Great staff, and great work on my horn. As always, consistent and quality work.
Quick fix and mine was free
Robert has worked on my tubas for years and I’m always happy with the results. Their entire crew knows what they’re doing.
Did excellent work on my old trombone, very nice people!
Very helpful and informative
I came in with a horn to have repairs done to it. I needed to have my saxophone’s neck recorked. I needed additional repairs, but above all needed the recorking. The repairman came up, looked at the instrument brand and said he could do nothing for me because if he broke something, he would have to make a part. I thanked him and walked out. I thought by the ratings that this would be a location with skilled craftsmen, but instead feel like it’s people prone to mistakes so they can only work on standard brands and not all instruments. I’d consider calling before coming. They are the only place around for quite a distance and driving over 60 miles to be treated like this felt very awful!
2. Mountain View Music
Address: 123 W Washington St, Mountain View, AR 72560 , Saint-Marc , Arkansas , United States
I had fallen on it years ago and everyone I took it to in Boston said it couldn’t be fixed or wasn’t worth it. Devastating news… Scott had it finished really quick considering the amount of work and they were more than fair with the price. They also have some really unique and rare instruments come through the store.
They have a great community in Mountain View and Scott and Cha’s music store is a huge part of it. It was really nice to sit in the shop and chat while the locals came in to play tunes on the porch and the school kids all have their lessons.
Fixed broken neck on my guitar put new strings on and also had a tuner. We also picked up a new guitar for our granddaughter. Great workmanship , plenty of supplies, and good selection of new and used instruments. Check this place out if get a chance.
Friendly people. A pleasure to talk to.
Always injoybale
Friendly and very helpful . big range of instalments to pick from I give it 4 stars.
Broke a string? Lost your pick? Need instrument repairs? THE place to go!
Rude and very hateful people. I have been going here for more than 10 years and I will never go back, and be treated in such a rude manner.
3. Back Beat Music
Address: 613 Southwest Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401 , Saint-Marc , Arkansas , United States
Back Beat is such a great locally owned music shop. Great customer service and tons of gear!
Great variety of instruments and offers guitar lessons
Super friendly folks that go out of their way to help you find the instrument you’re looking for. The owner Greg is a heck of a guy and also a great drummer in his own right. Always had positive experiences shopping with this store.
I have been coming here for years as most of the reviewers. I have always had a decent experience. I’m just an amateur guitar player who doesn’t practice much and i don’t know much about music. I have to be fair and mention that, yes, the staff has at times, seemed curt and disinterested but I’ve never had an out-and-out bad experience here. It’s possible that they were simply just distracted or overwhelmed, it happens! I got lessons here from a swell guy several years ago. I wish i could remember his name. They seem to have a large variety of items like accessories-tuners, picks, strings, stands for your chords, chord books, guitar cases and guitars. They offer stringing services, although I’ve never used them. I think I’ve seen a few banjos and mandolins for sale over the years, although those may have been instruments taken on trade, i don’t know for a fact if they stock and sell those instruments. I also don’t know if they do trade-in as I’ve never had anything to trade. I have seen ukuleles there for sale. It is possible that they have expanded the lessons they offer into other instruments, such as wind instruments but I am not sure. That would depend entirely upon there being any such instructors available here in Jonesboro that don’t already have their own business giving lessons. That’s a lot of “maybes”. It would be good to call and just ask, if this is important to you. I do know that they used to give drum lessons, it’s possible they still do. If you are a musician or have a musician in your life, check this place out!
Great place to shop,
However one small issue I had there was when I was wanting to repair my Fender Guitar. The guitar was beat up a bit, had no strings, paint was damaged, and the knobs for the tuning were gone and the plate was cracked. My friend found it in an abandoned place and it was a decent guitar it was just badly damaged.
I went there to the receptionist and all I got was, “You are better off buying a new guitar” Etc. He was insistent on me just buying a new guitar. It was a very arrogant moment.
There are good thing’s about the place but from my only experience on this It was a huge waste of my time trying to repair, love the shop, the staff is pretty chill but I believe there can be changes.
I usually do not write reviews about businesses, but I had to about this store. The customer service is absolutely horrid. There staff is arrogant and condescending. If you have any questions about a product, do not be surprised if they are rude and treat you like you do not know what you are talking about. They do not have that bad of a selection for a store that size, but all there items are overpriced. If you are looking to buy a reasonably priced product, buy it online from somewhere like Amazon or Sweetwater, and save yourself from a bad experience.
