The staff here is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Even though I am a complete beginner guitar player, Michael did not mind spending time with me to explain the basics of picking a first guitar. The selection is not huge, but they have a wide range of low, medium and high priced options. They seem carry the brands and models that are the best quality at each price point.
The guitar I ended up buying was an unusual size and they were the only local store that had a hard case that fit right. It was lined with green velvet to boot! Thanks Michael!
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
Good selection, helpful staff.
It’s alright. If you’re looking for Orchestra stuff I would recommend Telford and Sons.
The Dunkley’s have failed. Mark Dunkley has shown his true colors as a man that does not care about Boise, his Neighbors, and open space in Boise. I encourage all to patronise Welch Music.
He(they), sold out for money. Typical.
My wife, son, and I went to Dunkleys to do a little piano shopping as we had sold her piano a few years back and have now moved into a new home and have space again. Spent 10 minutes walking around looking at the various options without so much as a hello from anyone working there. Noone seemed overly busy but neither did they seem interested in helping us. Love supporting local but if you do not want my business you will not get it.
This would be a wonderful music store if it wasn’t for the poor customer service for the folk who come in who are judged based on appearance and/or their apparent wealth or lack thereof. I have been playing piano and trombone for more than half my life now and my daughter is about to enter 6th grade. She has tried the trombone but is more interested in playing tuba. The staff told her she was too little, that the other instrument she was interested in — bassoon — was “really rare,” [too] expensive, and that starting on a double reed instrument was a really bad idea…oh, and did I mention that she was just way too short to play the instruments she wanted? This is not their place to decide and I have played alongside MANY petite, thin, and amazing female tuba players. Staff should not provide input on what instruments myself or anyone else “should” play, nor place any limits on their customer. Their job is to sell instruments and they can do so without being condescending or insulting.
6. Idaho Percussion Academy
Address: 621 W Broadway Ave, Meridian, ID 83642 , Meridian , Idaho , United States
Vincent does a wonderful job educating my son on a variety of percussion instruments to help improve his performance in middle school. Vincent has a wealth of knowledge. My son really enjoys going to his weekly lessons!
Vincent is so patient. My 7-year old just started taking lessons with Vincent. He patiently answers all her questions and directs each lesson towards what my child shows interest in that day. His studio is full of different instruments and you can tell that the child’s interest and enjoyment is most important. Vincent clearly loves what he does and is eager to help his students find their own joy.
I highly recommend Idaho Percussion Academy. Our daughter has been taking Vincent to lessons for years and really has taken her to the next level. He always challenged her but in a highly positive environment.
I received excellent help from Dave with finding a guitar tuner. I look forward to coming back here in the future.
I’ve shopped with these guys since the late 90s. They are a great music store, they have quality service, quality merchandise. they are a leader in the music industry in the community, the have unmatched tradition of excellence.
Extremely helpful, personable and knowledgeable staff.
General music store. Several Baby Grand pianos, a limited number of guitar brands, sheet music, and a few accessories.
It apparently takes them 3 days just to put on 4 strings on a violin. Cool and pretty stuff just I think their taking their own time.
Awesome baby grand pianos and many other instruments, very friendly staff
RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Rented a cello. The gave me student cello. Didn’t want to add note stickers on but gave me a pack for 8.00. This was the worst instrument I have ever seen. It could not be tuned. And the sound was pretty bad. I took it back in 3 days asked for a refund to which I received a prompt NO. Then I said to the man at the counter if you give this cello to a kid it’s going to turn him or her off to playing it. I imagined he would say I will take a look at it. But instead he came out swinging and proceeded to tell me off. I felt upset and hurt somewhat when I left. Went to Dunkley music they have better instruments and kinder people working there. They offered to add the stickers on without me asking. That was an easy 70.00 for Welch!
Do not youse there piano moving service. They chipped a good chunk of my piano, and didn’t take any responsibility for the incident! Go to Dorsey music, or any other store! JUST DONT LET WELCH MUSIC MOVE YOUR PIANO!
I have been a huge Jesse fan for a long time and when I found out he was teaching I couldnt sign up fast enough. Hes teaching me all sorts of nuances to playing guitar that I didnt even know about. Sign up!! Learn to ROCK!!
The Riff Smith is a totally new take on musical instruction. It allows you to learn in the comfort of your home. No driving or even moving your instrument from A to B.
Jesse is talented, dedicated and engaging. He offers a lifetime of professional musical experience. I highly recommend the Riff Smith! Nick
Jesse is one of the most passionate people I have come to know. From his love for his family, his faith and his music. As he speaks and sings, the people feel the grace he emminates. I hope to find his passion and drive within myself.
