Staffing was very helpful and informed. Great selections of guitars, pedals and amps. They sell new and used and can sometimes make small repairs to guitars.
This Guys are Awesome!
Parking can be a challenge. Decent selection of used gear.
Great shop. Nice guys. A touch overpriced.
Like the name, these are really good guys, love their biz and it shows.
Very unhelpful. Asked what ibwas looking for, didnt even look at me. I was looking for hand percussion, drums. Was told he only had egg shakers. There was a drum in the window, and two in front of me. I just figured maybe they weren’t for sell.
I am a repeat customer and always enjoyed the friendly service. I have bought several baritone ukuleles of various value and was always satisfied. However, today I spoke with Chris? And confirmed that I wanted to purchase the cheaper of the two that he said they have. At 4:30 pm I called him to let him know that I was on my way. He stated that they were filming inside the store but he would meet me outside and said “I got you” I thanked him. When I got there he informed me that he sold the ukulele!!! I was visibly bummed. He said that the customer had the ukulele in his hand and he didn’t want to tell him no. I asked if they still had the more expensive one ($500) nah was ($200) for real. He said yup, so I told him I would purchase it. I went to the ATM and even paid the additional fee because he said would be more convenient so I said sure. I got back just as he was coming from the back. Ukulele in hand, no case or box or receipt. He even threw in a tuner. I was stocked. In my excitement I tried to tune it as soon as i got to my car. Was having difficulties from the very start. Eventually even with the tuner. Really bummed. I ripped the strings right off the uke. Even burned the tuner with my altered torch. Luckily it was enough to destroy the tuner. If I am not able to get a replacement one, even if it’s cheaper one then I will be handling this matter between Chris and myself(Scott T Kurosu). I was very impressed by Chris’s quick response. I was able to go down the very next day and after hearing my feeliepairedengs about the situation he offered to replace my uke. However I would have to wait for the next delivery. I asked him if he could repair my uke, nothing fancy just as long as it works. He repaired it and also gave me $100 out of his own pocket. I am very grateful and happy. Thank you Chris Aloha & god bless
3. Dan’s Guitars
Address: 2000 S Beretania St. # B, Honolulu, HI 96826 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Dan and The people there are true proffesioals….great service and amazing work on the beautiful guitars they sell and service there…!!!
Great customer service.. got help right away.
Nice people, small place, good selection.
Went there to sell 15″Yamaha Speakers no can
Bought 2 carbon fiber guitars here. I have known Dan since the 1980s. He has a lot of instruments, amps, ect. He has new and used music equipment and does some repairs. All the local musicians hang out there. Has some good deals as well. Has a large variety music equipment.
Went in here to get a new guitar so I could start leaning how to play. I decided on a preowned guitar. It was labeled and sold to me as a Fender Stratocaster. After my friend checked it out when they were visiting they discovered that it was actually a squire and worth a fraction of what I paid at the store. I brought it in to talk to a worker about it. I came in asking for it to be verified and if it is found to be a squire scam then I was going to ask for a refund. I explained my dilemma to the worker and was met with what seemed to be a smug attitude. He insisted that it was a genuine strat but said that he would have Dan, the store owner, give it a look. He also explained to me that this was part of a consignment sale which I was not notified at all in store. I came back after Dan had time to give it a look and he agreed with me that it was in fact a squire and whichever employee received it had failed to verify its quality. That employee was the one that sold it to me and the one I had spoken to prior. Dan had then offered to sell it as consignment for me, but that I wouldn’t be able to get near what I paid since it’s not worth that much, or he could give me store credit towards a replacement. I asked for a refund since this was a case of misadvertisement and nearly fraud. He denied this as it was a consignment sale, which I’ll reiterate that I wasn’t notified of that at time of sale. Contrary to his employee, Dan was understanding and I would say he is the only reason to go to the store. He’s obviously passionate about music and spreading that joy to others. I was looking for a fender Stratocaster since I was new and I knew little to nothing about guitars. He showed me a guitar that was at the value of the store credit. He said it was a Japan made Fender Stratocaster. I was grateful and given new breath to learn the instrument. After further inspection it turns out to be an ESP Grassroots. Once again, worth far less than what it was at the store. Now I am out a lot of money and no longer have an interest in learning music. I would prefer to have my money back bur considering how I was treated it seems like scams go over better than legitimacy in the overall of this shop. I hope it gets better.
