great owner. fantastic vintage items
I was looking for antique/vintage stores while my mom and I were on the way to Gatlinburg for a birthday trip and this shop came up. I can say that it was more then worth the stop. The owners were very welcoming and the store has so much to look at! I hope to be back sometime soon!

Absolutely the finest guitars and repairman in the Southeast!!! Allen Williams is an authentic craftsman!
Excellent work and a great person! I needed a pickup installed on my mandolin and only had a small window of time available in between gigs. Allen did a terrific job, within the needed time frame and even adjusted the bone nut to eliminate some string buzz that I was recently experiencing! Very fair rate, too. Highly recommend.
While I was there I was also able to play some of his Baruke guitars, which are also very nice. Wonder it he’d trade one for my Martin? 🙂
Really good guitar techs are hard to find, I’m 52 years old and have played guitar since I was 10. These young kids at guitar center can screw your guitars up, this guy can fix them. First class experienced luthier and friendly guy

Sell good musical instruments
Shady business! Sold me a used mandolin that is damaged and had the pick guard removed, didn’t say anything, hoping I wouldn’t notice, which I didn’t (wasn’t very familiar with mandolins & they knew this). There are holes in the instrument where the guard was removed. I think they even sold me a different one than the one they advertised online, for some reason. Wouldn’t answer my emails. Horrible people!
Took a guitar here to get EMG pickups installed. I had the work done but the pickup wiring would not fit under the pick guard. I took it in and said, “This needs routed for a 9 volt, please don’t touch the action.” I got it back with the EMG’s “installed” poorly with all of the wire crammed under the guard, the tech, Walter, CUT OFF my solderless connections, used an improper passive tone pot, and soldered things in place thus ruining the modular nature of the solderless connections.
When I plugged the guitar in back home I was getting serious hum with overdrive pedals. Also, the tone pot, as expected, really just did nothing until about the last mm of turn radius then it killed all the treble at once. ALSO, the tremelo and action had been adjusted HIGHER than when I brought it in. Sigh. Anyhow, I took it back and the kept it for a month. I called and they said, “Oh yeah Walter said there’s nothing wrong with this guitar.”
When I returned the guitar to them I asked that Walter not touch it and to please use a different tech. So today I’ve made my third trip down there (it’s an hour one way) to pick up the guitar and they said they’d get it running right for me so it’s still there. I’ve ASKED for my money back and to take the guitar with me and they said the best they can do is “take another look at it.” It’s been there for a month and a half altogether.
Today I went and picked up the guitar. It still hums. He told me “the amp is making the guitar hum” which is of course impossible. So I plugged it into another amp and it hummed. He said, “EMG’s just do that sometimes.” So I spent 60.00 for them to break my guitar, they would not refund my money, then charged me ANOTHER 30 bucks to pick it up today, ignoring the fact that they already have 60.00 from me for a faulty pickup install. I will NEVER go here again and my local buddies won’t, either. Should’ve just given me a refund or simply not charged me today. FINALLY, after plugging the guitar in back at home I’ve figured this out. Somehow they wired it so ALL pickups would tap with the coil tap/my single coil tones are thin compared to my other EMG loaded strat. Position 1 sounds like the middle position on a tele and sounds NOTHING like a neck single coil, position two is dark/mud, positions 3 and 4 are the SAME TONE with absolutely no change whatsoever, and position 5 is the only one that works right. They assured me it was wired right and insisted on charging me as a result. The only position functioning properly is the bridge pickup.
Lancaster music is infinitely time better and also bad service. One time I asked for a thing that they sell on their store that I saw a week ago and they said that they never had that in there store
Chris at Ruth Guitars is pretty much the only person I trust w my gtrs. I play over 200 shows a year, and trust Chris w all my electronic work, set ups, he’s even lent me a couple custom made LG Series guitars for high profile gigs. His custom builds come standard w superior hardware including premium handwired pickups. From repairs to tone-shaping and beyond, Chris at Ruth Guitars always goes above expectations and over-delivers a product that is eye-catching, fun to play, sounds impossibly good, custom made to your specs, and affordable. Call him TODAY for any repair or maintenance, its getting cold out! You’ll want to get your hands on one of his numerous custom builds (If you can get it off his wall long enough I recommend the black LG model) and start spec’ing YOUR handmade custom model. Pictured below is the TC model w literally too many tonal options to list here. Your tonal palette is only limited by your own imagination. Chris can bring your dream sound to your hands! I wish I could give more than 5-stars!
So, I brought my project guitar to Ruth Guitars that I’ve been holding onto for years. I asked him to build it how he would like it. Oops! Turned out way better than I had ever thought! He was able to install the neck, wire in a crazy cool pick up, added strings and locking bar for the tuners. Superb work! I’ve played several of his guitars and they all have great action and are super comfortable! Highly recommended!

