The guys at Canton music have made every experience in their shop amazing and memorable! Great selection and great service! They’re my new hometown music store!
I had an amazing time at this store and found so many options available for beginning musicians and seasoned alike. I saw a bad review from someone who got cut off by a truck, yet had never been into the store. That is completely unfair. Pick up a phone and call the owners and let them know. That’s all it takes. Anyway, I found the staff knowledgeable and excited about their work. It’s refreshing to find such a passionate staff. I can’t wait for my first lesson. What a great addition to Canton.
Great staff. Very friendly. Prices were great!
Owner (I assume (wears glasses)) is arrogant and unfriendly. When purchasing strings, I asked what guage and web he recommended for my purposes. He looked at me and answered as if I was an idiot for asking in the first place. Strings were $5 more than I can get them online, so next time I will wait on them to come in the mail instead of supporting a local business. $17 for elixirs. Unfortunate.
The entire experience there is subpar. First, it has absolutely no character. Everything is very sterile and impersonal. Maybe it’s a personal preference, but I prefer a bit of an offbeat feeling in music stores. Second, I understand you wouldn’t carry instruments or other big ticket items for lefties, but picks (banjo – thumb) are dirt cheap and keeping a bag of them around shouldn’t be an imposition. Your function is to sell that sort of thing. The goal is to always be able to say, yes I have that. Third, and most importantly, the people who run it are just awful at dealing with the public. As some have said, they do comment on customers behind their backs. I have had this same complaint from people I know personally. I’m 50 and clean cut. The older guy literally followed me around the store when I visited (you can view 99.9% of the place from the counter), as if he was selling diamonds and I was going to shove them in my pockets. All in all, there are better places and better folks to deal with than these.
I bid 4000.00 on a Gibson Gold Top guitar listed at 4,999.00 . They countered my offer with 5,299.00?? I’ve never heard of anything like this.
The store counter to my offer was more than the original price?? That’s so wrong. Hoof luck dealing with these guys.

Amazing service, prices are very reasonable, wide variety. I definitely recommend this music store!!
Wonderful place,Good folks work there!
Great little place, stocked with everything you need. Knowledgable staff and great service. They know what they’re doing with repairs as well.
Great prices, friendly people
Went here purely to find an acoustic to put my fingers on while I was on vacation… had 3 electrics because I’m recording on the way back home… but wanted an acoustix… but tbh I had a hard time finding something I could justify. I was looking for a throwaway type instrument but one that didn’t lose intonation when fretting an 11th fret for example, due to string action. Found one I almost bought but decided not to… the only section I was semi into was the very few in the back right side of the building where there was a strat, tele, LP (cant Remember), Martin acoustic….all of which were appropriately priced. None of which were at such a deal I just had to get it… was easy to walk away.
Great store for instruments. Variety from guitars, to ukuleles, to drums, plus amps and band instruments. They also have pianos. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Great little shop with friendly service and the prices are great compared to other shops around Canton.
Great place
Stopped by with my wife and son who is interested in playing a bass guitar. We were greeted by Jim (owner) and he immediately directed my son to go and play a bass guitar while my wife and I talked with Jim. He was very professional and it did not seem like we were talking to a car salesman. He was very informative and made us feel very comfortable, we decided to buy the guitar and felt the price was great. I would recommend JAWS for all your musical needs. Thanks Jim….
Cool store no other music stores in Canton owner is cool
Knowledgeable, friendly owner. Cozy shop and nice environment. Now, if I could just magically learn how to play…..I’d give it one more star….
support your local music stores. professional repairs and great service. These guys give fair prices on trade-ins as well.
I needed a setup for my Gibson Les Paul and decided to give Jaws a shot because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews. I dropped of my guitar and told the luthier that I was experiencing a lot of fret buzz. The turn around time was very quick and I was able to pick it up the next day. I was told that there would still be some buzz based on my attack, which seemed like a cop out. I asked if there were any high frets and I was assured that there were none. I took the guitar home and played it to find that I was still experiencing buzzing even when strummed lightly. I pulled out the fret rocker to find that several of my frets were high despite what the shop told me. Overall, this was a waste of time and money and I’m very disappointed with the level of service.

Donleys music is Amazing! Donleys music is a very friendly and welcoming place. Dave (owner of Donelys Music) is very polite and kind to anyone that walks into his shop. They have a great variety of electric guitars and acoustic guitars. Donelys music gives the best service! You wont find a better place than Donleys Music. I guarantee it!
Great staff! Great prices!
Great assistance from the employees and the Owner. Very knowledgeable about guitar picks and instruments.
Donley’s , always, customer service above par but their repair tech did not mirror Donley’s reputation AT ALL. MY 9YR old niece offered to try a repair. I will probably get the same visual “quality” result BUT WOULD SAVE $100.
They were very nice.
Very friendly.
I brought my son for one month of guitar lessons. There was a break down in their process and we never received a calendar. For this I was called a liar and unethical because I told them we weren’t coming back. The owner says everyone knows this is how they do it but obviously we didn’t know. He said I was stealing money out of the instructor’s pocket. However we paid for all lessons given. The owner couldn’t acknowledge there was the possibility of a mistake (we didn’t get a calendar explaining the policies or the schedule of lessons and the girl that took my money explained it as a month to month payment system) and demanded we pay.
If he had chosen to say That there was a possibility of a mistake and asked if we could meet in the middle without calling my integrity into question then I would have probably paid. We are talking $100 but the fact that he went straight to the only reasonable explanation was that I was lying isn’t acceptable.
We went in the month of September for a total of 3 lessons. I paid for the entire month, half off because we bought a guitar. We didn’t go to a lesson last Monday (first Monday in October or today) not today. I got a text from the instructor asking if we were coming back. I told him we were not. The instructor apologized for how the owner handled the situation and told me that we didn’t owe him anything.
We will not do business here again.
Bought a guitar from them. Took it home only to notice that a string’s intonantion was off and the neck was too straight. Took it back for them to fix it only to find that they didn’t fix it at all. Took it back a second time and asked them to fix the intonation only for them to, once again, not intonate it but merely tried to tune it. Ended up having to intonate it myself.
What does it say about a guitar store that can’t even intonate a guitar properly given two opportunities?
It’s the coolest shop on the square in Dahlonega GA.
Very cool spot with a great selection
Excellent shop, a lot of soul and rare items! Hope to return soon!
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
