Bought a delightful, beautiful ukulele from this quaint shop located in the owner’s home. Sandy was so helpful! She shipped it well packaged. Great communication. Highly recommend!!
Just purchased a beautiful gift from Joval. She was so knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Great shopping experience!
First day in Lihue off the cruise ship and we found this hidden gem in a Google search. The shop owner was so nice and informative. She let us browse multiple ukuleles and shared some excellent knowledge about them as well as about tikis and other items in the shop as well. After our purchase she offered to drop us to the harbour too. Amazing lady, amazing shop and a wonderful first experience in Hawai’i. That they also deliver worldwide is the icing on the cake!
Ukulele picks sold here
Lady here explained how the stickers work here, never had that kind of nice service keep being you
So weird. You end up in their garage mixed up with trinkets souvenirs. I was not a fan. It was hard to decide if the ‘ukulele or other high valued things were authentic. On a positive the family is all very sweet.

Amazing experience buying my first ukulele. Toured several stores in the area and this was by far the next experience. The gentlemen who sold me the Kama ukulele designed them and it was clear a lot of thought and care went into this. I was searching for worthy ukulele to buy in Hawaii and this was definitely the place to buy it.
Right from the warm Aloha greeting we received from Dee when my grandson and I entered the store to Sam sharing his amazing product knowledge and talents with No pressure what so ever. We actually returned the next day and purchased a ukulele. Along the way had a great conversation with repair person Joe.
The ukulele sounds almost as good in Canada but everything is better in Kauai. Mahalo, Dayton and grandpa Jack
Dealt with Joe, the owners dad. Nice and chatty guy. Gave us a great deal on a couple of nice Uke’s as a memento for our time on Kauai. Go see him!
Great and knowledgeable sales folks. Be careful about the “Larry’s Custom” cases. Not good! Barely good enough to bring back on the plane. Need a case made by the manufacturer to protect your ukulele long term. BTW who sells Kamka Ukuleles without a case? For the money they charge it should always come with a case from the manufacturer. Too bad I was in a hurry. Everyone was in hurry that day.
I wanted to like this shop. Plenty of expensive ukuleles on the wall. Sam may be friendly but I guess he was busy. Jay greeted me and is very into himself. He was selling Kamoa ukes made on Kauai at high prices. He only had a few minutes to chat as he had to ship ukes out. These might be equivalent to Kala and lots of used ones on eBay. I guess if you want one made in Hawaii, this would qualify. Shop not so friendly for me.
My only review is due to the fact that they are actually closed weekends in a resort area. Makes no sense. Would have bought one but alas…no deal.
6. Kamoa Store Kauaʻi, Hawai‘i
Address: 4-1310 Kuhio Hwy, Kapaʻa, HI 96746 , Puhi , Hawaii , United States
We were completely amazed at the experience of coming here. Not only was it the coolest Uke buying experience we have ever had but it was an educational experience as well. The quality of the Ukes was absolutely the best and they stand behind all their Ukes like no other place I’ve seen. We always buy our instruments from mom and pop stores but this is the ultimate home town experience. Free lessons and customer service that is beyond compare. Plus a superb selection of everything. We loved it and there is no reason to look elsewhere on the island. Just go here and you won’t regret it.
I’m compelled to write about my experience with this company. I had bought a used Kamoa E3-GC Grand Concert ukulele. After a few months I began to notice a few issues. I reached out to Kamoa inquiring about a warranty and Sam responded with a gracious, customer service attitude. As the 2nd owner there wasn’t a warranty but Sam said he would do what he could do to help. I live in LA and by chance was taking a cruise to Hawaii. Sam said to bring the instrument with me and he would repair it. I did. At the Kamoa shop in Kapaa I was warmly greeted by Sam along with his Mother and Father. He promised to do his best to repair my ukulele and would get back to about the costs. I left their shop feeling that I was in good hands. Fast forward to today when I received my repaired ukulele FedEx’d, at no charge, to my home. Opening the box I almost thought I’d been sent a new instrument. The repairs were that good. Did I mention that they never asked for a dime? That’s customer service to the 10th degree. If you are in the market for an exceptionally well-crafted ukulele, made by a stellar Hawaiian family owned company that stands behind their work, look no further than Kamoa. You’ll never be disappointed.
Sammy has a broad knowledge of the ukulele (and black pearls). You can’t go wrong picking up a uke from here.
