Out of all of the musical instrument stores in the Bay Area, this place has become one of my favorites. I always enjoy stopping by.
Amazing selection of awesome guitars!
The people are helpful and friendly.
Friendly and knowledgable sales staff … outstanding selection of guitars and accessories. Experienced and honest repair staff.
This store is among the finest in the States, making it a must-visit for acoustic players! Chris has deep knowledge about vintage guitars, graciously allows you to explore an impressive range of high-end instruments, from vintage Martin Gibson to modern high end Collings, Martin CS.
I don’t much like these guys. I worked right around the corner from them and saw them regularly. Fake would be a good way to describe them. Also the manager told me I could drop my guitar off (his idea) before they opened because I wouldn’t be able to leave work until after they’d be closed. I brought the guitar by a week later before they opened and he didn’t remember me. He gave me an attitude, just staring at me and pointing at their open time printed on the window. If you’ve got a personality best kept to a cubicle in the basement maybe you shouldn’t be involved in customer service, in any capacity.
2. Penngrove Thrift
Address: 9550 Main St, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
This place is like a hidden treasure in Pengrove, it’s on the main street and is only open Saturday and Sunday. But if you love music, are an avid thrifter you will love this place. There’s always something new and interesting when I go in … and that’s almost every week.
I’m not sure if the guy that helped us was the owner or not, but he was a really nice guy and gave us a good deal on our purchases. There wasn’t necessarily a lot of stuff that I was interested in, but I would go again just based on the good experience.
this is a cool place. owner and staff are extremely nice, they negotiate, regularly have new inventory, and prices are mostly reasonable. there are bargains to be had here, which is rare these days.
small. but if u love vinyls and old movies they have a lotta that
Great little shop. They have all kinds of nostalgia. Ended up getting some vinyl for my self.
Poorly organized and no visible prices. However a very interesting place to fig. You never know what you’ll find.
Tuesday at noon, closed. Did I miss that on Google?
I called a stereo he had for sale it sounded like something I wanted but I wanted to talk with him tomorrow and asked for a phone number he said I could reach him here in messenger i replied that i dont like to do business on messenger and could pay him with a credit card tomorrow and his response was a cash only deal my response was that I did not feel like he was someone i felt good doing business with and he removed his add. which makes me feel like there is something very wrong and shady with this guy I feel they are not good people to do business with …
I had the unfortunate experience of so many personal items being put into a storage unit because of our lack of space in our apt. The owners of the unit Mick and Damion (Social Club, Petaluma) stopped paying rent. I was unaware and lost every single photo I owned, college degree cert, and priceless jewelry and memorabilia. I had no chance to get anything back. Uhaul said owner of auction unit just had to tell them personal items are able to be returned if they just contacted them. Penngrove owner and POS told me it was “too much work” to call the storage location and so he sent everything to the dump. He then charged me $15 for a purse I found that was my Grandmother’s.
3. The Hello Shops – Hello Penngrove
Address: 10101 Main St, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
If you need a gift this is a great place to go. They have so many great items to choose from and they are very helpful when needed. Easy parking too.
The best children’s gift store around… but no children’s cook books. Everything Sonoma County is available.
Wowwww – AMAZING fun store!! You could spend days in here finding quality unique goodies for babies, kids and adults that would last a lifetime. Festive decor for the holidays. A hidden gem in the cute town of Penngrove that I would drive miles away to come to…❤️ 5-star!
I think this is one of the cutest shops I’ve ever seen. They have beautiful, quality made children’s toys, clothes and accessories. The prices are set for a boutique, so a bit higher than Carter’s or Target. They will gift wrap for you with adorable bags and ribbon, but you won’t get a gift receipt…it’s electronic. It’s easier to find clothes for girls here, but they have great toys for both boys and girls.
Lots of cute items
4. Penngrove Market
Address: 10070 Main St, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
Friendly people, fresh food, a lot of local products. Great gluten free selection.
