Always a pleasant experience. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff every time. Extensive supplies for every kind if instrument. Plus repairs and cleanings available. Our go to Music store.
All of my questions were answered
The counter employee was very patient and helpful with my granddaughter
Her saxophone was cleaned and returned in a timely manner
I had ordered a set of SPECIFIC AUDIO CABLES, FROM THIS STORE, Through “Amazon”, “ANDY’s” is a vendor through them. My Amazon order was short, because of amazon DIDN’T KNOW ONE ITEM WAS OUT OF STOCK. ANDY’s, INSTEAD OF NOT FULFILLING THE ORDER, SEPERATELY SENT NOT ONLY THE CABLES, BUT ALSO THE ADAPTERS IT WOULD HAVE COME AS, IF ORIGINAL ITEM ORDERED. HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY, TO PROVIDE ME WITH EXACTLY THE CONFIGURATION I NEEDED, SO AS NOT TO DISAPPOINT ME. AND INCLUDED A PERSONAL NOTE, EXPLAINING IT ! WOW !!! AWESOME CUSTOMER CARE !
Quick delivery!
Helpful and freindly
Great customer service.
My experience at Andy’s was horrible. I called and ask do they have any piano music for beginners and was told yes. The sales person was friendly over the phone but the minute I arrived her whole attitude changed. She didn’t want to help me. I walked around for about 15 minutes waiting to ask for help but the staff pretended to be busy even when no one was in the store. The minute a Caucasian person walked in, they were at their beck and call ready to help. I was so excited about buying music so I can practice my piano, but after being treated like dirt my attitude changed. I wish people would learn that know matter what color you are, one is know better than the other. Please stop believing that lie!
Good for guitar strings that’s about it
“Andy’s Music”, simply awful service and a rip off. I purchased an expensive guitar (Ibanez Fireman) from their Amazon store, what a mistake. Andy’s Music claimed the guitar which was refused and returned at the dispatch office was damage and opened. After dozens of emails, they tried to charge me $100 for shipping and claimed they didn’t want to go through the hassle of putting in a claim with UPS. (the shipping was supposedly “free”) and then charged me $26 for outgoing shipping and $26 for return shipping. They sent me one terrible photo of the guitar and 8 random pictures of broken boxes to try to imply damage from the dispatcher. Their carrier, UPS mistake cost me $52.00 and Andy’s Music would not refund the shipping. I’ll never purchase from Andy’s Music again and you should be wary as well. I have purchased THOUSANDS of dollars of musical equipment from Amazon, and never had an issue until now…Andy’s Music is a rip off…
3. Lisenby’s Music Shop
Address: 831 S Memorial Dr, Prattville, AL 36067 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Exceptional repair shop. Knowledgeable staff. Good inventory of guitars, keyboards, and band instruments. Good selection of brasswind mouthpieces. Highly recommend to my friends.
Lots of music! Great locally owned and operated
I am editing this review from 1 star to four due to the fact that I had to send my trumpet to the shop for the second time. Although extremely disappointed the first time, I must say I am very satisfied with the work done by Mr. Mike Rabig from the Montgomery store. Mike personally contacted me and after a short conversation, I decided to try a second time. My trumpet was returned to me exactly as I expected and was detailed in our conversation. I basically got back a “like new” instrument. Thank you Mike Rabig and the Dothan store manager Ms. Robin for taking care of my trumpet and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Pretty good people and alot of music stuff
Excellent Service…
My child has had his instrument on the repair shelf at scoggins middle school for 3 weeks (I even called arts) and no one has been there to repair instruments. We are charged extra for insurance through art when financing these instruments. So why are you people not going out and repairing them on Wednesday’s as promised? It’s just a lie to get more money out of the parents. I’d advise everyone to elsewhere and avoid this company if I were you .
I hate the fact that they take all your bank information Debit card checking account before they do a so called credit check. And then don’t get back in touch with you when they say and when you call them, o we sent you a letter on Saturday. But it’s ok. Paying over a thousand for a used instrument is not even worth it. So thanks for doing me the favor and not approving it.
