Sean is a fantastic teacher. I learned something and got better every lesson.
I have had three music teachers prior and never received the patience, clarity, and kindness that Sean has shown me over my year knowing him. I highly recommend him as a teacher for all ages.
My daughter began taking guitar lessons with Sean Carolan when she was 8 years old. Sean also worked with her vocals at the same time! She is now 15 years old and the Lead Singer of a local rock band called Collision and an acoustic duo called Concrete Cupcakes!!!! They have played large venues such as Durty Nellies and The Arlington Ale House. My daughter is living her dream and it all began with Sean Carolan’s selfless dedication to his students. He truly cares about his students and is very trustworthy! We were fortunate to find him and begin the building block of music for her. He has the ability to work with people of all ages and create confidence that didn’t even know they had.
4. School of Rock
Address: 15 N Prospect Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068 , Park Ridge , Illinois , United States
Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!
Lauren Hayes is a delight–and a masterful musician who brings joy, energy and structure to every lesson. Her approach to teaching is thoughtful with a clear intent to build confidence in her students and support them in their love of playing. The results prove it–my 3 kids practice without reminders and are advancing quickly. Thank you, Lauren, for your dedication and for sharing your talents so generously and lovingly!
Diana, our violin teacher is so professional and very positive! She is patient and such a great fit for a student just starting out an instrument for the first time. I have also been impressed with our new piano teacher, Connor, my younger boys really respond to his teaching methods well!
We love House Call Music! We have done both in-person (pre-pandemic) and virtual lessons and the switch to virtual was seamless. My daughters’ violin instructor, Diana, is an amazing musician who knows how to keep young children interested and engaged. My girls have thrived under her tutelage!

Great place if you want your kids to learn how to play piano. We were referred by friends whose kids had been attending piano classes and Yevgeniya’s school, and decided to give it a shot with our own kids. Within a year we got impressive results. It will be hard work, but it does pay off. And the kids love the school too!
Great Music School. I’ve been playing piano for 7 years and i’ve gotten so much better and developed a love for piano because of Yevgeniya Lepskaya!!
Your child will excel at piano. The teachers are very effective and efficient.
I know these guys and if your into music Don’t Miss This Local music shop.Your bound to find something that grabs you. Perfect time for Xmas gift giving call for hours …..Cheers Bartender Bob.
Great selection of vinyl and CDs. Keep on rocking!
Small shop, but great place. Lots of records, mainly boomer music but not all bad. The venue in the back is where it’s really at. Watch shows there!
13. Off the Wall Cafe
Address: 104 Main St, Park Ridge, IL 60068 , Park Ridge , Illinois , United States
Dark Matter Coffee pour over available, need I say more?
Such a novel place! They have an incredibly diverse drink selection, and also have Great board and card games you can rent to play while you hang out! The staff are really chill and knowledgable, and the place has an awesome layout! Check this place out!
Nice place. Great outdoor seating and parking alh.
Coffee was superb
Food is ok… ordered Build-A-Nacho, shareable size and came with little to no meat. There was no table service at least for the patio area.
coffee is just fine, nothing special, probably won’t come back again
I ordered a lavender vanilla latte and the Cubano nachos. They were both acceptable. My kid really liked the hot chocolate. Simple and well organized interior. The menu was easy enough to navigate & the games are a nice touch. Check them out.
Coffee was fine but the 7$ for a small bite size sausage/egg/cheese? No thx…
Wanted to like this place but quite literally the worst drip coffee I’ve ever had. Folgers is an upgrade.
Last two visits were horrible. They were having espresso machine issues and the lattes we got were disgusting and went down the drain. This weekend it took over 30 mins for two lattes and the barista excuse was there wasn’t a ticket. No apology or acknowledgment. This place has gone downhill. I will not return nor do I recommend.
14. Starbucks
Address: 15 S Prospect Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068 , Park Ridge , Illinois , United States
Starbucks is my favorite coffee place! Especially this one!
Excellent customer care
Love the refreshing drinks
Nice location next ro pickwick. Can get busy during the week.
Sadly this Starbucks has been better. Service way too slow.
It is a Starbucks. You get what you expect. Location is good. Across from the library, half a block from the train station. Store itself is small. Limited courtyard seating in summer. Parking somewhat difficult. There’s another a block south on NW Hwy.
It’s Starbucks. The coffee sucks. But when you need a cup and it’s the only place you have to deal with it.
Hate starbucks…
Worst Starbucks I have been too, weird people and they ar missing supplies, never want to go back!
15. Family Piano Co
Address: 267 Golf Mill Center, Niles, IL 60714 , Park Ridge , Illinois , United States
Bought my first upright piano here. The team walked me through what was important and helped me make the decision. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Great inventory.
Good service is often hard to come by!
I was very happy with the service my husband and I received at Family Piano Co Waukegan. We were welcomed by the staff and they went to the extra effort of bringing a piano from their other store for me to trial (which I ended up purchasing)!
I love my new Kawai ES920 keyboard and I would highly recommend this company to anyone searching for a keyboard/piano.
In January of 2023 we purchased a Kawai CA49 from family piano, and 10 months later we couldn’t be happier.
Brendan and Alice were extremely patient and helpful in helping us understand our options and the differences between various models. We stopped by many evenings just for fun, in fact we found the place quite by accident on our way to the Past Times in search of Pokemon cards.
The showroom was always a fun and inviting diversion, but when our very old piano began to show it’s limitations we were able to find a great piano at a fair price. They spent so much time explaining the different mechanical actions in the digital pianos, and it really does make a difference in the playing.
