Barista was nice! I got a hot hazelnut latte with oatmilk and its delicious. The coffee was way too hot though, burnt my tounge after my 20 minute drive. The cafe was adorable and clean, with comfortable vibes.

Nice to see a place this great open up in my hometown, I have been here 3 times this week since I’ve discovered it. The staff is very nice and they have new whipped cream flavors everyday that you can self serve. Highly recommend the coconut caramel iced latte. The prices are pretty good in comparison to coffee shops in central Connecticut and even Dunkin / Starbucks.

Not much to offer for food options. Workers don’t look like they want to be there. Coffee is average.

When you’ve purchased yourself a new guitar, take some lessons with Skip Newmann! Skip is an incredible instructor, and the one on one learning is sure to advance your skills. My 11 year old started taking lessons about five months ago, and has built a strong set list. He’s learning techniques with picking and strumming; he’s working on tapping and bending; he knows some chords, and Skip introduced him to guitar tab; best of all, he’s having fun. Skip doesn’t teach solely by a book, so you can learn to play that song you’re dreaming of. My son’s rocking out to AC/DC! You’d be hard pressed to make a better investment.

Gibson’s has a large selection of acoustic and electric guitars. There’s always something new! They also have banjos and ukuleles, along with a selection of other used instruments at competitive prices. Feel free to pick up an instrument you’re interested in – they’re all properly set and tuned. If you need accessories, they have them. Stop by and browse the solid selection of used vinyl records. The owners are professional, kind and extremely helpful.

This is a mixed business. I drove someone here to grab some collectables. I Frequently shop this place and it’s a good little store.

Inconvenient hours of operation. Ended up buying a used guitar elsewhere. Otherwise my phone call was promptly returned and the woman I spoke with was very kind and friendly.

Today was my first time at Games Exchange and it was a great experience. Taylor was super helpful and nice. They price-matched an online GameStop ad and got us a great deal on the DVDs and games we brought in to trade. I’ll definitely be doing business there again.

Definitely the go to place to find older video games that GameStop doesn’t handle any longer, and typically prices here are competitive to those at GameStop as well. If you have older games and consoles to hand in, I’d recommend you head here BEFORE GameStop, typically these guys will offer you a much better deal. But please, beware – check the value of selling your items online on sites like eBay before handing them in here. GameXChange is still a retail store that needs to make a profit on what you hand in – so they will still likely pay you less than eBay could offer you. Shop smart!

Dont buy anything from these guys, it wont work. Have purchased several used games from them. 99% of the time, the discs wont read. Bring them back and be lied to. “Oh, were sorry. Here’s a cleaned disc. Should work great now” Lies!!! Game disc isnt even the one i came in to replace. Or new disc looks like its been thru a wood chipper. Save your money and go to a GameStop, cuz this knockoff version is utterly clueless

Changed policies so you can only trade in TEN dvds a day… Literally not even worth the gas. The guy wouldn’t even let me do 10 and my friend do their own 10. Said it was “by group.” Never going here again. Horrible customer service and nothing anywhere tells you about their policy change until you’re there talking to them. Awful awful awful. Also tried to pay me less for my PS4 than their own sign in their store stated. Had to point it out to get my full trades worth! Seriously – don’t go here.

CK Drum Shop is the best. I am in my mid 60s, and decided to learn drumming ‘late’ in life. I was anxious about finding the right instructor, but found exactly what I was looking for in the CK Drumshop owner. Chris is patient, highly knowledgeable, and is able to communicate complex musical ideas in theory and function, in an informative, non threatening and enjoyable environment. Highly recommended!

CK’s drum shop is a great shop for drum and percussion gear, quality repairs, and lessons. As a percussionist and music teacher in the area, I would highly recommend this shop to anybody looking for quality instruments, mallets, sticks, books, hardware, and accessories. The prices are fair and the inventory is solid. As well, Chris is very professional with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of percussion. The repair work that he does with his staff is second-to-none. Overall, this is a gem of a shop and definitely worth checking out for your drum and percussion needs.