Didn’t care for them
5. B&C Music
Address: 314C Billy B Dyar Blvd, Boaz, AL 35957 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Friendly local place and with high prices but a good selection and knowledgeable.
Nice folks
Good site
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
The people are not friendly, the merchandise is overpriced, some equipment is not even new (and it is damaged) although they don’t disclose that information, and getting around in a wheelchair is next to impossible. The lady at the register didn’t know anything about the equipment. It is definitely worth the drive to go somewhere else.
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
6. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 4647 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Friendly & knowledgeable but took longer than expected to get instrument serviced. I was told would be called the next day with estimate, & it was 3 days before I received the call. I told them I had to get instrument back by a specific date for a performance, he said “not a problem”, I was calling them to get it back 4 days before performance, & was able to pick it up the day before it. They kept it for a month, & I was never able to speak directly to guy doing service which was not cheap. Don’t be in a hurry when dealing with them!
Very helpful but the instruments are pretty expensive
Wonderful customer service
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT rent instruments from here. All they want is your $$$. I can’t begin to tell you what a nightmare it had been renting our child’s instrument from them this year for school. I wish I could give negative stars. The breaking point was last week when we returned the instrument but was charged another $90 for the month of June. ITS NOT JUNE yet!!!!!!
Schools have no business partnering with companies like this!
This place is a joke. I called and asked about a mellophone and was told that they had several from me to choose from. I get there and they had one that was new and one from the 70’s they tried sell me. I will stay with Bailey Brothers.
You should think about buying an instrument from another source, this place is a money pit, will find ways to charge you more than you should have to pay. They have in-house repair but will charge alot for any normal wear and tear, when you turn in a rental instrument after just 4 months rental. Ended up spending around $500. Should have bought an instrument elsewhere and would have owned it for that amount. Wish I had listened to my intuition. Lesson learned.
7. Emiron Music Inc. dba The Yellow Guitar
Address: 806 Bank St NE, Decatur, AL 35601 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
So glad this place is still here. They have always been so friendly and helpful. Great prices also. They were great to me when I was in band and just as great for my kids now! Please help support our local store instead of going online.
Very helpful
Great prices good people excellent equipment.
Good music store
I checked the website for the address, the website said currently open closes at 5:00 or whatever. I needed guitar strings so I decided to make the drive which is an hour each way. Get there, park and walked to the store. “Closed” !!! Sign said they are moving. Guess I learned to call in advance.
Staff are very helpful and prompt!
There’s one guy there (Chet ? Chester?) who is really nice. The older gentleman comes across like he’d rather be in his office or something rather than dealing with the public. Seems he can’t keep young and talented help either, which may also be a result of his extremely unapproachable personality. I agree with the other reviewer … Decatur needs another music store.
It’s music for crying out loud … the atmosphere does not lend itself to the encouragement of instrument try out. It always seems so cold and uninviting. Not to mention that the selection is poor. No used instruments either.
Rude did not want to wait on customer like it was bothering them
Exelente
8. Alabama Music
Address: 2450 Mall Rd, Florence, AL 35630 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
They were so nice got everything we needed and more.
Need to start selling cds
We love this location & staff!
Good people
It’s okay. Maybe a broader selection of guitars, but I understand sales and marketing.
Quality equipment large selection of strings Price is Right
Researched music stores that “buy” instruments. This store popped up among others. Called store. A woman answered. She was cold & rude. I inquired & she said No. Their competitor also confirmed that they buy instruments.
$35 for a flute cleaning kit? That says it all.
9. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 3030 Eastern Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36116 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Excellent service, Incredible caring employees….Go check these guys out!
Brandon is a wealth of knowledge. The customer service you get from him and the team at Art’s cannot be matched at the big box music stores.
Friendly staff.
Good place to buy musical instruments.
