Love this store and the staff! Outstanding service always
Very nicely supplied shop. Lots of great glass pieces, a lot of wrapper options, hookah, CBD, Delta 8. Owner is knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Good location with parking lot. Definitely recommend.
Would not recommend, do not waste your tim coming here. I asked about the glass pieces prices being expensive compared to the local area and was told to buy from China instead with a snotty attitude. Great display of customer service
This store charged me $65 for a Yocan Loki. When I called back a week later inquiring about the Yocan Orbit, the owner said they don’t have the Yocan Orbit, but they have the Yocan Loki for $45. Come here if you want to get ripped off.
Bought a broken urb disposable and was told that I couldnt exchange it and that I had to pay $60 to get another one
5. Evolution Music Rock Academy
Address: 417 Ogden Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
I dealt with the Downers Grove location. Their email communication was timely and straight to the point and the in-store experience was easy, quick, all good
No negatives
Positive experience all the way
Great local music shop with a wide variety of options and fantastic deals when it comes to selling/trading in gear! Would highly recommend visiting!
I had a great buying experience with Evolution Music, through Reverb.com. The product didn’t work out for me, but Evolution was terrific about it; promptly responded to my inquiries and gave me a timely refund. I will be happy to purchase from them, again; and recommend them to others.

Good place to hear good up & coming young bands play.
Dan (the manager) is a solid guy and the store does good, honest work. Great to have these guys around in the western suburbs.
Great place to see a concert. Not a great place to buy an overpriced guitar
Cannot speak on this business as a store but as a music venue it was a very difficult and miserable experience as a band and we did not enjoy playing here – got the short end of the stick in many ways
SELLER BEWARE!! The staff, who although may seem cool, are lowball artists to say the least. I sold an amo to them for what i thought was the best price i could get. $30 bucks.. They told me it was only worth 60 dollars max. When i came back in to sell some more gear (which they practically robbed me for), i saw the exact amp i sold them (only worth $60) for 149.99!! I was apalled! Ill never go back there again.. THATS A FACT…
6. Dr Woods Guitar Emporium
Address: 304 Lincoln Ave, Fox River Grove, IL 60021 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
Very reasonable people, prices are great! Especially when getting my Guitar intonation done!
Definitely prefer going to this place than Guitar Center any day!
In my opinion, and from experience dealing with guitar shops, they are the fairest and friendliest. They don’t up sell you and they are passionate about what they do. I drive 30 minutes to their shop, worth it, plus a decent guitar selection if your looking for a new one.
Have had an awesome experience for gutair lessons in Mchenry County. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The pricing is very reasonable. 5 stars!
Buddy is an expert musician. His advice, insights, and customer service are worth the visit. I support this local shop because they offer value that I can’t get from the web or a large chain.
Very friendly, asked for advice on a project gave great direction. I will definitly come back to give them my business.
A very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A relaxed atmosphere with some really great looking guitars.
I called 45 minutes before they closed and was there about 25 to 30 minutes before they closed to get a guitar pick the lady with a dog looked at me walking out locked the door and got into her car and left mind you there was still about like I said 25 to 30 minutes left so if you’re gonna close at 8:30 put it on your page on Google that closing is at 8:30 and I’m still gonna buy a pick tomorrow because you’re the closest but that will probably be the last time I’m there and I will be returning the saxophone either Friday or the third
Its a long story. In the end it was a bad experience.
I think if I didn’t check up with them things could have been much worst.
I’m not doing any business with them and advise the same.