Chris is the best! Super nice guy and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about anything when it comes to drums. He has helped me with multiple repairs with different drum hardware and the results are always perfect. Anything you need fixed or tuned correctly he’s got all the tools and parts you need. Always a great time coming into the shop!

Enter at your own risk! Maybe the owner, Chris was having a bad day. But, I went there to by a bass drum hoop and I guess I asked one too many questions. He became visibly irritated, slammed down the claw hooks he had in his hands and said he didn’t know what to tell me with a major attitude. I calmly handed him back the bass drum hoop I was going to buy and got out of there. Scary dude! The place itself was tiny with no real inventory. Needless to say I’ll never go back.

I know good coffee and espresso drinks and this place knows how to make them Perfecto. Go try this place, and see how you like it. No Starbucks burned tasting beans here they roast
the beans right here in the shop for freshness and terrific flavor.

Had an affogato, hot chocolate, and a chocolate chip cookie for $10.55. Everything was great. They roast the coffee right in the store.

Went there the other day for a quick iced coffee and a snack. Enjoyed the cold brew although I’d say it was a little too watered down. The baked goods were delicious and the environment was very welcoming. I enjoyed the nautical rustic feel. I was very impressed with this small gem in downtown and think it’s a great asset to the city. I’m looking forward to trying more coffee as well as the teas and handcrafted sodas!

It’s brings a hip upscale feel to rundown downtown Norwich. A very cool and well used small space. The coffee roaster out on the public floor is very impressive. My biggest issue was they didn’t offer french press coffee, though they did offer me a pour over. I found the coffee very underwhelming and I thought watery. I would be willing to give them a second shot because I think they could have something here, but they have to step up there coffee bean game.

They had plenty of instruments, books, and other things to browse through. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be returning for musical purchases I need to make in the future.

If you want to take piano lessons you can go wrong by going here. The instructor is talented and is focused on music education not just memorization. We love it!

Please promote cheyenne!!!! I called the store and the customer service she provided me was something you don’t see everyday. Cheyenne even gift wrapped my sons new drum just so he could have it as a great surprise for Christmas. Do whatever you can to keep her around she is worth it.

Music instructors are the best.

Be careful about their rental program. They will tell you that you can use the rental music towards an instrument, but the policy on this is excessively restrictive and limited to very few off-brands. Basically, the rental credit is worthless. If you want rentals, they are OK for that, but it is more or less money out the window. We kept an instrument for much longer than we otherwise would have after knowing that our child was going to stick with it with the plans on trading up. After accruing over $800 in credit, they said we could use it towards 2 different no-name brands or $200 of it towards a name brand instrument (which we ended up buying elsewhere for much less than that). You may be better served to rent briefly and return if your kid sticks with it after their 4 month promotion period, or pick a more local place and feel better about your money staying with local musicians and retailers.

Buyer beware!! They charge you for lessons in advance! Staff up front can be RUDE! They give you give you misinformation and it costs you!

I rented an instrument for my son there over a month ago. The instrument was supposed to be delivered directly to the school but never arrived. Over the coarse of 2 weeks I called 3 separate times to inquire when the instrument would be delivered and was told “I don’t know, we will call you back” every time. We never received a call back. When I called today, the woman told me that they ran out of the instrument I ordered and they have no idea when/if they will get more in. They didn’t call or email me to let me know the instrument was back ordered and THEY STILL CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS for the rental that they didn’t/couldn’t fill. Their customer service and transparency needs alot of work.

So this is a current review, about a month ago I went into the New London location and had a bad experience. I work in customer service and I’m all about 2nd chances, I went in to buy a new acoustic guitar dealt with the same individual, Reed… And had a phenomenal experience this time, his customer service was awesome, he was very helpful and everything was just as I was expecting. Reed, definitely encouraged me to return to guitar center new london ct, for all my future purchases!!! Thanks again Reed!!!

