Rocky ‘n’ Roll Music is a great little local music store with all the essentials for any rock and roll musician. I am super stoked to have a music store in our small town of Woodland park!
This place ROCKS!!! Wonderful people and a great drum instructor, Hector!!! Thank you
I had an old guitar that I needed a string for. Hector was personable and quick to help me. He took my guitar and changed ALL the strings for me, and then ALSO fixed the bridge at no extra cost.. What a guy. It’s nice to have a family run business in woodland park with personable and knowledgeable people running it.
I had a horrible experience at this store. The lady at the counter found 2 seconds to get off her phone to say hello and then proceeded to stay on her phone the remainder of the time I was in the store and ignored me as I greeted her and asked her how her day was going. The store had very little to look at but I did happen to find a guitar pedal that I’ve been searching for a while. When I asked if I could test it she seemed annoyed I made her take time away from her phone and she then asked in a rude tone am I going to buy one. I was confused at her tone and replied yes. She then proceeded to put on a fake smile but the damage was done. When she asked which one I told her I was no longer interested and left the store. This store needs to retrain there people on customer service.
Response to review:
Hi there, my name is Shannon the owner of Rocky n Roll Music. I am also the person you wrote about in this review. We are a small business owned and operated by my husband and I, and do not tolerate misinformation about our business. You are clearly a reviewer looking to damage small businesses.
You should consider shopping at big box corporate retailers instead of attempting to damage our small business that has an outstanding reputation within our community.
Response to comment from owner:
If this is misinformation then why did you not make it a point to defend yourself against any of the points I stated? You being a local mom and pop business does not make you immune to bad criticism when you give customers a bad experience. I’ve worked in retail for a number of years and try and go out of my way to support local business. This is extremely unprofessional to reply to complaints in this manner. Playing the victim after a negative interaction on your part is not becoming of you. I do wish your business the best of luck with all of your endeavors but I hope you can take this review with a grain of salt and do better with your customer service.
Hours say they are open online. Darkness. Will get my gear in springs tomorrow.

Address: 108 Snowshoe Cir, Breckenridge, CO 80424 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Dan made a custom guitar for me that is beautiful. The craftsmanship is top notch and stays in tune. I play this guitar daily and perform live with it weekly. However, the best part is the sound. It is well balanced with clean high notes and a deep low notes. The sound comes out like a canon, just the way I like. Highly recommend getting a guitar from Dan.
I had a custom guitar built from the ground up. Dan worked with me on all the details from selecting several different wood species, to the custom inlays. I couldn’t be happier with it. It sounds amazing, and is a beautiful piece of art that I love playing!
4. Alpine Music Exchange
Address: 3997 Evergreen Pkwy, Evergreen, CO 80439 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Awesome local friendly mountain music! Unlike so many other businesses in the mountains that charge extra just for staying local, Rocky Mountain Music has equipment and lessons at extremely reasonable prices with a knowledgeable staff to guide you through no matter what your level of knowledge.
Friendly family-owned music store. The young lady restrung my guitar while I waited because I told her I was heading back to Denver the next morning. Good prices, too.
Bill is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
Being a small business owner is tough these days. Please support RMME.. I truly felt like his intention was to get me the right piece, not the most expensive or most profitable.
He does great guitar work and setups! Great prices for service and some used gear. The best music store in evergreen for sure. Nice guy, helpful, knowledgable, great guitar tech, and they have a decent selection of used and new gear. Worth a stop in! I take all my guitars to him and he does as good or better than anybody in Denver for a better price.
I have purchased a few guitars from here.I love thats it is community owned, the owner works the counter most days, he is a good guy who lives to share his passion of music
Also has a great record selection for sale!
I didn’t go here for the selection of musical instruments, but they do have quite a bit. I went here to dive into their record bins. They have a pretty good selection at reasonable prices. Check it out if you are in town!
5. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Great selection of new and used, limited releases vinyl. Friendly staff. I found a few records that I had been wanting and they were reasonably priced. I will come back next time I’m in Dillon.
