Fantastic facility with amazing vintage gear! It’s run by a multi-platinum record producer who knows how to get the sound you want.
In 1988 I was in a local group called, “Creativedge” and had the fine opportunity to record at Avalanche. This is a World Class Studio commissioned by many Major Label Recording Artists, some of which were my favorites! The studio has an exquisite layout and artful design and I instantly fell in love with the soundboard and amazing control room. I could not believe how incredible my drums and everything else sounded here! Really great experience and the best of memories!
2. Monarch Accordians/Yma Music
Address: 9255 Washington St, Thornton, CO 80229 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
Many years ago we took an old accordion to Mike for repair. We had purchased it online, and he was great in telling us it had termites. He wrote us a letter we used to gat our money back and we then purchase a nice, used accordion, which our son played for about 8 years. We just had him repair a 100 year old German accordion. He did a wonderful job at a fair price. It sounds so much better. Two thumbs up to Mike at Monarch Accordion.
Wonderful experience! They were super friendly, helpful and knowable. The owner was able to answer all of my questions. I’ve never had a bad experience coming here.
Been taking lessons here for a few years now, and bought an accordion here. Reasonable prices, very skilled teachers, good accordions.
3. Apex Music Academy
Address: 2551 E 110th Ave, Northglenn, CO 80233 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
Tyler is phenomenal. Our daughter connected with him immediately – not the easiest thing for her to do. He’s a great musician, and able to tailor each lesson – as needed – to keep our piano-learner interested and having fun. VERY highly recommended!!
As an older beginning guitarist these lessons have been great. Cayden is amazing and so helpful and friendly. We view him as part of the family and I respect his music and his help.
We’ve been very happy with Apex Music Academy. We’ve worked with Matt, Chris and Tyler and they have taught my 3 kids both piano and guitar. I love that they come to my house and they are great teachers and great people.
Bought a TV obline for 50% off, which was great. Then we did the curbside pickup, and it took less than 5 minutes for them to bring out the TV. I am very pleased with the price and the service.
Has everything any best buy could have
Sales people are great, very helpful, and knowledgeable. Geek squad has helped me many times.
Best buy busy box has been a favorite of mine for years.
I just wish they were more competitive on pricing. With the web available ots only a little patience and anyone can get anything for half the price.
I know they say shop local buy local and support local, but retail stores are so greedy most of the time you pay double what you do online.
Thats my two cents.
This store is always on top of things got our new TV and it is installed and we love it thanks best buy on 104th
They have everything I need, just difficult to get good help
This guy was extremely rude, and when were checking out and item he kept staying around making us feel very uncomfortable. In the end we left not buying anything. Very rude employee.
Manager Hannah was excessively rude, unprofessional, and wouldn’t accept a return with receipt and all. I had to get best buy corporate on the line and even they told her to accept the return. She refused
Finally best buy corporate got tired of arguing and sent me a shipping label to return my item. I wasted 45 minutes because Hannah is a terrible human being
They never have what I need. Retail is dead
6. Old Wagon Antique Mall
Address: 10685 Melody Dr B, Northglenn, CO 80234 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
This is the best store I have ever endured , the guy that runs it is really nice, Everytime I bring someone there we get stuck for hours , cool things.
I love this mall. The owner is extremely welcoming & friendly. There are always new treasures to be found and lots of sales. We always enjoy our visits.
Mid century stuff.
You could spend hours inside here.
Lot of different things to look at and buy.
The minute you walk in the door your treated like a criminal following you around the store and if your not old and white your not welcome there
Prices were too high.
We were sailing a antique chair an they offer us a very low price for it.
7. Redbox
Address: 10410 Melody Dr, Northglenn, CO 80234 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
My granddaughter’s violin was given to ger for Christmas and was not put together. So when we took it to them to get strung she was great n tried but unfortunately the bridge was not the right one. But we appreciate the effort to try to make it work. Thanks again
The employees are musicians and understand what I am talking about
I am a music teacher. This is my go to for lesson books for my students.