I went looking for a 6string bass guitar and was disappointed. They mostly had 4string basses and only two 5string basses… maybe 10 bass guitars all together. Wasn’t impressed with their inventory.
Very nice store but wasn’t able to find what I needed
I will never do any business with this place again I have had enough
This place sucks
10. Patterson’s Music & Jewelry
Address: 230 Gault Ave N, Fort Payne, AL 35967 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Convenient place to get great picks and selection of strings..very nice owners
Always awesome
Had my wedding band repaired after I broke it by accident, looks perfect! Can’t even tell it was once broke. Super friendly staff!! 10/10 would recommend!
Website gave all the info I was looking for before I plan on go to the store
Nice folks that always helpful.
11. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Best guitar store in Alabama! Took my Les Paul in for a pickup swap and they fixed three other problems with it and didn’t even charge me for it! I was so impressed that I bought an amp the same day! Thanks guys!
Bailey Brothers is one very well-staffed and well-stocked retail music store. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. From beginner to professional instruments of the highest quality, they have perhaps the most thoughtful selection in Birmingham. Also for many years they are who I have chosen to service my guitars.
Awesome store, very large diverse selection of fine acoustic and electric guitars. Many other fine instruments. I was just there for the guitars. The sales people here are very helpful and nice!
It was my first time in the store and I had an excellent experience. David was very helpful and friendly as well as the other staff present. The online site lacks a lot of the guitars they have in stock because they get new guitars a lot so I would advise actually going into the store to see their wide selection.
good staff well organize not bad products
Great customer service. Great selection. However, I was NOT thrilled to see their logo custom printed onto the snare head I bought. Would have received 5 stars if not for that. Going to remove it with some acetone.
I explained to them thoroughly what I needed and they sold me the opposite! It all about sells and f**k the customers needs! Stay away from the southside location!
Dishonest, and disrespectful. While I’m aware they have an “all sales final” on used gear policy, it is their responsibility to properly inspect the gear they take in and not sell something that is damaged internally (in my case, a guitar amp). Idiot salesman also had a smug grin on his face the whole time my brother and I were having to deal with it (all 5-6 hours) and was making snooty comments back and forth. In a nut shell they sold me a dead amp and then laughed in my face about it. If this is how your business treats customers, don’t expect to be a business for long. I attempted a purchase with Bailey Brothers about 8 years ago. Was not a pleasant experience. This one wasn’t either. Rest assured, that’s it. I will not be back.
Update: Hey the owner called me just to prove they really do not care about customers. Tried to minimize what happened, and basically acted exactly like Keith did. Also a robotic “I apologize but we’re not going to do anything to fix it” does not count as rectifying anything. Gee wonder why the Southside store closed! Oh yeah and if you have a bad experience with them and they don’t own up to it they’ll do like any typical teenager does and tries to badmouth you on Facebook, then stalk your page. Very mature. Screenshots are great though aren’t they?
PS: Oh and buddy, if I were mad and desperate to pay my rent, then why in the heck did I buy a $700 amp from you? Nice try.
I would use profane language, but it would not adequately describe the crap this company pulled. Basically, I took my brother to trade a PRISTINE first-owner amp, and we could prove it, in for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, used, which is of equal value….and my brother coughed up $100.
I took off work to take him to initially buy the thing. I took off work to bring it in for repair when we discovered sticky crap on the power tubes, and I ended up working until 10PM thanks to these guys. They wanted me to take off work again, after having spent 5 hours in their store. I basically spoke up and said, he might be the customer, but I’m the wheelman, and I’m furious. I mentioned the fact of the wasted gas, wasted trips, and the at least 6 hours of driving they were expecting of me.
They checked OUR amp out very thoroughly, and even treated my brother like a criminal, saying they are getting his DL in case he stole it. SERIOUSLY people….
I tried to talk some business sense with them, asking them to do something for the trouble, and it would not have taken much. They said no. Then I asked if they can just reverse everything since ALL of the stuff was still in the store…. The guy made up a story of a law, which actually doesn’t exist, then claiming he has to charge extra to reverse it all. Guitar Center evidently doesn’t know about this (fake) law.