I never write reviews. I don’t consider it worth my time. Except today.

Today I had a problem with my podcast set-up and went to this Guitar Center for troubleshooting help. I walk in and head towards the main register and wait around. I’m eventually noticed and a guy from the lessons area asks what I need. He then yells at another kid to help me out.

This kid is really nice and helps get my rig set up to figure out the issue, but then the first guy (a manager) walks up and very brusquely tells me that he can’t have his guy helping me out when there are other customers around. Like I’m not a customer, right? Like I haven’t spent thousands of dollars at Guitar Center in my lifetime, right? Okay, cool. Probably a stressful time, only two people running the store, I get it.

Manager guy leaves and the kid is helping me out, grabbing me microphones and stuff to try; later the kid is called away and the manager guy shows up again, asking me what the issue is.

I try to explain it to him, that my mixer has 4 XLR inputs and one split TRS input; I want to connect a dynamic microphone to the split TRS input and, having done a little research myself, came up with a solution that includes a phantom power unit and in-line booster to help reach proper levels. My problem is that the recording doesn’t come in as stereo. I’m at a loss, I need help.

“Just buy a mixer with five XLR inputs,” he tells me.

I don’t even know what to say. I had to pause for a second because I honestly didn’t know how to respond to such a insulting answer.

“Don’t you think I’ve thought of that already,” I asked him, annoyed at this point.

He picks up on my attitude and then says, “Alright boss, pack your bags,” essentially kicking me out of the store.

How is this not insulting? I understand that troubleshooting isn’t part of your job description, but isn’t helping customers supposed to be a thing? Are you truly that empty of cares to give?

Anyway, it was always very convenient to have a Guitar Center so close to where I live; after today, I think ordering my things online might be more convenient.

This place sucks

The people here are friendly, knowledgeable, supportive and very helpful. I have been taking bass guitar lessons here and am absolutely amazed with my progress. Besides the one-on-one lessons, I also enjoy their group sessions where we get to learn and practice songs together. I also bought a couple instruments, strings, amplifier and some accessories from them at great prices. If you want to take lessons on any musical instrument, or want to rent or buy any musical instrument, I highly recommend the Music Bureau, conveniently located at Salem Four Corners.

Personal and attentive, knowledgeable and professional. You’re not getting treated like a faceless wallet in a warehouse shop here!

Got set ups + fret work done for my guitars and couldn’t be happier — quick turn around and really great work done! Highly recommend supporting Spindrift!

After looking around to find a good luthier to set up a bass I had purchased I was recommended to reach out to Corey at spindrift guitars. We communicated over the phone to figure out what I needed and set up a time for me to swing by. When I got there Corey took the time to look over the bass and let me know what it needed and that he would be able to take care of it. Corey set up my bass really well and I can’t recommend his services enough. The atmosphere was comforting and inviting and everyone who was there was very nice. Got to talk pedals for a bit and geek out over some of the stuff they had there. I 100% recommend Spindrift Guitars as well as luthier services from Corey. It’s was overall an excellent experience and I will definitely be going back!

I brought in vintage Gibson Les Paul custom for a Re fret and they completely ruined it there was surface scratches ,chips in the fret board the frets were un even and buzzed. After 4 attempts bringing the guitar back to the store with the problems only half way fixed every time or even new problems I just cut my loses and brought my guitar to a real professional if you want it done right I do not recommend bringing your guitar here for major repairs

Customer focused attitude – came in with two young kids and I think I was more nervous than they were. Jack let me try a bunch of bows while he talked to my kids with respect and genuine interest. Left the shop with a new bow and much appreciation for the Upton family.

From the contact I’ve had with Upton Bass associates, it’s abundantly clear from their accessibility that they place primary importance on the well-being of not only their established but potential customers.

