These guys form RELATIONSHIPS with their customers. They know my name, they remember what I like, they help educate me, AND their prices are GREAT. I prefer SWING CITY over any national chain music store because at the other guys, I’m just a number and a sale.
My husband was so happy . Thank you so much
They have or can order what you need in musical things ,mics , strings, stands instruments ECT.
It’s a really good place. Sorry, we were the ones that crashed intk the building
A good old school music store.
They hate drummers. Lost a sale because they were condescending to a young man I was with. We’ll be taking our business elsewhere.
The entrance was beautiful the photos of all the different artist and musicians was wonderful and gave me an idea of what I could be some day. I was greeted appropriately, and they answered all my questions, but that was just what they did. They didn’t ask any further questions or give me a reason to be there and learn about the infinite possibilities of music from them and their instructors. It seemed like their knowledge of music and instruments had become just a job.
When renting a violin be prepared to purchase the moment you go to a full size otherwise you loose all credit built up over the years. Such a RIP off
The crew at Mojo’s are some of the best in the biz. Competitive prices, excellent customer service, and great selection are what you’ll find. I get treated like family everytime I go in. They make it too easy to spend money (in a good way).
Mojo’s Music is the best. They are welcoming and super helpful to everyone that walks in. They have great inventory. The owner, Tom, went out of his way to track down a particular limited edition Breedlove acoustic for me. I’ve done a number of trade-ins with Mojo’s, and they are always fair and honest when assessing the gear I bring in and beyond reasonable with the deals they offer. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I live in the city, and it’s worth the 35 minute drive to get over to Edwardsville. I can’t recommend Mojo’s enough. Whether you’re buying your first starter guitar or buying an heirloom quality instrument, Mojo’s is the place.
Mojo’s always gets 5 stars.
Fun shop for sure! Eye candy hanging on all the surrounding walls. The shop’s main focus is guitars so it’s definitely the place to go if that’s your go to instrument. Workers are knowledgeable and always very helpful. It’s no breaking news that guitar shops tend to give off awkward, intimidating vibes (understandably so when you visit any shop with high pricetagged merch) and I do have to try and hide my feelings of squirminess while there, but I enjoy going and will continue to.
Lots of inventory and they are willing to deal
After years of taking time off from playing music, band break up really made me step away, I’ve decided to look around for a new guitar and rig, have gone to Mojo’s, have purchase three terrific instruments from them in the past 15 years, never had a bad experience, today, however, was not the same. I walked into a store deflated of its prior pulse, I was seen and ignored, walked around looking for what would be my next stage guitar. Two employees, yet no time to greet, or attempt to make a sale, to show products, I even made an attempt by asking what’s new, even then not a singular spark of interest in my affairs with them was of significance. I walked out of there for the last time, sad to see such a place become so cold and uninviting.
I went in to get my guitar repaired, the staff members sat at the counter and talked and ignored me for several minutes. Then after they finally looked at my guitar it turned out to be a very expensive repair so I decided to just buy a new guitar. One would think this would be cue to start selling a guitar, instead they ignored me some more and made me feel awkward for playing any guitar they had. So I went to swing city music right down the road and they instantly came to help and found a guitar that was right for me.
6. Swing City Music Co
Address: 244 S Buchanan St, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Swing City Music in Collinsville is a local treasure!
I am ashamed to say that while I was once loyal to Drum Headquarters on the Missouri side, for the last several years my schedule has made it highly convenient for me to go online and order gear, sticks, what have you. Even though I work less than a block away from this location, I hadn’t dealt with Swing City in many years since it was at the old location.
I recently got into more of a recording project and I know nothing about home recording, mixing, monitors, etc. So I have visited with Art at this location now a couple of times. I want to stress here that after my recent experience of trying to learn about and purchase a wireless in ear monitor for studio and stage, I will no longer order ANYTHING from the big guys.
One look around this store and I realized how wrong it was of me to EVER give my money to the Sweetwaters of the world and why it is so important to shop local for music gear if you have the opportunity. At this location, people are taking lessons, kids are learning to play, local artists music and merchandise is available for purchase, local shows are promoted and on and on. There are so few opportunities left in our area for any sort of music “scene”- places to learn, play, hone your craft, etc. but this is one of them and it is important that we support it.