If you are looking to do a trade in, be prepared for them to give you as little money as possible. You might as well sell it online or sell it to a pawn shop. You will earn more money that way. They will find the lowest price online of the item you are buying, and that is what they will offer you. It does not matter how bad the condition of the product online is, or what condition your item is in.
This is one of the only local music shops in Jonesboro besides Allstar Music. I will not be returning to Back Beat Music. If you are trying to decide whether or not shop there, I will save you time: DO NOT! It is almost worth driving to Memphis to buy a product. I know this review seems very one sided, but I can not think of a single good experience I have had there. I wish there was something good I could say, but there is simply not.
Yeah, I like the shop, but didn’t have the best experience. I brought my classical guitar in from out of town, and called first to specifically ask if they could restring with nylon wound. I brought another electric guitar in as well, since it needed new strings too. When I picked them up, they were both restrung, but my classical guitar was restrung with steel strings, not what I asked. They said they were out of nylon strings, but that these would work. It really changed the whole sound, and was not what I wanted. They didn’t show me the package, or indicate what type of strings for either guitar, but the invoice for both was almost $100! No set up, or anything, just a re-string. And I have no idea what they put on there. I guess it’s probably my fault that I have no time to put on my own strings, so let that be a lesson to me.
Been going here for almost a decade. Probably the most condescending and overall lackluster service you can get in Jonesboro. If you’re a musician and you have a question, prepare for a rough time. Great inventory, bad pricing.
I’m being harsh with my rating, but in my defense I’ve been here at least thirty times in my life and have some terrible stories to go along with my dissatisfaction. There are things that you just do not do in customer service.
Sadly enough, the decent music stores have all closed up. Backbeat and All star are all we really have left and they are equally bad.
EDIT: Not sure if All Star is still open actually; don’t let that diminish my credibility. I avoid these places like the plague.
4. Quattlebaum Music Center
Address: 101 W Arch Ave, Searcy, AR 72143 , Saint-Marc , Arkansas , United States
Great place to get your guitar worked on or buy a new guitar or amp
thank you for helping us choose a guitar and harmonica for our children
Always helpful and very knowledgeable
Nice store….for yyyyeeaaarrss!!!lol
Small, quiet, local run music store. Good prices and owned by a knowledgeable friendly man who is happy to answer your questions. I’ll definitely be returning.
This is a long time local favorite. It’s a cool little music store. Good customer service. Has guitars, violin/fiddle, cello, bass, etc.
They are selling stolen property.
Very rude to my wife and all she did was ask a queston please don’t do business with these people we don’t need rude people in this town.
Great home town store
5. Saied Music Co
Address: 2880 Point Cir, Fayetteville, AR 72704 , Saint-Marc , Arkansas , United States
I’ve bought two instruments for my daughter here. Quality instruments, fair prices, easy to do business with.
Great little music shop right off I-49. They have much more in the way of accessories for musicians, but they do sell instruments. If you need it, they’ll typically have it.
Perfect place for valve oil, slide grease and stuff like that. They have somebody who speaks in spanish which is also a plus.
The repair guys are always fantastic!
I don’t have much for you compared the store to so I can’t say I’d give it five stars but why not four. It was just a quick and easy trip where I was looking for a cowbell and wasn’t a hundred percent what to look for. There was a guy there who helped me I forget his name but he didn’t hesitate and I got what I needed.
Pretty great selection of instruments, however I felt extremely awkward with the staff and felt like my questions were intrusions. You could chalk this up to me just being anxious, but I would have much more appreciated an employee who could recommend stuff to me, and willing to help me find what I’m looking for. I’ll be going to A different shop to get what I need
Awful service. Bought strings for my guitar, and since im not very good at putting them on and they were the most expensive strings, i left my guitar for them to put the strings on for me bc they said theyd do it for free and that they would call me within a day or so. I waoted almsot a week and figured that i must have missed the call and went there to get my guitar. They hadnt even touched it and told me that it would be several more days before they could get to it. I just went ahead and took my guitar. Never getting my business again im just gonna go to guitar center.
When I got there I was excited to be buying a ukulele something I’ve been wanting since I was little and when I asked how much taxes were because $82 up from the $54 seemed outrageous the man said idk and didn’t even check it just took an extra $21 and when I was asking questions about other instruments he had. No information literally making me. Still waiting on the money to be back in my account had to go to bed hungry tonight
