Guitar Center is an amusement park for my husband and daughter. I have to drop them off or spend 2 hours in there! This location, as with all I’ve been to, has the most friendly and helpful associates. They go above and beyind.
Fun helpful staff.
Great selection
Great service knowledgeable, good prices
Didn’t get greeted till about 20 minutes into it. And then had to ask them for the assistance I needed. So never was greeted
By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my live by any retail or service provider. Not necessarily Guitar Center but this particular store sucks.
Okay
3. Gadsden Music Company – Birmingham
Address: 4524 Southlake Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35244 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
I’ve only had positive experiences here. Everybody is very friendly, happy and knowledgeable. They have taken care of my instrument needs and the turnaround time for service is quick.
Clean! I love it!
Very friendly staff
They fixed my trumpet well. A probably what is scored 5 stars if the repair was the same day.
Nice little music store for concert students. Not much in store selection but they can get what you need. This is not a guitar center type store.
Fantastic friendly service at a reasonable price
I would give this Gadsden music store no stars if it was allowed. The store representative, Jason Duren, had a bad attitude and was not helpful. He did not want to hand me my receipt and when I said something about it he told me I had an attitude. Jason must have a problem with women or it maybe people of color in general. Don’t waste your time here!! Fine a real music store who welcomes paying customers.
Worst customer service! Really had no interest in talking to my child who is the one to be playing the instrument. Will gladly spend my thousands of dollars somewhere else!
The Birmingham location is by far the RUDEST place I have ever encountered! The staff is HORRIBLE (outside of Ms. Carolyn Gadsden)! Whenever you call they don’t seem interested or concerned with conducting business. My child’s instrument was in the shop for over a month. I left several messages and emailed only to be told they stopped working on it and needed my credit card info first. When the rep visited the school, I was given a flyer that clearly states the instrument will be repaired and then you are to pay. I am highly disgusted! My child’s grade has been effected as a result of the long wait times and the staffs inability to effectively communicate with its customers. DO NOT deal with them if you have other options!!! Smh!
4. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
I bought a tama superstar classic from Bailey Brothers, and was very happy. The staff member that i worked with was david he was very helpful and nice. i highly recommend this music store!
Awesome store, very large diverse selection of fine acoustic and electric guitars. Many other fine instruments. I was just there for the guitars. The sales people here are very helpful and nice!
I walked thru the door and felt at home. The sales associates are seasoned musicians, so they know. They had exactly what i needed with a smile. And they were cheaper than the competition. They sell Mesa Boogie. What more can i say.
Good service. Knowledgeable staff. Wish there was one closer to us!
Good selection of musical equipment. Be prepared because they strictly enforce the muzzle mandate inside. They make you wear masks.
Great customer service. Great selection. However, I was NOT thrilled to see their logo custom printed onto the snare head I bought. Would have received 5 stars if not for that. Going to remove it with some acetone.
Waited 15 minutes for someone to help me but instead was ignored. Ended up leaving empty handed. I literally just needed drumsticks and the person at the front was aware. Will never go back.
Don’t answer the phone
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
5. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Bob and Jason are truly amazing luthiers, offering repair and setup that’s second-to-none. They also have a number of great new and used instruments available for purchase.
Very friendly staff, excellent workmanship!
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
Good product, Good service.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
6. Guitar Gallery Inc, The Guitar Gallery Guitars and Records, Guitar Gallery Records
Address: 309 Hargrove E Rd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
I bought a nice squire or mexican start there a while back and they sold it to me for a resonable price
Great job on my classical, very nice, thanks
Great customer service. Very knowledgeable staff that doesn’t try to pressure up-sells to you. Also very friendly.
I dropped by to look at some used Guitars and was greeted appropriately. I didn’t find what I was looking for but the guys were feuendly
Knowledgeable staff. Good guitar selection
Didn’t have what I needed or wanted I guess i shouldn’t be so harsh it being Virus season but still..
Horrible I wasn’t even allowed to approach the merchandise cases where I could see the items on display.
