Great prices and amazing service!
I was surprised by the inventory of this shop. They have great selection of string instruments, guitars, wind instruments! Large selection of music sheets, accessories are available. Whether I am fixing my instruments, upgrading or getting gift for a music enthusiast they are very accommodating and helpful.
There’s also music lessons available. It’s a one stop where all the music needs are met.
loved the place and staff!
Robert is a great instructor, knowledable staff and very friendly.
Patrick the owner is a great guy. He knows the various schools and school districts in the Fresno area and he knows how to size your child up with the right instrument for the school district they are in.
Great staff greeted me once I came in the door.
they don’t answer the phone
3. Yosemite Street Music
Address: 929 N Yosemite St, Stockton, CA 95203 , San Joaquin , California , United States
Great owner! And he goes the extra mile for his customers!
The staff was very helpful and ready to assist our needs also have available music lessons ☺️
Pretty nice store though plenty could disagree
Nice staff
Nice place and very helpful. Were able to replace strings on my left handed bass when I didnt know how.
I just keep calling and they don’t answer and last time I was there I didn’t see a closed sign and the door was looked. I don’t want to leave a bad review but I just have to.
Went there at 1:30. It said online that it was open at 1.
A guy was in there but didn’t answer the door when we knocked.
So I called and left a text and still, no answer.
Guess we’ll be going to Visalia.
It’s a nice little store and all, but the employees are rude as they can be. I recommend driving to visalia to guitar center, so they can give you the actual respect and give you everything you need without being rude.
5. Gottschalk Music Center
Address: 328 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, CA 93612 , San Joaquin , California , United States
Always the best of service and quality of instruments. Excellent
Great customer service, great prices, great atmosphere, I highly recommend
I needed a string on my violin replaced. They did it in 10 minutes. Super easy and quick.
Very helpful and knowledgeable
Great place. Has been in the community forever. It’s mostly a store to sell instruments and give music lessons. Teachers are hot and miss. Some good some not. Has shrunk the amount of sheet music and books. Plus the personnel has a lack of knowledge regarding their music and instruments.
I was there for four items and unfortunately only able to purchase 2
They NEVER return a phone call or call when repairs are ready.
Good Afternoon, I dropped my daughter’s trumpet off August 19, 2019. I was told by the staff, the instrument would be ready Friday, August 23. I stopped pass the music store, Monday morning, August 26, to get a status on the instrument. I was told the trumpet was not ready. I called Tuesday afternoon, August 27, and was told the trumpet was not ready. I am a value costumer, who value other people time and would like the same in return. Unfortunately, it does not happen. If the instrument was not going to be ready for pick-up on the day provided by the staff (Friday 23 August), courtesy calls should be made informing the customer a status on their “drop off” instruments. More than a week has past, the instrument has not been touched or cleaned. Gottschalk Music Store customer service skills are being executed poorly and unprofessional.
The work done to the violin was completed the next day that was good but the hospitality was the worst. My daughter had an emergency, she needed to find a bathroom, guick. The young man said no she could not use theirs and directed her down the street. This just broke my heart. My daughter would have had an accident had it not been for the understanding people at the restaurant across the street.
6. Bill’s Music On The Mile
Address: 2312 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204 , San Joaquin , California , United States
Super sweet and nice customer service Favorite music store in Stockton
En bill’s music encuentras cualquier cable que nesecites.bosinas powered amp y mucho mas.y ademas un trato muy amable.
#family business #small business . The guys that run this shoppe are the best! Super helpful and unlike the old regime. The manager usually means the front while the owner does repairs. The selection is not large but the service makes up for it. Especially recommended for instrument rentals and school instrument repair.
I went to this place because I have a Ukelele to fix it. I believe the owner help me whit it and I how this place has diferente instrument, and he rent too. If he do not have something he can orther for you. Nice place!
Three stars because its local and dindt want to hurt em with the 1.5 star I feel Is deserved for this work. Might be different for other services.
Here is why:
Sadly, my loving wife took my professional trumpet bell to them for a bent bell repair as a birthday present.
The store repairman was shocked that I dismantled the bell from the rest of the $2500 professional model horn.
He didnt know that I’m building a custom horn.
He was just disgusted.
Well first of all it’s my horn to do what I like with, I didn’t buy from them!
I was excited to have a “professional” fix the bent bell and dinged mark’s because they would do a better job than me! I understood that there would be crease mark’s from the repair. I didnt expect scratches a d uneven repair and dents to be left in.
I play professionally part time and am building a custom two bell trumpet from and out of other exspensive trumpets. I want a pro horn when Imdone and am using pro horns I like, to build it out of! I e worked with metal and am proficient in welding and soldering.
$32 to fix the bell was very reasonable! I’ve been quoted $50 elsewhere and have seen great work for that price in Oakland and they even cleaned and polished for that price.
But finally got my bell back today and the work I see is not great. It will all have to be redone.
It looks to me that no pride in workmanship was taken and his disgust in my taking the horn apart was perceived as not caring.
I fricking care a lot!
Complete waste of time and money. And no I dont want to go back and give em a chance to make the bell worse.
Tried to give local store work and keep it in my town. But dont take a pro brass instrument to a guitar shop and expect to have quality work done.
Now I’ll have to ship it out someplace probably out of state because the guy in Oakland retired.
My project delayed now even longer!
