Cute little store. Helpful owner.
Small, dusty, employee or owner was hovering over me, which was very awkward because it was the size of a small room. A few unknown guitars.
2. All In One Guitar
Address: 2145 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
I don’t write many reviews but this store deserved it. I purchased a bass from them off ebay and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. They were more than willing to help me custom set up my bass before shipping it. They took the time to go through the bass and make sure everything worked properly and was perfect. If you are lucky enough to live close to them I highly recommend stopping in to see them.
Just received my new semi hollow body Wolf KLP 45FM.
Jin of All In One did a fantastic job of setting the guitar up before shipping it to me. And it was fast, only a week after ordering did I get it in Florida from California. What a beauty it is!
This place is great the guys there are very kind and will make good deals and will give you the best offer. The lot of guitars are small but I would definitely recommend anyone to going here then guitar center.
Great selection of guitars,
Also they provide a great service.
The guitar (TC1-H) is a great deal for the money, set-up was pretty bad, makes me think nothing was ever done to it. Luckily I have some experience setting my own guitars up, and after a truss rod and bridge adjustment it went from unplayable because of fret buzz all the way up the neck, to one of the nicest necks I’ve played. The rounded edges and well dressed frets make for a great feel, especially when you throw in the satin back. Glad I went with the humbucker version because I’m not real happy with the single coil. Tuners are kind of touchy but I will get used to them, or replace them. Build with the various woods looks amazing as does the wolf paw inlays on the fretboard.
I got sent a guitar that should have been a B-stock. One of the inlays is cracked or split. I can’t feel it when I play the guitar so I kept it anyway. I suppose the way to look at it is that I’ll always be able to identify my guitar.
Everything else was okay.
Not open even during supposedly open hours, wasted my time
Bad owners won’t let you try out guitars. So unfriendly.
Yelp reviews aren’t everything. I walked into the most unfriendly environment. They literally just stared at me. They didn’t greet me or offer any help. They just went back to what they were doing as if I wasn’t even there. They spoke in Korean and when I asked who to speak with they all just looked around as if to say, “not me”. One of them, Jin, finally came over and spoke in mumbles and literally avoided eye contact the entire time.
I came in to inquire about lessons, cases, and repairs. I live in the neighborhood and always say I’m going to go in plus, the reviews are great. But I’m guessing not many Black people have gone in here because clearly, I wasn’t welcome.
Then, Jin began walking away from me as I was speaking to him. He just ended the conversation. One guy came from the back and greeted me with a friendly hi and a smile. Thank goodness for him. A sigh of relief for a brief second. But that was it. There was an older gentleman who was being helped, a lesson maybe, who was just as unfriendly as the staff.
Needless to say, I will not be coming here again. The fear and disrespect was uncanny. I hate when race and gender play a role in how you’re treated. And this, clearly played a role. I was friendly and presentable and literally was treated like trash. I smiled, they looked away. I spoke, they walked away. I inquired and Jin responded in one word answers. I’m from a small town and prefer small Mom and Pop places like this one. But wow.
Nope. I’ll take my business elsewhere.
3. Grayson’s Tune Town
Address: 2415 Honolulu Ave, Montrose, CA 91020 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Very professional, very knowledgeable and an absolutely excellent staff. This is the place to go if you’re serious about your instruments and the music that you play.
Connor was wonderful in helping me choose a guitar. I’ve been a long time customer and everyone here is always so helpful and very knowledgeable. Grayson’s is really the best music store and guitar shop I’ve ever been to. Wynn, Emilio, Chris to name a few are awesome.
I recently bought a used guitar from Conner. We agreed on a fair price and the guitar was shipped. Unfortunately UPS didn’t deliver as quickly. Conner was very helpful and we navigated through the delays together. Guitar was exactly as described. I’m a happy customer.