Was excited to stop by and had purchased a ukulele for the 1st time at Kamaka in Honolulu 2 yrs prior. I let the owner know I was an amateur, and as I played, he assumed I’d learned my strumming pattern on YouTube…but I listen to the music I like and interpret as an artist. He told me about the free lessons he offers. I said, “Let me try playing this song and you can tell me what to improve.” He says, “I don’t need to hear it; I can tell you right now.” I was enjoying playing and felt a bit disappointed. But I listened as he told me I was playing much too harshly, audiences do not like that, compared it to fingernails on a chalkboard, and told me as my audience it was basically terrible for him to listen to. I replied that he is like 2 feet away. I also agreed I could try softening my strumming, but his ex.of very soft, slow strumming did not fit the style of the song I was going for. I explained that, and he then told me that his dad had to leave the room b/c of my harsh playing. I said, “If he needs to leave that is his opinion and doesn’t offend me”(although it did make me feel bad!) I teach piano students and can’t imagine saying my husband had to leave the room b/c of the way they were playing the piano!! I guess there’s a reason the lessons are free! He could’ve said something positive and nicely asked, “What if you tried softening your strumming a bit?” I would’ve felt and responded totally differently. I was happy to take feedback but was there also for the enjoyment of trying out the instruments. This quickly dissipated through the interaction. He needs to work on his approach with a potential customer! I would never want to take lessons here, let alone purchase an instrument. Side note:, instead of starting out by explaining all the info about the instruments and knowledge, maybe could try asking what I’m looking for in an instrument. I highly recommend Kamaka Hawai’i, Inc. in Honolulu, because they treated me very kindly and respectfully.
*Response: His answer is unnecessarily scathing and of course refuses to take any responsibility or acknowledge my honest experience.
A. Don’t talk about my daughter; barely worth replying to; she was not crying because she wanted to try a ukulele. Has cried on and off during our trip when tired, and we both try to console her. Sad he’s even trying to bring up parenting to throw in our faces! Wow…no we were not looking for ukulele lessons for her but thanks for the offer. I told her about egg rolls…
B. There was 1 lady worker in the room who was quiet, and she was actually grooving a little after he walked out for a bit ;), & maybe 1-2 other people milling around, so I’d hardly say I was “entertaining” the store. As any musician can understand, we enjoy going in to a music store and trying out instruments for learning and enjoyment..
C. He has no understanding or care about the frustration that I’m expressing here. I feel like he’s not used to sharing knowledge then listening to a slightly different response. He drives his point home at the expense of a person’s feelings. He wants to paint me as an obnoxious person who was there to brag on my talents and annoy everyone, though I berated my skills sev. times, then he says all these ppl walked out who weren’t even there. Keep in mind this was a short episode: I was talking with him, trying to figure out some chords, playing a couple short songs in a virtually empty store, until my terrible playing completely emptied it?
D. This was not an official “lesson” to my knowledge. I was there to try out instruments and be free to do so /ask for input
E. I took his advice by playing a song again more quietly, to which he said it was much better, so again his story is not adding up. Also, at that point, I was the one who showed myself to the door!
F. I was told this is common behavior for store owners/employees on the island, but we did have some nice experiences! I’m sure others have enjoyed this store, but I did not, and feel it is worthwhile to share my experience, even if it means I’m berated vs. validated once again in return.

Ron is so helpful. The instruments are beautifully made. And they sound great.
We spent last week in Kauai and booked two lessons with Ron while we were there. It was the best time my brother-in-law and I could have spent learning finger-picking with a goal of playing Slack Key.
Ron is amazing. A very patient teacher who loves Hawaiian style guitar and teaches that love and respect to each student.
We will book with him every day on future visits to Kauai!
Great little shop. Ron was super helpful, informative and let me try multiple different ukuleles
Lots of ukelele stuff (naturally) but a lot of accessories that I have never seen before like jelly caps for your fingers so if you’re a beginner you’re fingers won’t hurt as much. A very vast selection of ukeleles and you’re even able to take lessons!
The clerk was not very friendly. We did end up getting a UKE but from another place. Nice selection of instruments.
I found this place to be hard to shop at. Due to Covid there are plastic screens up almost all along the counter. The workers while trying to helpful left me feeling very defeated. They do give good guidance. Make sure it is your first stop in your ‘ukulele shopping or you may find what they say contradicting what others say.
Was looking for a ukulele while in Hawaii, and thought this was a good place to try. Sadly, the staff was rude and literally all of the products are behind the counters so when the staff isn’t being helpful… good luck seeing if the ones you like feel or play nicely. On top of that, the store is tiny. Many better I Keller and music stores on Kauai that I’ve found after stopping here. Nicer people, better prices, and you can actually try a few chords without being hassled. Save your time, these people don’t want your money.
The woman I spoke with was very kind and helpful, however the gentleman there was rude and dismissive. After making a purchase I was told to leave the store. I won’t be doing any more business here.
8. Bandwagon Music Center Lihue
Address: 3-3100 Kuhio Hwy c12, Lihue, HI 96766 , Puhi , Hawaii , United States
An awesome chance for kids of all ages to learn how to make music. The staff is wonderful and the kids get to make new friends. A total 5 stars!!!!!!!
This place is filthy, the bathrooms has smelled like urine for both the old and new buildings they have moved in. The new building they have moved in, in Kukui Grove shopping center smells like urine, that has been attempted to be covered up by a freshener.
