Great shop! Good selection, much better than national chains
Very personal service
Remix is a friendly, family owned local business in NW Arkansas. With high standards for customer service, they provide lessons for beginners, instruments to purchase and equipment for your events. Frequent jam sessions are open to musicians on a regular basis, as well.
Love the selection and staff is friendly. Laid back atmosphere.
We bought a guitar here for our son a couple weeks back. One guy was way too salesy and talked too much but I like supporting local so we bought one.
Friendly’s staff knows equipment.
Firstly, this shop provides great service on guitars, setups and string changes. But beware of purchasing a guitar that is not currently hanging on their shelf. For example, the Fender American Professional II Strat, comes in 9 different colors. If you want a color that isn’t hanging on their wall, they will offer to get it for you, but it will be considered a “special order” and not eligible to be returned. This is an odd policy since they are an authorized Fender dealer. If you order the guitar direct from Fender, or Sweetwater, or any other online retailer, the guitar is eligible for return no questions asked. So essentially, trying to support a small shop will eliminate any guarantees offered by the manufacturer. Understand, I realize a small shop has limitations and must do what’s best for their bottom line. However, it was never communicated to me “hey if I order this guitar for you, it’s unreturnable.” The thought never crossed my mind to ask, since the item I ordered was a stock offering from Fender, nothing special or custom about it. It’s extremely surprising that a Fender dealer is not able to provide the same customer satisfaction policies that are in place by Fender themselves. Most of the guitars hanging on the walls are mid-tier or entry level guitars, so if you want something better, and you want the peace of mind to return it if you’re not happy with it, then I suggest looking elsewhere. If you need a great setup on your guitar, ReMix can do it.
Love this place but couldn’t find what I was looking for.
I will never deal with them again,
I would like everyone that may read this to know that this business has absolutely NO AFFILIATION with Lee Hight or the original Musicians Pro Shop in Springdale.
The fact that they are trying to use the name as their slogan is very disappointing to me & my family and misleading to potential customers.
Please quit trying to profit off of my dad’s legacy.
Edited to respond to your response:
First, the response you gave me here and the response you gave on Facebook present two different ideas: one playing dumb and one asking permission. That alone shows your dishonesty. At least be consistent.
Second, my uncle Larry did not own the Musicians Pro Shop. He’s an easy going guy but he cannot give any real permission to use a name of a business that he did not own. I do not blame him for this though.
Third, the fact that you are sticking to the legality argument just shows that you lack morals because we are well aware that what you are doing is not illegal. My family has been reached out to numerous times regarding your awning and billboard by people that are furious. I worked at a music store for 6 years in the area and met dozens and dozens of people who told me they knew my dad and shared great stories about him. Your narrative that “no one remembers the business 25 years later” is very rude and naive to say. I’d be willing to bet that no one will remember Remix music in 25 years.
Last, you could have used your response to apologize, show empathy and explain yourself in a much better way that I would’ve respected you for. Instead you chose to gaslight me and be defensive.
As a local business, you depend on your community to pay your bills. Angering your local community is the last thing you’d want to do. This is a bad look for you and it will come back to bite you at some point. Best of luck.
2. Palmer Music Company
Address: 1131 Front St, Conway, AR 72032 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The instructors are excellent at teaching.
The instructors there are amazing.. my boyfriend and his three kids get lessons there… Preston runs a great business !
Staff is knowledgeable and have great customer service! Love this store and wouldn’t shop anywhere else. Excellent repair shop and service after the sale. I drive over 100 miles to buy from Palmer’s because they are the best at what they do!
My guitar was in for repairs for about 4 months. Almost no communication was provided about status of the repair work. It’s understandable with Covid making it difficult to have parts shipped, but the lack of adequate communication was uncomfortably disappointing. I don’t blame the young individual who was working on my guitar, but rather leadership who should have provided direction on appropriate and timely customer service communication. It doesn’t matter to me that it would have taken considerable time for repairs. But the lack of communication stating that due to a backlog in parts, and it was just a waiting game, would have been enough. A 30 second phone call every couple of weeks or so to advise a customer that no progress has been made is better than nothing…it would have been enough to have left my guitar there for months longer. The ironic thing about all this is that I really like the store and the people at Palmer Music, so I will most likely continue to purchase my music supplies from them and I hope my experience there was a one-off….
Usually busy because they’re good at what they do!
Talked to Joey in the store today. He took some time to help me plan for an upcoming purchase for our church. They have a large selection of all kinds of musical instruments and they do lessons, as well. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Highly recommended! Thanks, Joey!
Went in expecting to buy a new guitar on 01/26/2023. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly & unhelpful.
I found one I wanted to buy but I just didn’t really want to give my money to a person who didn’t know how to smile.
Another employee walked by and was even more emotionless than the other guy. I left feeling very unwelcome.
