I stopped in to get my guitar checked out and Mike’s customer service was awesome. He treated me like an old friend even though we just met. He knows guitars, and how to set-up and repair them. He’s honest and charges fair prices. I take all of my guitars to Mike and I’m glad I found his shop. I also love stopping in and looking at the awesome ROCK memorabilia Mike has.
Best place in the Chicagoland area for guitar repairs. Prices are very reasonable and staff are true professionals. Very highly recommended
DE best on da Southside… And everyside!!!!!!
Music teacher for guitar lessons very good.
This is a wonderful place. Mike is amazing and has so many instrument. New and used.
3. Brendel’s Piano Services
Address: 12340 Wolf Rd, Palos Park, IL 60464 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
This guy showed up on time, easy to work with. Did a great job tuning my piano.
I’ve used Mr. Brendel for piano tuning my upright and then two baby grand pianos for nearly 30 years. It’s easy to make an appointment, he’s always on time, efficient, an excellent tuner and easy to talk to and work with. Highly recommended.
Unbelievable quality and service. I’ve used Mr. Brendel for many years to tune and maintain our piano and he always does a phenomenal job.
4. Evolution Music
Address: 9024 W 159th St, Orland Park, IL 60462 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
I took my bass gutiar in to have it set up.I got it back the next day.Mitch did a very good job,it plays and sounds wonderful. I appreciate the quick turnaround and the high quality work.
My experience with Evolution Music is that they rock! Not only was my resonator guitar shipped quick and completely secure, they also added a gig bag and new strings. Wow! Ask for Mitch or Noah and they and their crew will take care of all your musical needs. I can’t say enough good things about my experience. 5+stars across the board! Thanks again Evolution Music i highly recommend you!
Mitch is always a great help, whether selling or buying instruments and parts. So much drum hardware to sift through. Highly recommend, you will always find something you can use
Bought a nice used snare for a reasonable price. I will be shopping here for great deal on used parts
Very shady business! Takes payment for item and does not ship it. They have a reputation of doing this to others. I had to open a dispute in order to force him to give me my money back. Would not recommend sending them any money as myself and others have been scammed by this person.
Asked to see a guitar and the manager couldn’t be bothered. I emailed the company to ask for help and got no response.
They claim to Promote your band but all they do is take your money. Only promotion is facebook and there are only bands liking there page. No local advertising in newspapers etc. that would take money from there pockets – beware of Evolution Music or at least look into them before you go.
5. Angelica Funeral Music
Address: 11751 SW Hwy, Palos Heights, IL 60463 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
I can’t say enough about what a great teacher Kevin is. My daughter has taken piano and guitar lessons from him for over 5 years. He is professional but laid back in a a way that makes students and parents comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone looking to take music lessons!
Kevin is one of the best instructor I have a music and I have tried a few he is one of the best to teach your detailed music for life. I would choose Keven
He teaches fundamentals that most teachers ignore in my experience.
His dedication is remarkable. Teaching ethics superb!
Great instructor. I had absolutely no experience with playing instruments and thought that I’d struggle as an adult trying to learn for the first time. Kevin is a very patient instructor and will teach at your pace. His prices are very reasonable in comparison to other places I’ve looked into.
I’ve known about this place for over 5 years now. I’ve only come in here a few times, since I never practiced guitar as much as I wanted to. Although every time I’ve stepped foot inside this store. The staff was NEVER anything but professional, friendly, and always willing to help. These men know what they are doing. I get my guitars serviced here because I trust their work. Remember that most people who have good experiences never leave a review. This is a great shop.
Beautiful place they have. Awseome people.
Another flawless purchase. The atmosphere at this shop is just amazing. Had to come in and grab one of the new esp ltd. Supporting local businesses that support law enforcement and military is amazing. This is a one stop shop for all your musical needs. Can’t wait to see what I end up buying from them next.
I love all the products but at times the service was bad, other visits there were good service. Thanks!
Short Version: Came in to try out guitars just like any normal, decent person would but ended up being treated like a careless kid
Every time I’ve visited Midlothian Music I’ve had wonderful experiences, but my last visit left me disappointed.
I came in to see how a few of their guitars compare to my guitar that I already own (which I brought in with me.) The associate I approached was very kind and asked a few questions to make sure he was grabbing exactly what I was looking for from the back. He brought a guitar out and tuned it for me.
