Grant is incredible! Super friendly, with tons of experience and totally fair pricing for a small shop
I brought my Ibanez in for a little work and was very impressed with Grant’s knowledge & professionalism. Right off the rip he told me that if I was sticking around that he would not only allow me to watch, but teach me how to do what needed to be done. We had an excellent conversation about our musical influences and the wonderful state of California. Grant is a personable guy and does top quality work for a solid price. I couldn’t recommend a tech higher.
Grant is very friendly and seems to know his guitars. Cool little place with all the tools needed for custom repairs.

Has pretty good stock of musical gear. although ot has chaned over the years obviously due to being bought out by Haight Ashbury, changing musical climate, and Covid).) Very polite staff.
Best bass selection in the Bay Area. I drove over the hill from Santa Cruz and bought a Bergantino amp. The best bass amp I’ve ever owned! The guys were friendly and helpful.
Very nice selection of bass gear.
I tried going in a few weeks ago, absolutely insane they still require a mask to go in, they had the entrance blocked off with a table and a sign.
Good
A totally legit local music shop selling name brand instruments as well as higher-end and vintage gears. There is a room full of just amps. Staff is generally very helpful and would let you try things out. Be careful reaching up for guitars and gears since it’s a small space. Always ask for help unless you want to drop something and end up paying for it.
Tried to shop here but the entrance was barricaded with a table, alcohol gel, and a sign saying that masks were required to enter.
It’s late August 2022 and covid is as much past history as it likely ever will be. Get a grip or go out of business. Turning potential customers away at this point is crazy.
I just experience the worst service, something that was going so good, ended up leaving the me (customer) unpleasant and dissatisfied. Im in need of a power supply for a unit which i purchased from Gelb music store about 6 years back. In fact it would’ve been my third time getting an adapter here. I saw online that they have it stock, i drove from Napa to redwood city due to familiarity. Multiple staff tried to help find an adapter that works. One older staff insist to take over. He found one unboxed among spared ones without a price tag. The older staff therefore told another staff to charge me(customer) $25 for that old charger.. (let it be known, newer charger/ adapters are between $10 and $20)
How do you come up with that figure?
Oh the black man has to pay more huh?
Omdb they’ll never have my business again.
The older staff viciously took back the adapter and said i was assisting his time. Thought you were working?..
Act as though your doing them a favor by comming to their store .drum shop clutterd and sales person un interested in helping rather be looking on lap top then doing much of anything else certaianly not cleaning or organizing i used to go to the old drum shop in the 80s cool vibe then .theres a reason sweet water is killin brick n mortar stores

Quick and easy to grab a bunch of piano sheet music.
Very helpful with strings and things. We also take lessons here with Teacher Pierre, whom we recommend highly!!!
I cannot recommend Clock Tower Music enough for instruments, books, accessories, anything you might need for your musical journey. I am a local piano and cello instructor and I get all of my materials from Clock Tower Music. They really care about their customers. There aren’t many places left that have this level of customer service and quality. Susan and Brian are extremely helpful, especially during such a trying time. Thank you Clock Tower Music!
5. Haight Ashbury Music Center
Address: 728 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94063 , Redwood Shores , California , United States
I was unable to leave feedback on Reverb so I decided to leave a review here. Haight Ashbury Music took the time to check their inventory and send me photos of the bass I was interested in to see if the top on it lived up to what I was expecting. While I unfortunately did not go through with the purchase on the bass because I was looking for something different from what they had available, the fact that they took the time to do that for me and to respond to me on Reverb was above and beyond what many shops would do, especially on a holiday weekend where most shops are closed for Memorial Day. Great experience, and hopefully I will be buying something from them in the future.
I bought a bass about 2 weeks ago. They were very helpful, allowed me all the time I needed to play around and make a decision, then carefully removed stickers and cleaned it up nicely before handing it over. I’ll go back here when I’m ready to buy a new amp.
Exelente
I think this is one of the best music stores in town. Good service, they are really friendly every time I go in, and always seem to have all the really cool stuff you can’t find at chain stores.
Last time I was here they were going out of business. I tried to make them a deal on a box of records they had. Needless to say they would not budge and they kind if overcharged me on the value of these records.
My brother and I found the store by accident while visiting San Francisco. The staff was kind giving us freedom to try the instruments, explore the store and its stuff, and was very helpful to my brother giving advice about keyboards and stuff.
Vastly overpriced and rude. Tried to call and get prices and they said they don’t have time to help me. Good riddance.
Terrible prices and worse service.
Just got kicked out of this place for playing music in here

