Brian is brilliantly awesome!! He brought me back to life, by bringing life back into my funky-old, seen-better-days, beat-up Yamaha Acoustic guitar.

He quickly put new strings and tuned, all while engaging in a sincere conversation. (And I talk a lot of you let me, yikes 🙂 He is a heartfelt old soul for sure. Make sure you get to meet him when you visit their store.

I was having to tune two-three times during one song; super frustrating. Now I am able to pick up my guitar daily or after several days, and find it was STILL IN TUNE!! (Even after TAzZ the dogger bumped it over)

I WILL be back, probably for my next guitar or amp. They have everything!! Go have a look…you won’t regret. (Not a fake ad and I don’t work for them, lol) It was truly a great experience, especially in the hard days we currently live in.

Small shop with a large selection of sheets/tabs, a selection of guitars/ukuleles, and a room for music lessons in the back. Went in looking to see if they had any amps. Staff there at the moment (piano player & oboe player) were not knowledgeable about guitars or amps, but I got help from other guitar players who were hanging out there. I found an amp that I liked, but it didn’t have a price tag or box with it, so I asked the oboe player (don’t remember name… Max? young guy) about the price. He immediately started looking for the box/price in the guitar section and in the back, and then he got on the phone for a while to ask someone about it. Eventually he found out that the price was normally $110, but the box was still missing. Because of the box missing, they knocked the price down to $90! I appreciated him spending so much time helping me, and the discount they gave. Overall a good experience. Might come back for lessons!

So-so. They didn’t have 2A 250V fuse for a Fender Amp. Poor selection of instruments. Other than that, the staff guy was very knowledgeable and helpful.

They are a great local store with some friendly and helpfull staff. The music lessons and instrument rentals are very reasonable and their instructors are encouraging and patient.

Just stopped by because I needed some drumsticks, literally the worst and most limited selection of drumsticks I have seen in a music store. This is why people buy online or go to guitar center.

Called ahead to make sure this store had the drum sticks my son needed for band. They confirmed they had them and quoted me $30-40. I drove all the way from Escondido in traffic to get them. Upon arrival the clerk informs me that she misquoted me and the sticks are actually $50 and they wouldn’t honor the quote. As a musician and a previous music instrument store clerk, I can say with certainty that this kind of behavior will make Music Central and any other store like them the newest victim of GC in no time.

Ordering my new instrument was easy and the store response was speedy, they kept in touch right up receiving my order. Now to play with my new ukulele and test it out. It looks fabulous and I believe it will bring me many hours of pleasure. I think I may have to change the strings but that is personal preference. Thank you Terry Carter.

Well product said ukelele humidification system and ended up just humidification pouches that are way too big for ukelele sound hole only able to put in case with instrument wasn’t really what I was looking for thought they’d be smaller I’ll use till I find something better like Dadario guitar type with humidity pouches shipping was kinda slow also I guess their a bit smaller than guitar ones not much though

The shop is overpriced and the owner is shady as hell. If you even do the most basic of comparison shopping, you’ll see how much he’s trying to take advantage of ukulele players.

Carter’s NOT the only game in town and uke players deserve better.

I have never had a bad experience here. Everyone is super helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and honest. Kevin Smith and Brian Disney over in the drums and brass and woodwind are always polite and pleasure to work with.

Michael is very knowledgeable about all the instruments in the store. He honest about the quality of the products as well. Michael and everyone in the store, (by observation) are friendly. No pressure at all.

I went to the big snobby g/center and got no help at all but when I went to Sam ash the ppl were happy to help me and I bought two ukuleles 🙂 I’m a happy shopper….

Several friends and family members have purchased equipment from Sam Ash and my two children have just started taking piano lessons from Colin. It is always fun going in and my kids have a great time checking out all the instruments. I’ve been to other music stores where the employees were condesending and pretentious – not here! All the people I have encountered are friendly and very helpful.

I recommend checking this place out. Service was really great

No prices on items without asking. High end acoustics being scratched up by idiots with no customer assistance.
I Asked questions about some gear, and the burn-out-stoner-wanna-be-rock-star employee just wandered off.
Guitar Center is the worst music store on earth……I hope Sam Ash isn’t trying to emulate them ….smh.

This place is horrible, I placed an order over the phone they charged my card. Told me I was going to receive an email confirmation shortly, waited for 7 hours. Then called to check on the order to find out is not even in stock and there was a error. And the manager is like ” what do you want me to do ?” Well, we all need you to the job you get paid for and update your inventory. Seriously stop wasting people’s time. Save yourself some disappointment and some time and buy your gear at serous business somewhere else where that actually value you as client.

Trust me just go to Guitar Center. Customer service sucks, I’ve spent thousands of dollars here but not here any longer. Their products they sell are all out dated. They have all the old versions of everything none of the new ones. Not spending a dollar at this place ever again!!! – Nick B.

Better than Guitar Center..

Place is cluttered with old equipment and guitars being worked on to the point where it feels unsafe to walk around to look at guitars on display. As for the guitars on display their all out of tune, dusty and not setup so they don’t feel playable. The man working the front seemed knowledgeable but reluctant to try and sell anything or help find guitars that weren’t up on display. Selection of gear seems limited/ used and or ill-maintained. Amps could not be tested because guitar lessons were taken place in the other room that must not have been sound proofed. I can’t speak for how good the guitar lessons are but as for the rest of the shop it seemed neglected and appeared to have no interest in selling any gear.