Lovely assortment of quality delicious ready meals and desserts as well as most items I am looking for! Excellent customer care and service!
Great
Friendly staff, quality produce, reasonable prices, great setting
Good quality of foods and products, downside is most items are high priced. Parking can be a hassle as there are not enough parking spaces for customers. The wood fired pizza is worth going to the market for.
I didn’t go in. My car was broke down with a bad battery. A nice lady gave me a jump start.
NOPE NOPE.
This place is very expensive. The coffee in the morning was bitter and tasted like rag water. So I bought a sandwich wich was 10$ for a tiny 4 inch ham and cheese sandwich. I opened it to the bottom piece of bread being completely soggy. I then asked why this was so she began to tell me that the sandwiches are made in the beginning of the week and stays on the line till sold! They don’t even make new sandwiches! The cafe across the street is way better than the market for sandwiches and coffee. They also don’t sell expired meat in the store. Aswell as making everything’s so expensive the average person cant even afford.
5. Sonoma County Guitarworks
Address: 3091 Eastman Ln, Petaluma, CA 94952 , Penngrove , California , United States
Geoff and the crew are true professionals. The quality of the work they do is of the highest level. As a luthier and technician myself, I can attest to this. They have serviced several instruments of mine now, across a variety of issues including finishing, Plek setup, modifications, and parts installs, and it’s all been done in a reasonable amount of time and at a reasonable cost. I always look forward to driving out to the shop! I recommend them without reservation.
Great experience taking a one day course in guitar set up. Would definitely recommend.
We had a little breakdown in communication and things took a while longer than estimated, but my Epiphone Les Paul now plays like a guitar many times it’s retail value, and looks and sounds phenomenal considering the condition it was in when I brought it in. Pretty impressed with the price all said and done as well. It’s my new favorite guitar, thanks Geoff.
I called her inquiring about some of their classes, and one of their employees just hung up on me, maybe they are good at what they do, but the attitude of the staff seems to be garbage. If I am about to spend the kind of money they ask for, they should have time for a few questions. Don’t recommend.
6. Stanroy Music Center
Address: 850 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Penngrove , California , United States
6/25/202i
My apologies to this store. I accidentally posted a negative review here that was to be for another store. So….please accept my deepest apologies and any review showing from Mike F (myself) here is by complete accident and should not be held as truthful. Thanks you…and again, I am sorry for the mix up.
I had a fantastic experience here last week. Would highly recommend!
An amazing place. All the people there are really nice and are great to talk to as a musician. Their repair shop is also really good, I got my bass trombone fixed and got it back within 24 hours. It’s an amazing place just to even have a conversation or just to look at all the things they have there. They will have almost anything you need there(unless you need a bass trombone lyre lol)
The folks in the repair shop are great. Always reasonable when setting expectations.
They’re always so helpful.
Great guitar store.
I love the environment in this store and is my preferred music store for my brass needs. The only complaint is the repairman in the back was very rude to me and I could wait to get out after he talked to me.
I was pretty amazed by the amount of instruments that were in the store, it was pretty cool. I walked in, only greeted by a man behind the counter, facing towards the wall, raised his hand with a half-attempt “Hey.” I was there to pick up some tenor sticks for marching band, so I walked over to the stick rack. There was almost no marching percussion sticks, but a really good variety of other sticks. I found some tenor sticks, poorly packaged and plastic with some cuts and tears. There were only 3 pairs, so I picked one up to see the price… Sad, I must say at the least. I spent $30 on ONE pair of Promark TS8’s. I didn’t want to buy it, but I had no choice. Probably won’t be buying from there anymore, I’m better off getting 4 pairs of TS8’s on Amazon for $30 !!!
Muchos instrumentos musicales hechas en China .
7. Kala Brand Music Co
Address: 1129 Industrial Ave STE 204, Petaluma, CA 94952 , Penngrove , California , United States
Awesome quality, absolutely love Kala ukuleles!! Highly recommend!