Organized and clean nice staff they don’t buy instruments
Was able to buy a great violin
Walked in, no hello, no what can I help you with. Walk over to case where violins are which is right in front of the 2 men and I guess I must have been a ghost because I wasn’t acknowledged. So not even going to waste my time.
They double charge, instructors don’t show up on time or at all.
Why everyday is this store closed I’ve been trying to get a hold of someone since Sunday when Google says there open and I go only to see sorry we’re closed sign on the door. Today it says their closed as well.
10. Rocky Mountain Music Repair
Address: 2150 W 6th Ave E, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Stopping by is like seeing old friends. Brian clearly has a passion for music and instrument repair, and he keeps up with the latest techniques. Plus, they are staunch supporters of local music, and as a Boulder Concert Band member, I appreciate that a lot. I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Music Repair!
I went in this past week for a repair. My son’s trumpet valve wasn’t working. I was in and out in 5 minutes with a fixed instrument! Super friendly and helpful!!!
Professional, patient, and friendly staff.
Looking for a bell cover for wife’s French Horn. Wife got a call today from Rocky Mountain Music that bell covers came in today. And can pick up anytime.
Nice people, but if it’s not a brass instrument, forget it.
It took a while and it’s pretty expensive, but they did a great job fixing up my horn, definitely worth it.
Terrible establishment. Extremely unfriendly, unknowledgeable staff and very over-priced.
11. Guitar Center
Address: 8601 Sheridan Boulevard G, Arvada, CO 80003 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
There open, at least a little bit. Only a few customers at a time.
I needed a recorder and they had one! Whoo hoo
Went in for a present for our son, was helped out by several employees who were both kind and knowledgeable. Gave us recommendations in our price range and even helped out with giving a free case.
The staff are knowledgeable. They take the time to help you but they also give you time to try the instruments without pushing a sale.
Staff were a bit odd to check out your merchandise it was a little odd of where to stand of who or who would help you display was well presented variety was nice and there was some discounts
A lot of variety in guitars, pedals, picks, cables. There’s a section for keyboards and drummers, too.
I went for a noise gate and they only have one model in stock.
Recommended.
Mucha variedad de guitarras, pedales, púas, cables.
Fuí por un noise gate, y sólo tenían en stock un modelo.
También hay una sección para teclados y baterías.
Recomendable.
Horribly understaffed, what staff is there is usually struggling to keep customers from walking out. Great brick and mortar for guitarists, okay for keyboards, barely serviceable for drummers. If you play anything else, stick with the innerwebs, avoid the frustration.
Horrible customer service from cashier 051519 Christopher J. M. at the main desk. I got what I needed so there’s that. However after this experience I’ll stick to buying online from other retailers.
Workers there are very rude, every time I’ve been there
12. 710 Pipes
Address: 930 W 104th Ave, Northglenn, CO 80234 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
This is my go-to pipe shop. Everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful, Nathaniel was so positive and answered all of my questions without judgement. He’s one of my favorite workers, he’s always there and always working his butt off. If you have any questions, ask his advice, he’s very knowledgeable and honest. Can’t beat the prices either, all great quality stuff. But even with the great deals, in retail; customer service is everything and they know how to take care of us stoners. Thank you 710, you rock!!!!
Shopped here a few times and have always had a good experience. Jay tends to be the one who helps me out and he’s always super chill. Def a good spot, got my favorite beaker for $100 OTD.