I’ve lived in the area since 1994. I’ve had a 2013 Gibson LPJ set up here ( Thumbs up Win !) before and have bought strings, cables, bass lessons for my oldest and guitar lessons for my youngest. It’s great to have a neighborhood music store within minutes from my house. I play 7 instruments and have played guitar since 1967. Good vibes with GTT up until today when I came in to purchase an EHX Attack Decay Pedal. Normally I buy pedals from Guitar Center or Reverb but I really wanted this pedal “NOW”. Everything was as usual, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable service but after my purchase I quickly asked if the pedal was “New” and the sales clerk immediately replied yes. I opened the box and saw the plastic bag was faded and wrinkled as opposed to the bag that held the P/S. This would mean it’s possibly used, or a demo. The kids had to get home in a hurry so I thought I’d look at it again at home. If a pedal isn’t new and it malfunctions in some way then?? As I thought it wasn’t new but an “open box” purchase. I called back and GTT verified this and told me the pedal had been kept in the display case without it’s box which makes total sense. I’m keeping the pedal for one because the retail price for this reissue is unbelievable. I don’t think I can return it anyway because of store policy. Guitar Center doesn’t do this nor Sam Ash or any other Music store I’ve bought from unless it’s the last unit and they will tell you if the unit is not “brand new”. It’s not a big deal but I feel there was some deception and being 65 yrs old I feel I was being judged as a naive non or beginner guitar player. Looks like I’ll have to be on my toes and take my time on future purchases at GTT. Again it’s the deception or lack of info that is concerning me. This pedal is so sweet!
What a great independent music store. I drive 30 minutes each way to take my guitars for repair since I haven’t been able to find anyone good near me.
Terrible place. That fat kid Connor was very rude to me. Never going here again.
OK store but they should get rid of that Connor kid. He’s very rude to customers and acts like he is better than everyone.
Great music shop, super helpful, knowledgeable and all around good folks. Constantly have cool stuff coming through the store definitely check it out
Great selection of used vintage gear. Everything priced to move for the working musician. Down to earth staff meets you where you’re at.
Satisfying
Good selection of vinyl, good music on the speakers as you amble round the store diggin
This is a great store, pretty unique in its selection, and the fact it has been around for so long is a testament to the owner.
Great selection, pretty lousy service. Half of the stuff in the shop is broken, none of it is plugged in (despite it being 90% keyboards and synthesizers), so good luck trying something before you buy it. They have a nice selection of used gizmos and gadgets though, and I assume the proprietor is nicer if you need something fixed or come in the store with $5k to drop on a vintage moog.
I took my guitar in to resoder my pick ups. The dude there said it would be about 15 bucks. I come back a week later and the bill was 120 dollars. The guitar tech took it upon himself to “fix the other problems” sure he fixed some stuff but honestly its giving me some problems right now and I broke a string the same day i got i back. But come on it’s like going to the mechanic for an oil change and the guy goes “oh you needed a new engine so I decided to fix it all up for you, thatll be 2000 dollars” I wish they would’ve called me first and tell me what’s up. Really wasn’t cool
This place sucks!
The place is ok. They don’t have many instruments to choose from.
8. L.A. Vintage Gear – Burbank Location also @ 11636 Ventura Blvd. Studio City
Address: 1206 Burbank Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Fabulous store. Clif is a really nice guy, and is always welcoming. He will do his best to make you happy.
Great store and lovely owner and they stock Danocasters!
Great store! First rate gear! Pros and aficionados are at home there!
Since more than 75% of LA is fully vaccinated, it feels great to be in a store where they require the vaccine according to LA County recommendations. You can relax and feel comfortable there!
Cheers guys! Well done!
Nice folks, awesome shop. Everything from vintage, artist-signed guitars to amps, drums, and more for the guitar aficionado.
great shop, VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE.
fast communication on Instagram.
Ironically not in LA, and mostly new and boutique gear.
gonna go back for a Benson amp when it is in stock!
Require vaccine to enter a Small time dump of a shop. Typical Liberal loosers. The vaccine is causing the the virus to evolve faster in variants that’s why Israel and the UK are having a hard time controlling it now with the vaccine. The more people that get vaccinated the more the virus will evolve. 30 people are dying a day from the Virus due to allergies. Disgusting that people like this want to force a Vaccine that’s failing. He should just close up his shop and stay home if it’s so Scared

My cousin and I walked into what we thought it would be…a high end music store with an awesome selection, and it was exactly that. The minute we walk in we were greeted by an awesome Two Rock Amp and it felt like this is the place to be. Vintage guitars on the wall, high end boutique amps, and classic vintage amps as well.