Tried to give a used bass with a part of a fret missing
The person who answers the phone is freakishly weird. Everything I ever ask do they have he says he doesn’t know what that is. PLEASE FIRE THIS NONCHALANT MAN. He creeps me out and does not know anything about music. Please get another worker gosh
7. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Great place and good prices. Music lessons as well. Definitely a place to check out for any music lover of any age. Staff are highly knowledgeable.
This Is A Place You Don’t Want Too Miss
Highland is a great shop for both vintage and new gear! Highly recommended.
Guitars are really overpriced, but the guy behind the counter was courteous.
They generally have the best used stock in Birmingham, lots of great vintage pieces, really just lots of stuff. However, they are not online, not even something as simple as a stock list. it’s really disappointing because I would like to shop and but from them, but it is not easy to get to their location (middle of downtown area, near the hospitals and trendy eating, so lots of traffic). I would buy so much more stuff from them if they would put up anything that simply listed their current stock. I can’t call them and say “hey man, list all of your guitars and conditions for me” every few day, and I am not about to drive 60 minutes from my suburb on a whim. Although I would be up there like a shot if there was an online presence/list, and there was something I wanted. But, since I never know what is up with that place or their stock, and gas is $$$, I just occasionally go, and rarely purchase. Great store, but 4 stars for no way of knowing stock ahead of a long drive through terrible traffic.
This store has a modest inventory with some great guitars in it. They are “priced at market” with almost no flexibility on pricing. The only issue I ran into was pricing guitars and amps at the high side of Reverb and Ebay regardless of condition. If the listings are $600 for sale online (but selling for $450 in mint condition) and Highland has a similar item in good condition but missing a knob or backplate, the Highland price will likely still be $550-$600. That said, the employee was nice and fairly knowledgeable when he had time for a quick question. Overall, a good place to check for 1-off and unique guitars but don’t expect a “steal” or to haggle. That just ain’t gonna happen here.
I guess they have some unique items which is cool but the folks behind the counter really seemed like they were annoyed to put their conversation on hold in order to help me and were also EXTREMELY condescending and pretentious. I’m a fairly experienced musician and these guys spoke to me as if I was completely ignorant and always would be.
Pretentious and overpriced….typical music store snobbery
About what you’d expect. Pretentious, unhelpful, and offended that you’d dare shop in their overpriced thrift store. But they’ve been in business forever and they ain’t changing.
8. Lisenby’s Music Shop
Address: 831 S Memorial Dr, Prattville, AL 36067 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
We have used them for our musical needs for years. Tracy and Lance will do all they can to help you with your instruments, musical supplies and music lessons. Tracy also tutors math, and has been a valuable part of my kids being successful in their math class. I highly recommend giving them a try.
Super knowledgeable guy that Mr Lisenby. I’ve known him since I moved to the area and he has always been a key asset to the local music scene. He just keeps getting better with age!
Best Music Store! Family owned by people who care!
Lance and Tracy are nice folks. They have a good selection of strings and accessories. Neat place for obscure instruments.
9. Andy’s Music
Address: 1412 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, AL 36695 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
I bought an acoustic guitar for my granddaughter from Andy’s with the expert help of James Andrews and am thoroughly pleased with the purchase. Thanks James! If I have a need for another guitar, Andy’s is the place where you will find me!
Really great place! Had the cleaning supplies that i was looking for!
Quality instruments and quite affordable!
Good product…shipping packaging sucks USPS destroyed the packaging and this is the third baton I ordered. Somehow they keep survive the beating…
Bought several musical instruments from Andy’s, and got great service and great price. Recommend them highly!
My experience at Andy’s was horrible. I called and ask do they have any piano music for beginners and was told yes. The sales person was friendly over the phone but the minute I arrived her whole attitude changed. She didn’t want to help me. I walked around for about 15 minutes waiting to ask for help but the staff pretended to be busy even when no one was in the store. The minute a Caucasian person walked in, they were at their beck and call ready to help. I was so excited about buying music so I can practice my piano, but after being treated like dirt my attitude changed. I wish people would learn that know matter what color you are, one is know better than the other. Please stop believing that lie!