Super helpful staff. They really know their stuff and they bent over backwards to solve a small issue for me.
I got to Play MUSiC ….Go GA Go we still love you
The store has all sorts of musical instrument choices and the staff are very helpful.
Good people working there…. ~10~
Not a bad store. Had lot of options and the staff I spoke to were nice too.
The guitars is nice.
Bought a lot of items including iLoud speaker and the staff that processed my item was very friendly, but the next day as I was trying to return one item which was a music book for reason that I selected the wrong book, I was immediately greeted by one of the staff and informed me that I cannot return the book because it’s copyrighted, he didn’t even want to hear my reason and making me feel that I did something to the book like scan it or something. If they only inspected the book, if it was scanned, there would be no evidence that it was even opened. Not going back to this store location because of the one very rude staff.
So I visited this Guitar Center with the inention of trading up my instrument. Prior to me arriving here I called another guitar Center to value my trade in and it was not much. I figured if I purchased the instrument I wanted that the value of the one I wanted to trade in would at least cover the tax, so to me it was worth it. So when the gentleman asked me if I needed assistance at the San Mateo guitar center, I told him what my intention was and right away he was very discouraging. He told me since the item that I wanted was already on sale, I would not get any more discounts off it. I already knew that. And then he told me that the item I was trying to trade in would not be worth much at all. I already knew this coming into this situation, I figured at least it would be a win for me because I got rid of the instrument, and I wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of trying to sell it. This sales person didn’t give me any options and I felt brushed off. I too am in sales and I felt that he did not want to assist. Maybe in his eyes, his intentions may be coming from a good place, but my perception as a customer was not positive. I would have appreciated a more welcoming approach with a much kinder delivery with an explanation of my options. Instead he was assumptive and told me that since the item I wanted was already on sale, I was not going to get any more discounts off of it. Again, I already knew that, but I did not want to explain to him because I already knew that I did not want to do business with him or this particular store. I will never come back to this particular location, I would rather go to Emeryville where I bought this particular instrument a few years ago because they were much friendlier, or I would even endure going into the city to visit that location.
Elena Orduyan’s Piano School is the most incredible environment for learning piano at a young age.
As a constantly-studying musician and instructor, I can vouch that her method is as fun as it is incredibly effective, and the fact that materials are included in the price of the lesson is beyond belief. All of her personal students are so lucky, and she takes amazing care of her teachers, which is so apparent by how uplifting and encouraging the lessons are.
Whether your child is casually interested in beginning piano or has a true passion for the instrument and can’t learn enough, this is *the* perfect music studio for young musicians.
We heard about Elena from a friend who also sent their kids here. My 7 year old has been learning piano with Elena for about 2 years since then. I really appreciate how patient Elena is to young kids. My son has enjoyed his lesson tremendously and has grown a lot since then.
Elena has a great selection of songs that are not only age and level appropriate but also sound beautiful. She takes her time to teach him music theory, improve his technique and most importantly build up his love for music. We don’t have to ask him practice piano at home, but he’d rather play piano to us because he’s so excited to show us his new songs, or to show us his progress, which is a beautiful thing to see. He doesn’t just learn piano at Elena, I can also see him learning how to be focused, patient, how to deal with frustration when he can’t play certain part of a song well, how to not give up, how to keep showing up and practicing. I can’t put into words how much we appreciate Elena for teaching him all of that. Thank you so much, Elena!

Anneliese combines teaching skill with friendly, supportive coaching–she makes piano FUN for our daughter, who then puts forth greater effort (and we are seeing significant progress). Highly recommended!
Anneliese has been my daughter’s piano and voice teacher for 2 1/2 years. My daughter absolutely loves her class and looks forward to it every week, whether in-person or online. Anneliese is very patient, engaging, and dedicated to teaching. She makes learning a lot of fun through creative games and activities. She also helps my daughter perfect her skills for her school musical performance and teaches her to try musical composition from a young age. I would highly recommend her.
Our 5 year old daughter has been learning piano with Anneliese for over 7 months now and she loves it. She looks forward to going to class every week and has nothing but great things to say about Anneliese. We highly recommend her.