My next encounter with this store was with an older gentleman behind the counter (I assume the owner) asking me if I had my vaccine. Odd question and none of his business, but I answered politely and said no. Keep in mind, our masks were fully on the second we walked in, in respect to Covid mandates in LA and the sign posted on the front door before you walk in. He then proceeds to ask me if I was being serious about not having it and I said yes. After I answer that question, he says out loud in front of his colleagues and my cousin, “you’ll be the last one to ever come in here without a vaccine” and gets up from behind the counter and walks in the back room away from the showroom.
I felt extremely uncomfortable by this time and really wanted to leave immediately. For my cousins sake, we browse their selection of inventory. After about 10 minutes I told my cousin we are leaving.
I won’t leave the part out about you apologizing as we are about to leave but your demeanor was unprofessional and your judgments to my personal choices are irrelevant to you and your establishment. Your questions were personal and unnecessary and I came in with the mindset of purchasing something, left with nothing but a write off to this place. I don’t ever plan on coming back and supporting your business with or without a vaccine. Unbelievable…
Worst ownership. Ever.
9. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 7360 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Knowledgeable and courteous sales people helped me find the right mixer.
I recently bought a Fender Rumble 100 Bass amp at Sam Ash in Hollywood. I used it at home and it worked and sounded great. However when I took the amp out to play, it died. Long story short, I called Sam Ash and spoke to a sales Associate. I returned the amp to the store and received a new one. Although I had not bought the extended warranty, the Manager said he would exchange the amp for a new one. As it turns out, I was on the final day of warranty. Talk about timing! This process was painless, efficient and rewarding! Thanks Sam Ash!
I love this place everyone is super profishinal and Friendly.
Wonderful selection of guitars to choose from. People were helpful. Parking is around back. They did try and up sell more items to go with the guitar. Not the guitar. The return policy is 45 days.
Needed more drum stuff
The people here were very helpful on both sides of the street and I was impressed with how knowledgeable the staff were about everything in there store
Placed an online Order with Sam Ash, I recieved a confirmation and also a shipping confirmation email. then the games started. First email said they had no stock although there website said they had three. then they offered me a used amp. After I refused they said they would sorce a new one and let me know. 4 days later I hhad a call from someone who said he would try and sorce one. then he emailed me backed saying he was not the person for this. Im still in the roundabout and they have had my money all week. Truely bad experience from everyone here

Choi B. K. from Airlines in Korea
worst customer service ever. bought a really nice guitar pedal but had some trouble with it and though it was a faulty unit. no replies or help what so ever from their part, even when still in Hollywood before i went back to Sweden. Go to guitar central.
10. Music By the Metric Ton Inc
Address: St, Verdugo City, CA 91046 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Friendly knowledgeable staff, and all of the guitars are in good shape.
better then guitar center
Some beautiful guitars in stock I wish I could say the same for the strings. I’m hoping the sales person was a little preoccupied with something else in his mind cuz he didn’t seem to have time for me other than that nice place lot of potential
Approachable, personable, patient staff, roomier than you’d think.
The owner was very cool and helpful. He gave me tons of info for free on some guitars I was buying. Good place to sell vintage gear quickly.
They misrepresented a guitar as being a valuable Martin collector guitar when it wasn’t. Deceptive and dishonest people.
After posting my review I got this message from the owner of Imperial Vintage Guitars “…We would strongly advise you to stop harassing our shop, or we will have to pull a restraint order and sue for slander. We have done it before, its an easy and efficiant way to get rid of germs like you”.
Do not do business with them.
Major garbage dump, glued together junk. Used car sales approach, they insult just about every store in Los Angeles and say a lot of negative stuff about everybody other than their friends. Total twisted vibe plus there is a ton of dust on everything in the store. Complete waste of time. You can get much better deals online
A Junk yard, and don’t even think of returning anything once you buy. You can kind of tell that the guys that work there are lying to you. On the bright side, if you have trouble falling asleep, just listen to the owner play guitar for about 5 minutes. I think his name is Tommy but I’m not sure. I’ve been there 2 times in the last year and things are still the same. The place is so small you can’t walk 2 feet in any one direction
12. Guitar Center
Address: 7425 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Hollywood rock of fame is here, lots of stuff to look at and play with
Great inventory and most employees are actually very helpful. You just have to be straightforward with your questions and don’t ask questions a 4th grader can answer.
