There are few people I have met with more knowledge about vintage instruments. And Chris usually has a few on sale along with more contemporary choices. The selection is always changing, so I stop in when I can.
Great meeting my good friend Jeffrey Smith’s cousin Chris at his shop. Cute guitar shop. Glad it worked out while we were in Salida!!!
Great little shop in Salida. The proprietor is honest and forthcoming and has some real vintage gems in there. When there’s a 1964 Gibson SG hanging between an 1870s Martin & a 1950s uke you know you’re in the right place. Dude’s got taste and very fair pricing.
Chris was very helpful and accommodating even if i was a day early for his shipment…
I drove over an hour and a half to salida to go this shop and nothing else. I got there, and they were closed at least two hours early. Better call before you go, apparently they don’t keep the hours they post.

Tucked into downtown Salida is a guitar shop like none I’ve ever seen. Hard to say if the instruments tone or aesthetics is more beautiful. Add to that one of the friendliest shop owner/craftsman you could ever meet and you’ve got this place.
Wow! We used one of Jeff’s baritone guitars and one of his dreadnaught guitars in the studio and they provided such a beautifully rich and balanced sound. Such a warm and present sound . And although they’re not as good looking as Jeff, they don’t look to shabby either 😉 Soon you’ll be able to hear them for yourself on The Runaway Grooms new album ‘Tied to the Sun’. Thanks Jeff!
Amazing place and the skill Jeff puts into the guitars he builds is just remarkable.
Hands down the best in the buisness Doc knows SLIDES ! One hell of an artist and great human being , quality craftsmanship at its best slide into a Rocky Mountan Slide for a smooth ride !
I so proud to be fully endorsed and part of the roster artist of The Rocky Mountain Slides & Picks family.
I’ve known Doc a few years now and was introduced to him by Rob Taylor (CA). I now consider Doc to be a good friend and fellow musician.

Very good and affordable collection of 19th century antique. Rick, the owner, is very knowledgable and very pleasant to talk too. Highly recommended the place.
My boyfriend and I stopped at the pub in Saguache and decided to take a peek inside this antique store. Rick was very kind and helpful and let us wander around at our own pace.
There were a bunch of used records in the back of the store. Rick said they were his girlfriend’s records, and let me tell you, his girlfriend has an AMAZING taste in music. We found Led Zeppelin II for $20, along with several others. Rick is going to price some more records for us and encouraged us to come back soon to pick them up.
Overall, a wonderful experience. People should really check this place out!
7. Blue Mesa Music Store
Address: 132 N Main St, Gunnison, CO 81230 , Saguache County , Colorado , United States
Thank you Matt for getting my little Fender set up so well. I really do hear hints of Buddy Guy now when I play. I appreciate having you as a local resource, mentor and friend. PS..Christine says a big, deep hello.
Blue Mesa Music is Class Act store!! I have never felt so welcome in store as I did with Blue Mesa. The staff and owner are all gifted musicians whom are passionate with their profession. Blue Mesa is a “come in, kick off your shoes and play a melody or two. My family sat, played a beautiful 12 string (purchased), deep, rich Cajone (purchased), rattle (purchased) and sang (owned) for well over an hour topped off by Amelia singing and playing a song for us. Blue Mesa Music was one the highlights of Summer of 2022 !
Music is a Rx for PTSD . I got my fix here❤️
Just wanted to give a shout out to Daryl and Matt over at Blue Mesa Music Store. They were able to order us everything that we wanted for our family Christmas presents and matched online pricing! Highly recommend those guys. Shop local! Especially at your local music shop!