“Andy’s Music”, simply awful service and a rip off. I purchased an expensive guitar (Ibanez Fireman) from their Amazon store, what a mistake. Andy’s Music claimed the guitar which was refused and returned at the dispatch office was damage and opened. After dozens of emails, they tried to charge me $100 for shipping and claimed they didn’t want to go through the hassle of putting in a claim with UPS. (the shipping was supposedly “free”) and then charged me $26 for outgoing shipping and $26 for return shipping. They sent me one terrible photo of the guitar and 8 random pictures of broken boxes to try to imply damage from the dispatcher. Their carrier, UPS mistake cost me $52.00 and Andy’s Music would not refund the shipping. I’ll never purchase from Andy’s Music again and you should be wary as well. I have purchased THOUSANDS of dollars of musical equipment from Amazon, and never had an issue until now…Andy’s Music is a rip off…
Once we walked threw the door, i explained what i was in the store for. However the lady act as if she did not want my kids to try out an instrument and went back and forth with reasons on why they shouldnt try an instrument. I politely left the store and will never be back. I went because i wanted my kids to have an instrument of their choice for christmas, And my kids still will, just not purchased from this store.
10. Guitar Center
Address: 2572 Eastern Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36117 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Very helpful staff and a wonderful full selection for the music lover.
Mui
My daughter loves music so she really enjoys trip to GC. It’s funny how much of the gear I had in the 70’s and 80’s is now “vintage” and when I was a teenager, we all thought the coolest gear was from the 50’s and 60’s. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I just needed some guitar strings but the store was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Not the best customer service but sometimes you do get good service it just depends on whos working.
Very knowledgable and helpful staff. Steve B very good.
Not helpful!!
The sales associate was on her phone the entire time we were there and never once tried to help us. I had to get an associate from the front who had zero knowledge of drums. The inventory wasn’t there to make the sale anyway so we will order online from someone else.
Myself and another gentleman were waiting for help forever no one came only person I saw was playing on their phone so I approached and said I guess you don’t want my business and proceeded to go buy speakers at Bailey Bros. Not sure what the gentleman I was in there with did. I have had to search for help before there, so nothing new but this was the worsed!
11. Spicer’s Music
Address: 2140 E University Dr K, Auburn, AL 36830 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Helpful staff. Great selection, especially guitars. Also have many options to choose from with pianos and other instruments. I had to order something they didn’t have in stock, and it came in within a couple days.
The guys at Spicer’s are extremely friendly and helpful. I choose this shoot over the big box music stores any day. Down home, small town feel where the customer is the guest of honor! No cap!
Every experience with Spicer’s Music has been top notch! From buying gifts, to sitting in on a Saturday morning event, to Summer Music Camps, to even posting of musical events in the community…I can not recommend it more!
also I messaged you in reference to the 3 red eggs and maple leaf…
Enjoy going in there.Nice, great guitar den, friendly. Buy the guitar strings I like, and play the guitars.
You can take a variety of lessons, buy musical instrument accessories, and enjoy musical performances.
Lots of variety. I didn’t even buy anything, but asked one of the staff several questions about a few of their guitars and he was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The store itself looks pretty cool and has a nice flow to it. A cool spot to check out some good instruments. Parking can be sort of a pain during peak hours during the day, but overall it’s a good choice to visit anytime
Less than fair.
Came in with my daughter, looking to purchase a 12 string guitar. 5 employees ignore us for over 15 minutes. They were busy looking at their phones, and speaking to one another. We waited patiently but not one person even acknowledged we were there. Sad.
Great music store. Very helpful and friendly staff
Wish this was still true.. horrible experience recently when attempting to purchase a expensive acoustic guitar. 6/27/22 Went back to make a 2k+ purchase and was informed that I was given the wrong price by a salesman 2 days before. They tried to give other options but not enough to compensate for what was told to me. Very disappointed in a music store I’ve been loyal to for years.