I came in the other day and the second I walked in Dylan was there greeting me with the most helpful advice I’ve ever heard (helped me get my doctored in medical science!!) As it was my first time in a glass shop. 10/10 would recommend especially if Dylan is there p.s Dylan will let you borrow her Lambo if you ask nicely 😉
It’s pretty good. Selection of concentrates although their edible selection is lacking just a little bit. I didn’t even look at the flower so I can’t vote on that. I dealt with a guy named Josh he was extremely helpful and nice
I was shocked by the selection. So much to choose from. I was unaware there was so much information regarding glass pieces. Great location, easy to find and much better prices than at the dispensary. Don’t get your glass from a dispensary, come to a place like this. 🙂
Not a huge selection for vaping coukd of had more coils and juice flavors service was ok they dont have a restroom for the public which is too bad sense i was on limited time and really had to go so i only got the one thing i needed and didnt get to look around to see other things i might want i normally average around 200 in purchasing when i go to a vape shop this time it was only 2o. Maybe good idea to rethink bathroom policy
***in response to Russ the owner***
Yes I’m sure I’m reviewing the right place, you’re next to the dispensary and the liquor store. This is the average of 3 trips here so it seems pretty typical. I posted it late because I was busy but after a little soul searching I figure that I might save someone the headache of going into 710 pipes! A review under mine says that they’ll match or beat anyone’s price but when I said I wasn’t going to buy something because of the price I had to argue my way out. Head shops and vapes imo are 99% customer service and 1% price. You have neither. Good luck sustaining your business and getting a handle on respecting your customers (which won’t include me).
*original review*
2 stars for the location only. That said, this has been outweighed by an extremely rude staff.
Having to listen to the end of a raunchy story, or argue with the elderly employee about whether or not I can find something cheaper elsewhere or online (I can) are the highlights of an overall unpleasant three trips to this store.
Came in bought a vape left came back a few hours later because the vape just stopped working there’s nothing they can do about it I spent 40 bucks won’t ever have me as a customer they should at least replace it if not a discount or something would definitely not recommend coming here there product don’t work and the dude in there is very food
Way overpriced
13. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
After some questions about the store schedule I was finally able to visit this store and boy was it worth it. Really cool guitar selection, very welcoming environment (owner was not there but I’m definitely looking forward to meeting), we jammed out for a while and I walked out with a new Epiphone acoustic guitar. Probably one of the best experiences I’ve had in a guitar store. Will definitely return!
Update: Two years later and I was able to meet the owner, Dave.
The atmosphere is still as welcoming as I remembered and everyone goes out of their way so you can walk out with the right guitar for you. “Other Dave” helped me out with my selection and I couldn’t be happier. Monkton Guitars is the best!
Monkton is easily one of the best guitar shops I have ever visited. 10/10. High quality inventory and exceptional staff/owner.
Just got my thinline telecaster back from service from Monkton and I couldn’t be more impressed by the tone coming out of this instrument, which I thought I knew so well previously, only to just now be discovering it’s potential. Perfect intonation, beautiful tone, and playability I wouldn’t have thought possible. Do yourself a favor and bring in your guitar for a service here, even if you don’t think it needs one. It does. And these are the folks to do it.
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
Best shop around!
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
14. Car Toys
Address: 10545 Melody Dr, Northglenn, CO 80234 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
They were very busy but they still took the time to take care of us. We had remote start put in our Lincoln Town car and Avalanche. Got a good deal for black Friday they do need to fix their phone system
These guys are pretty great. Both the GM Chip and one of the other managers Chad are very professional and helpful as well as the shop manager Chris. You guys really squared away the situation I brought to you today and I thank you. I’ll be back for another alarm and 2 more navigation decks very soon!!! See you then guys
Come see Cosmo and dominic stores awesome man great deals come on on !!
Very knowledgeable and very pleasant employees.
They have a wide range of products and Patrick was very helpful, knowledgeable, and honest with what is good and not as well as what they can provide.
Great service
Terrible experience!
I had gotten a remote start for my truck for Christmas! Of course being happy to get it in as soon as possible I called the Northglenn Location wanting to get it installed ASAP. I spoke to them at 8 am on 12/26/18. They said If I can leave my truck them for the day that they can get it installed today. I took my truck in and got it to the shop at about 840 AM and the installer said that he will have my remote start installed by about 5 is his thought due to a few vehicles ahead of mine. He did said at the very worst he said it will be done closer to the 8-9 PM time. Knowing that information I said let’s go ahead and get it going.
I left my truck there, and called the shop at about 330PM to just check in for an update and the response I got was it will be a few more hours(would fall in line with what I was told originally). About three and a half hours later I received a call from the installer said he is getting to my truck now and will be closer to the 830-9PM time frame. So first problem is now why am I being told he is just now getting to it even through I was told 3 hours earlier should be done about now.