I debated posting a review or not, but I think I should if it’ll keep someone from having a bad experience. First off, the employees are super kind people. Couldn’t be happier with the staff. But unfortunately the work I received on my guitar was really poor. Took a guitar there, first time bringing them one of my instruments. Was told I could expect a turnaround in under a week. Ended up waiting almost 2 months. Honestly not a big deal, happens a lot with instrument repair. Got the guitar back. Took it out to play it and the truss rod cover is missing. Find it in the case and put it on. Turn the volume knob, it falls off. Have to spread the top of the pot and reinstall it. Start playing and there’s a weird oscillating noise from the amp. Find the output jack totally loose, have to take off the cover and tighten it. Screws for the cover are stripped in the body. This is a new guitar by the way. Notice the G string sits higher off the neck than all the others, very noticeably. Figured they would fix this when doing a setup but I guess not. Had to file the saddles out myself. Should have just done the job myself at this point. Ended up taking the guitar apart to make sure the wiring wasn’t as bad as the assembly and setup. Got it playing good now, but after paying for someone else to do it and then having to do it myself, it wasn’t worth it. I figured the extra time taken would have meant it was 100% ready to go when they called but apparently not. This was a mid range guitar so I’m not terribly upset about it, but if it was something really nice I would have definitely been upset. Take this into consideration before dropping off your favorite axe. Hope they learn to slow down and do quality work.
7. Jane’s Hallmark Shop
Address: Thatcher Woods Shopping Center, 3155 Thatcher Ave Ste 14, River Grove, IL 60171 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
This place is wonderful. Great gifts for birthdays etc. Staff goes above and beyond to help when needed. Highly recommend
Favorite card location for those special occasions. I always go to this location for the Mother’s Day, Graduation, Milestone birthday cards & gifts. They have the most thoughtful gifts for any occasion. The staff is always friendly, helpful & informative.
I have card birthday my brother okay
They ran out of candles too fast! They made me put on a mask! I bought a bracelet there that I just love though!
Nice enough people good selection of product Hallmark is pricey
i never post reviews and this is my first one because what happened was really disrespectful. i walked in because i saw a sign that they were hiring and i was in my street clothes, normal tank top and shorts because it’s hot outside, i’m 21 and wear what i like. i ask nicely about an application and the lady goes “i would love to give you an application but you need to come in here dressed for the job you want” excuse me? so at that point my energy changes and i just want to leave, i was with my boyfriend and i look at him like “did she seriously just shame me for wearing normal attire” he’s visibly angry as well. i feel embarrassed and she goes on “as a mother i wouldn’t let me kids dress like that and you need to come back in here dressed appropriately” …. i took the application and left without filling it out because i can’t imagine working with such disrespectful people. she tried to continue small talk but at that point i was so checked out i never want to go in that place again. they don’t even deserve a star honestly.
When I walked in the customer service Representatives asked if myself or my wife needed assistance and we advised them we were okay. However while walking through the aisles we could feel them watching us and every 2 seconds they continued to ask if we needed help. I would rather shop at a dollar store where someone won’t follow me then to come back into this store again. Very disturbing experience.
I went there today because It said online that they closed at 8 when I pulled up at 7:44pm they were closed. I understand I was coming late and close to closing but when a website says they close at one time I expect the place to be open if I’m there before that time.
8. TheHitShop Recording studio
Address: 1950 N Ruby St, Melrose Park, IL 60160 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
They care more about the drive thru than the lobby. 5 minutes just for 6 nuggets is crazy. At least it looks clean.
Może być
Only thing working drive-through don’t come here at all
Each time I go after lunch hours there is always been an issue. Today my children’s school had an event. I mentioned we were with the school and the girl in the drive thru was very rude. I did not get a receipt nor was I asked if I wanted a receipt. Once I received my order of sundaes I noticed how very little ice cream and hot fudge was in the cup. I rarely go to this location and today proved exactly why. Never have this issue with any other Mc Donald’s locations.
Beware PRICE GOUGING! Other local McDonalds’ sell items at a predetermined amount. For example, the traditionally $1 (plus tax) coffee is $1.39 at this location. The managers response is that “they do not set the price” while shrugging.
Spend your money at a more honest location.
10. Follet Bookstore
Address: 2000 5th Ave, River Grove, IL 60171 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
Everything you need to prepare for your best classroom experience.
Friendly service.
Good service
4 stat because they aren’t actually a part of the school. You have to show them your schedule in order to return rented books. Better to rent than buy though, so 4 stars. I also miss the corner bookstore that used to be on 5th before you turn into the school, but it is no longer there. Rent your books here though, or buy used. $$$. Better off getting your books though Amazon earlier if you can. Staff is still very helpful in getting your materials.
