Believe that you can purchase the most amazing classical guitars at very low prices. I got the Hauser replica. It is on par with my Paulino Bernabe M30. Hard to compare because it’s spruce vs cedar, but it’s definitely the same level of quality guitar. I’m fascinated now in the ziricote double top. Amazing guitars! Photo is me and my wife. Real people, real customers!
I took a chance and ordered an expensive Goyette guitar. The instrument I received was not as finely constructed as I had hoped, but customer service was excellent and a replacement was sent out right away. Regardless of the flaws I saw in the first model, it did sound quite nice and Goyette was very reasonable and generous about making everything right.
this was not a guitar store my daughter is not happy with me right now, do not go
Residence, not store.
Don’t believe it
3. Encore Music Center
Address: 725 High St, Auburn, CA 95603 , Placer County , California , United States
Quintessential music store with musical masters supplying symphonic components
Very helpful
Small store, the guy is very helpful and knowledgeable about guitars. I’m docking the rating one star because the selection of guitars is pretty limited. The only acoustic guitars in the store were Yamahas and Taylor’s (with some off brand ones too).
Very helpful. Good store. Still, nobody’s perfect.
Lots of instruments
Needed the nut replaced on my bass and they suggested glueing the nut and that turned out better but I’m now having the nut replaced as I wanted in the beginning due to it still having a crack in it and now there is glue everywhere. Also had him do a light setup and when I got the bass back the truss rod what so tight that I almost could not adjust it and all the strings rattled. They may have costed me a neck.
I went here twice. I did not have a great experience the first time, being made to feel as though I wasn’t good enough to shop here, but decided to give it a second chance instead of supporting Amazon. A price I was quoted on my first visit mysteriously increased by over $10 on my second visit and with no price tags on items, the two men working there verbally discussed the price which continued to increase in front of me. Because I had left myself in a bind without enough time to order from Amazon, I paid their increased price but I will never support this store again.
Fantastic local music shop. Solid prices, helpful people, friendly environment and great selection
Dalton was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and guided us well about our child’s trumpet. In general, we love the reasonable instrument rental cost and quality of the instruments.
Will recommend the store to others.
Has amazing lessons from really nice and good teachers. Also sells a variety of instruments
Friendly staff and very helpful.
I rented a used violin for my son from the shop. They said the price was $199. The rental was $35 per month. after two months if you want to own the violin then they said they would deduct the rental amount from the original price. But when we want to buy the used violin they said the price is $299 which is hell more than a new violin. So would recommend not to rent or buy anything from this store.
A true community gem dedicated to the needs of our local community of musicians!
Tiny little shop. Nice owner though. Didn’t get much more than a tuner. Can’t really judge more.
Real nice hometown music store
I previously gave Soundcheck a great review but now I am not so sure. Yes, they guys are great there. But watch out for their prices. I was in a hurry last week and needed some basic acoustic strings. They charged me over $16. for the set and I didn’t think twice. But when I got home I realized they really should have been a lot les.
The MSRP on those strings is $6.99 Same price online or at most of the other local guitar shops.
So they charged me well over double for the same strings. I really want to support local business…but I am done with Sondcheck.
They answered all of my questions and I am currently working on trading instruments with them! Amazing customer service and a calming atmosphere. I reccomend this business to anyone looking to buy a new or used instrument or instrument parts.
Great local music store, helpful staff , lessons and a neighborhood atmosphere.
Foggy mountain is a good little mom & pop music store they have all your needs and wants and if the don’t they can order it , they give back to the community and I’m a firm believer that you should buy where you live so if I have musical needs I always start at Foggy Mountain I like the employees and the owners are good people . Worthy of a stop in and I’m sure you’ll return over and over
Best knowledgeable music store around gv they will even let you hookup and play a toon to tryout equipment they offer lessons and have a friendly helpful staff looking to fitt your specific needs and interests
A nice selection of instruments for the space, though the prices are on the high end.
With so much inventory, don’t expect them to have a handle on what they have in stock, especially if it’s parts or pieces or it isn’t on the floor.
Over priced
Owners are rude
Drove there on Sunday, as Google said they were open. They were not.

A Great helpful staff and a warm atmosphere was so nice and such an awesome addition to this small community. A++
This place is the cats pajamas, for real. No cap
I have never been in the store myself I wish I had that day It was a few weeks back It was a Sat they were doing a grand opening party or something and I had just pulled into the gas station and as I got out of my truck I heard this voice start singing it was beautiful she was singing BOBBY MCGEE and I just stood there in aww and as I was leaving I drove out that direction and just before i could there to see who she was that was singing the next person came up and started singing they were doing karaoke and having a bbq and since that day i cant stop thinking about who was singing that day i wish i would of went in the store that day maybe there is a chance she may read this review or some who knows please forward the msg to her thank you in advance
Great guys over there I’m a beginner and went in there looking for an affordable acoustic guitar they really helped me out not knowing to much abt guitars and helped me pick a good one still on the lower end price wise I will definitely be back and they are really nice and funny guys
This store is a guitar players dream. It’s smaller, but has no junk. Even the less expensive entry level guitars are solid. The owner has managed to jam more than a dozen PRS, Ernie Ball music man guitars and many others into the space.