Art and Art Sr. and their team explained mixers, in ear monitors and different aspects of recording and sound to me, etc. clearly so that I could understand what was best in my situation and they didn’t treat me like a dummy for being a 44 year old musician who should already know this stuff by now. They didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t need AND as an added bonus they beat SweetWater’s pricing on everything without me even bringing it up or asking ( I would have paid more for the free education that I got from these guys). Strongly recommending that everyone go here. They have an outstanding selection, great service (not a snobby guitar shop atmosphere), and they can get you what you need if they don’t have it. Thanks for reading. Hope this helps!
Been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Staff knowledgeable and always willing to help. From rock band to school band, they have what I need.
Two location. If they don’t have what you need here try the store in Collinsville.
Probably my favorite guitar shop
Staff is nice. Small store, but if they don’t have it, they order it and get it to you within a couple days.
I use to be an avid customer. But I am growing more and more frustrated with the management. I feel like I’m going into a sleazy used car dealership most the time and I am treated like a waking wallet. I’ve bought some guitars and amps there, so I am (or was) returning customer . The employees act fake and I feel like everyone is treated like they are a child. I was going in there to look around if there was any new stock, the employee kept on hovering and was forcing me to play the instrument I didn’t want to try.
Honestly, go to mojos. This place is as unpleasant as a guitar center
Was at the Edwardsville store this afternoon and one of the employees was very unhelpful and rude. Instead of helping he just told me everything was out of my price range. He doesn’t know me or how much money I had in my pocket. Will never go back!.
I was hesitant to take voice lessons at first but the instructor I found through this company has made it a great experience. They are supportive, knowledgeable and make the lessons enjoyable and engaging.
I’ve been attending keyboard lessons, at TR Music and Voice Lessons for the three months. I couldn’t be happier with the progress I’ve made! Thanks, to the guidance provided by Ms. Madison my skills have surpassed my expectations.
It has only been a couple months and Taylor has me playing over 8 songs on guitar, learning music theory, and is assisting me with songwriting techniques! Progress with Taylor is quick, hands on, challenging, and rewarding!
Our son had his first lesson with Caleb…he had so much fun. Caleb really catered piano lessons to Max’s personality, age, and interests. Great experience so far!

It was an amazing place. Looking forward to going back. Staff was great
Excellent food and wine! Friendly, accommodating staff!
my friends & i had the best experience here!! we were greeted warmly by the staff at the front, they let us know that we would order there at the counter and then have it brought to our tables because they are short-staffed. even though it was a rainy day, we still sat outside and were completely dry thanks to the awning 🙂 the view was beautiful and the live music was awesome!! food was DELICIOUS and came out very quickly. we will definitely be back.
Service was very good we had a group of 16 and one server, food was excellent.
Great atmosphere and fun vibes but the wait service isn’t great. Takes too long
Enjoyed sandwiches and a nice Seyval Blank. Watched a storm from the covered deck.
Understaffed, confused blonde at the bar and 5 of the 6 people in our group were not happy with the food. Chicken sandwich was horrible, a deep fried mixture with chunks of dark and white meat with plenty of chicken fat! The bill was wrong and only took 20 minutes to get right. Only positive thing was the wine and drinks. Do not recommend for Saturday afternoon day drinking.
This is a Terrible place to eat, and they give poor service. I arrived with a party of 11 at 7 pm and my simple hamburger and fries didn’t arrive until after 9 pm. The hamburger was burnt, and the fries were cold. How? The place was empty. I requested another order of fries. The fries were drenched in grease. The waiter and bartender were totally lost. Not one person at our table was satisfied. We spent well over $300. Never again.
No !!!! You’re not open
11. Rich’s Record and Audio
Address: 131 W Main St, Collinsville, IL 62234 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Cool guy, sweet vintage and new stereos, cool selection. Pays descent to buy records.
Any time im in this record shop, they treat me with the up most respect. The employees help you out if youre looking for a certain type of record. Great variety as well. I approve of any record shop where you can find original copies of the Beatles and Springsteen. Ive spent upward of $100 in this shop. Love love love it
All I can say about this store is that it is AWESOME!!!! I have a lower end turntable; Tim talked to me about how I could make it much better. I was sold. I did some research; I ended up purchasing a Ortophon Blue headshell and an Ortophon Blue cartridge from them. Same Price as Internet….. These folks know Vinyl and Turntables. My lowly turntable was “woken up” and sounds AWESOME! Tim and the rest of the Guys that work there are top notch. I purchase a LOT of used vinyl here. If there is a problem…. They give me store credit. I will always shop here before a big box for any vinyl or a turntable. Just talk with them; they are not trying to sell anything; they love music and are willing to discuss ways to enhance your listening experience. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
We live in Belleville and that was well worth the drive there. Would have traveled even further. Very nice selection, beats other shops around the area easily.