The manager of this program, Jeremy Hartshorn, can be nice at first but is an ironic person. He does not have things together and isn’t always ready. In one of the performancees, he tries to teach a kid to do a song while they are already performing. He would blame everyone including his daughter except himself, as if young kids would know what they’re supposed to do. His daughter as well can be disrespectful and makes my child uncomfortable. My child has been quiet, but whenever he is asked to come for band rehearsals, they do not rehearse and is a waste of time and money. They will help you at first until you are only decent. This place is okay for learning if you are a complete beginner but if you are experienced, this is useless. I have paid for the whole year but my child is quitting Bandwagon once the payment is done.
I highly recommend to NOT go to this program. It is a waste of everything. Like I said they might help a bit, but once you are decent and trying to quit due to the poor music education, they give you ultimatums.

This store and the employees have my support…awesome attitude and meaning behind the products they sell…highly recommend going in and talking with them and buying something meaningful to you
The vibes at this shop are immaculate. So much so that when I was having a bad day, simply visiting the shop—and interacting with the workers there—managed to completely uplift my mood for the rest of the day.
I had the best experience there. Excellent customer service. One of the guys working there even offered to tune the cheap ukulele I was carrying around. I bought a few things there too that I definitely don’t regret buying. I highly recommend going to this shop.
Beautiful and intentional store, I love stopping in here!
10. Dubb City Productions LLC
Address: 3133 Oihana St, Lihue, HI 96766 , Puhi , Hawaii , United States
Ariki Foster at Dubb City Productions is the premiere music producer on the island of Kauaʻi, his passion for creating music (of all genres) is evidente not only by his wealth of knowledge and technical ability but by his abundant love for music itself. His studio is a conducive environment for recording with state of the art equipment and ample space to record. Mahalo Ariki for all your help with our project, we couldn’t have done it without you!
I loved working with Ariki at Dubb City Productions! The studio was very comfortable and it felt easy to get into the music. Ariki was friendly and easy-going and took the nervousness out of recording. I’ll definitely book sessions there again.
I’ve used Dubb City Productions for numerous music recording projects. Ariki has always blown me away with his creativity and talent in the recording studio. I’ve searched high and low for people with his talent on Kauai. And he’s just fun to work with. Definitely recommend Dubb City productions for all your recording needs!
Kaycee’s talent made the moments in our wedding so incredibly special. She plays so beautifully; perfect tempo, perfect sound. Impeccable skill. I’m forever grateful for her contribution on our significant day.
Kaycee played solo at our wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. She exceeded all expectations helping us decide on music and accommodating our needs. She plays beautifully, she is very professional and we highly recommend her!
Kaycee was the violinist for my wedding in Kauai, and she did not disappoint! She was amazing during our ceremony and cocktail hour, even with the rain. And she was such a pleasure to work with beforehand, when we were picking songs. Would highly recommend her! Thanks Kaycee!
12. Beachrail Lines
Address: 3501 Rice St #1002, Lihue, HI 96766 , Puhi , Hawaii , United States
Very nice shop all the way around! They have one of the absolute best VW model selections I have seen in ages. Also tho owners wife who waited on us was a true pleasure. My wife stumbled in the courtyard and hit her head and the owners wife came out of the store and did everything she could to make sure we were ok!
Great store found lots of great stuff there
Really fun train shop with so many things I wanted to bring home.
The toy store practically every boy dreamed about. Wonderful place.
Rude. Only toy store that is not kid friendly.
13. Redbox
Address: 4454 Nuhou St, Lihue, HI 96766 , Puhi , Hawaii , United States
Our favorite thrift shop on Kauai! Great items at great prices. Friendly and clean shop.
Best clothes on Kauai at great prices and every dime goes to the Humane Society. They have clothes for the whole family plus pet supplies, kitchen and home. Lots of art and even jewelry!
Nice thrift store. Found souvenir Hawaiian clothing really inexpensively.
Okay selection but I did find a cute skirt. Love the cause. There is another thrift store nearby that does not show up on google maps “Kathleen’s Thrift Store” that also has some quality items.
It was a small store but I always appreciate the work they do!
I think I got enough Hawaiian shirts for the rest of my life they will keep me close to the joy I experienced
Lots of junk stuff. Place is a mess. Way overpriced when compared to other thrift stores here and elsewhere.
Extremely rude lady who runs this place. Turned clothes away from someone i know. And then was extremely rude about taking my clothes. Disgusting lady, get a new job
So disappointed, the listing for the stores that they open at 10 a.m. We arrived at 11 a.m. opened the door and the staff became upset with us and told us they weren’t open yet. When we came back, I was told all the shirts were $2 and then charged $4.50 at the counter. Brought one of my shirts home and it had a huge hole in it. Staff was extremely impolite. At one point in the back of the store the rack was falling down and I called out while holding onto the rack to see if any staff in the backroom could help. There were four people in the back room all talking. When I called out I heard them pause in their conversation then ignore me and continue talking. I continued to callnout for a couple minutes, until finally a patron of the store said very nicely ” I can help you”. We then pulled the rack back on to it’s holder so that all of the shirts didn’t fall off. Kind of felt like I should have left it all to fall to the floor. I was able to find a decent swimsuit and a couple collectibles. If you ignore the staff and avoid damaged clothing, you may actually get something decent, but don’t expect any customer service at all.