The owner of this store is the worst I’ve ever seen at any music store I’ve been to. I asked him to setup my guitar specifically to a lower tuning which he had no problem with and a full setup. The thing was, I was considering selling this guitar and possibly trading in for another one. So this guy gives me the offer that if I don’t like his setup, and it’s not perfect, I could trade mine for one of his on the wall. I said that’s a good idea because I barely had any money at the time. After the job the guitar had horrible tuning stability, dead frets, and a notch in one of the frets he told me that made the guitar unsellable and he wouldn’t touch it. Unbelievable I try to take it over and over again to get him to do the job right and he says the guitar isn’t meant for lower tunings. Maybe it would’ve been better to mention that at first. Pathetic. Waste your money elsewhere if you’re a sensible person

The shop leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve only dealt with the repair side of the shop, and after the last incident, I won’t be returning. The greying owner is of little to no value. Unhelpful. I brought a piece of gear to get fixed back in September or October of 2020. After about 4 weeks, I called the repair guy and he hadn’t yet looked at it. Understandable as he said they were busy. Another 4 weeks go by and I still hadn’t heard anything back, so I decide to call. The repairman had taken a look, couldn’t quite figure out the problem and said he’d be able to drop it off in a week as he just did a drop off and told me he tried to call me. When? I received no calls from him, no missed calls, nothing! I called this shop multiple times. Showed up 3 times between December 2020 and February 2021 during hours posted and nothing. Lights out. No sign. Nothing. Finally, after roughly 6 months of waiting to pick up my still broken gear, I called and finally got through to someone. He stated they were open till 6 and I told him I could be there by 545 and he said, “Well, I have things to do later” as if he wasn’t planning on even staying open that late.

Would’ve appreciated any sort of updates on the status of my gear instead of having to jump through hoops to figure out what was going on. Poor communication, rude service.

Great new store for Guitars and other string instruments. Had a wonderful experience and purchased exactly what I needed.

San Diego Music is a great resource for buying sheet music, getting instruments and other supplies, and for group music lessons. Robin Sassi, the store owner, and Kimberly Deverell, Director of Educational Development and Advocacy, are amazing women and do so much for music in the community.

This is a one stop shop for all your musical instrument needs. It has separate rooms for music lessons. Oh, and the teachers are wonderful and patient. They have a great selection of band instrumental rentals. Very reasonably priced! And they have anything and everything under the sun. They also do instrument repairs too. We bought our clarinet in and the work they did was superb!

Update 9/28 – Ryan called to apologize and made things right. In light of that I have upgraded the rating to 4 stars. Often times it’s not the mistake, but the reaction and I think Ryan did a good job resolving the issue.

The customer service for the rental is horrible. Bliss was terribly rude. I had an auto debit for a rental and I had that for a couple of years. The bank issued me a new card and it had lapsed. That happened in the past and they would call. This last time I got a new call saying it was two months past, but I never got a call for the first month, or an email, and she couldn’t do anything to waive the late fees, which were $15 for a $19 a month rental (79% of the rental cost). All because they couldn’t call or send and email. Sounds like their business model is to just make their money on the late fees rather than be reasonable.

We were looking to get a flute repaired and visited this location, having heard good experiences from others and being quoted a quick turnaround for the repair over the phone. Unfortunately, our service experience was rather disappointing. The staff present seemed inexperienced in working with customers. We were told they required a $20 for a same-day evaluation of the instrument, which we agreed to as the repair was urgent. However, the staff came back afterwards saying the instrument required “General Adjustments” (for which we were quoted a charge of $95), without explaining what was wrong with the instrument. The staff didn’t make much of an attempt to understand what was wrong with the instrument or provide clarification when we asked what exactly what was going to be fixed.

We came back a few days later when the instrument was ready for pick up, and the issue we were facing was not fixed! After this, we talked with one of the mechanics there and explained the issue, and they were able to identify the issue and repair the instrument, rather quickly in fact! Had we been able to do this from the beginning, we could have saved a lot of time and headache.

We will not be returning to this location for future repairs.

Wow, what a fantastic business staffed by highly skilled and dedicated individuals. I attended the Taylor Guitar presentation and found myself swept away by the GS Mini, which four days later I ended up purchasing from the Music Mart. Never experienced any pressure or sales speak. I’m thrilled with the guitar and with my new association with this terrific business.

Went in today on a Sunday. Was greeted and welcomed by the manger owner. Great customer service, I was allowed to play any guitar I wanted. I appreciated he gave me recommendations but also space to play and hear and look for the sounds I was looking for. Highly recommend this store. I ended up walking out with my first Martin guitar.

Coming here was one of our favorite parts of our trip. Awesome ukulele selection and extremely kind and knowledgeable staff. You guys are awesome!

Good place but they don’t carry fender products so

Terrible service. They can’t stay focused on helping the next customer. Nice shop and nice people, but was very disappointed in the service (or lack of) that I received. I got passed over for other customers several times. Not good.

They won’t help you find little things because they work commission so if you need help you had better be there to spend money. The gentlemen who finally helped me was irritated and super rude. Will be taking my business elsewhere.

Walked around for 20 minutes just waiting for someone to ask me if I needed any help but guess what. Nothing. Most of the guys that were near the entrance just kept looking at me as if I wasn’t there. Just horrible customer service.