I purchased a ply bass that had issues out the door. The geometries where all wrong (e.g., the neck was too thin and was not pitched to the back of the bass) and it had a buzz coming from the fingerboard and bridge setup. They were unable to resolve the buzzing sound and I took it it to a local luthier to have the problem resolved. I ended up donating the bass our school district and purchasing a Shen.
Also do not purchase bows from Upton. I purchased a $2000+ bow made by J.R. Silva, Brazil, which developed a splinter just above the frog within 6 months and Upton would not warrant the bow. I now have a $2000+ paperweight.

Update, 10/28/2023:
… as to your reply, yes, I initially thought this was a great bass until I started using it for rehearsals and the buzzing appeared. I thought it was something I was doing or even due to the new bow. I drove 4 hours one way to your location to have your staff address the buzzing issue and they shaved a high spot on the fingerboard near first position and the buzzing did not appear while I was there. When I returned home and started using the bass again for rehearsals the buzzing reappeared. I wasn’t about to drive an other 8 hours to give your staff a second chance at addressing this. Instead, I took it to a local luthier who fixed the buzzing through a combination of reshaping both the fingerboard and bridge (the bridge was set up for jazz, even though I had told your staff that I play mostly orchestral music). While working on my bass, the luthier pointed out the other issues that I mentioned in my review. I am not a luthier, so I would not have necessarily recognized these issues except that through pro-longed use I might have developed muscular issues.

It also wasn’t until your staff responded last week that they could not help me with the issues with my bow that I decided to post this. I don’t like to post negative comments, but I wanted to warn other potential customers of my experience. Your staff could not even help with how I might get in touch with Mr. Silva. If you sell someone’s product, I would think you would have some form of contact information. I spent a lot of money on this bow ($2000+) and NO I DID NOT CAUSE THIS SPLINTER TO APPEAR. I do not appreciate you implying so by your comment. Had your staff handled things differently, I would not have posted this review.

You, as an owner, could have handled this differently as well. You *could* have contacted me by phone about this, instead of responding to my review in the manner that you did, and I might have considered removing this review. You could have even contacted me directly before I posted this review, as several days had lapsed between my speaking with your staff and my posting this review. No fuel, the docks are run down. There are no nearby restaurants unless you want to cross five lanes of traffic.

As a seasonal boater here for 6 years, it’s unfortunate that this beautiful marina has been neglected due to new owners. We decided to leave as of end of 2019 season and will be staying in Mystic for the 2020 season. We hope that the owners can eventually negotiate the sale of this property and let someone with a passion for boating and all things water take over and bring American Wharf back to the prestine marina it once was.
2023- American wharf continues to decline. Still no buyer. Many seasonal boaters left this year because they raised the fee but put nothing into the upkeep of docks or grounds. Driving by breaks our heart because we know what it once was.

This establishment is subpar to say the least. The food was cold when it arrived, the wait was entirely too long and the service was awful.

They are both really nice people. We have purchased instruments, books and other items for my kids music classes andboth owners have been very helpful. I needed to get computer microphones needed in order to submit homework online and I went with the idea of purchasing 2. They could have taken advantage of that and wouldn’t have been the wiser but instead, he convinced me that I only needed one. The instruments that we got from them have worked beautifully and we’ve had them for over a year now. My kids have been going there every week for music lessons and they are always very welcoming. There is no other music store for us but Stewart’s.

Terrible customer service. Took my flute to get repaired and instead of just simply fixing what needed to be done to it I was told I shouldn’t have bought an off brand flute. This was all I could afford at the time (as a teenager). I am looking to invest in a new one but honestly it is no ones job to criticize the instrument I have. I waited for the repair to be done and called 3 different times on it. The repair person got sick which is understandable. When I called the last time they said it was finished and I asked why they never called me to let me know they said that I said I was going to come in regardless. Which is true. But still does not explain why no one called me. Overall a bad experience. Was treated very poorly and will not be going there again.