Cool music shop
My son got his California souvenir here.. a starter pack with electric guitar… The handprints were awesome to see
Great facility for musicians. Very knowledgeable staff and friendly too. Would definitely recommend
Visited the shop from Sydney Australia in late July 2014. Was impressed with the entrance to the shop with all the hand prints of famous musicians and memorabilia in the windows, but this would soon be extinguished very soon.
Entered the shop with the sole purpose to try some PRS guitars and in all honesty was in a position to seriously consider a purchase, but the waiting of over 30 mins to be attended to quickly infuriated me. Once someone decided to help me out after a gruelling sale of a Marshall practice amp the sales person began to belittle my knowledge for the product even after I had mentioned to him that I have work in the music industry in Australia for some 15 years and I work in a shop as one of the biggest PRS agents in Australia.
10 minutes later I’d had enough and took a large period of time to find someone to get the guitar back in its security hanger. I must say I was burnt 3 years ago by Guitar Center Chicago and nothing has changed since. I would highly recommended anyone, American or traveller to avoid this chain as the worst of the worst when it comes to service in the music industry.
I love guitar center, I walked into this store didn’t even feel welcomed at all.
I wouldn’t give it zero stars if I could for this matter , I hope next time I go here I see something different , if not I won’t ever stop here again because I don’t have to take negativity from anyone specially from people that I don’t even know.
The workers tags where
Matt the cat bad customer service.
I have been a customer for over 5 years at guitar center and never experienced such rude behavior from any employees.
I brought my own guitar and also wanted to try some amps , one person working here was very rude to me , they let me borrow a cable to practice and try some amps . One of the workers took off the cable from me just like that being disrespectful towards me and said I couldn’t use the cable, I told him to take it back since it was his. I don’t like having conflicts with anyone but I didn’t like the way he approached me since I don’t even know who he is and I don’t know anyone that works here.
I don’t want people that I dont know to ever approach me in that sort of matter. Specially if I don’t know you.
If anything people should be supportive towards other musicians specially a music store or people that work on a music store , they should support other musicians and make them feel welcomed and be supportive instead of trying to shut them off and put them down like that.
Telling you, you can’t use their cables because it’s theirs and just shutting off the amps and not even letting people play or enjoy their time specially customers like us.
The guitar center in brea is one of the best and people there are very welcoming and they never interrupt you no matter what you are doing , they always support you 100 percent.
bought a synth from them this week. Easy pick up. They also helped me work through some confusion I had with the settings on the synth. Eric was extremely helpful
Cool place, cool shop owner, who knows vintage gear well. Great value and variety
Great collection of working antique musical instruments!
Good variety of vintage instruments, worth a visit for any musician. They have a large record selection too.
Great little place for your guitar needs and instruments. They also sell albums and tapes ,but there prices for album are very expensive, this is Lincoln heights, not Hollywood or Fairfax
I understand they have to make money that’s exactly what they do they have great vintage instruments and amplifiers
15. International House of Music
Address: 821 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles, CA 90014 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Good services, a little expensive and short of products
They could have more variety and they’re a tad overpriced.
Exssesive expenssive and rude staff. They have lost so much customers now due to rude staff
I have come here on and off for years….NOT HATING, just being honest. Yes, there is a decent selection of musical instruments. The staff act like they are doing you a favor and seem annoyed all the time. As God as my witness, the guitars/basses are OVERPRICED. The same guitars have been on the walls for years. I try to be polite and reason with them. They will NOT budge on the prices. How they have stayed in business for so long is beyond me. Their overhead must be absolutely brutal and with the thugs and homeless out front, my God, I do not envy the staff or the owners. I wish them the best.
Went here a few months ago in search of a new accordion. Ended up looking at a Hohner Compadre, after a few minutes of demonstration one of the workers (Eduardo) really tried to push me into buying it, a bit suspicious like. I liked the accordion and about 10 minutes from trying it out I had purchased it. I made a mistake of not looking at it from all angles because hours after I had left the store I had found many dings and scuffs on the bottom and side by the air valve. After a while of playing it as well I had realized the reeds inside the accordion were out of tune. I live 7 hours away from this store so this was all very inconvenient for me. I called the store a week later to see what they could do for me, I spoke with Eduardo, he denied knowing anything about the scuffs and said there wasn’t much he could do, but talk to the manager. They did offer to fix the reeds and tune them however, they wanted me to send it to them from my own pocket. This store will only treat you like royalty if you are famous and give them publicity online. I will not be returning.