Kala is my go to brand for ukuleles. I own three, a solid mahogany concert, a white arch top tenor, and a Solid Acacia Tenor with 6 strings. My husband has a Makala tenor he got started on and his step up instrument a solid cedar top with paduk binding and rosette. We have only bought one ukulele directly from Kala however. Most of the ukes came from Hawaiian Music Supply. I will also add We have a ukulele group called the Reedley Ukulele Ohana. Most of the members play Kala as well.
My first instrument to own was a Kala Soprano as of Feb. 2021. I now own an Exotic Mahogany Concert Uke. I’ve purchased several other accessories for my ukes, gig bags, wall hooks, amps, etc. Each order shipped promptly, within 24hrs of purchasing. Their customer service is 5-star,
Very prompt responses each time I email them.
I would highly recommend this company.
Hi,
I ordered my first ukulele and I’m really excited. The ukulele came safely packed. With the Kala app I tuned them and played my first chords.
The first impression: very nice instrument, well made and perfect for me as a beginner.
There are only 4 stars, because of course I have to play more often and only then the real quality of the product shows.
Hi, I love your instruments, and have two ukeleles at home, but ups has been waiting all the week for you to send them some of the information needed for the tag and my delivery of one I ordered (I’m in Mexico) has not arrived and cannot procede if you don’t communicate with UPS to complete the info you gave them. Have a really nice day
AWFUL. I am on my third return. Nobody seems to pay any attention at KALA. I keep getting replacements with obviously broken parts. I have been trying to resolve getting a broken instrument for 2 months and I’m out of patience.
Update. KALA took care of everything so I am updating my review with gratitude.
I picked up a Kala Brand Music UBass on an endorsement deal. The bass did not work on arrival and I just ended up loosing some good money by selling it as dysfunctional. A thank you to the buyer who contacted me asking where the charger was? Apparently this was supposed to ship with a charger — but after looking in the obvious places on their website and shipping info, there is no information about that anywhere, nor did any manual come with my instrument. I had to find out from my buyer and confirm with a Kala distributors YouTube video. Obviously, if I would have seen a charger with a quarter inch cable sticking out of it I probably would have put two and two together but that wasn’t included with my bass.. Support didn’t think to mention this. Maybe it would have been taken care of if I had ever received a followup email. We’re talking about direct sales here people.. and if they can’t handle that I can’t imagine what their customer service to the general public is.
Hi, I am staying in Malaysia, can I know which courier company offered for free oversea delivery?
Can we track the package upon delivery?
im done to ask at email/at ig/ig story and i do a call ur HQ but no one is answer it … why ya ?
I ordered a Kala Brand ukulele and never received it. I was told it would take 4 weeks to arrive. That was pushed back to 6 weeks. Then was told it would be another 6 weeks. Too long to wait. Order canceled.
8. Penngrove Motorcycle Company
Address: 9585 Main St, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
Frendy fokes lots ove good parts too .probley going to take my Harley there to have transmissions rebilt
Friendly knowledgeable staff and a great accessories selection for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. I always have everything I need taken care of before u leave
Everything you need in Harley parts and service
Poor work, overcharged for work NOT done. Would never go back!
Hey, the best place in town.Great service with a great price, wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Guy was a real jerk. If I could rate 0 stars that would be this place.
9. Smythe’s Accordion Center
Address: 442 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA 94952 , Penngrove , California , United States
Took my accordion to get fixed. Great service , reasonably priced and honest repair. Highly recommended
So glad I found this place. Waiting for my repairs and cleaning on my accordion. Can’t wait to see the results. Very knowledgeable team and very friendly.
Very knowledgable – fast shipping – fantastic.
One of the few accordian repair places in California. They do a good job on accordian repair and tuning. Their price quotes are on point, no hidden or unexpected charges.
Seems like they don’t want a customer. The people are not friendly. They look so irritated when we just walked in.