Had two patch cables made for 40 bucks while I was here/on the road playing. I’m not sure what was wrong with them but when used on my board my volume was cut in half and none of drive pedals worked properly. I’ve been playing professionally full time for two years and part time for 12. This was discovered that night at the gig in front of 500 people. I called and no answer. Left a message no call back. Messaged on facebook no message back. Emailed no email back. Avoid.
I walked in and asked for a bass tuner. I’m not the most experienced musician. He told me that it doesn’t matter if it’s a bass tuner or a general tuner. Turns out, it very much does matter, and I am now out $20. They will get you in and out quick, but make sure you know your stuff before you walk in or they will take advantage.
4. Easy Music Center
Address: 1314 S King St STE G1, Honolulu, HI 96814 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Most diverse music shop in hawai‘i and on o’ahu, amazing selection. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and you can play a huge range of instruments. If you want it, they’ve probably got it
Great guitars. Very friendly, patient and knowledge staff (Peter and another gentleman of whom I didn’t catch his name). The price of acoustic guitars is also pretty competitive.
楽日本より10-20%安いです
It’s ok however the staff seem preoccupied with other things at the last four times I was there, I spent over a thousand dollars one time and my Taylor acoustic electric guitar was not off alignment so I wanted to trade it a day later and they gave me the run around. Plus I bought strings that were defected there were no lock pins on two of the strings in the set of six.
Fairly well stocked music store, with very poor parking facilities for its central location on a very busy main thoroughfare–I have driven into the parking lot several times but never found an open stall there or anywhere in the neighborhood during the middle of the day. Only found an open stall one time to visit the store and bought a few guitar accessories. Fortunately, we have Coconut Grove Music here in Kailua to visit. New website needs a LOT of work compared to mainland vendors, but that’s pretty standard for businesses in Hawaii where webmasters are hired on a monthly part-time basis, it seems…
日曜日は休みでした。
Save your time and money. Faka’s couldn’t wait a minute for me to get to the store for a store pickup. Go to Sweetwater instead!
If you shop here, pray your transaction is smooth enough not to require manager assistance. This guy values the importance of winning a fight over keeping present and potential customers. His arrogant personality, cocky confidence, and childish name calling (yes, he actually went to name calling) has turned me off this store and has motivated me to tell my friends and family not to shop here or any of their other locations. When we asked who his boss was, he refused to provide contact information.
I will take my business elsewhere, along with anyone else I can take with me.
never seemed to care bout helping trying to solve my guitar problem after spending over 500 dollars at there store..warranty wasnt explained cleary at purchased and they also changed their policy when i tried to purchased another guitar cause they assumed i was going to return it..treated very rudely..i would not recommend this place to any of the people on this planet nor any other planets
5. Big Island Guitars and Music Supply
Address: 1221 Kilauea Ave #10, Hilo, HI 96720 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Picked up my first Guitar, Beautiful variety to choose from for a Great price! Thank you
Aloha, everytime I drop into Big Island Guitar, I am able to get the service I need for my guitar accessories. Excellent workmanship and great prices! Spencer is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about his products and what I need serviced.
The atmosphere here is very friendly and welcoming. Plenty aloha. Spencer, the owner, treats customers like family. He is very knowledgeable regarding musical instruments and provides great service at very affordable prices. All of the music shops in Hilo are awesome, but I would recommend Big Island Guitar and Music Supply first. Mahalo!
Spencer is a very personable individual who is very knowledgeable. The store itself is quaint and stock can be limited but it has pretty much everything that’s needed in general.
Drove an hour , website said open, answering service said open, closed during advertised business hours.
6. Music Center of Hawaii Inc
Address: 2347 S Beretania St. #200, Honolulu, HI 96826 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Amazing service! Came here to get a new set of strings for my violin, and we we’re out in like three minutes! They were very polite and helpful. Easy to get to, although parking is a little tight. Still amazing!