I was on vacation in Keystone from Texas and wanted a souvenir guitar ( birthday) from Colorado. I visited Gary’s store and left with a fine Teton guitar and case. I even went back and grabbed some vinyl because of such an awesome selection. Everything made it back to Texas in one piece. I would go there everyday if I lived closer. The world needs more stores and friendly people like Gary. Great experience.
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Limited selection, average prices
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
6. Big Hollow Guitars
Address: 152 Meridian Loop, Frisco, CO 80443 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Absolutely awesome! My acoustic needed a neck adjustment. I called Wednesday afternoon. I had a gig on Friday and needed the guitar to be fixed. He got it done that day. He builds beautiful guitars. Played me a beautiful song. Wonderful experience. Great guy.
Knowledgeable and friendly independent luthier helped us with a last-minute rental on the night of a gig.
Bevon is a fantastic builder and awesome guy. I always take my Northfield mandolin and Bourgeois guitar to him for any fixes or just to check the set up and make sure everything is looking good and feeling good before busy weekends playing shows.
Big Hollow Guitars are so beautiful and meticulously built. I’m blessed to have such a knowledgeable builder right here in Summit County.
This is someone’s house in a neighborhood and not a music or guitar store. Many home (music) businesses sneak their way onto Google maps and it wastes the time and money of people who need to purchase something quickly in a store.
If it is not a storefront, it should not be on Google maps because people waste their time navigating to places which they cannot enter, despite the location being advertised as a location you can drive to, and “open.” I needed picks and strings.
To the owner:
You should advertise this business on appropriate channels like social media and Google Search. Not Google Maps because you are not a storefront. Is your home zoned as a business location? That is what you are communicating with this time wasting listing. Good luck.
7. Lone Wolf Guitars
Address: 3735 Beaver Brook Canyon Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439 , Park County , Colorado , United States
We get music lessons here. Just couldn’t be happier! If you are looking to learn, this is the place!
Haven’t been in a while because I live so far away, but I have never found another music store on par with this one. Hopefully once I graduate and start making that career moneh I can come back and visit and maybe get another awesome acoustic guitar.
Love this place. The owners are incredible!
9. Music Go Round
Address: 8055 W Bowles Ave #2C, Littleton, CO 80123 , Park County , Colorado , United States
You will never find better deals. They consistently keep gems in stock. And the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
I’ve been going here for years for all of my musical instrument needs these guys are professional and very nice!!!
Great deal on a b-stock Roland keyboard. Super-helpful employees. Thanks guys
Love the store !!Been going there for 15 years. New owner seems to be a straight forward Stand-up guy, they said to smash this guitar my guitar tech made it play beautifully
Great place to look for used gear! They have a decent selection of everything especially if you have kids! and the employees are nice. I’ve sold a few thing here and I’ll say they offer the absolute lowest price they can when you don’t take store credit… If you have something to sell and need the cash quick it’s great otherwise you have to be looking to trade for something in the store for it to be worth it.
EDIT: Since my initial review below, Scott (the store owner) contacted me, verified my attempts at contact (taking the time to dig up emails), and made everything right. I returned the pedal and he confirmed that it was a modified unit and refunded me in total. I’m relieved to hear that this is not considered acceptable at their store and would give 5 stars if someone would have contacted me sooner. Many thanks to Scott.
INITIAL REVIEW: I purchased a used Boss FRV-1 reverb pedal online. Turned out to be a bogus pedal with some other circuit mounted in the FRV-1 chassis. The tone potentiometer was merely mounted freely and unconnected to the circuitboard to keep up the false appearance. At first, I only knew that the thing wasn’t working correctly so I emailed them but never recieved a response after repeated attempts. I hesitated to call, hoping I could figure out/find something minor about the pedal that could be easily fixed. I eventually called and was placed on hold and no one picked up. When I got around to opening the pedal chassis up, I found what I described above.