Even the cables and straps are top-of-the-line. No junk amps either, mainly Orange and PRS and Line 6– all of which are solid.
The owner and the other gentleman in the shop were super friendly also. The owner did wince a little when I bought the Music Man Stingray out from under him. (This guitar is beautiful.)
This shop is worth the drive for those of us in Nor Cal and deserves to be supported. When we no longer have a local music shop and can only buy things online, we’ll regret it. Shop locally; give this place a shot.
Friendly owner/staff. Great selection of instruments and accessories.
Their music selection was a bit small but they had everything I needed at a very reasonable cost.
The line was crazy long and they were extremely under staffed.
Visited the shop for a concert. Good location, parking was super easy to get close to store. Lots of instruments, music books, accessories. I’d go again.
Some awesome musical instruments with some decent prices to go alone with them! Great place for ukuleles too!
Juan Ortiz is the most helpful guitar sales person on the planet. Very beautiful guitar shop.
I went to the Strum Shop where I was greeted by Dr. Dan, a very nice man who seems knowledgeable about acoustic instruments. he was super helpful and told me my guitar would be done in 2 days. I got it back the next day. The work was pretty good and the string rattle was fixed but I discovered a couple weeks later he had made a new slot for the high E string on the nut (which I didn’t ask for) and as a result the strings are now not evenly spaced. I have to get a new nut put on now which is disappointing.
He did put a new pickup on for a fair price which works great and I appreciate that! It’s a very nice guitar shop run by very nice folks. I’m sure I’ll go back at some point but I’m a little bummed about having to get a new nut put on as a result of the initial work.
It have discount mercendise too .
High Prices
I originally came in to get a new nut cut for my Gibson SG. The repair took longer and cost more than originally advertised, and the repair man left several issues that I had to fix myself (buzzing on A and low E, new tuning problems due to roughness of nut slots, high action, used strings other than the ones I’d left for him and specifically asked for him to use). Fortunately, however, when I brought this up with the shop, out of the $50 that I was charged, I was refunded $40 labor cost. (Still on the hook for $10 though).
EDIT: The manager for the Strum Shop started hassling me over text message after I posted this review. LOL.
Went in and there was a class going on with 20+ people crammed into a tiny space, not one of them wearing a mask. Only one other person in the entire store had one on, none of the staff. Fully 1/3rd of Sac Co. is completely unvaccinated. I’m immune compromised [along with some 7,000,000 other American citizens] & disabled. The ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM of decency and community protection is apparently an outrageous expectation. They also had some absurd overpricing. I vastly prefer non-corporate local stores, but they can F right off if they’re not going to do even the simplest, most pitifully minor actions to do their part in not further spreading a wildly uncontrolled global pandemic that has killed nearly a million U.S. humans, and is far from over. Still averaging a quarter million cases a day, and over 2,000 deaths [more than any time since last winter, still]. They don’t even REQUEST that people wear some kind of face covering. Reprehensible madness, and unless this changes I will not support or recommend them to my musician friends. Please be better, nobody should be forced to exclude themselves from society JUST because of laziness or ignorance and non-measures that throw disabled folks under the bus.
They lost my instrument and won’t return my calls. I brought an instrument in for repairs, they gave to their vendor, I talked with the vendor and he said it would be done in two weeks. After a month with no word I started calling, and they have ignored all messages I’ve left.
Great place to shop and find music equipment and other recording capabilities also a great place to sell some of the music equipment you have that you no longer need they purchase it back from you fair prices clean place lots of fun stuff to look at definitely recommended for everybody
Awesome store and lessons
Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming at this location. Weekends and Holidays are very busy. I tend to go during the week for less traffic and a more personalized store experience.
Great service
I got my 13 year old son guitar lessons here and he really enjoys working with his instructor Cody. My only complaint is the cost of the guitar lessons. They seem to be a bit on the high side @ $60 an hour.
It’s nostalgic whenever I walk into a Guitar Center. It’s my childhood brought to life. I like coming here once in a blue moon to check out the new instruments. Staff are nice, although very busy, they’re helpful.
Price marked on the guitar we wanted was wrong. The cashier then took another 5 minutes to look and not find anything comparable. Most of the staff ignored my son and I.
If I could give them less, I would! This store is horrible. The whole place is dirty, the drum kits are junk, the guitar tuning guy was very unhelpful, and most of the keyboards weren’t working. What a disappointment!
The drum section was in shambles. More messy than my garage, and thats saying alot. The selection wasnt even very good either. Very disappointing.