So as the shop closes at 9PM I showed up at about 8Pm hoping my truck should be done shortly. When I got there I asked for an update and the guys from the front desk went and checked with the installer and he said he is having some technical issues shouldnt be much longer. Now it is 9PM and I still have not heard anything. So again I have them check and he said he is still having technical issues. Now it is 945PM and I still have not gotten my truck, all the response I have gotten is they are still having technical issues. I have now talked to the manager that was there and he keeps checking for me but doesn’t have any updates for me.
At this point I am explaining my frustration with the manager that they have had my vehicle for over 13 1/2 hours and I still don’t have my truck and I was told it would be done close to the 5 PM and it’s 10PM. I get it things happen and such but not a 5 plus hour screw up. The manager said there is nothing he can do for me for any of my inconvenience. At about 1030PM the manager says they still are having the same error technical issue and either I can leave the truck or come back and get it the next day and still no help with making this terrible experience any better. Just as I was trying to line up a ride home at 1035PM the manager said they figured out the issue why it wasn’t working, the installer says that he flipped a couple of wires and the remote start is now working properly! This is after they had my truck for 14hours and it is now 1040 PM at night.
I then said how much longer and they said maybe 10 min to get everything put back together. So I then had to call and cancel my ride. And still nothing from the manager for this terrible inconvenience. I had finally left the shop at 1050 almost 6 hours past when I was told my truck should be done.
After receiving my truck and I was heading home and got on I 25 I had noticed my hood was bouncing. I had to pull over because they didn’t even close my hood completely thank goodness for the extra emergency latch on hoods.
This was a terrible experience and very disappointed this wasn’t handled different from the management.
Price is outrageous
The floor sales guy quoted me $480.00 For an external backup camera on my 1997 GMC 2500 pick up…really?!?! Then I asked how much to replace the front and rear speakers, $530.00 just for labor for both. After his: “I’ll be right back, gotta go talk to my installers” secret meeting. Ended up getting a 5 star rated hardwired backup camera off of Amazon for $31.00 and installed it myself.
Got the speakers replace for $360.00 with mid to high end brand with install elsewhere.
This place drags consumers in on their “no interest no/low payment option”
Save your time and money and do your homework before spending way too much money at this place.
Our 1979 Randall RSM-150 solid state was an unmolested survivor and total a unicorn find. It blew a cap, so we took it to a Broomfield area shop that will remain unnamed but is supposed to be the best in the biz and where everyone goes. A simple repair, right? Well, from there it was all downhill. 12 weeks later (yes, 12 weeks) with incorrect voltage caps installed backwards and generally unsafe and shoddy work, we got back a total and complete hack job. A really unbelievable hack job. Like mind blowingly so. They basically trashed the amp.
Not sure where to turn, I came across Tommy’s Instagram page and was intrigued. Even though the amp was under warranty from the first shop, after 12 weeks and multiple unsuccessful attempts to repair the amp there, my intuition was telling me to take it elsewhere. I mean, I’m not a glutton for punishment. But I liked what I saw on Tommy’s page and so I took a shot and made an appointment.
Well, thank goodness for Tommy. To make a long story short, he diagnosed and reversed all the terrible work performed at the other shop, repaired what needed repairing and made the amp safe. Its sounds amazing once again and will go on to live and rock for another 40+ years. Thank goodness for his expertise. Tommy is a true professional and a joy to deal with. He’s just a good all-around person. We are now dedicated customers and will not go anywhere else in town. For any amp repair needs, vintage or modern, Tommy at Filament Amp Works is the place to go and the man to see.
Thank you so much Tommy for taking such good care of our gear and making everything right! You Rock!!!
Filament offers a wide range of services, has a quick turnaround, and is very reasonably priced. It’s not easy finding a reliable amp tech in Denver and Tommy does top-level work with great customer communication. I even referred a friend once who had a finicky Ampeg 4V that no one else was able to diagnose. Tommy was able to fix it quickly and at less of a cost than expected. I trust him with all of my gear and always recommend Filament to other musicians in the Denver area.