Just leaving the store now! I was trying to get some more information on a couple different things in the store but despite their not being a lot of people in the store for staff did their best to not make eye contact or help me oh well!
for a used store the prices are outrageous
What a scam. Very unfriendly staff, no customer service skills at all
10. Music & Arts
Address: 7421 W Bowles Ave Suite 12, Littleton, CO 80123 , Park County , Colorado , United States
I came in several times to ask questions and get ideas about guitar prices. I’m not a musician myself but wanted to buy a new one for my husband who is. Every time I came in everyone was more than happy to answer my questions. Today I finally bought one of the guitars (A yamaha electric-acoustic) on a great sale after seeing it a higher price last week and my husband was overjoyed. Thank you to everyone at this location for being so willing to help me where i was obviously clueless and give my husband a great surprise!
Fantastic experience. My son was interested in starting with the guitar. We visited twice over two days to decide which one to purchase. James was great – lots of information to share, answered all the questions and was infinitely patient. We started lessons at this location as well. Highly recommend.
Jasmine was helpful and polite. Always mu choice location. lesson teachers and staff are phenominal.
Low guitar selection. Great for beginners, but not top choice for a seasoned player.
They have a bunch of guitar paraphernalia, some keyboard, brass, and clarinet stuff, but nothing for oboe.
This is one of the best music store around the neighborhood. They even sale old music records and they also give lessons.
Went here to buy a few things for my guitar. I checked online to see if a specific item were available in this particular store, and it said it was. I go there and there are only 2 other people in the store. I look around myself to find my particular item and I didn’t see it. The store itself has a very small selection so it took maybe two minutes to check around. I didn’t see what I needed, so I waited near the counter to be helped. I was in the store for at least 15 minutes, and during that time, no one acknowledge my presence or even made eye contact with me. I just needed to ask a question, but apparently they were just way too busy helping the other 2 people there in that 15 minute span to even look at me. I just left, but it seemed liked it didn’t matter anyway. I definitely won’t be returning here.
We had trumpet lessons planned for over a month. We get a call TODAY that the instructor is not available any longer – same day as our first lesson. Ridiculous lack of communication and no advance notice – unorganized and disappointing. …………………..And it just got even worse. We rented a trumpet here despite the first experience – it lasted for 6 weeks – so took it back and we were told that since we didn’t buy the damage waiver, we would have to pay to have it fixed – the damage waiver clearly says it’s for loss or theft – we explained that we were given a defective instrument to begin with. It should last longer than 6 weeks when played 3 times a week. So we just left the trumpet at the store and they threatened to charge our credit card anyway. WOW! …..WORST experience ever – we do not recommend this place for lessons or rentals – worst customer service experience ever!
5 years of a rental at $28 a month, strangely I didn’t have any credit with them? ( $700 in change? That I can’t use? ) Would have been better off purchasing an instrument straight out, rather than renting never late on a payment, now they want to charge me a down payment $1,000 for an instrument that’s about $1,000 ?
Made phone calls to the manager and was in the store for about 45 minutes…. This is complete BS. Buyer beware.
11. Golden Music
Address: 10395 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Park County , Colorado , United States
While at Golden Music, I worked with an employee named Kelsey. After working with her to discern what type of ukulele would function best for me, she quickly finished the transaction and acted as though she prioritized my time. Overall, Kelsey’s knowledge and experience ensured a very pleasant experience.
This place is the best lots of instruments strings and accessories!! Super friendly employees thank you guys!!
Best Music Store Ever!!!
Meh
Took my brand new tenor sax in for an inspection are the end of May 2020 to make sure everything was in good working order from the factory. They told me it would be about a week. 2 weeks later I called to check the status and was told they had to quarantine all horns before working on them. That makes sense during covid craziness but they shouldn’t have lied to me when I took it in.
Two weeks after that, I called again to check the status. Apparently the day after I called the first time they “cleaned it and checked every key” but when they called to tell me I had the audacity to not answer the phone. They didn’t leave a voice message or ever try to call back. When I told them I was pissed about that they tried to blame it on covid! Because apparently the virus changed the way PHONES WORK!
