Wonderful Music Academy! This was my first “music lesson” that I had ever signed up for. The Zero to Hero class was everything that it said it would be. The owners, the instructors, and the facility are the best of the best! You can truly feel their passion in wanting each student to enjoy and love learning and playing music. All around GREAT people! Highly recommend!
great school, 100% recommend
This is such an amazing school where kids with special needs feel so welcomed. Wherever I go, I don’t only want talented individuals to be able to teach my son but I want them to exhibit patience and love towards him and understand him and meet him where he is and that’s exactly what I felt here.
The people are friendly and helpful. It has the old country store feeling.
Hey–other reviewers mentioned fat, unattractive women brawling, so naturally we sought this place out. While they apparently don’t serve warm food, we ate some fresh Fritos & our bartender mixed us a strong concoction to our liking. There were no brawls, but it’s only Monday, so maybe we’ll have better luck next time! Karaoke Wednesday & Saturday. On the decor rating, we were disappointed that the giant beer is inflatable and not for consumption.
Cool place for a beer ask for Jules she is the best.
Just a basic place to go get drunk. Just don’t forget about the dress code, it’s a 4 tooth minimum…
Good time
Fun place to visit
Boring, needs live music or karaoke.nothing to attract you to want to stay longer.
I wouldn’t go In that cap hole if my life depended on it!
It’s ok for a quick beer
6. Chicago Music Store
Address: 45 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
Stopped in to sell a few old pieces from my collection and was blown away! They offered more than fair prices and I picked up an awesome little line 6 Amp in the process
. Thanks guys be seeing yall again soon!
Great #1 music store
Greatest place for me and most to get what we need and want. Owners love us as much as we love them
Moved to new spot!
Spent alot of time in the historic downtown building like a kid in a candy store before he opened the speedway store. Hell my first visit was in 1996 on my way to California. Always stop in on my travels from state to state.
Friendly and great customer service!
I wish I didn’t have to give a bad review.
I hate saying anything negative about a local music shop, especially one who normally does so well with its customers, but I had an experience with their repair shop that is disappointing enough to take my business elsewhere.
I brought in an old trombone for a dent repair on the bell side, which yes they repaired quickly and at a good price.
But in the process they tried to adjust the slide and ended up knocking it so out of alignment it couldn’t slide back into 1st position.
When I pointed it out the tech made an attempt to bend it back to its original shape but unfortunately that only made it worse. after a few weeks in the case like that it ended up stuck shut.
I when I called the shop to look for a solution the tech said it wouldn’t be as simple as bending it back to shape, and instead quoted me a price to redo the slide, which is more than a new trombone would set me back
if I brought in a broken instrument and left with a broken instrument I could just accept it as a lost cause, but the horn played fine when I brought it in and is the only one I have.
I just brought it in for a cosmetic dent repair and I did not ask for the slide to be touched at all.
now I have to find a new repair shop or a new trombone, either way, I am disappointed by the outcome.
HATED IT! Couldn’t for the life of me understand why they would move to a smaller building, until I realized it was because they were probably losing business! All thanks to an inconsiderate manager. After being rushed and insulted by management I can honestly say that I refuse to give them any opportunity of doing business with me whatsoever in the foreseeable future!
Its closed! They went out of business.
7. Picture Rocks Hardware
Address: 6315 N Sandario Rd, Tucson, AZ 85743 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
Great little hardware that serves the Picture Rocks community
Small store, but had exactly what I needed. Great customer service very helpful, friendly atmosphere.
The staff is always friendly and ready to help. For as small as the hardware store is, it has everything I’ve needed for basic repairs….and the bottles of small batch root beers and cream soda is excellent too
Easy access if you are near Picture Rocks, AZ. This is a small hardware store filled with lots of necessary stuff. The staff was terrific.
Great lite place had what I needed
Good local people will give all the help they can
Lost my ups package. No communications yet.
Expensive! Charged over 2.00 for 2 screws that were less than .20 at another place!
Everybody in this family looks the same I go to the one in Kenny and I’ll hole and it looks like the guys from out here in Picture Rocks at the hardware store I don’t know why they all look alike
8. Metro Gnome Music
Address: 4044 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
Such a wonderful store with a great selection of music instruments. The employees were so friendly and kind and were so quick to help. Definitely recommend this place for anyone in the music business or looking for records, quite the selection!
Great place. Unique. Friendly staff. Love it
Bought my first bike as an adult and the staff was very helpful! Got the last Tern Node D8 foldable bike. I felt like I asked a lot of questions, some may have been stupid, but they didn’t make me feel stupid. Thank you for your help!