I will not be back.
Go to GUITAR CENTER instead (you can actually have FUN there).
3. Guitar Center
Address: 160 E Joyce Blvd, Fayetteville, AR 72703 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
Great store. Had everything we were looking for. The guy, Isreal, who helped us was great. He was very helpful, friendly, and would definitely ask for him to help us if when go again
Great selection
This place is hit or miss with me. They have a very wide selection of instruments and equipment but their store is often crowded and dirty. Their selection of acoustic guitars is pretty pathetic. Most of the guitars have scratches on them and are constantly out of tune. The workers are pretty friendly and helpful but I wouldn’t recommend buying any serious equipment here.
I ordered a used guitar online. Shipping was a little slower than average, but not crazy. The guitar arrived in very nice condition with some appreciated extras, but had limited adjustability on the truss rod, which would have been nice to know upfront. Overall, I was happy with the level of service and would potentially purchase another guitar from this location.
A rather large Guitar Center especially for a smaller city. I’m not a big fan of GC simply because they hurt local music stores that almost always do a better job at serving real musicians. I will give this location credit for having a somewhat knowledgeable staff, rare for GC.
Selection not great, witnessed a “protection plan” upsell that was really awkward. No Ibanez or Charvel models
Dont get the pro coverage, it is a scam. They did not cover a midi keyboard with a broken key.
I paid, and the dude just shoved my brand new cymbal in a plastic bag, with all the other stuff I bought. After doing some research, it seems this is SOP for GC. Sucks they are pretty much the only game in town. Their prices are good, though.
4. Palen Music Center
Address: 4093 W Sunset Ave #101, Springdale, AR 72762 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
I took my broken instrument in and it came out way better than I expected. I’m loving it. They’re amazing.
Jennifer has been super helpful while we were working to upgrade my high schoolers trombone. She patiently answered questions and checked in to ensure we had what we needed. Jennifer and Palen have been a pleasure to work with and I’ll definitely seek them out in the future.
They didn’t have the trumpet I wanted but they got me the best trumpet now we just wait for about a few day and that’s it
Very informative and easy to work with
Very easy to rent an instrument for my kiddo. Packages are affordable, website was very user-friendly.
Nice store
I took my flute to Palen Music in Springdale, AR for a Key and pad adjustment on January 22, 2021. They said the instrument will be kept in quarantine for 3 days, then they will look at it. They took my credit card info, gave me a receipt and Left. Latter part of the next week I called to see if my instrument is ready to pick up. They said the flute is not ready because they wanted to give me an estimate before fixing it. She gave me the estimate on the phone and said we call you when it is ready. I did not hear from anyone the next week and I called back. They said it takes usually two weeks to repair, so we ‘ll have it by Thursday and call you. Thursday, I did not hear from anyone. I called on Friday and asked them if my flute was ready. After a long wait she came back and said the instrument is not ready and it will be next week. At that time, I told them I am picking up my instrument since it has been exactly three weeks to this day. She Also let me know that they already had charged my credit card. When I got there, they had not issued me the credit. After waiting another 20 minutes for that, they told me they can’t get hold of the accountant to issue the credit at this time but they will send it to my email account. I picked up my instrument on 2/12/’21 and left. A bad experience for me.
Thoroughly disappointed. The lady who greeted me behind the counter seemed displeased I was there from the moment I walked in. She was quick to inform me that they “dont do repairs on guitars” And they had no “Acoustic” Bass Strings. I’m not even sure she took the time to understand what I was looking for. Huge misunderstanding on my end I guess, because their website lead me to believe they repair musical instruments, specifically string instruments. There was no bold or fine print saying “we don’t do repairs on guitars”. Hours later I received a message request via Facebook from a man claiming to have “worked” at Palen music. I am not sure how he found me on there which is very unsettling. He wanted to send me free things provided i give him an address I am sure. This entire experience is very uncomfortable and creepy. Do not recommended leaving a bad review because they will track you down. How unprofessional can you be?
5. Shuffield Music Company
Address: 610 Main St, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
Gotta enjoy this place. I mostly go for strings for my guitars, primarily D’addario, Dunlop, and Exlir, which they carry here. I’ve bought the handful of others, though: straps, picks, cables (Stagg, to be exact). All solid and worth it. Quality stuff here.
A very friendly place with knowledgeable staff!!
Good folks here, it is a pleasure to deal with Paul he is a kind hearted person and eager to help, he also is a great musician and knows his way around the guitar.
Not to bad
Great local music store. We have shopped here for years.
Good place to buy guitars, don’t ask them to fix anything you own uness you want it damaged.
Rude
6. Arkansas Musicworks
Address: 2400 SE J St, Bentonville, AR 72712 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
Shopping with Arkansas Musicworks is always a very pleasant experience, they always ship on time and have high quality products.