Re-hairing of a bass bow was flawless and quick. Highly recommended.
Best place to go very helpful and knowlegeable
A great shop. Much to look at , temptation everywhere for a musician
Helpful staff. Great location for woodwind accessories, reeds and such. Also provides a wide range of classical stringed instruments
They don’t buy used instrument
I didnt know you can’t be laughed at cause you didn’t have enough cash on you … How low class can you be ….
7. Guitar Center
Address: 1000 Kamehameha Hwy Suite 200, Pearl City, HI 96782 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
I purchased a concert ukulele for myself 5 days ago and wanted to upgrade to a tenor ukulele for personal preferences. The personnel in the strings department was very helpful. Tim the store manager was very courteous and understanding. Excellent service. Highly recommended.
Just had the best experience buying from the Pearl City store. I spoke with a gentleman named Tim who was very well spoken and extremely helpful. With all the Covid-19 red tape surrounding retail, I expected the process to be quite a hassle, but Tim went above and beyond to get me what I needed, and I look forward to purchasing many more instruments from this store going forward. 10 out of 5 stars.
Easily the best music center for all music/instruments everything. Friendly staff, they encourage you to use their instruments, test them out for yourself. They have their own acoustic & percussion rooms, offer private lessons. Incredible selection of guitars & keyboards. There’s something for everyone here.
It’s a big business, and I always prefer smaller local businesses, but it’s a good store!
Same as all other G.C.’s except James at front desk is a good guy. He will help with your needs.
This place has been my go-to for yrs. I love looking at new gear and always love to play so check it out!!!!
Music instructor is not bad, but, the front workers in the lessons department need to get their act together!! They don’t give a heads up when a music instructor is absent, when driving there for nothing could have been prevented!! Needs more people that are there to get paid for working. They don’t answer their phone m
Well I was being helped by one individual who really couldn’t tell me much about the product I was going to buy. So he told me to wait while he gets someone with a little more expertise. So I did. Didn’t expect to wait for 30-45 minutes. Walked out and went to another music store and made a large purchase there instead. Oh well, it happens…
I was disappointed in the lack of equipment for ukulele, there was no options available for tenor ukulele.
8. Music Exchange
Address: 75-5626 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
My daughter wanted a ukulele, but to learn, not merely as a tourist trinket. This place is a little hidden away, but it’s a musician’s store, rather than a souvenir store.
Prices are reasonable, the guy serving us was very helpful at selecting a good instrument and didn’t try and push something inappropriate. I’d highly recommend this store if you’re looking for something to play rather than hang on the wall.
very informative sales and good pricing
it was nice meeting Mr. Gabbin.
Friendly and knowledgeable service
These guys usually have what I need and their prices are reasonable. Great repair shop as well.
찾기 힘듦
I’ve been here twice. The first time I stood off to the side, but in view of the clerk. I stood there for at least 15 minutes, while 2 different customers were attended to. I wasn’t even spoken to.
The next time I went in to buy some finger picks. I was spoken to, or maybe grunted at, while the attendant restrung an electric guitar.
I’ve had enough.
Although the store supposedly opens at 10:30 AM on weekdays, I arrived to this store at 11 AM and no one was inside and the lights were off.
Waited outside patiently for 30 minutes during an employee break. When the employee opened the shop again he told us to leave as soon as we stepped in. Giving no explanation, just saying “goodbye”.
9. Bounty Music
Address: 111 Hana Hwy #105, Kahului, HI 96732 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Good service. Always good advise from people that play music and work with sound.
Awesome selection of anything you can think of.
I stopped by to visit the folks at Bounty Music to rent an acoustic guitar and buy a ukulele. The staff were really easy going and helpful! Highly recommend!!
Reece was exceptional with his willingness to help me find the perfect ukulele for my level of ability, i appreciated his patience in answering my question. I will look for him again in my next visit.
The only music shop on Maui. I spent a lot of money here on instruments. However, it is expensive. no competition sucks on Maui.