I had decided that I wasn’t going to leave a bad review because I know how hard it can be as a small business owner myself. Then I tried to play my horn. The spring on one of the palm keys was completely out of place. It’s a 30-second fix but I JUST PAID $100 to avoid this exact problem. So basically I paid $100 to have my factory new sax that didn’t need cleaning cleaned and to have someone claim to check it and miss one of the simplest problems a sax can have. In other words they didn’t do crap, took a month to not do crap, and charged me $100 for crap. Even leaving a voice message was too much effort.
I rarely say “I’ll never be back” to a business because we’re all human and mistakes happen but this was over the top. I honestly don’t think they actually did anything and charged me for it.
On a positive note, their prices for accessories are pretty decent.
Update: After leaving a bad review the store did contact me and offer to make it right. I have to give them credit for that. So I upped my rating based on their willingness to do that.
The quality of their rental instruments is good. However their employees are beyond rude, especially Terry who is probably the rudest most condescending person I have ever spoken with. Additionally the program they have to except payments is inaccurate so while your bank statement reads that your payment has been deducted and sent to them, they call and claim no payment has been made.
We rented a cello from Golden Music through the school orchestra program. They were accommodating and helpful through the rental process. Now, the trouble begins when you return an instrument. I sent two emails with no response so I called to arrange pickup. The cello was picked up as scheduled from my child’s school. Subsequently, I had an employee come to my home to pick up the cello a week after it was picked up from the school. Then received several calls from different employees to arrange pickup. One of the employees was quite frustrated at me because the cello was already picked up. What’s concerning is how disorganized the store is when it comes to records. I expect a store that deals with large school district to have excellent records and customer service. Should we rent again, it won’t be through this store.
Tried to have them fix my nephews instrument, they called and told me it was too cheap of an instrument to bother fixing. Most insulting customer service I’ve ever had.
Horrible experience. Brought in my violin to have it priced and they said they’ll need two weeks (first red flag). Then three weeks pass and they still have not done anything. When I came to pick up my instrument, the employee had to look through piles of others to finally find it. Shows you how much they care for the instruments that are placed under their care…
Called Von’s Violin Shop in Hampton and the worker said to price would only take~ 15 mins. That’s where I’ll be going.
12. Nick Steingart Music
Address: Big Horn Rd, Vail, CO 81657 , Park County , Colorado , United States
I had the pleasure of listening to Nick play at the Red Lion last week. WOW! Amazing musician, very versatile but really delivered with a shine when playing some of the folk / classic rock stuff. I threw him a few curve ball requests, all which were delivered with grace and passion. Keep it up, mate! Hope to see you around when we visit Vail again.
13. Eagle Valley Music & Comics
Address: 211 Main St, Minturn, CO 81645 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Super friendly owners. Had everything I was looking for and then some.
Good placr
Still has copies of TWD 193. 1st and 2nd print. Really smart. DC guy but holds his own with Marvel or anything else you want to know about. If you want a true comic store experience, not the big huge places but like back in the day, make your way tp Eagle Valley Music and Comics. Blast from the Past!
Conan comics!
I walked into this little comic shop and I was definitely excited to see the number of comic books they had available. The guy who handles the comics there asked what I was looking for and I told him. At which point he went to the back to browse through his piles and piles of books to find what I had told him I was in search of. After locating some of the books I wanted/needed, he proceeded to pull up eBay for the current prices that the books were being sold for. Needless to say, my excitement quickly subsided. IF I WANTED TO SHOP ON EBAY, I’D DO IT FROM THE COMFORT OF MY OWN HOME! The guy who handles the comics clearly doesn’t realize the point of going into a LCS; which is to find those HTF/Rare/Unique hidden gems. Anybody can pay top dollar for those books, they simply need to do exactly what he did…go online! Now if the “Jonah Hill in 40 Year Old Virgin” moment wasn’t bad enough, I decided to ask about some modern issues that I needed and would be willing to pay cover for. After looking through about 1 and a half stacks of books (maybe 100 or so comics), the guy says to me “oh, those are in storage”…..for every book I bring up after. Storage being that back room and according to him, 500k books upstairs. I don’t doubt he has that many up there, seeing as how he’s asking top dollar for every book and it’s apparently too much effort to go into the back room or upstairs to locate what the customer is asking for. I was prepared to look through his collection and spend an absurd amount of money when I walked in there, but in the end, I paid him $20 for about 5 cover price moderns. My guess is the 4.9 stars this place currently has must be based on the vinyl part of the store (which did look impressive), but as far as the comic book section goes, stay home, sit in your favorite recliner, kick your feet up, crack a beer, pull up eBay and shop to your hearts content. It sure as hell beats driving to Minturn, CO for what I experienced. You ever even heard of Minturn!? Yeah, me neither, and I’m from Colorado!