I thanked him and asked him if I could have a guitar stand to place next the amp so that I could swap between my own and the one he brought me.
He told me he could just hold onto mine while I played the new one. I thought of that as being a strange solution, but I haven’t been to a lot of music shops and figured it was normal or something. I appreciated it.
I was a little bit uncomfortable with how he stood there the whole time watching me as I played (I was playing for a decent amount of time) but I just took it as him doing me a kindness, standing by in case I needed help. But then I realized he was watching me to make sure I didn’t scratch or damage the guitar.
I have a bag that I wear across my shoulder that sits at my waist, and he asked me if I could make sure that the zipper doesn’t scratch it. Which is understandable, I understand how guitar shops are about zippers. I look over at my hip and see that it’s a good distance away, nod and tell him “I gotcha.” afterwards I could still tell he was uneasy with how I was handling the guitar which I feel was very normally and with respect.
He then asks me “oh, could you make sure you don’t pick too hard?” which is a question I’ve never been asked in any guitar store I’ve visited. I didn’t really know what to say so I just looked at him and then he asked me to watch out for my zipper again. At this point my thoughts of “Oh, he’s standing by to help me” turned to thoughts of “Oh, he was watching me this whole time to make sure I don’t tear anything up”
At that point I (regretfully) respond sarcastically and ask “Would you like to just move my bag for me? Would you also like to pick the guitar for me as well?”
We begin to explain to each other where we were both coming from with our statements. In trying to get my point across that I’ve never been watched so closely or felt like I was made out to be such an untrustworthy individual nor watched the whole time in any other music shop I’ve visited, I became very frustrated and the tone of my voice took a similar turn.
A manager comes over and asks what’s going on. I apologize for my tone and as I attempt to explain what happened and how I felt I was treated, he interrupts me and explains to me the reason behind the employee’s actions. He then asks what he can do for me and how the guitar played.
As I tried to continue my explanation two more times, I was interrupted two more times and was told by the manager that the employee was just trying to stand by and give me good business which is rare these days and that he didn’t mean it that way.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe the employee had any malicious intent directed towards me at all, he apologized to me multiple times. It’s just that the following things left a bad taste in my mouth:
– He apologized to me which I really appreciate, but immediately afterwards he would go on to tell me why he treated me the way that he did, which was to ensure the guitar stays in good condition
– I understood that aspect of what he was saying, keeping the merchandise in perfect condition. I was just unhappy with the way he went about it
– When I tried to explain this to the manager, I felt like he wasn’t willing to see my side, especially with how I was interrupted midway twice while trying to explain my issue to both of them.
The owner of the shop spoke to me very rudely and insisted that I was trying to sell my instrument at “retail” price, even though I obviously researched beforehand… why would I try to sell a used instrument at retail price? He refused to give me his best offer or even look at my instrument. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Save your time
Never coming back I waited 40 minutes to play a bass which I never got to do so I just left
9. House of Music
Address: 14426 John Humphrey Dr, Orland Park, IL 60462 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
Alyssa is great at handling all of these situations despite having to take on 3 other people’s jobs. She handles herself well and is great with customer service. She’s explained to me the covid situation and the one employee who was positive had not been to work for over a month and had not worked there while positive. This employee was not allowed back to work until after the quarantining was over. They clean and disinfect the areas and equipment on a regular basis. Highly recommend House of Music.
I’m very happy with how much my daughter has grown as a pianist in the short time she’s been enrolled at HOM! I highly recommend them!
Staff’s kind n’ “mentorly” (that’s a word, right?). They mostly sell guitars, but I have seen a drum set, an accordion, and a few keyboards there too. Not very traditional in their approach to teaching instruments, they don’t really go over music theory. If you’re looking for a laid back approach to learning guitar, drums, etc, you’ve got a good chance here.
I stopped by this shop recently to inquire about music lessons for my 7 year old son. I was greeted by the owner who had his face mask dangling half off of his face. You would think that during a global pandemic the owner would take more care in making sure the students in his care are safe, this guy can’t even wear a mask correctly. Also, all the instruments they had for sale looked cheap.
Waste of time.
My son has been learning piano with them for almost a year. Their teachers are also unstable. The working teacher also has a bad attitude. It’s a very bad experience!
