Also got a muffin that had the flavor profile of fresh sandpaper. The bottom was dry and falling apart and the top was sticky but not really sweet. It was an abomination from the Lovecraft school of Bakery I’d presume.
My matcha latte was fine. For 23 bucks, I’d expect better. Ended up having to grab more later which was a bummer.
Everybody misses. I’ll probably never be back since I was just driving through but next time just say, “Yeah, I’m sorry I can’t make anything like what you wanted. I’d be happy to get you anything else or we can refund you for the trouble.” Always keep it 100. Because I’d have appreciated that more than whatever the hell I was given to drink. Stay up!
Awesome vibes from this place. Helpful staff and an EPIC selection of guitars both acoustic and electric, as well as equipment. And not just guitars! Percussion equipment, keyboards, ukulele, etc were all there! Great place to look around and hang out even if you are on a budget.
A lot of cool instruments and a good selection. Will be going back
Good place to jam around, regardless of if you buy anything or not. Staff is friendly and helpful, they don’t bother you if your just looking around either!
It’s the only place in town to get flatwound bass strings…
High prices
This has to be the smallest Guitar Center that I’ve ever been in. Nice selection and helpful staff
Will not be muzzled to give you money
These guys were recomended by my daughter’s school for instrument rental. I went in and the staff were very nice and helpful. I then told them that i needed to rent a trombone for her band class. They the told me that the manager would have to do that and he would be in the following day. I said that was fine and i met the manager and he ordered the trombone and told me it would be arrive in a few days. This is when the problems began. I called a few days later and it didn’t arrive and the manger assured me that it was on its way. A week later it still hadn’t arrived. By this time my daughter’s teacher is questioning if i ever ordered the instrument. Now the manager is promising me that its on its way its just a busy time right now.I am still patiently waiting and its been 2 weeks. Now i’m still being promised its on its way but I know it doesnt take that long. I eventually went elsewhere and got the instrument the same day. Its amazing to me that i still havent heard from the store and its now been 4 months and no reply from the store. I would not be so upset if they would have just told me up front they couldn’t get the instrument i would have accepted that and moved on.
Looked around for 15-20 minutes and was given no help