Not ONLY that, but the smug, d-bag attitude that the guy gave me when pushing my brother, his CUSTOMER aside to say “you don’t think we’re trying to rip you off do you?” He did this to put me on the spot, and tried to make me look like the bad guy.
In the end, my brother spent another $170 to get a new model. In the end, he got what he wanted, but we are both appalled by how the guy behaved to our faces. Beware, their used gear has NO warranty, but they represented at sale that they would ensure the gear works if something went wrong like the day we get it… Well… it did.
You don’t take someone’s $700 amp + $100 and then give them junk, and not try to do something proper after dragging someone thru hell. That’s the bottom line. I tried more than the guy at this store. You won’t catch us in that place again.
Considering the tens of thousands that my brother spent with other companies, Bailey Brothers missed an opportunity… Not good business. Dishonest, rude, and outright condescending. Smiled at us when we expressed our frustration with the runaround….
12. Mikes Music
Address: 2922 Ross Clark Cir, Dothan, AL 36301 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
I’ve been at this shop more than once now. The gentleman in there are great. Really friendly and helpful. Really take the time out to answer questions and take care of whatever you need. Decent prices. Relaxed environment. Will be our family’s go- to shop for music stuff.
Great selection of instruments, knowledgeable, and great service when needed.
Bought my daughter a saxaphone here. Great prices and much better quality than the cheap instruments on Amazon.
Mr Mike was such a pleasure to work with. I came in looking for a pick Gaurd for my acoustic and left with that, three stands, and a slider! His store has such a wide variety of amazing products.
Great customer service and selection. We highly recommend Mike’s music. We have purchased several items and will be returning.
Will never shop there again. He doesn’t stand behind his product. Brought a brand new keyboard from him and didn’t even have it for 2 months. All of the A#’s/Bb’s went out and he wouldn’t even take a look at it or even offer anything to help fix his shady product. Thought I found a place to get good quality instruments at a reasonable price but definitely was wrong. Now I have to spend more money on a new keyboard. I will never shop at Mike’s Music ever again.
Came back for a second time hoping that it was better than a previous visit which occurred maybe a year ago. Nothing changed! Had a sarcastic attitude and told jokes. This guy has poor customer service. I wouldn’t dare step foot in there again after today.
13. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 231 E Jefferson St, Montgomery, AL 36104 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
Top notch knowledgeable staff, super selection from down home locals. You never know who you might run into here (Joe Bonamassa) outstanding service department. A +++++
Excellent service
Awesome service. Very helpful. Great guys. I will visit again and recommend to others.
The manager was very helpful & the prices were very reasonable on what we were looking for!
Lots of instruments. Knowledgeable staff who are willing to help. Try here before you go to guitar center. Be warned seems like some of their prices are kind of high.
Told the repair guy I was on my way. When I got there he had left. I was going to wait until the two employees I talked to just laughed instead of apologizing. I went to Lisenby’s in Prattville and they took care of everything.
I have supported Bailey Bros. since I was a kid, but it’s time for the Montgomery store to be put out of its misery.
I usually try and call in before I go into the store and these guys usually sound like they don’t really have time for that. Quick to get off the phone, I ask a question and they respond with one word and are very blunt and just overall just seem to be uninterested in what you as the customer wants unless you’re trying to buy.
14. The Fret Shop
Address: 309 Jordan Ln NW, Huntsville, AL 35805 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
I come here all the time. They have been awesome to me and always courteous about letting me have my space while I browse. Bought a few pedals and basic needs (strings, picks). Only ever had issue with one of the young guys not letting me demo a pedal and then not wanting to sale it to me cause “I was saving it for this Tom Petty cover band”. But outside of that one interaction it’s been great. The more senior’d crew is a great help. Selection is pretty good. “I come for the Eastman’s”.
