Great place and expert service. You can’t get a better no nonsense experience and they’ll treat you the same no matter what you buy. I have known these people for over 15years. They listen to your needs and do their best to meet them. Great repair work and talented staff.
Tyler, at American Music is a true Christian buisnessman. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Tyler is friendly and very helpful,
Really lacking in inventory. Staff was helpful, though.
If I were in an orchestra I would probably love this place and the staff are super nice. I was looking for guitars so not my bag but overall seems a nice friendly place
Expensive!
3. Rick’s Music
Address: 915 W Flamingo Ave, Nampa, ID 83651 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Rick does high quality work! He is very knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. I recommend him to everyone I know.
Best music store around.
Rick is a great guy, and there’s always a gem or two hanging on the wall. Good prices, too!
I had Rick set up my guitar. He did a Fantastic job. Fast and reliable. One day service. I would Recommend him all who needs guitar service. AAA++++
Last Saturday I took my most prized possession to Rick, I paid to have a set up and new strings put on my Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute pro. When I got it home I pulled it out and wanted to play it. I noticed right off the bat that Rick took a Utility knife or some other tool and shaved off the binding all around the fret board The fret board has gouges all the way around and the frets stick out and gouge your fret hand when you try to play it. My guitar is completely ruined! I haven’t slept in several days I’m so pissed. I in no way implied, asked for or mentioned that he do this to my guitar. I can’t even open the case it makes me so sick! I would not recommend Rick to anyone again. Rudy Rodriguez Nampa Idaho
4. Dorsey Music, Nampa
Address: 1231 Caldwell Blvd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Always fantastic service here. These people are very knowledgeable.
Worked with Dave on buying a begginer trombone for my 6th grade son, great help and service!!
Very nice and had good information on several instruments and accessories.
I would had given this 5 ☆ however I paid for my guitar to be tuned, it was not done! The gal at the register super friendly, seen a good amount of customers and products ✅
The staff we really nice with helping me assemble my instrument. I am sure I will come back here soon
One of my favorite places to go and Shop! I would have gotten 5 stars but my two favorite people weren’t there LOL
Mr Dorsey is very rude! He is very condescending when he talks to people. I’m surprised he gets much business but it’s probably due to there not bring many options for music stores.
So disappointed. I’ll admit I came in expecting to be helped and I didnt hide that I didnt know the difference between a high end guitar or a cheap one. He seemed to be helpful and let my son try different guitars to size them to my son. He did seem a little off the whole time like he was a little humored I didnt know my guitars. He knew the price range we wanted to spend. He ended up bringing us a guitar with no price tag on it “This is the only one without a tag”. My son loved this one so I asked him the price. It happened to be exactly what our budget was. When he was out of the room we took a picture of the model number. When we left we did research. He was trying to sell us a $180 guitar for $300. And was trying to take advantage that we were trusting his “help” for a newbie. Talked to my musical friend they said they are notorious for that and they are crooks. So disappointed in that level of dishonesty. I thought it was weird this guitar was missing its price tag.
Just great
5. Dunkley Music
Address: 513 W Karcher Rd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Took my daughter in to get setup for her first ever violin. Shelby was awesome. Helped us with everything. Very friendly. And very fair! Thank you!
Had the unfortunate experience with a different local music place instead of going to DUNKLEYS FIRST!!! As soon as I walked in, I felt instantly comfortable and welcomed. No credit check needed! Made me feel important and made me feel valued. Will only do businesses with these folks for instruments moving forward. Xoxoox thank you Shelby!!
I go here to get my cello fixed and repaired. They are very reliable and helpful. Over all, this is the best music store I have been in.
Would not recommend. Very unwelcome vibes. Zero chill music store vibes lady just wanted us to leave the second we got ther. The lady I dealt with was rude and tried to gouge me for my money.
6. Idaho Vinyl Records
Address: 524 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, ID 83605 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
So much fun to visit but hard to take in all they have in just one trip. The ladies that run the store are fantastic and very friendly. Amazing selection of albums.
Great selection! Great prices!
Bill was awsome he really knows his stuff
Had a good experience selling here.
Good selection of records and lots to look at around the store. I will be back again.
Friendly And Knowledgeable Service, Something For Anyone..
Overpriced
7. American Audio
Address: 2912 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, ID 83605 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Richard runs a personable and talented recording studio. We were impressed with his setup but especially with his ability to take our sound and craft it into what we wanted.
We (a band of four) had an original song we wanted to record on short notice for a wedding and Richard was able to help us out.
I appreciated the flexibility that he had as far as how much editing and fine tuning we wanted.
We are very happy with the end product and glad we chose American Audio!
Thank you Rich for making my song happen! He is professional, easy to work with and a whiz at making my vocals sound just right. And affordable too! I am very happy with the end result.