Absolutely awful owners were nasty and they charged way too much for a simple repair just go to music and arts its easier and cheaper

My boyfriend’s daughter, grandson and son in law were in town from NH to celebrate her birthday and pregnancy announcement and because it was St Paddy’s Day weekend they wanted to go to an Irish Pub. On Saturday we called and made 5 PM reservations and arrived on-time. The restaurant was fairly empty, so we were seated and ordered within 5 minutes. After we ordered the place began to fill up. We then waited 1 hr and 10 minutes for 5 meals to be delivered and did not even see our waiter for 40 minutes of that time. We had ordered Corned beef & cabbage, a fish entre, a hamburger (no cheese) for the 6 year old, buffalo chicken mac and cheese and one meal I can’t recall. We finally had to ask a waitress at the 50 minute mark to see if she could locate the waiter or the meal. She told our waiter we were looking for an update and he instead went to the table beside us (who arrived 15 minutes after us) to explain where the late meal was. He then came out with luke warm meals (which may have been waiting for a while for him to deliver them), and the wrong meal for the 6 year old. The food WOULD have been good if was hot. We were offered basically a shoulder shrug and limp apology for the late meal and not given any compensation at all. I am so embarrassed that we took them there and it turned out to be such a customer service nightmare… I had heard other horror stories from my family about service and should have listened! Incidentally the table beside us told us their meal was very late too.

We waited 45 mins for the food and when it came out both our orders were horrible. Not only was there a ton of salt seasoning on it, my burger was a tiny hockey puck. Way to over priced for the low quality of food that we received. But the waitress was very sweet. A+ for the waitress.

Just went in for a corona on my way home from work. It was a friday night 12:45 .there wasnt very many people maybe 6 . The lime that came with my drink was shriveled had something on it . I asked and recieved another beer without lime . The beer was cold . But i probably wont go back. Other bars in the area are cheeper and have fresh limes 🙂

What a beautiful experience start to finish. Call ahead for appointment cause they keep odd hours, but once you get one you wont be dissapointed. They treated me like i was buying a 20,000 dollar piano even though i spent a fraction of that on an electric one. Totally class operation here.

Excellent experience! Mr. Caruso treated us with exceptional care and went over and above with arranging for shipping! Absolutely love the Steinway B we purchased. Looking for another grand piano for a church near us that was hit by a tornado… Caruso’s is at the top of the list for my piano search.

Never bought a piano long distance before. Couldnt be happier.

UPDATE October 5 2018: Richard Caruso promptly called me the day after I posted the review below. He apologized again, and very willingly reimbursed me for my travel expenses. I feel this was the ethical and right thing to do, and am glad that he made things right with me.

Original review: I flew in from Chicago to try out a Steinway B I had on deposit. The staff knew of my travel plans, and were very hospitable and welcoming. The piano, however, was noticeably out of tune on my arrival. While more accomplished pianists might not have seen that as an issue, it completely stopped me from getting excited about the piano. No sale for them, no new Steinway for me.
They were apologetic and realized their mistake when I pointed this out, but were unable to get the piano tuned while I was there.
This is a shop with perhaps good intentions, but they completely dropped the ball in this instance. I’m writing this review because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.

I went to their store and also called them multiple times showing interest in one of their pianos. Despite the fact I showed interest and called/messaged multiple times on a piano, that piano was sold to an online buyer. There was no follow-up or a courtesy call to let me know that the product I was eyeing was gone or was about to be sold.

Nevertheless, I think that they have a good variety and a great knowledge base on pianos. I wish they were a little bit more responsive and courteous as buying a piano is a big purchase and takes time and thought.

EDIT: After my initial review, Caruso Piano contacted me and let me know that they have not reached out to me due to not getting a piano that was comparable to what I was looking for. Which is understandable. I truly appreciate them reaching out to me. I have to write that I learned a whole lot about piano buying from them when I first went to their store. I wish them good luck and hope they continue to be successful as a local business.