I love having a local record store. The owner is knowledgeable and friendly and has a nice selection of sound equipment. Used and new vinyl. Drop in you will like it.
I had no expectations in this store. However when I came in there I was met with friendly people. Very helpful staff got answers to my vinyl related questions bought a few items. Very satisfied with my purchases.
This was my first and only time visiting this record store . I had been looking forward to looking around this store. I was the only one in the store for at least 45 minutes or so and the only person working didn’t greet me or even speak to me the whole time . Then when I asked a couple simple questions . All I got in return was bad attitude. Good luck here .
People are rude and not helpful
High price limited selection. Trying to make vinyl into a high priced hobby. Go down the street.
12. Bobby’s Frozen Custard
Address: 2525 North Center Street, IL-159, Maryville, IL 62062 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Great setup outside seating. All marked for social distancing. Best part is the custard.
Great pumpkin pie custard!
Went to get an afternoon snack. Custard is great.
The Nostalgia continues. Love it
We love to stop here when we are in the area. Great choices available.
Great custard.
My family and I, have been coming to Bobby’s for more than 5 years now, and it’s time I gave you guys 1 star for the poor service. I enjoy getting the Rootbeer float, and I add pecans as my topping. Every time I get it, the whole time the workers are making the float, they have a disgusting look on their faces and talk to each other about how weird it is… I am giving you guys one star because of your workers. If you don’t think it’s normal, that’s fine, but don’t talk about it when I can hear you across the counter every time I order it… I’m sure other people like different toppings on their icecream. I don’t feel like I will be giving you guys my business in the future — because it happens every time….show some manners and respect towards the customers at least.
We’ve been going to Bobby’s for over 10 years. The quality was second to none and the place was spotless…and crowded, sometimes 50 plus people in line. Been at least 3 times this summer and things have changed. The quality isnt there, along with no attention to detail. And the place is not as clean. I guess we will be looking for a new ice cream venue
Certainly not worth driving the 35 minutes for anymore.
What a disappointment with Bobby’s Caramel Apples. I purchased one at the Schnuck’s Grocery here in Peoria. I love caramel apples and have for many, many years. The pecans were bitter and the caramel was so flat. There was only enough caramel on the apple to hold the pecans on. They were beautiful to look at but not at all wonderful to eat. My apple went in the garbage. $5.99 down the drain! I would have contacted Bobby’s had there been a contact option. I did not see one so decided to post this on a review. I am so sorry – especially for myself. I was dreaming of enjoying a wonderful caramel apple.
13. Noteworthy Music-School For Strings
Address: 201 St Louis St, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Paul is a wonderful violin instructor and is extremely easy to work with. He is knowledgeable and passionate about music education and makes learning the violin a true pleasure. I have a great deal of respect for him and have learned a tremendous amount in the three years that I have studied with him.
As an adult student, I find Paul a great instructor. He knows the frustration an adult can have with not only learning new things but also the physical ability to do it. He works with the individual at one’s pace and goes to extreme lengths to help one understand what is to be done. He encourages practice for specific purposes which makes me more dedicated to practicing. My abilities have improved greatly in the short time I have taken lessons from Paul. I feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful, talented asset to learn from!
14. Trusty Chords Record Shop
Address: 1514c Troy Rd, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
I went here on record store day for the Taylor Swift release and was not disappointed. They had enough copies and were very prepared and organized!
I went there once (and will go again) and they had records I’ve been looking for since literally forever!! Very chill atmosphere.
The owner here is so nice! The selection is amazing for records and cassettes. I have been searching for a shop like this and will 100% be back!
Wide selection of new and used vinyl, many cd’s as well!
Nice little shop if you have a 50 dollar bill in your pocket. Majority of his stock is remastered which is not “real” experience of listening to say KISS Alive on vinyl. Buy from eBay instead or Rich in Collinsville.
I stopped in just passing through town. Being a collector, I google search for record shops anywhere I’m at. There was a decent selection for a smaller shop. I thought prices were especially reasonable on used LP’s. I walked out with a few more pieces for my collection. I will definitely stop in again.
When I walked in, I was expected a warm welcome but instead it was the complete opposite. The owner was very unprofessional, rude and vulgar. The store itself also reeked of mold and was unbearable to even be inside. Definitely would not recommend this store to anyone!