Not very customer friendly
I asked about certain comics and was basically denied because they were “too expensive “
And was referred to the “affordable “ box
He kept bragging about the amount of comics he had stocked in the back and wouldn’t even let me and my brother look at them
The store was extremely cluttered and unorganized.
I would not recommend shopping here what so ever
14. Drum City-Guitar Land
Address: 9225 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Park County , Colorado , United States
Great place always a good time Drum city always seems to have what I want at a good price.
Super helpful and very knowledgeable. They helped me with my son’s first drum set, and took a lot of time explaining assembly, tuning etc.
Nice selection, and friendly and knowledgeable staff. I’d give them a look if you’re looking for a better alternative to the big box store.
This place is pretty pricey. They say their drum heads are half off but the original price is double of what you would pay everywhere else around town, so you break even.
Shopping here since I was a kid. Lot of history in this lil’ place. Professional though.
Nice music equipment… But very expensive
I ordered an item online that was in stock that the time of ordering. I even called in the store to confirm. I received an email A WEEK LATER saying my order was canceled because the item was out of stock. First and last time I ever buy from this store.
I purchased a guitar from this company for my husband, it was a 7 string Schecter Omen which was something he had been wanting for quite some time so I purchased it as a surprise gift for him. He used the guitar once and the next time he went to play it wasn’t working. We took it to a company that fixes guitars and they informed us that it was a used guitar.. I paid full price for a guitar that was not only USED but BROKE immediately after purchase!! If you’re in the market for a guitar I highly suggest that you search elsewhere. Drum City is not a reliable place to purchase from
Bought a Schecter Tempest custom which was “supposed” to come with American made Seymour Duncan pickups. After I purchased the guitar they emailed me saying there was an “issue” with my pickups, and that they needed to be replaced. Yeah; they replaced them alright…with Duncan Disigned pickups…..scumbags.
Have and never will do business with again! BUYER BEWARE!!!!
15. Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor
Address: 7515 Grandview Ave, Arvada, CO 80002 , Park County , Colorado , United States
If you like antique and vintage acoustic instruments than this place is your jam(but, like, actually though, ) There is always an interesting and changing selection, and the fellas in the back really know their stuff about repairs. I’ve had my guitars set up here a number of times.
Been using this shop for repairs and setups for about 10 years now. I also frequent the store whenever I’m in town. Always a pleasure
Great shop, great guys, great guitars. If you’re looking for quality acoustics, this is the place. They do great setup and repair work on all guitars as well. Have had electrics and basses setup here and they play like a dream now
Great little shop offering guitars, mandolins, banjos and a huge variety of stringed instruments both for sale and/or repair. A fun shop to visit, and if you play to try out the various instruments.