Bought a used guitar from this store and could not be happier! Store was clean and every employee goes above and beyond for you!
8. Blue Rider Music & Instrument Repair
Address: 595 W Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Old school independent music store. Great service and a variety of options. Really appreciate thier help.
Amazing service. The people here are so personable and knowledgeable. Been going here for years and if I have a problem with their work I tell them and they make it right
Can’t say enough good things about this place. They’re incredibly kind, knowledgeable and helpful; and you can tell that they genuinely care about helping you find what you need instead of just selling you something. I look forward to giving them more business in the future.
Helpful staff! They got my son’s trumpet soldered and shined!
I need a trumpet mute and I don’t know if Blue Rider has one! Can someone help?
9. Gig’s Music
Address: 611 N Orchard St, Boise, ID 83706 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
Insane inventory, mildly overshadowed by the positive vibe and knowledgeable staff.
Great place to pick up some used gear and support a local business.
I went into Gigs Music back in September and was pleasantly surprised. A friendly gentleman approached and was extremely helpful. It’s now December and I’ve been back àt least 30 times or more. Their prices are more than reasonable. The service is superb which makes it a even better experience. All in all on a scale from 1to 10 I give Gigs Music an easy 9 1/2. That’s how impressed I am
~ Dave Robinette.
They don’t sell reeds…
Good shop. Needs more stuff.
Knowledgable, sincere staff who are working diligently to provide an alternative to the big box stores. They have a ways to go, but headed in the next direction.
Went by to sell a couple guitars and amps on a Saturday. Hours on the door say they open at 11, but it was 1115 and noone was there. Another customer in the parking lot told me that “sometimes this just happens” and said he texted the owner to see when they were coming. At 1130 we both left. Follow the hours you show.
I dropped off my amp to get the boost and reverb fixed in August 2019. Over a year later and I still don’t have my amp. I’ve stopped by several times and tried to help find the parts needed. They won’t answer or return my calls so stopping by is the only way to check in. It’s been perpetually “a couple weeks” away from being done for a year. Unbelievably bad service. Never ever rely on them for amp repair.
Nice store, with knowledgeable people, with a friendly attitude. Went in to look at guitars and they helped me find a great one and were nlt at all pushy. Ill be back in.
The piano movers really did an awesome job moving my grand. They treated it like a delicate piece of furniture. Worth every penny!
Maddie made our first rental for our daughter so easy. We were in and out with an instrument in 15 minutes. Very knowledgeable and explained everything throughout each step of the process.
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
It’s alright. If you’re looking for Orchestra stuff I would recommend Telford and Sons.
Back when Dunkley’s was in-town in Boise, I was an avid customer…they always have been professional and friendly all-in-one! They still are.
All of my musical equipment, specifically my violin and flute for school orchestra/band, came from here. And I am impressed with it nowadays!
GOOO Dunkley Music!!!
My wife, son, and I went to Dunkleys to do a little piano shopping as we had sold her piano a few years back and have now moved into a new home and have space again. Spent 10 minutes walking around looking at the various options without so much as a hello from anyone working there. Noone seemed overly busy but neither did they seem interested in helping us. Love supporting local but if you do not want my business you will not get it.
This would be a wonderful music store if it wasn’t for the poor customer service for the folk who come in who are judged based on appearance and/or their apparent wealth or lack thereof. I have been playing piano and trombone for more than half my life now and my daughter is about to enter 6th grade. She has tried the trombone but is more interested in playing tuba. The staff told her she was too little, that the other instrument she was interested in — bassoon — was “really rare,” [too] expensive, and that starting on a double reed instrument was a really bad idea…oh, and did I mention that she was just way too short to play the instruments she wanted? This is not their place to decide and I have played alongside MANY petite, thin, and amazing female tuba players. Staff should not provide input on what instruments myself or anyone else “should” play, nor place any limits on their customer. Their job is to sell instruments and they can do so without being condescending or insulting.
Pooor customer service , employees standing around and acted like we were bothering them to serve us
12. Disc-Cover Records
Address: 1224 1st St S #202, Nampa, ID 83651 , Marsing , Idaho , United States
The owner is amazing and has a real passion for music. I enjoy talking with him as much as looking through his great selection of vinyl. Great prices, awesome selection, and a friendly and welcoming environment. Perfect addition to downtown Nampa!
High quality used vinyl, with super fair prices! Nice, friendly atmosphere
Beautiful collection of records, not over priced and a great staff
Went here and browsed for a bit. Decent selection. Was unable to purchase anything however, as the owner spoke in riddles and I was unable to decipher them
Nice little record shop.
Until recently, I’ve been blocked from this page. I have absolutely no idea why, even after leaving a positive review (which I can no longer access, edit, or take down). Reading some other comments on here, it doesn’t suprise me that the owner would do something like this.