They have a great selection of ukuleles. Overall, it would have been a good experience, but one of the workers (possibly the key holder) kept rushing us to finalize our purchase and decide what we want to do because they were closing. Probably not the best way to treat customers. It was very displeasing. Other than him, the other gentleman helping us was very courteous and helpful.
Great selection of ukuleles and guitars. They also have a few keyboards. They had very few mandolin, violins, and other instruments. They had all types of ukulele, for kids, beginners, and high end instruments.
I bought 2 guitars there. I’m happy with the guitars so they get an extra star. Their service is awful. I get that artistic people shouldn’t be expected to be the most professional at work so I gave them slack. I brought my guitar in to get serviced (strings buzzing on electric). Guy X says “The guy who can fix that isn’t here today and to start the process you gotta talk to Guy Y over there.” ( is there really only one person out of the 6 here that knows how to put a tag on a guitar with my name/#/ and problem?) I couldn’t believe only one person knew how to adjust it that worked AT A GUITAR/UKULELE SHOP. Guy X ditches me and I’m left stranded. There was more that day but I’ll stop here because Guy Y basically ignored me and helped people behind me.
I left it there (finally, and it wasn’t guy Y who helped but a girl who saw me there in line for 20 min and felt bad, she put a tag on the guitar with name/#/ and problem). 2 days later I called to see how it was going. They said “Dude, we’ll call you when it’s ready, click.” I went there 3 days after I left it and they said it hadn’t been touched. Would you trust a mechanic who didn’t even touch your car after 3 days in the shop? I wouldn’t. I took it home, watched YouTube videos and got it done.
If you need something NOW you have to go there. I love to support local business, even if they’re more expensive (to be fair in my cases they were not more expensive than online). However, I won’t support any business that is careless with me.
Wide variety of instrument TYPES here yet a very limited selection in terms of brands available. Speakers are very overpriced. Microphone selection is almost completely absent, absolutely zero equipment geared for DJs, no vinyl merchandise that I could see, no stylus’ or slipmats, guitar selection was literally only guitars and 80% were Epiphone, the rest were Fender or Squire. No Jackson. No Spectre. I didn’t see a single Bass anywhere in the store. Picks are well priced however they are double the cost of any mainland guitar/music store I’ve ever been to.
Disregarding some snobby customers/regulars comments and an extremely racist remark referring to me as a terrorist, this shop is perfect for a gentrified Hawaiian or any white person from the southern United States to come and talk story/trash with some not-so-local-locals.
The clerk was pretty friendly but followed me around the store after I bought two of the only type of jazz picks they had in stock as if I was going to pocket an amplifier… Won’t be returning.
I suggest ordering online or going to Kihei/Lahaina/any other guitar store for your needs. PROFESSIONAL DJs NEED NOT STOP BY THIS ONE.
Went in to Bounty Music for new Ukelele strings on Christmas Eve. The young man that “assisted” us was incredibly rude! Initially, he was troubled by the fact that there were two wound strings on my ukulele. Then, after not being able to locate the matching set of strings, he stated that he would just “eyeball it”. He became even more rude after the young lady told him to verify by speaking to someone else. He refused. We were so offended, we left. Not enough room to finish my review..
10. Kindworks Music & Art
Address: 79-7401C Hawaiʻi Belt Rd, Kealakekua, HI 96750 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Friendly well stocked music store with great guitar/bass/ukulele repair and maintenance tech, lots of cool instruments, supplies and local art. Good selection of used instruments and they’ll sell yours on consignment! One of the best music stores anywhere, right in my neighborhood.
What a fantastic store right in the heart of the shopping district Randy and the team can take care of all of your music needs. This is a new store and still growing! Already It has a sense of Ohana.
Cool Gifts and more handcrafted art works will be coming soon. Whether you’re musician, Tourist or local stop in it’s worth a visit.
This shop is adorable! There are so many useful things for a musician including high quality instruments, strings, accessories and more. I also love the cute mugs, stickers and bags! Support local small business.