Great store, bought a Taylor 810E there. Great staff service and owner. If you get a chance it is worth the trip to go there. I traveled from S Louis, Mo area. I will defiantly go back.
Awesome
Wide variety of stringed instruments. Helpful but not pushy staff. Only saw one acoustic\electric bass. Good deals to be found from a local business but do your research.
This place don’t let you rock the hell out like I do so I feel unwelcome and very bored! Just let people rock out
So if you are reading these I bet you see the polarity of the reviews. People seem to love it or hate it. The difference is who you deal with there. I’ve always seen 3 guys and one young lady. There is a big guy with a goatee who isn’t friendly at all and you can tell he gets annoyed if you play with an instrument. Then there is a pretty generic looking guy that does most of the repair work. He is the embodiment of the a*hole guitar shop/ comic book store type guy. You’re beneath him and he makes sure you know it. If you can get past these two the young lady is very nice, and I’ve seen her make women more comfortable in what is usually a very male atmosphere. She also seems to know most of the store’s products equally so if you are looking for a dulcimer ask her. The last guy is the only reason I still shop there. Tall, skinny dude with a Rock a Billy haorcut. Hands down one of the nicest people I have ever met in a store. He could not care less if you came in there without a dollar to your name or a single chord to play. He loves music and wants to spread that around. If anyone there had the skill to warrant being haughty it would be him, but he is the last one there to do anything other than brighten your day. I take friends in there who have social anxiety etc. or are just nervous because they don’t play and he puts them right at ease. I would love to write this place off, but one great employee can make a difference. He doesn’t even know the difference he has made with some of my Army buddies that can barely handle being out of the house, but thanks to him there is one place they can go feel like a regular guy perusing a store. When my son is old enough he is who I want him to take lessons from. Truthfully he deserves a better place to work at.
$10 for a used box. I could understand that but saying you can’t spare 50 cents of bubble wrap because you ship too much? Sad. Next time I’ll go to the big box who said they’ll give me a box for free.
Terrible customer service. We bought a $400 guitar here and was told we would get a free alignment. We came back a few days later to get it and the man that we talked to very unhelpful and rude. We will not be recommending this place to anyone. We are very surprised by this behavior considering our contribution to their business during these tough times. Disappointed.
I have never been in this shop without being made to feel like a second class citizen. Bought a defective Taylor here, the first three frets were lower than the rest. When I asked about the warranty I was told they weren’t qualified to make that repair. When pushed on the matter their final answer was, didn’t you play it before you bought it? If you’re in the right clique this might be a great store, if not, Buyer Beware!
15. The Yellow Guitar

FRIENDLY PEOPLE,BEST SERVICE,KNOWLEDGEABLE, BEST PRICE.EXCELLENT.
The new owners are passionate about guitar and music, and they strive to offer a unique experience in their store!
Great to see the iconic Emiron Music continue for the new generation of music people! If you want to talk to gentle people about music, guitars and all that implies, walk in to the Yellow Guitar. Very knowledgeable and their shop looks bigger inside than outside. Lots of gear.
16. Fairhope Music
Address: 247 S Greeno Rd, Fairhope, AL 36532 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
I have done business with Herb Trotman at Fretted Instruments. Herb is an honest man and is straight up like 6:00 o’clock. If he tells you it’s raining, grab your umbrella.
I had my most valued guitar in his hands. I have no regrets. Good service, fair deals… That’s hard to beat.
Amazing!!
The unassuming, cozy, welcoming character of this place is great. I wandered into this store after driving by it for more than a year. I was so glad that I did. The selection, despite the small space within, was pretty astounding. This is a location for finding fine, high-quality instruments. An excellent selection of all varieties and series of Martins, Taylors, Collings, Eastmans, and others. I was pleasantly surprised to see all of the “national top sales/ top dealer” awards given to Fretted Instruments by Taylor and Martin. Wow! Anyways, I left with a great new 500 series Taylor and a fantastic new 200 series for my nephew. The staff was quite helpful, it was a great experience, and I will be returning.