12. Guitar Center
Address: 5900 University Dr NW Suite A, Huntsville, AL 35806 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Guitar Center is my favorite place to go. It’s great for a drummer like me
Great place to see what strikes your fancy!
Wow
The staff is helpful and knowledgeable in most sections of the store
Excelente
Always go in to try out the drum equiptment that have out. Unfortunately nothing is ever setup to where you can try it out. Especially the e-drum sets. The one acoustic set they may have set up is always missing half the kit. I’m not going to buy something I cant try out first. That’s honestly the only reason I go in there. May as well just blindly buy something off the internet. Also, good luck trying to get any help in that percussion section.
There employees just don’t keep there word. I won’t bask then but will not subject myself to that kind of treatment and they did it in front of all the people in the store.
Went to check out electronic drums and they were all broken!! I mean every set!!! I walked around to find out that this was the issue for most everything that you can demo. On your of that not one employee made even eye contact with me much less ask if I needed help or even hello!!!
13. Guitar Pro’s LLC
Address: 224 Main St, Trussville, AL 35173 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Very nice shop with nice owners. Helpful and kind. They also have some keyboards, drum stuff, school band parts. It’s a small shop but lots of heart. I picked up some strings and pics. I would go back.
This is where i go to buy anything music, We have even got our daughter into drum lessons. Every person in the store is nice and more than willing to answer questions and help out how they can.
Went to guitar pro’s and had a set up done on my acoustic. I was well pleased with my guitar. This place has a great selection of guitars, amps and accessories. And most of all these folks were friendly and helpful. The prices were great too.I really enjoyed meeting these folks. I’ll be sure to go back when I need something.THANKS GUITAR PRO’S#
Nice people. Nice selection of guitars and gear. They have a lot of strings to choose from.
Have a decent variety of all different kinds of cords and instruments and the guitars rule great prices too. And the lady in there is always super sweet
Great people and fair prices. Support your local music store!
Accused me of taking out a screw, when all I asked was for the value of what it would cost to fix that. I fixed it myself 16$ out of my own pocket for a new screw, set of strings, and labor on my workbench at home. I thought about going to small claims court, for not selling me a guitar in the condition they claimed on reverb. I’d been looking for this guitar for a while, I didn’t want to just return it. I just wanted it in the condition that I saw it in and felt insulted when they instantly made me out to be at fault even after sending pictures moments after receiving it from UPS and to top it off I even have video of when I first opened it on the CCTV at work. Overall poor online experience.
I bought a guitar for $2,875 from this shop online and they listed it as mint condition. I had to take it to a local luthier to have the frets polished because they were so dirty the guitar was unplayable. The shop refused to even split the cost ($50), wow! Incredible.
I will never set foot in this place again. Not that they will care. Thought I would give it another chance after several years. Nothing has changed so now I know for sure.
14. American Guitar Boutique
Address: 707 13th St, Phenix City, AL 36867 , Roteiro , Alabama , United States
Tim, Mike, and John are great to work with! They are knowledgeable, friendly, HELPFUL, and offer services at a fair price! I’m glad there’s such a quality music store so close to my home! I highly recommend American Guitar Boutique!
Tim and Mike always provide top quality service. Be sure and check with these guys before making a decision about any of your musical needs.
Awesome Service…..Tell 2 Friends
Attentive
Venden cosas para la música a buen precio, hacen arreglos de instrumentos, y dan clases musicales!!!
Super helpful. I didn’t buy anything this time and they didn’t treat me like any less of a customer. I’ll definitely be back to get my LP set up.
Ended up paying twice as much as quoted for replacement of one peg on bass. Paid for two when only one needed replacing.
It took 6 weeks just to change the bridge and put some new strings on. They said they would call and they didn’t. Went to pick up the guitar and it has a huge chunk taken out of the neck! I will not be bringing anything to this store nor will I send anyone their way.