Spent $20 on gas to arrive 30 minutes before close and found out they were already closed….an update on hours would be appreciated.
11. Kamaka Hawai‘i, Inc.
Address: 550 South St, Honolulu, HI 96813 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Recently had a great pleasure working with Tony, Fred Jr, and Eric. They were very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Kamaka Hawaii has a great history, and I strongly recommend here if anyone is interested in purchasing an ukulele. Thank you Kamaka Hawai!!!
Fred Kamaka and sons give a history and full tour of their long running ukulele factory. Tour is free and totally worth it!
995달러부터 주문제작만 받더라구요. 투어는 월~금 오전만, 주말은 쉬구요..
Polite and friendly family business. Wouldn’t buy a ukulele anywhere else.
I brought my ukulele for repairs and it will possibly be months to get it back due to a repair backlog so I can’t comment on that. While there, we were offered a tour. Mr. Fred Kamaka, at 93, presented a lively history of ukulele and the Kamaka brand (in it’s 102nd year!). His son followed with a tour of the factory while explaining techniques and showing us samples of each part of the instrument. Not only was the 1 1/2 hour tour well done, but it was free! I highly recommend a visit!
12. Best Hawaiian Ukulele 2
Address: 358 Royal Hawaiian Ave #2, Honolulu, HI 96815 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
I went home to Michigan with a Uke from this shop, after my wife and I stayed in a nearby hotel during the summer of 2022. Great selection, and even greater service! I can’t recommend this store enough.
Very honest and friendly sales assistants. I’m satisfied with the purchase.
These people are very informative! Very good customer service would definitely recommend getting a ukulele here. They got it all
13. Hawaiian ʻUkulele And Guitar
Address: 212 Kamehameha Ave, Hilo, HI 96720 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
We had a fun time at this shop. They even brought out their smallest ukulele for our baby and we took some very cute pictures.
Great time at Hawaiian Uke and Guitar! We walked in and I was asked if I play, I said yes uncle uke told me the Instruments were no use on the wall and told me to take one off the wall a great experience. Their selection was great and their service was exceptional. They have anything and everything uke they cover every price range and they have a use for every experience level.
Nagyon kedves és vicces a tulajdonos. Megmutat mindent és nagyon profin játszik. Gitárosoknak egy remek hely, hogy ismerkedjenek a vilag legcukibb hangú hangszerével az Ukulelével. 🙂
It’s a nice place and they have good quality.
This is a nice store with a knowledgeable and fun owner. Because of the prime location expect to pay retail prices. You can find cheaper prices if you shop around. I bought from him because he engaged my son and made it fun.
Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because the owner was unavailable to give lessons. He said he’s too busy and looking for a teacher, so things may change. I ended up taking my kids 2 blocks away to Hilo Ukulele and Guitar. Rick there gave the kids low priced lessons and threw some discounts for merchandise.
I guess if that store wasn’t available, I’d give this place a 5 star review. But competition does exist, which is great, so a solid 4 stars from me.
14. ʻUkulele Friend
Address: By Appointment Only, 3555 Harding Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Saw my dream Cornerstone ukulele on their website and couldn’t wait to see it in person. The owner (Shawn) went out of his way to meet me over the weekend and gave me all the time necessary to evaluate the instrument. I felt very welcome and flew back home with my dream ukulele the next day. While I had my mind set on this particular ukulele this place has many custom and one of a kind instruments from the best luthiers in the world. An amazing experience to see and enjoy these instruments first hand.
Saw this place in the Hawaiian Airlines in-flight magazine, Hana Hou Magazine and had to check it out. The showroom is amazing! Very classy feel with some of the best full custom ukuleles in the world and from builders that I never even knew existed. Professional and friendly service and if you’re in to vintage ukes, this place is better than most museums…
15. Just ’Ukes Hawai‘i
Address: 75-5744 Ali‘i Dr #187, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
I saw this little shop when I went to Hawaii and Kona always thought it would be nice to get a ukulele never knew that ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn
Had an awesome time John showed me all the Ukes. Gave great recommendations really took the time to answer all my questions.i recommend any one going to Kona to visit Just ‘Ukes Hawai’i Aloha!