I came to share a technical problem on an accordion which was under warranty, and ask owner’s opinion on whether this could be fixed or not. He basically just wanted to avoid spending time on it and did not even listen the problem. His behavior and comments were rude and unwelcoming, while he had been very friendly before I buy the accordion.
Well… I brought my fathers Horner there for repair. After 2 months Kim returned me the instrument basically without any exterior repair and said that he was fixing the engine, not the paint. From and estimate of 350 to 450, I was charged 505 dollars and after explaining my disappointment and frustration he said I could stop later for another 5 min repair on the fabric who is broken. If you spent that much time to fix the instrument, what would be anther 5 minutes to give me an instrument visually restored too? I feel tricked and frustrated for trying to support local business and leaving with a bad taste in my mouth. I find it important to write this down here so if someone else needs an instrument restored they make sure to understand the expectations . If Mr Kim is serious on showing some love to me and my instrument I would be willing to bring it back to complete the service.
10. Bananas At Large
Address: 531 College Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Penngrove , California , United States
The Staff particularly Sergio was very helpful and courteous. He assisted in expediting my purchased bass set up in the time frame which was convenient. I traveled from Alameda. I was able to buy the gear and return within 1 hour. Thanks Again Sergio and Bananas At Large. Best Regards, Garfield Kincross.
I had a good experience here. The employees were really nice to me and helped me get the stuff I was looking for.
Very professional and knowledgeable. They will answer your questions about most anything music related.
Always fun. Good stuff.
Buen lugar
Nice, small music store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I would like this place better if they didn’t try to upsell me super expensive guitars. I mean honestly I don’t know how this place is in business with these prices during covid. You would think they were for the people.
Theyre called Bananas at large cuz it’s robbery and they’re basically criminals at large. Decent selction at outrageous prices.
11. Twin Oaks Roadhouse
Address: 5745 Old Redwood Hwy, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
Great local.spot. friendly staff, stellar atmosphere, yummy food and great selection of bevis
Great spot for a beer garden afternoon. Their backyard BBQ concert series on Sunday afternoons are greatà
Good food and great beer! First time eating there. We’ll be going back.
Friendly extension of Hop Monk Tavern
Fast service fun visit
Great food
Don’t get me wrong the experience can be good, they have fun people come and do events but the food is horrible and the bartender occasionally makes it worth your time not someplace I’d stop.
The hamburger was undercooked and cold, the bun was stale, french fries over cooked and salty. The coleslaw was too acidic to eat.
The “sizzling” fajita wasn’t, and had barely enough for the tortillas, and didnt come w rice or beans, A good place to grab a beer, but don’t eat there.
Hugo approaches his craft with such grace and humbleness. He is extremely talented and knowledgeable, looking forward to bringing more guitars his way. Highly recommend.
Stunning work. These instruments are inspiring, and a joy to play. Hugo is a master at his craft.
Kris set up one of my guitars and did an amazing job! Surprisingly enough, some of the problems on my intstrument weren’t properly addressed by a renowned SF guitar shop.
in my experience, somewhat careless and unprofessional. damaged the finish on my instrument and didn’t acknowledge it or seem to notice. really surprising. poor communication, unresponsive and flaky.
UPDATE: received really nice, flowery reply from the owner here. that sounds good and all on the surface in terms of appearances, but the conundrum is that now we have a person who brought us here in the first place by being unresponsive inviting me to message them.
13. Mack’s Bar & Grill
Address: 10056 Main St, Penngrove, CA 94951 , Penngrove , California , United States
Mack’s is my Home Bar. Just Great Friends and Family. Welcome Back!!!!
Cool little bar with live music on some weekends with great bands…not too crowded
Best hot dogs as far as I’m concerned.
Great service. Good breakfast.
Bar food but good bar food
It’s a bar
Quaint and slow
We we’re bar hopping and ended up at Mack’s I asked the bartender what was on tap. She said ”Beer”. I just had to laugh. I love dive bars but this place was a joke. Do yourself a favor and pass on this place Will not return.