Great customer service. Just wish the store was opened later at least one day out of the week during the summer to accommodate summer semester students
The books are expensive and overpriced. Better off buying your books online or from somewhere else .
I didn’t see much merchandise on the shelves. Also they could have had more variety for cloths etc promoting the Triton brand. The sales lady was very nice.
The black lady working there is extremely rude and rushes you and doesn’t even try to help for what you are looking for. Seems like she doesn’t want to work there. Every time i have to go to the bookstore now i hate having to go because of her , i never get the help i need !
Went in to return an online book because I was never given a course key so I couldn’t even open the book. It seemed like nobody had a clue how return it. The cashier that took care of me was super rude and she talked to me like I was stupid. Overall really disappointed in not only the staff, but the prices of the books, I rented an online book from triton for $110 and later found it on chegg for $35.
11. Mark Nagy Instrument Repair
Address: 3513 N Ozark Ave, Chicago, IL 60634 , River Grove , Illinois , United States
I have my 11 year old daughter taking lessons and the staff is laid back and family friendly. I have played guitar for years and her teacher has made much progress over 6 months. My daughter enjoys learning here more than listening to her dad.
Rossi is a local business that services many instruments and from what I see you could take advanced lessons as an adult as well. Next time my daughter cant make her lesson I will take the spot and learn some actual music theory.
Rossi Music is what a music store should be with a both passionate and knowledgeable staff.
Just purchased my daughters first violin. The staff was very helpful on making sure she was fitted with the correct violin size and I can’t wait to get her started with lessons. I would also like to add John the drum instructor, had time to show my son what a drum lesson would involve and was able to even give him a quick lesson. I plan to sign my son up for drum lessons. Thank you so much for the help and great service!
SUZAN M.O’Rourke wrote on 1/19/2019 I visited Rossi’s in the Fall of 2018 and looked at a variety of instruments but seems to have a shared phone number with Little Company of Mary Hospital aproximately 1 or 1.5 miles east on 95th street. Unfortunate use of a beautifil web site The store offers sheet music and new snd used rental /purchase of instruments.
I visited this place for sheet music. The songs I wanted were found online and promptly printed for my purchase.
Bad customer service, dude with long hair gave me attitude and had a overall bad vibe
This place claims to offer guitar repairs. So i brought in a Gibson LP Custom that simply needed to be re-wired. The pickups were already installed all that was needed was to wire it up and solder it all together. A nice clean pallet to work with.
3 weeks in, I call and was told, We are waiting on parts! Ok? So i decided to buy a wiring kit offline for 100.00 and drop it off. Took me 1 day to get the parts, Took them 3 weeks and they were still waiting for wires and volume pots? Really?
So they had all brand new parts, wires, etc that i purchased myself. Once again, A nice clean slate to work with, Everything was brand new and clean, So wiring and soldering should have went smooth and looked good.
Another week later, I call and ask if its ready, Yeah! Come get it! So i guess they dont call people when instruments are ready for pickup?
I pick it up and bring it home, Plug it in and hear the worst noise ever.. The output of the pickups was all wrong. I have never heard a guitar sound this bad. I look inside and was shocked at the job!! Wires twisted together just hanging there. Soldering burnt thru the brand new pots! This was HORRIBLE!
I call him about it and he said, Oh well i plugged it in and the pickups had sound? Your kidding me right?
I could have brought it back for him to “fix” but after looking at what he did to a brand new wiring kit, Its best to keep guitars far far away from this guy. PLEASE if you have a guitar that is halfway decent and needs a setup, pickup swap or anything that requires a brain, Please take it elsewhere! This place is far from professional.
My son was taking lessons and love it! I paid for his classes in advance and was told that I didn’t and was expected to repay for my son to continue lessons. Advice if you decide to use their service take your own calender and make sure a teacher sign off the day he gave lessons. This will help you keep up for when the teacher cancels for the days you paid for.