10. Lettuce Play
Address: 1300 Ravinia Pl, Orland Park, IL 60462 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
My son received piano and drum instruction from Mr. Bill. He was very patient with my then, 8 year old son and my son grew to love music because of it. My son is a talker and often would shift focus to things other than the instruction. Like a seasoned father and grandfather, Mr. Bill would engage in the conversation allowing my son to feel heard, then, gently nudge him back to the lesson.
Mr. Bill never made us feel like he didn’t have time or like we were on the clock. I know that he is running a business and has appointments at certain times, which he was always punctual to, but somehow he always made us feel like we were people and not just customers. I truly believe he cares about what he does and ensuring that clients have the best experience when they interact with him. My son (now 17 y/o) still plays the piano. We changed instructors because Lettuce Play was just too far from our house. But, I highly recommend Lettuce Play. And I wish Mr. Bill the best!
Bill is a great instructor with a well of knowledge. Patience but expects you to hold up your end as a student. Many years of experience and eager to share it
11. Palos Music Instruction
Address: 10604 S Roberts Rd, Palos Hills, IL 60465 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
Colin at Southside Guitar does such an incredible job teaching my boys guitar. It is amazing to watch anyone who can keep my kids focused for 30 minutes! He is a natural, and the boys are having fun too.
Great player good person very easy going. I’m a professional saxophone player. If I was learning guitar I would take lessons from him.
I’ve known him for a while and he has always been great with the guitar. Very knowledgeable, understanding and easy to work with.

Address: 8855 S Roberts Rd, Hickory Hills, IL 60457 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
The teachers here are great, they really know how to connect with my daughter, and teach her the best way she can understand. I definitely recommend this school
My son has been learning guitar remotely from Westgate Music School for half year, he loves it! And we can see his progress and he is really enjoying the class as well.
My son has learned so much in the past 3 months. His instructor Ian is great. Since day one they have all been so friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend this school.
15. A to Z Pawn & Resale
Address: 11234 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL 60465 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
Great place, good people. This place has a more exotic selection of items compared to your average pawn shop. Everywhere you look you see something more interesting than before. Also the two brothers who run the shop are good guys, easy to work with.
Pretty nice pawn shop with a wide range of interesting things available. The staff seemed knowledgeable and were really easy to work with. Worth checking out.
Great place and very very friendly staff, they’ll give you the best deals. I highly recommend this place.
Most pawn shops you haggle over price this one not so much
This place is a joke. The guy that helped me had an attitude and all I did was ask him a question. They also try to give you Peanuts for things you may want to get a loan for. EZ Pawn offered a lot more and the customer service was way better.
They have stuff that has been on the shelf for months and dont know if it works and no prices….nobody in here knows nothing…
Bad way of doin bissuness
16. Disc Replay
Address: 15014 South La Grange Road, Orland Park, IL 60462 , Palos Park , Illinois , United States
I loved how clean the store was and pretty well organized. The sectiond were well signed for clarity and the staff was friendly and quick.
This has to be the dopest store around. They specialize in old school items. Games, comic books, pops figures and a lot more. They also have a trade in program for games and such. The guys are cool and we had no issues getting what we were looking for.
Great selection of all things gaming and movies
My boys and I like the store a lot … Pretty cool toys in there I must say. My only wish would be that the workers were a bit more welcoming … Working in retail myself, I have an high expectation when it comes to making customers feel welcomed … Other than that, pretty decent place…
This location is pretty decent, just lacking in terms of variety. I prefer the one in Highland, IN. Still, the customer service here was great. They didn’t interact with me once and let me browse in peace
Some vinyls are overpriced.
Horrible customer service. Wasted my time for 2 hours if i could give this negative stars i would.
Went there to sell some comics, some funko pops, and I had a some pokemon, yugioh, and miscellaneous all bundles and separated. Well I got a offer for $85 for about 40 comics and miscellaneous etc. So one of the comics alone was worth that at least. Well I gladly declined and picked out things I’d be willing to part with…. I sold about 8 to 10 pieces for $73 cash….. one thing that I just noticed was that the bundle of holographic pokemon cards is missing and of course the yugioh cards are too. When selling please look over every single thing and ask for a print out of what they are offering you for your items. They need to make money but stealing people’s stuff should land you in jail like it would if I did it to you disc replay in Orland Illinois.
Really.. just one of the now three bad experiences I’ve had just this week. Besides employees laughing at me on the phone, Buying movies people didnt return to the library (basically knowing theyre stolen) you’ve got to be kidding me