Lots of interesting old items in an old country store setting
Really glad we decided to stop in, just was driving by. Pleasantly surprised and will be back. Variety of old stuff and fun to take time and look through it all. Cool, old structure built up on rock pillar things. .
Awsome variety of items.
Pretty neat place
Really enjoyed the walk through.
Netter Laden mit vielen interessanten Sachen.
Too pricey.

Knowledgeable sales staff. Had exactly what I needed.
Class classy store the help was a little lackadaisical but overall very very nice place and very very beautiful and good products
Wonderful music store
Un servicio a cliente muy amable
Agradable
I’ll swing in here every now and again just to have a peak. Maybe pick up some picks, a strap, etc. The staff are always real friendly, I’ve got no complaints there. The place is nice and clean and always well stocked. I know their bread and butter are off of pianos and such, but I’d love to see a bigger selection of guitars and basses in here. Would bring in some business, I’m sure. Especially considering there is only one other music store in town that survived the recession. As for now, that other music store and Guitar Center are my first two stops before this one. And that’s nothing against this place at all. If you’re looking for the likes of a piano, woodwind, brass, etc – make a trip to see these guys.
I felt a racial divide. I was cordial and respectful when I entered the place. I played for them, the piano and sang to them and even bought something from them. They called the police on me and I was not arrested. I did not disrespect anyone nor did I hard an instrument. I sat in the police car in cuffs and then was released without a problem. I plan to take them to court.
Extremely narrow minded selection of instruments. If you play anything besides piano or high school band instruments you will be looked at with disdain. If you do play those instruments, I hope you like Yamaha because that’s your only choice.
Nice store but they DON’T take American Express
11. The Maelstrom Studio
Address: 8457 Skitts Mountain Rd, Clermont, GA 30527 , Lula , Georgia , United States
These guys are the best. What we have accomplished together in the studio is nothing short of pure magic. Great gear, great engineers/producers, and flexible.
By far the best recording experience I have had. The equipment is out of this world, everything you need to make amazing music.
My band had the pleasure of recording at The Maelstrom studio this past summer. It was the most professional recording experience I’ve ever had personally. The studio team put forth time and effort to make our tone /sound ideas come to life in the recording. All the equipment is state of the art , top of the line.
The team is easy + fun to work with and we will definitely be back to record again. I highly recommend this studio if you demand a high quality recording that really makes your music shine and also if you want to work with a team thats professional and makes the entire process an enjoyable one. A+
12. Vintage Musical Instruments
Address: 42 Public Square S, Dahlonega, GA 30533 , Lula , Georgia , United States
It’s the coolest shop on the square in Dahlonega GA.
I live in Atlanta, and I was spending the weekend close by Dahlonega, I found this shop and dropped my guitar for some adjustments, knowing it would take me a couple hours round trip to pickup again. Best decision ever, my 25 year old Takamine feels brand new again. Ken knows his stuff and is a beautiful person. Awesome experience.
Great shop. Beautiful instruments and some great sounding guitars and folk instruments. The custom made electric guitars are one of a kind. Hope to go back
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
13. Gwinnett Discount Music
Address: 3715 Mundy Mill Rd Suite I, Oakwood, GA 30566 , Lula , Georgia , United States
Wayne and Zack were awesome. I brought in two guitars for tune ups and results were way above my expectations. Both guitars looked like new and sounded fantastic. These are people that take their small business seriously and going forward will be my source for all guitar needs. No need to go to big box stores where you are just another number….. These guys are the real deal.
Cute little music store in an area without many more of the same. Guitars, electric and acoustic mostly, but a smattering of other instruments as well. Accessories, books, lessons.
Got some new and used music equipment for a very good price. .
The only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because the workers were really helpful and knowledgeable. I give 5 stars for their professionalism. The store itself was crowded with gear making it hard to move around. The selection of guitars was okay nothing spectacular. The drum room had more PA equipment than drums. This is not the place to go if you’re looking to grab a set of strings or sticks. Everything in the store is overpriced. Hey fellas it’s called gwinnett “discount” music.
I am local and the last several times I showed up when they were supposed to open at twelve there was no one even there. Couple of times came back about a 1/2 hour later and still all locked up. Like I said this has happened on more than one occasion, and they open at 12, there’s no excuse for that. Maybe consider hiring a more repsonsible person who can get to work by …NOON, to open your store
I went to the store last night with three nice guitars that cost all around 399 a piece and was offered $100 a guitar they took maybe 15-20 minutes to look all of them up and see what they were priced at and then load ball me and left the room the guy seemed very impatient and wanted to leave the store so I think he was just not interested. This pricing was lower than a pawn shop