First…the prices are way too high! The proprietor is a pompous chap to say the least. I walked into The Old Pickin’ Parlor today with $1500 in my pocket in hopes of finding a decent guitar. The gentleman who was running the store looked me up and down (sized me up) and went back to talking to the postman who had stopped to deliver the mail. Not a hello or howdy. I just moved here from Portland, Oregon and found that to be out of character from the friendliness I have found in the Denver area. I then started to look at some of the guitars. The store has some nice Martins, Collings, What looked to be Rhode Island Guilds behind the counter, etc.. I also noticed that the prices were inflated. I have been a collector/player since the 70’s and Have bought guitars from coast to coast. I know the going rate, and these were boutique prices. The real kicker was the guy behind the counter. After his initial glance, he never said another word to me. He made/answered a couple of calls of a personal nature in which he talked about playing an open mic the previous night. He called the sound man at this venue a 25 year old idiot with a tin ear, but despite that, he and his partner “wowed” the crowd anyway. His tone was abrasive and I thought it was so unprofessional to speak like that in front of a (now not so likely) paying customer. I decided to exit the store, and upon doing so looked over my shoulder. The guy was glaring at me! I had to laugh…wow! He did me the best favor possible, because I went to another acoustic specialty store in town and found a Guild NT-72! They only made 200 of these in 1994 (before Fender bought them) and it is unbelievable. Even more unbelievable is that I paid only $1700 for it. It was only $100 more than one of the stock J-50 Guild’s that this guy had at the Old Pickin’ Parlor. Look up the NT-72…you will see what a gem it is. Thanks brother! You may have wowed the crowd at the Open Mic, but you left this audience member(customer) unimpressed and slightly offended.
NOTE: There are other places that will treat you like an old friend in Denver…Try them first:)
Take pictures of your equipment before you drop it off. They’ll upcharge you like a dirty car salesman.
I was looking forward to visiting, but after this experience it is highly unlikely I will ever go back. The guy working the counter today could not have cared less that a customer was in the store and interested in guitars. I tried to engage him in conversation, but he had zero interest in chatting with me. Thoroughly unimpressed. I have a hard time believing they will be able to stay in business if this is how most of the people who try to shop there are treated. I love to support local businesses, but unfortunately this won’t be one I support in the future. If you need anything guitar or music related, you’re probably better off finding another place to shop.
16. Cari Dell Guitar Instruction in Woodland Park, Colorado 719-291-1081
Address: 108 S Evergreen St, Woodland Park, CO 80863 , Park County , Colorado , United States
I never thought I had the coordination to play a guitar, but after Cari’s instruction I’m able to play various chords and rhythm patterns. The most important thing about Cari’s teaching style is that she makes me want to learn more after each lesson. Cari is always patient and works hard to make sure I understand the chords and rhythm patterns during each lesson so that I can practice at home. She also makes herself available outside our schedule lesson in case I have any questions. Overall I highly recommend Cari not only for guitar lessons, but if you every have a chance to catch her solo or group performances they are a real treat.
Cari is AMAZING and the band is great too! If you haven’t gotten out to see one of her shows.. RUN – don’t walk! What talent!
If you have ever wanted to learn to play guitar, or improve your guitar skills, Cari Dell is the woman to call! Besides being the most talented guitarist I’ve ever heard, Cari is also an amazing guitar instructor. I started taking lessons from Cari when I was 60 years old. I’ve wanted to play guitar since I was a teenager, but the opportunity never presented itself until I met Cari at one of her shows. Cari is so encouraging, positive and patient in her teaching instruction, and she gave me great tools to use when I practiced at home. Call Cari and set up your first lesson…….you’ll be so happy you did!!!
17. Richard Ball and The Rikki-Ticky Paranoid Psychedelic Bluegrass Band
Jess was the violinist at our wedding in Pennsylvania. She was extremely easy to work with and took the initiative to contact our bag piper and organist to review music and coordinate day of wedding performances.
Her skillful talent coupled with her friendly and outgoing personality make her a dream! Highly recommend!
I’ve hired her for multiple events and I always hear great things from the audience. She is very professional and great musician!
Jessica has been an amazing influence in our children’s lives! Jessica taught both of our daughters violin and she brought so much compassion, knowledge, fun, understanding, patience and joy into their lives while teaching them. She is a fantastic teacher and they both loved their time with Jessica.
I’ve seen The People’s Key at both Highside and Angry James.. Their set was lively and engaging with a great selection of songs. Can’t wait to catch them again.
The People’s Key is an amazing local band who play great music that ensures a fun time for all!! Don’t miss an opportunity to see them play!
It’s always a great time when I go listen to Lauren and the fellas of The People’s Key! They’re one of the few bands I’ll go out of my way to see in Summit County, and they never disappoint. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