16. Playing A Brass Instrument Is A Blast!
Address: 2516 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA 91214 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Hands down the coolest pro audio store I’ve ever walked into. I am looking for new studio monitors and I’ve never had the luxury of being able to hear the debate vs read online reviews. They have every monitor you can think of on display. Awesome!
Experience is key for pro audio and the people at Vintage Kings have big experience. Most audio stores just try to sell you on whatever they can get their hands on. They can get their hands on whatever piece of equipment you need so that’s not an issue here. Give them a call they’re easy to talk to. (Missing 1 star because their people are busy busy)
Gave me a good price on a preamp I sold them, was the best price around at the time.
Customer service is ok ok not really great, it really depends on whom you’re dealing with…
Can’t go inside the shop, so boo for that, but picked up my new interface and monitors (still on backorder) from their curbside pick up option. Wish I could go in, but the playground is off limits during this crazy time.
Ordered a pair of BareFoot Footprint 01 one week ago. As soon as I noticed that only one of the two boxes were picked up by the courier, I contacted the customer service, expecting a prompt action. The reply was “the courier picked up both boxes, it looks like a glitch in the system”.
Guess what? Today I received ONLY one speaker, the other one is still in “Shipment info sent to FedEx”.
It is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that after having paid 4500$, getting this kind of service.
So please, steer away from these people and buy your sound equipment elsewhere.
Vintage king charged me for 2nd-day delivery but, was not delivered as paid. I reached out to them instead of refunding the money for 2nd-day delivery they refused. Then emailed me to say because it was ordered on a Friday the shipping was correct. The fact that this incorrect and you’re making an excuse to keep my money is unacceptable. The order was done on Thursday and not Friday. I’ll never go business with them again. The money is no longer the issue. The idea of not displaying integrity speaks volumes. The idea of lying about an order for the money leaves me speechless.
18. La Casa Del Musico
Address: 1900 1st St, Los Angeles, CA 90033 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Noel is very helpful. He sells quality equipment at reasonable prices.
Very nice people I found the harmonica I’m starting to learn they had what I wanted
Great store! If you are looking for the first guitar for your child – then this is the place to go! Perfectly fits her little arms and hands [she is 7; they have a variety of sizes]. This is a REAL GUITAR – and guess what?!??! It is cheaper than a toy guitar from ToysRus. I can’t get over the quality…it comes with a zero fret. This store has a reputation for quality instruments. They delivered!
Seme ase algo caro pero arregle lo que nesecitava
Buen servicio y buen precio
Aunque le falta un poco de organización
Se viera mucho mejor cosmeticamente
En mercancía encontre lo q necesitaba, desgraciadamente la atención es pesima le dan mas atención al cel antes q al cliente.
Nice place.
19. Sam Ash Drum Shop
Address: 7401 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 , Los Angeles County , California , United States
Super service yesterday! Store was clean and organized.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Spent time finding the right snare drum for my needs and even recommended a pre-owned drum that was half the price of the new one I came in to buy. Great to have a dedicated store for and by drummers.
Great selection with see good prices mixed in with the slightly overpriced. But gotta pay the rent somehow.
The staff is super cool and the selection of stuff they have is usually off the beaten path from what music stores typically offer. My only complaint is that they sometimes don’t have certain items in stock which can be easily found at Guitar Center next door.
Always get great service when I go!
The guys in-store were very helpful, but, unfortunately, the item I was looking for is no longer being manufactured (one of the associates even looked it up in the system).
THANK YOU
Rude and incompetent employees. Specifically Ezequiel, Charlie, and Carlos. This shop was well run up until a couple years ago. New store manager Carlos is not good at his job. Twice they’ve messed up big orders and not taken responsibility. Zero apologies for their mistakes and wasted time. Avoid for serious purchases.
horrible service. i’ve been here a couple times and the sales associates are extremely unfriendly.
Well the price it’s not compared whit guitar center has more choices
20. Drummer Music