Very nice place to eat a good food and service is super.
Excellent calzones, pizza and Italian food
Great food!
Good food
Never got a chance to sample the food there. I’ll try it
Good pizza in a quiet town.
The pizza really wasn’t that good, at all it tasted like cardboard. The milk shakes tasted like plan milk because they blended them way too long.
Don’t know what’s going on with Napolis lately went there last nite ordered a Greek Salad Sweet tea my husband ordered the Chicken Alfredo. The so called Greek salad was awful all it had was romaine stems couple pieces of tomato and onions and a few feta cheese pieces in it and the Romaine was hard not fresh and when the staff was advised about it they had attitudes also when I asked for a cup of ice for the tea the lady had an attitude and stated that’s the last cup of tea we had left and brought me a half cup of ice .The owner needs to come back before his restaurant loses business. Also other customers were complaining they couldn’t even make a turkey sandwich.
It’s overly priced for mediocre food. The pizza was extremely thin and chewy. The sandwich was bland. Nothing special. The fried ravioli was delicious tho.
16. Pete’s Music City
Address: 115 S Wall St, Calhoun, GA 30701 , Lula , Georgia , United States
Very nice, Got a good selection of Guitars and others.
Had exactly what I needed. The clerk was very helpful and showed me many different options to solve my audio problem! Thank you so much pizza music city for a great experience. Will come again
Such a wonderful and knowledgeable staff here!
Great customer service and friendly ppl and plus great prices on everything in the store . A must stop to buy your Musical instruments
Locally owned and loved. These guys are happy to help with your music needs, they’re knowledge and courteous
Quality personnel.
Friendly staff, clean environment and plenty of stools to sit in if you decided to pick up a guitar and play. But unfortunately the the selection was not there for me. Not trying to be negative but it really seemed as a store where somebody had went around for a while picking out the best guitars they could find at surrounding pawn shops cleaned them up and opened a store. Not saying you can’t find a good guitar at a pawn shop and not saying that they didn’t have guitars there just very dry selection.
17. KC Music Lessons, Repair & A/V Studio
Address: 1866 Whitley Rd, Bethlehem, GA 30620 , Lula , Georgia , United States
A great music store!! The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I drove from Fort Valley, GA (southwest of Macon) to purchase another bass amp for practice and ended up with not only a practice amp, but another bass guitar….
Where to start really.. I’ve been shopping here off and on for years. A couple things stand out to me every time I’m in. First, the selection is outstanding, from instruments and effects to supporting equipment, and amplifiers. Second, and probably the most important, the staff is knowledgeable, approachable and friendly, seriously. I’ve spent time as a touring musician in my earlier years, and learned pretty quickly how important it is to have a place like this in your community. Last year I had a guitar reworked and repaired, and honestly its better now than when I bought it new, no exaggeration. The setup was clean and incredibly accurate-(stuff I get way too picky about lol). The technician (soooo bad with names) was extremely cool, and I learned a ton about an instrument I’ve spent a lifetime playing. Today, I came in with my family to look at a pedal I was super curious about. Aaron went way above and beyond to help me learn about it. From setting up the amp and guitar to match my in home setup, to reviewing the capacity of the device. Very relaxed environment, folks that truly care about their community and the musicians in it, what ever you experience level.
If you need guitar repairs, this is the place to go. Town Center was a pleasure to deal with, all around. Honest, communicative, lightning-fast and first-rate quality work at a very competitive prices. My repair was relatively minor (install a 3-way switch), but they nailed it. Beautifully clean soldering and the turn-around time was 24 hours! You can tell a great deal about a business by how they treat minor jobs. Through every step of the repair process, it was clear to me that the guys at Town Center valued my business.
Additionally, they have an impressive selection of guitars and amps. If you’re a gear lover, their huge pedal collection is truly a sight to behold!
Good
Taught my kids to play guitar
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
AVOID AVIOD
High prices not helpful run by a guy who looks 40 and still in a garage band no music
background not open late any place better then here. Manger is clueless.
Store is dirty poor selection not real big
19. Music & Arts
Address: 12182 Hwy 92, Woodstock, GA 30188 , Lula , Georgia , United States
I had a wonderful exchange with the store manager Cailey. She was knowledgeable, helpful & kind. I will absolutely return to this location!
Great place to rent from!
Kaylee was very helpful with putting together my little brothers first guitar
Good service and very knowledgeable
They helped purchase the wrong size violin for my daughter the first time in person. Then when I ordered a 2nd one on the website they cancelled my order without even letting me know. When I called them I was told there was nothing that could be done.
Terrible customer service and return policies.
Do not waste your time
I don’t recommend visiting this store while in this crazy epidemic. They have gone way over board locking things down. You must where a mask, which I complied with, but you are not allowed to touch anything? The associate was animate she could only touch things. Absolutely ridiculous, I walked out. I’ll never buy from them again. To many other options.