Thank you and soon certaly we will buy some more product.
Our experience with Musicworks has been amazing. They are knowledgeable, professional and yet fun. They provide excellent service. My only complaint is that they send instruments out for service and they can’t control the time a repair or service will take.
Great staff, great selection, reasonable prices and quick turnaround for setups and repairs. If you play guitar and live in NWA, then this should be your go-to spot.
A very good place for music instruments and music classes
They carry a pretty good variety of brands. Good place to go if bored. Although they definitely need to change their drum policy, “You can only play the drums if you’re gonna buy them.” How is someone supposed to know if they want the drums unless they play them. You’ll just have to roll your dice I guess, not a good idea.
Friendly staff.
They put my kid in their waiting list 3 months back. We tried to call instructor 3 times and left voice messages but no response ever. It is so unprofessional and we did not like it….
Selection was ok. Only 2 left handed guitars both strata, no lefty basses. Limited drum selection. Good selection of music books and accessories, though. Guy behind the counter (older dude named Tom) was a jerk both times I’ve been in there. Will not be going back
Brought my guitar into get work done on it. Neck reset and put new strings on it. They ship it out to the luthier who gives it back in worse condition than I gave it to them in. DO NOT USE!
7. Renown Music
Address: 104 W F Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72116 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
TL;DR Review: I can’t say enough nice things about this place. If you’re in doubt, go in and find out.
I had my Strat set up at Guitar Center ten years ago with 13 gauge strings. A decade older, I decided that I don’t play hard enough to warrant 13s, so I asked a musician friend of mine who he’d trust with his most valued instruments. He said Renown was it, so I headed over.
I walked in on a Wednesday, asked for a setup for lighter strings. The staff were helpful and openly gave recommendations when I didn’t really know what to say after they asked what kind of strings I’d like. I settled on Stringjoy light gauge strings. They promised Tuesday of the following week due to the heavy workload they’d received recently.
I got the call two days later on Friday; it was ready to be picked up. When I got my guitar back, their charge was WAY cheaper than Guitar Center (like a fraction of the cost), and my guitar plays better than it ever has. No fret buzz, no intonation issues, and sooo comfortable. I played for about three minutes, and said aloud to an empty room, “Wow.”
I love this place and I’m probably going to take them my Martin this week.
Very excited to have a music lessons studio/repair shop so close to home! The teachers are very knowledgeable and they offer a wide variety of lessons. The location is great & very convenient. They’re also the only place on this side of the river that offers guitar repair & sells strings. Great atmosphere, great people, excellent work. Highly recommend Renown.
You can trust Renown with any of your stringed instrument repair needs. The owner is very professional and has many years of experience. I wouldn’t take my guitars or basses anywhere else. They have some great teachers if you are wanting to learn something as well.
8. Olsen’s Music Center
Address: 112 N Commerce Ave, Russellville, AR 72801 , Neudorf , Arkansas , United States
I go into this place any chance I get. They have the best selection in guitars out of everyone in the rest of the area. The entire staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and I would recommend anybody to go here. If you haven’t been here, you need to go as soon as possible.
A true old school music store, far from the “sweet child o’ mine” guitar solos at the big box store…
Kind of tight getting into even bobtail, but definitely worth the effort. Got the old six string restrung for a song and dance and traded a Boss RC3 for a better looper and feel like we both made a good deal.
Only regret was when I got home tonight I found the box and paperwork for the looper I traded, now I’ll feel like a scoundrel until I can get this to them.
This is why mean people will always lose out, they leave no incentive for others to do what’s right.
I love places like this, and definitely got the vibe it’s a family business…
Best wishes and God bless, I’ll definitely be back!
Good selection
Sort of snobby to the common folks. But had what I needed.
My mom needed something
Not a real music store
Terrible customer service! So glad i took my money elsewhere! I told the obvious manager or owner that i was new at guitars but was excited to get something to start off with AND the first thing he recommended was the MOST EXPENSIVE ONE! Thats like someone going to buy their first car and the car salesman recommends a Ferrari..! All.about the money and NOTHING about the customer. Didnt offer to let me hear a certain one and was standing so close the whole time without really showing an insterest in what type of music i play or listen to… ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!! Never again!
Stood in Olsen’s music store patiently waiting for the guy working alone that’s been “covered up” to hook up an amp for 2 guys there before me. Walked by me to get a guitar to hook up while I was standing at the counter ready to check out. He then sits down and plays for them. REALLY!!! 15 minutes later I walk over to put the $100 item back and I kid you not he then says, ” are you ready”. Man, I’ve been ready for 15 minutes. I’m the only paying customer in the store, because I can assure you the two guys you’re having to demonstrate the guitar and amp for aren’t buying JACK! They’re draining your time and your money. Time management is not rocket science!