Amazing experience finding the best ukulele. The gentleman who helped us find the right one for my daughter made everything worthwhile and we bought the local Koa wood ukulele and walked out smiling, laughing and full of life.
Many ukes are priced too high for the quality they provide
Small store, mostly low-end ukes, limited selection of accessories. Good for those looking at getting into ukulele. The gentleman that was selling the ukes said he doesn’t play ukulele so you may get the same basic info that you can research online yourself.
A great souvenir stand, and they have a nice selection of decent, B grade, ukuleles. Their prices are fair, the instruments are lovely and more than adequate for all but serious musicians. Even they might choose one here for a knock-around, less than four figure player. Mahalo, from a 2018 buyer.
Huge disappointment. Purchased a ukelele this summer. Clerk made a big deal of tuning it for my daughter. We got it home, took it to a professional string educator and have been told it’s simply for looks. It’s poorly made, so there’s no way to fix it or tune it. The store should have told us this was just for decoration.
Was looking for a Hawaiian made ukulele and salesperson directed us to specific model assuring us without hesitation that this particular one was made in Hawaii, Oahu to be exact. The instrument had no source markings on its internal label so we (naively) took him at his word. Took it home only to find that no, it was not made in Hawaii, it was made in China. The company is a Hawaiian company but some of their instruments, this model in particular, aren’t actually Hawaiian made. Disappointed we were misled.
Be careful! Preferably don’t buy from this shop. They stock a lot of made in China fakes, wood is a Koa laminate, not solid Koa. They are also labeled as Hawaiian guitars, which they are not.
The K symbol when turned sideways does not stand for Kona. It is the brand logo of the Asian manufacturer. If you get a chance Google the price of the model number before buying. Some you will find are twice as expensive in the shop as they should be.
16. Idea’s Music and Books
Address: Parking, lot 670 Auahi St A-6, Honolulu, HI 96813 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Love this store. Good prices on everything and ths staff doesn’t mind me hanging around for two hours flipping through every single peice of merchandise they have and only buying an 8 dollar item. The employee’s and even the store owner were having conversations with apparent regulars . When I went to check out they were freindly to me as well. Have gone multiple times and will be back again. The only thing they could do better is to have more hardware, such as needles or accessories but with amazon around it’s easy to understand why they don’t.
Great place to find older local cd’s
Great shop to look for records, books and comics!
Great place for vinyl use it to fill in the gaps of my collection
Tons of great books and music. Decent, but not amazing, prices.
Impressive collection of christian reading.
Rude ! Way over priced
Sadly this is not the place I once remember. As a used audio place its there, but I remember when it used to be Jelly’s, where the music selection was limitless. I miss sitting through the vinyl records in the electronic section which is almost non-existent now. Sad
You can only sell books here 11-3 Mondays and Thursdays. Impossible if you work.
17. Masaki School of Music
Address: 1347 Kapiolani Blvd Suite #201, Honolulu, HI 96814 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
My son has been taking piano lessons at Masaki School of Music for 3 years now. The school has a long tradition of educating young musicians of all levels, but has excelled at producing many students that have gone on to perform at the highest levels.
The main thing for me is that he enjoys his musical experience. The environment at the school fosters participation with regular recitals, public performance and annual Christmas programs. These are optional but fun. There is ample opportunity for students to interact and compare their personal progress with others.
Masaki School of Music was founded by the legendary Ellen Masaki over 55 years ago. Today her daughter Nancy operates the school. As a professional musician and teacher, she ensures the traditional excellence of the instruction while keeping it engaging for the students.
They have a roster of qualified teachers on staff in order to match the abilities and personalities of the students with the instructors. All of the instructors have years of experience with some of them part of the University faculty. While the school is best known for piano, they have excellent violin, cello, guitar, voice and other music instruction available.
This is a great music school to enroll children to learn the various music instruments. I am so glad I enrolled my son to learn piano. He now is able to read the music notes and play simple pieces. Great school and very talented teachers.