Unique
I was selling an amp and a saxophone. Pretty easy to work with, at least easier than the place who referred me over. I was asked if I could be helped and was helped quickly.
Slow customer service.
I really wish I could give it to zero Stars they sold me used parts they didn’t do what they said they were going to do and they charged me for stuff that they didn’t even replace and tried to sell it as new they just left the old stuff on my bike and told me that they replaced it then they took old parts are used parts off of some other bike and charge me full price
Will Rip You Off
I thought it was a music store, but it is a bike store
Excellent selection and excellent customer service all around one of the best music stores I’ve ever been to
Excellent place. Every musician in town goes here. I love Mike Sydloski he’s an incredible guitar teacher. If you need guitar lessons I definitely recommend him!
Great shop. They’ve got some of the best gear and the employees are knowledgeable and friendly!
The store staff are great, but I was there to have a couple of issues with my bass fixed. The luthiers at Rainbow are terrific. My ’92 Carvin LB70 never played so well!
Has the sense of everyone there at one point of their lives was or is a musician, but nonetheless the service is quick to help. Always ready to answer any questions you may have. They have just about anything you may be looking for to specific parts to instruments. I love it! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable to their field/musical expertise. Check ’em out.
Good place for guitars!
I have purchased over $10k of guitars from Rainbow, so I will say the selection is great. The customer service is possibly worse than any guitar center. The employees act like you are bothering them when you inquire about inventory or you feel like they are judging your ability to buy the instrument before helping out. Since they are now only online, you can find the same selection with better pricing elsewhere. PitBull audio out of San Diego has been my new go to. Same instrument selection, better prices and much more friendly staff. Chicago Music Exchange will also be more competitive with better customer service. Interested to see how long Rainbow can stay in business with this business model and a unhelpful/unfriendly staff.
Gave them my Les Paul for repairs. Week later picked it up and they had done nothing thinking im stupid. This store assumes your dumb right off the bat. If you play their guitars for over a minute they approach you like a car salesman trying to get you to buy it or leave. They asked 2 people to stop playing while I was in there. And their prices are insane! Overpriced merch and rude staff. Also tried to get a cable for my dual rectifier. I left it there overnight, came back to get it and they lost it. 90 dollar cable! It’s been that way for 20 years.
You have to ask yourself how many chances does a place deserve before you just give up and move on? Well for me it is 3 chances.
This place has attitude for days. And it is just not worth it. Seriously man, why subject yourself to the abuse?
It is a shame since I am a professional musician who buys tons of gear year round. I guess I will stick with Vintage King, and Reverb to buy my gear. I don’t get attitude when I exchange money for gear with them.
Truly bummed about this place.
11. The Folk Shop
Address: 2525 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
Best music store in the world! The staff has always been incredible, and the gear is to die for. Their repair shop, and selection are truly world class. They’re single handedly keeping the plectrum banjo alive in AZ! I’m sad I don’t live in the state anymore, but plan to be back soon!
The Folk Shop. The Folk Shop is a creative store with good old fashion values. Quality, friendliness, respect, dignity, and more. They take good care of their store, merchandise, and customers. They have the best and widest variety of musical instruments compared too any other store ive been in. Ever. From wide selections of banjos and guitars. From mandolins, to kalimbas, bongos, flutes, xylophones and so so much more. I love this place and thr people in it. And that’s my favorite part truly. They are the nicest, most respectful employees and owners i can say ive had the pleasure of meeting. More like friends than customers, and more like instruments of passionate antiquity than the cheap-o’s you see everywhere else.
I love folk shop all way fine plesent people to attend you i been going there for about 6years thanks for all your help will be back
Extremely friendly. Good selection of many types of folk acoustic instruments and they let you play most of them. Somewhat limited array of different brands, thus 4 stars. I’m looking forward to doing more business with them.
I took a homeless guy there once and he cried when he remembered how to play bob Dylan’s “how does it feel” I had to leave at that point.
This is a nice local folk music shop. If it had more choices I’d give it 5 stars, but a great place nevertheless.
Very rude disrespectful because I was asking for a part and I didn’t have a mask and I wasn’t trying to go in the place without permission and they were just very rude very very rude and I didn’t understand I was thrown off by it. Yelling at me for no reason all I wanted was a part I didn’t even try to go into shop told her I’d wait outside because I didn’t have a mask she slams door in my face. So I go get a mask and they won’t even deal with me I was the up most respectful and didn’t deserve that. Very very rude!!! I’ll never do business with them again.
I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) “masks required even for those vaccinated.” I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read “do not knock; call to be granted entry” (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn’t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: “Hi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can’t seem to find mine here in my car….I’m here outside….do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me”? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can’t find yours—sterile ones for the taking in boxes) “If not, I don’t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back”. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says “NO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK” and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.
Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years–even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn’t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I’ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don’t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l’ll buy a guitar from Musician’s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.
Well, over the years I’ve bought, sold, and traded with Paul and really wouldn’t do so again. The last guitar I purchased there had broken tuner barrels and more important, his pricing and moods vary wildly. Certainly lots to look at, but no great shakes in terms of quality or pricing.
12. Instrumental Music Center Speedway
Address: 7063 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
They know what you don’t. Every person is very knowledgeable about every single instrument. They don’t try to up sell you. And their rent to own is worth using.
Very professional staff, instrument rental is very affordable and convenient. Recommended!
Amazing customer service….. Even when it was crazy busy.
Went for reeds. Nice variety. Clean and well organized store. Helpful and welcoming employees. Has pretty much everything in stock.
Fast friendly service
This place has horrible seating. There are no healthy items on their menu. For nutritional information, refer to the documentary quote Supersize Me
Not pleased at all. I called ahead to get instruments repaired and was told it would be two weeks. I drove to drop off instruments and asked if I could have them done a few days sooner. I was told the repair person is taking a vacation and it would be 3 weeks. But, if I wanted to pay double, I could have it done sooner. What a scam! I will never do business with this music store.
This bad review concerns Maria Ferraz, piano teacher. Our initial meeting seemed positive and I felt comfortable with her with my three year old son. To make sure he was ready to be taught piano, according to her, we set another appointment the following Saturday. This time she wasn’t as nice and patient. I was outside the room while she stayed in the room with my son. To begin, my son is three. He is a very curious boy. This particular day he wasn’t wanting to sit and learn. As I peeled through the window, I saw Maria force his little hand to play the piano. My son resisted and just sat there staring up. She then yells at him, “What are you looking at? What are you looking at?” She turned to see if I was standing there and she just nodded her head. I opened the door and grabbed my son.
I also want to point out that she has a lot of pictures, posters, just stuff in her tiny room enough to distract anyone much more a three year old. Also, if she doesn’t have the patience it takes to teach a three year old, then you shouldn’t advertise that you do. And lastly, you have no right to yell at my son or any child who doesn’t have the ability to fully comprehend what is happening, what you are asking, or able to express his emotions with proper vocabulary to answer your ridiculous questions!
Beware of this woman and always keep an eye on your child when you are not in the room.
I’m not sure what this store is doing but I’m pretty sure it is illegal. I did a Google search for Metronome Music and when I clicked on the link this store came up. I don’t like being misled or deceived and I will never take my business here. Shame on you
13. Chicago Music Store
Address: 5646 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
There’s always great staff to take care of my kids’ needs when it comes to their cellos! Whether it’s this store or the downtown location, every employee has been kind, courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable!
I love this shop! Everyone is friendly, great gear, great prices. Recently took my strat in for a set up and its like I have a brand new guitar. Plus, Ryan even did the little extra things at no extra cost. Highly recommended.
Large selection of guitars, amps, effects, strings and picks.
I talked to jim the repair guy and he was super helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about.
Everyone was nice wish they would have returned the product I purchased tho.
Great service, Mark and his team were really helpful!
Worst Music Store in Tucson. Don’t ever buy from them.
The guitar technician is one of the worst I’ve encountered in the many years I’ve been playing guitar. He was VERY rough with a 1300 dollar guitar. In his haste and carelessness he damaged a flamed maple top. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “that is what happens when you work on a guitar”. I can’t imagine the damage he creates behind customer’s backs. His methods of examination and his repair knowledge was at a staggering incompetent level. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this technician. Don’t know his name. Just best to stay clear from any tech from the store on speedway.
This a terrible place to rent from. The guy in charge is sleazy and pushy.
14. DRMX Studios
Address: 6141 W Saddle Horn Cir, Tucson, AZ 85743 , Picture Rocks , Arizona , United States
I have been recording with DRMX Studios for 6 years now, and I keep coming back!!! The vibes are always positive and the creative energy is perfect! From writing verses and hooks to hours of recording, this studio has everything! Would recommend to any musician.
This is THE PLACE to go. Just an all around good atmosphere and experience. Jeff is a really nice, knowledgeable guy whatever genre. I could not be happier with the results either, took my project to the next level.
We had an extremely great experience and our daughter had a blast in the studio! The whole environment was comfortable and made us feel very welcomed and at the same time professional. We were very pleased with the final product. Jeff is very knowledgeable and was easy to work with. We highly recommend using DRMX Studios.
Thanks Jeff and look forward to the next project…