Very nice people there they know lots about instruments.
Great guitars, great owner, terrific customer service
There’s not a big selection, but this is a small town. The selection they do have are quality guitars.
My comments echo most others’… “Cute” shop, and several very high end (used) guitars. The miniscule selection is not surprising, since (our first visit) it seems to be a small, tourist focused town. We visited midday on a Saturday, and there was only 1 other couple who came in after us. We were not greeted, nor offered help; we didn’t feel welcome. As we were not acknowledged nor engaded at all, I couldn’t tell you the knowledge base of the staff. I even lingered at a great looking Fender that would cost more than my Jeep, and nobody came to say hello. You’ll never know if I’m the customer who came in with several thousand dollars’ cash to spend. (I’m quite happy with the 3 guitars I have at home) 3 stars because I saw several interesting guitars, a big selection of ukes, a cello, some violins, and 2 mandolins.
9. The Music Shoppe
Address: 136 E Pagosa St #11, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147 , Saguache County , Colorado , United States
Carl rented me a digital keyboard for five days while I was in town for a vacation. He charged fifteen dollars a day, but waived the first and last days because they were “partial.” I’m very grateful to him for accommodating me and trusting me with the instrument. His store seems cozy and well-stocked. It’s located on the hill west of the old town and can easily be spotted (on the north side of 160) by the cluster of bright red roofs at the edge of the woods. Stop in and see what he can do for you.
For a small town, this place is amazing. The owner knows so much and has helped me as an artist. Nice instruments for good prices. But this time I only needed some drum sticks, that where less than expected, I may add.
Carl has opened a beautiful new shop!
Very knowledgeable, nice selection .
Musical equipment is overpriced amazon deals from Christmas. Owner is a nice guy, but was clearly just trying to sell more expensive items over cheaper arguably better ones. “Handmade” strings snapped within the hour, I have a hard time believing the Ernieball strings would have any problem. Sadly though I listened to the worker who assured me that they were the worst. Overall I recommend just driving to Durango you’d end up saving money and not being treated as if you haven’t been playing guitar correctly your entire life.
10. The Village Pub, Pizza & Spirits
Address: 401 4th St, Saguache, CO 81149 , Saguache County , Colorado , United States
The food here is continuously getting better and better. The staff are wonderful and the environment feels very comfortable.
Great staff, wonderful food!
Nice atmosphere at this locals’ hangout. The calzone and pizza are divine. The desserts are great. The spinach artichoke dip is the best I’ve had anywhere. Service is very good.
Great wait staff. Fast service. Cold sitting by door
Friendly atmosphere. Pasta was cold, but pizza was very good.
It’s okay. Haven’t tried but two items.
Cheese cake slices getting smaller and prices getting bigger smh
Ordered the lumberjack only got 1 bread stick completely soggy and the pasta was terrible you could save money and buy a TV dinner pasta it’d be better than what you get here 2nd ti.e trying this place 1st ti.e was pizza and it was Terrible aswell red sauce is garbage here diners beware
I had a custom guitar built from the ground up. Dan worked with me on all the details from selecting several different wood species, to the custom inlays. I couldn’t be happier with it. It sounds amazing, and is a beautiful piece of art that I love playing!
Dan made a custom guitar for me that is beautiful. The craftsmanship is top notch and stays in tune. I play this guitar daily and perform live with it weekly. However, the best part is the sound. It is well balanced with clean high notes and a deep low notes. The sound comes out like a canon, just the way I like. Highly recommend getting a guitar from Dan.

Always great music, best little venue. 6 stars really
Such a nice place. The concerts are so intimate and personal. Love it.
Great place to see and hear live music. Look up streaming Steve’s at grassroots tv.org .Every Fridaynight 7:30-9ish.(on YouTube) you honestly don’t know who you will see.
It’s ok
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.

Very helpful I really like having a music store in wp
It is so nice having a music store in woodland park, not having to go to the springs. I was restringing my guitar and broke a peg, went to Rock N Roll and they had it, What a life savor. Very friendly, nolegible and good prices too. Thanks Ron
I had an old guitar that I needed a string for. Hector was personable and quick to help me. He took my guitar and changed ALL the strings for me, and then ALSO fixed the bridge at no extra cost.. What a guy. It’s nice to have a family run business in woodland park with personable and knowledgeable people running it.
I had a horrible experience at this store. The lady at the counter found 2 seconds to get off her phone to say hello and then proceeded to stay on her phone the remainder of the time I was in the store and ignored me as I greeted her and asked her how her day was going. The store had very little to look at but I did happen to find a guitar pedal that I’ve been searching for a while. When I asked if I could test it she seemed annoyed I made her take time away from her phone and she then asked in a rude tone am I going to buy one. I was confused at her tone and replied yes. She then proceeded to put on a fake smile but the damage was done. When she asked which one I told her I was no longer interested and left the store. This store needs to retrain there people on customer service.
Response to review:
Hi there, my name is Shannon the owner of Rocky n Roll Music. I am also the person you wrote about in this review. We are a small business owned and operated by my husband and I, and do not tolerate misinformation about our business. You are clearly a reviewer looking to damage small businesses.
You should consider shopping at big box corporate retailers instead of attempting to damage our small business that has an outstanding reputation within our community.
Response to comment from owner:
If this is misinformation then why did you not make it a point to defend yourself against any of the points I stated? You being a local mom and pop business does not make you immune to bad criticism when you give customers a bad experience. I’ve worked in retail for a number of years and try and go out of my way to support local business. This is extremely unprofessional to reply to complaints in this manner. Playing the victim after a negative interaction on your part is not becoming of you. I do wish your business the best of luck with all of your endeavors but I hope you can take this review with a grain of salt and do better with your customer service.
Hours say they are open online. Darkness. Will get my gear in springs tomorrow.

Such an awesome store- grabbed a few records, some of the best tinned fish (definitely the best stock i’ve seen!) and sipped on some local beer… all while getting great tips on local food and activities. Must stop for all those in the area!
Stoped into this shop today driving through town today on a whim and ended up picking up some killer albums. They actually have an amazing selection and the dude that helped me out was super cool and helpful I totally recommend stopping by.
Beer, music, paul. Not much else to say