Tommy does a killer job with amp repair and even building amps himself. I got an orange head from him that was carefully maintained, and was a very fair price. For any amplification needs in Colorado, He’s the one!
Brought a couple amps and a cab for Tommy to fix, and told I just needed them running. The first amp only required a couple tubes and a cap replaced. I pay for the parts and he hits me with a $500 labor bill (on top of $200 in parts) without even consulting me first. He did a bunch of unnecessary work, basically a refurb, without consulting me. I hooked him up with a bunch of studio time a few years ago, and he repays me with an outrageous bill that I didn’t even ask for. I wouldn’t trust him at all.
Seriously cool shop with a ton of options and knowledgeable, helpful staff. The big music stores fall short by a long shot, in comparison.
Guys are cool and always up for trades. They are willing to work with you to get the gear you want at a great trade or price. Never a bad experience.
I love going into this shop just to see what unique stuff they have in that day. I’ve sold a lot of gear to them over the years and they have consistently paid more than other places In town. I recommend Gravity if you want a quick buyer for your gear, or if you’re like me, you can trade for something cool that comes in and end up with more gear than you have space for.
La atención es buena , pero no ay quien te atienda en español y les falta un técnico para probar el equipo que están vendiendo
Each visit seems like a never ending quest for treasure. Lot’s of spare hardware, effect pedals, guitar’s , Bass, banjo PA gear…one never knows what might have just arrived.
It has come a long way in the last 2 years. It was off and on pretty sparse in there and not much staff. But my latest visit with my brother who bought a beautiful beautiful instrument at a very good price., the place had changed quite a bit it was well stocked with guitars electric and acoustic guitars as well as several nice amps. There was plenty of knowledgeable staff on hand. I will return. I’m happy I gave it another chance. One or two bad experiences is no reason not to give a business another go. Especially a local business.
Recently made them an offer for a hi-hat they had listed on an online auction site. Their admin laughed at my offer and told me next time I want something to “not be so cheap”! Do not do business with such rude people.
It’s a pawn shop, not a guitar store. Make sure you diligently check anything before buying it. Bought a guitar with a bolt on neck and the bolts had been loosened to make it playable. By the shop? By the original seller? Who knows? New saddle and a setup and it’s fine, but buyer beware you might have to pay to fix anything you buy here.
Avoid this “music store” (pawn shop) at all cost. The owner was not knowledgeable at all regarding high-end music equipment and then proceeded to low-ball an offer as he did not believe we knew the value of our equipment. We were then screamed at after requesting a fair price and insulted. We packed up our equipment to leave and then we were followed and insulted more as we were trying to leave. Then the owner threatened to call the police (not sure for what reason) as we were leaving and instructed us to stay put. The store is in a very “sketchy” area and I do not recommend visiting unless you want to be taken advantage of and accosted.
This location is incredible! All the staff is friendly and kind. I have received so much help from them this past week with wedding signage. Abs- at the printing center is amazing!
This place is very helpful and friendly. These women manager and helper they know what they doing. They are very competence. They know what they are doing and very knowledgeable. Keep up great job that you do!
Just wanted to give a shout-out to Abz at the printing and copy! She was so helpful and spent the time to fix my file to print correctly!!
Employees where really nice and helpful great customer service!
Only thing is that there was product on the shelf that they didn’t have in stock when you asked for it. Danny was really nice and offered me the same brand in a different product and gave me a 5$ discount for the inconvenience which was much appreciated. Thanks Danny!
Went there with a friend to get a copy cartridge online it was $18 we got there it was 27
Do not waste your time!
Floor team and manager we’re extremely rude when I asked for assistance. I went in to use the printing service and possibly buy paper from the store. After I was “helped” I promptly left the store. I did not buy anything nor will I be back. I do not recommend going to this store.
Horrible customer service. Spoke with the manager and just walked out. Will not go to this store again.