The owner is extremely unprofessional and rude.
Unprofessional and rude owner. Take your business elsewhere
15. Slackers Music Movies Games
Address: 150 Junction Dr, Glen Carbon, IL 62034 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Lots of manga and video games. Very good prices. helps save.
I never thought I’d be typing up what I’m about to type, so buckle up because you’re in for a wild ride.
I’ve never been a real big fan of Slackers Music Movies Games and it mostly had to do with customer experience a long time ago. That, and the prices on some of the games they had on offer were a bit high in price. However, I will say the prices now are mostly reasonable and they have things that I would have to order online otherwise. And they treat my sons very well when they come in with me.
Classic games are priced a little above places like ebay, but if you need it, its a great place, employees are nice and pretty knowledgeable
Wide variety of media available to browse and buy.
I love this place, awesome comics and games! Friendly people work there too!
I went in to buy my children and game and shown by a coworker that this video game that I had purchased was going to work on our system. Unfortunately whenever we got home the video game was not compatible with our system. I’m so upset I wanted my money back but unfortunately I was told I had to have in store credit Even though I was unhappy with the service I was given.
Way over priced merch.
I have been a regular for over a decade and NEVER have got treated so badly first of all they can’t get release dates right one of my games witch comes out on the 9th they said comes put on the 30th so that’s fishy and so I wanted to cancel my preorders ao.i could get something else with my trade or IF the games came in I’d still buy them then the chick and the guy that was there October 2nd about 4 pm this happend they gave me a attitude and was like we will cancel just this one time but after this we won’t allow anymore cancels a and their reason was and I quote “It’s too much work” Your getting paid to do this that’s why it’s called a JOB IT’S WORK dont like it work else where and finally the cherry on top a ps4 pre owned controller I bought THEY SAID and I quote “we tested multiple times” bull I tested and had someone else tested on a MACHINE the left joy stick I BROKEN so they lied straight to my face I’M NOT HAPPY AND FOR ME THAT’S 45 BUCKS DOWN THE DRAIN I WON’T EVER GET BACK THAT’S THE PRICE OF A NEW GAME it’s no wonder slackers is doing so bad I’m surprised they’re not out of business yet
16. Miller Music Inc
Address: 4510 N Illinois St #3, Swansea, IL 62226 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
I took my clarinet in for repair after having lent it to my niece for several years, expecting the worst. The owner Steve took one look, showed that the repairs were minimal, and knew just what to do. He was prompt, efficient, and professional. Highly recommend!
I had to get my guitar restrung while I was in Belleville today. The gentleman who waited on me was very personable and knowledgeable about guitars. He strung my guitar quickly and efficiently, This shop is well stocked with all kinds of books and music for all instruments. I will be coming back when I am in the area.
Miller Music is the only place I would go for my musical needs. Steve is very knowledgeable and professional. His prices are the best in town and he helped my daughter pick out the perfect sax. I will recommended Miller Music to any parent looking to rent or purchase an instrument for the child.
They appear to no longer be in business.
I took my niece to Miller Music to see about having an issue fixed with her flute. The guy working looked at it for a few seconds and said he didn’t notice any issues (leaks) visible to the eye. I then asked if it would be okay for her to play the instrument for him so that he could listen, and hopefully make a diagnosis that way. He responded with, “Yeah, hurry up.” Needless to say, the instrument is still having an issue. When we purchased the couple of instruments we have, he was polite. Now that there’s an issue, “Mr. Nice Guy” left the building. I’d never recommend anyone to buy anything else from them again.
The owners were rude and condescending. I got the impression that not EVERYONE was welcome in their store. They may have a large selection of music, but I’ll take my money and my dignity to other music stores.
Do not put an item on consignment with this business. You will never hear from them again. Disgraceful business tactics + no communication regarding the issue. I will do everything possible to discredit this business.
17. Boogie’s II Restaurant
Address: 2082 Vadalabene Dr, Maryville, IL 62062 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
This is a great restaurant with very active amazing owners
Awesome wings great place to hang out and see any games. And did I mentions awesome wings and there huge. Great prices
Too noisy,,
Love the double dipped wings. Tuesday special $11.99 for 16 wings
Wings were good, touch tunes juke box is fun and good to have.
The wait was too long and we ended up leaving. Never gone to a bar and had to wait to be seated. Too bad because I was excited to try their food.