I purchased a used U1 3 years ago from Carusos.

Please be aware: these are GREY MARKET pianos. They were originally built and sold in the Asian market. You will have proof when you remove the knee board and see the holder for the lease agreement. And due to that fact, the wood of the pianos is dried to standards for Asia. Not the U.S. or Northeast U.S.

I do like the piano, BUT I and my piano technician are having a heck of a time keeping the damper pedal from squeaking BADLY.

I had the piano saver system installed almost immediately. It has helped the piano hold tune very well.

But because this instrument was not built to the specifications of an American instrument (or North America) it is expanding very badly from the humidity.

I have a dehumidifier in the room with the piano, no heat or doors or windows near it. And I have my technition here AGAIN trying to shave down the knee board to try and eliminate this terrible groan/squeek.

My opinion? Buy a piano through a local piano tuner/technition or through a referral from a tuner tech. If you are going to purchase one of these grey market instruments bring your tuner with you. Pay them for their time and have them tune the instrument you choose BEFORE you give Carusos your money.

Great place to buy vinyl more than fair on prices. Just all around great owner loves his music . My only recommendation is do not talk baseball with danny lol. Parking in back lot he will validate parking for you take first left after shop if heading south on rt.1 then 75 feet on left is parking lot if none out front. Make the trip you wont be sorry.

One morning my wife and I were walking around Mystic on our day off. We happened to stumble upon Mystic Disc which we have never been before. Being a huge Pink Floyd fan, we were searching for that selection. We actually found 6 records that I do not own. I was in such a great mood, finding these felt like I struck gold. Well Dan just opened the shop and we were the first customers in the store. So jokingly I walked up to the counter and said “Any discounts for a first time customer buying more than 5 records?” Clearly it was a joke as I was laughing and chuckling. Dan started getting defensive saying that he had a customer the other day that spent $239 (roughly) and another that spent a $100 and something. Then Dan gets very standoffish and begins a lecture explaining that if I ask for a discount and he says no, then I would think he’s an ***hole, but if he gives me a discount and there are other customers in the store, and they heard he gave me a discount, they would expect a discount as well. I then again told him that I was kidding and we don’t need a discount however, he made it apparent that he was going to because I asked. Dan made the experience for both my wife and I very uncomfortable. He also insinuated that we did not work in retail to understand his justification (there is around 25 years between my wife and I). First off, I would have to know someone well enough to know if they are worthy of the title ***hole. I don’t appreciate Dan making that kind of an assumption, being that he doesn’t know me. I also don’t appreciate that Dan pointed out other customers who have spent more money than what we were going to purchase. That made us feel belittled and not appreciated as a customer. This is not the customer experience I would provide to my customers and we most certainly don’t need to be taught the etiquette of being a customer. Unfortunately we will no longer return to Mystic Disc. We have other record stores that we can shop at that has a kinder atmosphere. It’s too bad it took this one/first experience to shop elsewhere.

I can’t actually give a star cause the shop wasn’t open. It was supposed to be open but they didn’t ( maybe something happened I don’t know)and neighbors say he comes in when he chooses . So I went to the telegraph in new london.

Place opens at 11am, yet owner is barely ever there on time. Waited out in the cold and in nearby shops for around 30 minutes for nothing. Heard from locals that this happens a lot.

Throughout the years I have purchased guitars,and Equitment,. We miss Leo. He was the music teacher at Lewis S Mills High School in the 70’s. To ?. I graduated in 72. Great music shop. Get just about anything musical.

Keith was very open and helpful during his purchase of my son’s used drum set. He explained everything clearly and followed through on his statements. Courteous and respectful throughout, he helped make the transaction pleasant. I would definitely return to his shop.

They were very friendly and had great prices. This will be my regular music shop from now on!