Awesome school, holds my two daughters at a higher standard. I’m very satisfied of their teaching style. Thanks to Ms. Rosy Wong.
Excellent music lessons for children. Flexible hours.
Beware that if the teacher(s) cut the lesson short, the school doesn’t care to address the problem since tuition is prepaid in advance and for certain teachers it is one month in advance. I had complained in writing with no response. You will be trapped with their student withdrawal policy that would trap you for another month if the teacher doesn’t work. COVID policy has not changed bc it’s teacher dependent. They don’t follow the latest general CDC guidelines. This became an issue for my special needs child who refused to mask for the teacher as it’s required for this teacher. So my child got stuck with online lessons. I paid over $10K in tuition to this school and 3 years were done online. He struggled to learn online and did not learn more than 8 songs or so. So that’s over a thousand a song and as a single parent I became deeply bothered. To be in person for the teacher he’s familiar with, my child would have to mask up in person and follow stringent COVID protocol like it was in 2019. My child acted out online and lessons would be cut short with the promise of future make-ups with no definite dates scheduled due to the teacher’s scheduling. There were a few paid lessons that were cut short and now lost forever after I took my child off Masaki. Requesting refund for the tuition prepaid in advance was not easy. Yet to receive any after more than one month. Still waiting and ignored emails. Masaki would only respond to compliments but when there are any problems you are not a concern because they had the money. My child is currently taking lessons from a new teacher. Doing better in person. Learning 2 new songs in one month and tuition is paid after each lesson. No shortened lesson with the new teacher who is extremely patient in person and would give my child 15 to 20 minutes and would only ask for payment for 30 minutes. Buyer beware of the school policy with COVID protocol and prepaid tuition. If you prepay, you’re at risk of limited or zero recourse because full service delivery is not certainty with Masaki.
18. Cremona Violin Hawaii
Address: 1950 Young St Suite 340, Honolulu, HI 96826 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Great selection of violins and the owner Michael was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was definitely the best experience I’ve had with Honolulu violin shops. Thank you again for your help and good luck with growing the business.
Michael was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information with us. Shop is well stocked with instruments as well as accessories. Everything from beginners to advanced. We picked up a violin for our son and we’ll be visiting again in the future!
As a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra and in my own travel around the globe I have come across many violin shops and makers. I can say without hesitation that Cremona Violin Hawaii should be a top destination for string players, whether in need of an instrument or repair. Michael Wong maintains all instruments in top condition with obvious care and attention to details. He carries a wide selection of excellent instruments reasonably priced and is an extremely kind and attentive individual. I very highly recommend for every string player to stop by Cremona Violin Hawaii to try instruments and consider purchasing your next string instrument there.
19. Mele Ukulele Wailuku
Address: 1750 W Kaahumanu Ave, Wailuku, HI 96793 , Şadad , Hawaii , United States
Great place to shop for Ukuleles. They have knowledge and experience, and can help you find exactly what you need. Recommended.
Very friendly and helpful place
Great place to buy your ukulele. Very knowledgeable folks work here and enjoy talking to their customers. Very willing to help and make sure you get just what you need.
Very nice music store.
Loved hearing Koa test out an awesome tenor ukulele from here.
I was excited to buy a nice ukulele for once. I spent $400 thinking the ukulele I bought would be great. The same day I bought it, without any chance to play, the peg broke. I asked if it could get it fixed by the time my flight left, and they did. When I went to pick it up they made me wait a half hour even though my ukulele was sitting right there. I asked if there was any way I could either get my money back, get a new ukulele, or if they could check to see that none of the other pegs would break. I’m writing this because they responded with oh no you’re peg won’t break again, that’s super rare. But Im back home now and just had a second peg break, different peg from the first one that broke. I am a very kind and patient person but I do not appreciate this kind of service and I hope there is some way they can reconcile for an absurd amount of money paid for a low quality instrument.

Great instructor. Reasonable prices for beginners so a person or your child can see if they are interested in playing the guitar. I can’t say enough about this guy offering guitar lessons, who he is as a person.
Great music instructor. A very friendly, kind, and effective teacher.