Went there looking for a tropical theme. NONE. Was sat at a table, received our water, and sat for 25 minutes while waitress moved around us but none willing to take our order. Terrible, will not go there again.
Ordered takeout tonight. Wings and a side of fries with cheese sauce, buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings, and the reuben with tots and cheese sauce. Got home and realized the side of fries for the wings was not there. The onion rings and tots had so much oil from the fryer that the wrap and reuben were both soggy. The fries and rings tasted like a large batch of fish was cooked just prior to tossing them into the fryer. They were fishy tasting gross. The corned beef on the reuben was dry and also tasted like fish.
The restaurant certainly has a cross contamination issue. Fortunately, I am not allergic to seafood.
I paid around $42 for food that was below subpar. I will not return, and will not recommend this restaurant.
18. Halpin Music Company
Address: 88 Northport Dr, Alton, IL 62002 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Great place and very nice staff will meet your music needs at any level.
Zoe, my granddaughter, takes violin lessons there. It is amazing what she has learned after just a few weeks.
Very Friendly and Knowledgeable Customer Service.
Whether you’re spending a little or a lot, they are eager to help.
Had just what I went for
Very helpful
Great service
It seems as though the technicians that repair instruments can’t repair the instruments correctly without having to send them out for repairs. The customer has to tell and show what exactly is broken or needs repairs. Th oo bad they are the only musical instrument repair shop in Alton
My son’s saxophone has been there a number of times. The last time he got it back the band director said that it wasn’t fixed. It went back and still hasn’t been fixed for 3 weeks! I have traveled down there in the past and had several words with them. This is the last time it goes back!
Never open on weekends! When do these people think musicians play and need gear??
19. Speakeasy Parlor
Address: 2713 N Center St, Maryville, IL 62062 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
Wonderful experience! The ambiance and decor are spot on. The food is delicious and the drinks are imaginative. Great spot for a chill evening with friends or for a date!
I went here tonight with my daughter for the second time and I am even more convinced that this place has the great future in store and I look forward to many visits. The jalapeno burger was fantastic, I love their fries, and their cocktails are quite unique and tasty! The service was great and I love the atmosphere too. The owner has creative ideas coming. If you have not given this place a try yet, you’re missing it.
We had a great time here! we loved the unique “password” special drink of the night and the other drinks as well! Loved the atmosphere and the service was great! The owner was extremely nice and checked on us multiple times. Can’t wait to come back and try the brunch soon!
Really nice cozy place. Food is good and service is attentive.
They were a little slow getting food out and disorganized. Still new so I assume it’ll get better but good to be aware of.
It’s a good hang and the staff are super nice so it wasn’t a huge deal.
20. Faith & Fellows Hair Salon
Address: 2921 N Center St, Maryville, IL 62062 , Maryville , Illinois , United States
I really love this Salon. It’s small and intimate. The stylists are very nice and its always so relaxing. Nikki is my stylist and she’s the BEST. She cares so much! She cares about maintaining good health of your hair while slaying the color. I say that because I have very dark natural hair and I go platinum blonde so the health of my hair is extremely important to me….I get the silvery/ashy look. I went in with such a mess of colors/tones, very uneven…..she’s worked really hard the past few times to get my hair more even and its seriously looks better and more even each time I go to her. I really appreciate her thoroughness and strive to always have it looking perfect. I will be a customer of hers for life! Thanks Nikki!
I had the best experience today with Hannah!! She made me feel pampered and did such an amazing job on my hair! I will for sure come back to Hannah and I will recommend everyone to come experience the wonderful atmosphere at Faith & Fellows Hair Salon. ❤❤
This was a great experience! Everyone was kind and such a positive environment. Nikki took the time to talk with me about my hair history to make sure I was happy walking out….Guess What? I was happy walking out. Thanks Nikki!
Wonderful environment, friendly staff, outstanding service. Love it!
Cute little shop. The owner was very friendly. Katie cut my hair. I wasn’t completely sure of what I wanted but I showed her a picture and told her what I did and did not want and she did a great job figuring me out! I made an appointment to go back to her. This is definitely my new salon!
Another GREAT visit at F2 today. Those ladies really know how to make everyone feel at ease and enjoy the whole salon experience. I have found the salon I will be going to the rest of my life!!! It is a fabulous place and anyone that has not visited them yet, you need to go. It will be your favorite salon too!!!!
Quoted over $200 for a color touchup and bang trim. I’ve had my total hair done for $80 with all over foils for years. Inflated pricing.