Brendan even took the time to test the piano after installing it in our house, and I appreciated his suggestion for the Simply Piano app. He had no affiliation with them, but he still took the time to educate us on the app and why it would be beneficial, and he was right.
In short I think they are extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy, and just all around great folks.
This is kind of a no-nonsense shop for pianos, ukeleles, guitars, and keyboards. They have some other incidentals but the staff is very helpful, very knowledgeable and they have the availability of offering advanced services to support any piano that you might have. The overall “Mall” experience is very George Romero-like but this store seems to be doing well enough here. Lots of floor space, many pianos. I played a Dean acoustic guitar here for the first time in my life. Oddly I don’t think I knew that they made anything other than the infamous “Flying V”. Cool, clanky guitar actually. We bought a new concert Uke and strings for my Martin.

The family piano co service is very good for us and help me find out good instruments . But rental areas the piano teacher not well so older .she doesn’t nicely to kids and always talks to students about except teach content . Almost never demonstrate how to play the piano Alway use the most .the kids everytime back to home need go to YouTube find out how is play the song . I lots of time thinking about her waste of money and time to do her pension.doesn’t let kids grow up .learn few year doesn’t learn anything.if someone wants to not keeping up with the times kids go there learn to piano need clean eyes and check it . I think the older teacher is older ideas ,not keeping up with the times
I hired Jodi for our neighborhood Halloween event, and her Spooktacular Jinglejam was a huge success! The kids were engaged and had a great time!
Jodi is amazing. My daughter turned three last week and Jodi put a virtual concert together with all of my daughters friends. My daughter loved it! We were able to record it, so we have a memory of this crazy period we are in and how we celebrated my daughters birthday. Please consider a virtual zoom party with Jodi!
Jodi’s classes are always super fun and engaging, a great activity for kiddos of all ages!
17. Sound World Solutions
Address: 960 N Northwest Hwy, Park Ridge, IL 60068 , Park Ridge , Illinois , United States
Not the best looking thing, but it works very well and functions nicely as a Bluetooth. I can hear high ranges much better, plus I love the rechargeable batteries.
I have enjoyed the CS50 for 5 years. In addition to custom programming for my specific loss, I can listen privately to any radio or TV show using the bluetooth capability, as well as answer the cell phone, and the spare battery enables continuous use. Reasonable price also.
My hearing aid has worked fine for over a year. Company replaced batteries that seemed to be from a batch that was not up to snuff.
I have been using Sound World devices since 2016. They provide excellent sound for different environments. The entertainment and restaurant settings are very helpful. Blue tooth connectivity is excellent for TV and device listening. Overall an excellent value with good service. A negative is the micro USB battery charging. The device has to be returned to be replaced.
Good quality, affordable personal sound amplification. Good technical support on the web site and via email. 3x purchaser. Will buy again!
The customer service at Sound World Solutions is excellent. We have purchased both the HD100 Companion and the HD75 hearing aids. The HD100 stopped holding a charge after a couple years so we tried the HD75. My husband has trouble changing the batteries and inserting the smaller HD75 model and finds that they clog with wax easily. Customer service has helped us resolve this issue by providing wax guards for the HD75.
I ordered the Companion Hearing Aids and they arrived on July 20th. I tried all the suggestions from the website, but they just don’t work for me. Amplifies the background noise too much. I am trying to contact the company to return the produce before the 45 day guarantee and the phone number box is full. I have sent 2 emails to customer support with no response in return. Not a good reflection on the company.
I purchased their top of the line product, HD100-HA, Companion a year and a half ago. This is an actual hearing aid not just a personal sound amplifier. I am totally satisfied with how the product works. The rechargeable batteries last all day if I turn off the Bluetooth. The phone App that controls the sound adjustments is very well executed and easy to learn and navigate. The adjustments are easy to do to get the sound as good as possible. I was able to adjust my hearing aids to sound as good as some $5,400 hearing aids that I tried out for a week. They stood by their warranty and turned around my aids sent for repair in less than a week.
However, the physical design of the product leaves much room for improvement.
1. No matter which tip I use, and I’ve tried all their custom tips, the ear pieces work themselves out of position in my ears and have to be repositioned frequently especially if I am eating or talking. The $5,400 competitor has a very effective method of retaining their earpieces that involve a little whisker spring that locks into your outer ear.
2. The tiny cable between the earpiece and body of the hearing aid is adjustable via a telescoping, flexible tube. After a while the telescoping portion locks up and the cable length can no longer be adjusted. So once it is adjusted at first, it is better to leave it that way and not try to adjust it again, or you can damage the tiny cable, which is what I did.
3. The worst problem is that the plastic shell that fits behind your ear partially disintegrates where the battery charger cable plugs into the USB port. The owner’s manual describes how to plug and unplug the charger to avoid damaging the shell but even after carefully following their instructions I’ve broken four of their hearing aids. To their credit they quickly replaced three of the units under warranty. The fourth one broke after the end of the warranty, so I glued it back together myself. Until they announce that they have fixed this problem I cannot recommend their product. If they could fix this problem I would highly recommend their product because I can live with the other two problems I’ve described.
I want to report that they repaired my hearing aid that was out of warranty for free. They apparently have improved the shell around the charger plug as the repaired model that I just received appeared to have a thicker shell above the charger port. I can now give their product my full recommendation.
I dropped my CS50+ and sent it in for repair, which was slightly off. {The device slips by itself from one preset to another.} Also, now
the earpiece won’t stay in my ear {I have 3 different sizes}. I guess that by dropping it, I made it not workable.