Terrible employees who dont know about guitars or any instruments in general. These guys walk around looking like tools and douche bags acting like their gods its seriously pathetic how big their ego is. If any of you are thinking of going here simply because its nearby, avoid it
Rude…Rude… Rude..
Called for pricing for renting instruments for my child and spoke to so rude. Acted like I was bothering him instead of excited to offer information to potential customers.
this store is really bad they guy is racist and also has bad quality products
7. Clancy’s Music
Address: 7303 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95207 , San Joaquin , California , United States
The hit up music place in Stockton great prices with the nicest people
Great insight into music and a great source to find instruments and learning tools. Normally i go to music-go-round and they’re awesome and they sent me to Clancys to find what i was looking for. I recommend both but if you need books, Clancys has them.
very kind!
For the longest time, I thought Mr. Cs was a magician’s store. Turns out I was fooled and it ended up being a music store. Either they really are magicians or this is a legit music store.
As of August 2019
Mr. C’s in no longer here, it’s now Clancy’s Music
I had a wonderful experience here and I recommend it for your instrumental needs, great prices, great customer service, thank you Clancy Ferril for all your help.
Generally quick service for simple repairs and fair prices. Used instruments for reasonable prices. But selection is limited for anything not guitar or ukulele.
I wouldn’t rent anything from MR CS and give them your debit card or credit card number to have on file tell he trains his employees right.
I had two issues with them pulling more money out then should have with no calls made to me Ron took it upon himself to handle without calling me.
This last time he did two withdrawals and claim it was his employees fault but yet he said he did the second transaction himself. He said he reversed it but bank is saying no if it’s not back come Monday my bank will be going after him for both charges because he over charged me.
His customer service isn’t all that great.
Guitar
Horrible customer service.
8. JT’s Music
Address: 325 Clovis Ave #101, Clovis, CA 93611 , San Joaquin , California , United States
JT’s is an excellent choice for your music equipment and repair needs. Dan has been working on my guitars for over 20 years. Does outstanding work at a reasonable price!
I brought in a few guitars needing some care. Dan is quick, competent, courteous, and his prices are very reasonable. Can’t ask for much more than that. I strongly recommend this place and will certainly be returning in the future.
Great guys, and the work they did on my amp was reasonably priced and turned out great. I had an amp that hadn’t been plugged in for 20 years and there was a ton of static and some things wouldn’t even work. For $80 it’s back as good as new. It was finished under their proposed deadline too. Great guys!
Took my amp there for a Bias with my own $120 quad matched tubes. Tech called me back saying he dropped n “broke” one of my quad matched tubes so he’ll replace them. He replaced them with “new” tubes…but the brand name(Apex) stickers on the”new” tubes are falling off. Never seen that on brand new tubes. Oh and it took them 2 weeks. 2 weeks to turn my modern hi-gain amp into a blues combo amp. I know the amp tech didn’t even “test” my amp. How do I know? All my volume, bass, mid, treble, gain settings stayed exactly the same as where I left them. Why was my “broken” tubes not returned to me? And why wasn’t there a receipt for the new ones that are falling apart? Very unprofessional.
Unprofessionally running business they were closed early then business hour
9. Music Go Round
Address: 944 W Robinhood Dr, Stockton, CA 95207 , San Joaquin , California , United States
Friendly staff and a great selection of cool used guitars and amps
Love this shop. They take great care of my son’s guitars and are always nice and helpful.
Fair prices and nice people. Picked up some good condition Sabian 14″ AAX X-Celerator hats for $150 and a Tama Cobra stand for $40. I’ll be returning for future cymbal purchases. They even had some used hand hammered and Turkish cymbals.
It was ok. Bought some guitar picks as I was down to my last 2 that were half worn. Heard some guitarist that was struggling and anemic in skills. An epidemic of laziness where people rely on Apps, not real practice.
Great stuff!!!
Update: I received a call back and I am being credited the 45.00 and don’t owe any additional payments. The return of the instrument was delayed in their system which caused the $$ discrepancies. I feel better they made it right, I just don’t like that I was made to feel like I was lying. I have no problem paying what I owe. I have updated to 3 stars for them making an effort to make the situation correct. I appreciate that.
I have rented an instrument from this place and Clany’s. I paid for the instrument for over a year, even throughout summer because I failed to return it. Once I finally returned it, I had a bill that I asked them to split in to two payments. I paid 136.00 and asked the remaining 136.00 be paid on the 1st, which was two weeks later. I was advised that the auto pay had been turned off and the remaining payment of 136.00 would be paid on the first. The following week, I was automatically charged 45.00. Then today, I received a call regarding the remaining balance of 131.00? You just took 45.00? How is it 131, when it was 136 before you took the 45.00? So to satisfy this account, I now have to pay 131.00 on the first. Let’s hope that dollar amount sticks this time and I’m not randomly debuted another 45.00 on top of the 131.00.
When I rented an instrument from Clany’s, I delayed returning their instrument as well. When I went in to return it and pay what I owed, they told me I paid enough and now own the violin. Complete difference in customer service.
I don’t mind paying what I owe. I know it’s my responsibility to return an instrument, but to make payment arrangements and be told the auto pay was turned off and then be charged outside of those payment arrangements, then told a complete different amount due, is frustrating. Then when I am trying to explain what I was told and the lady keeps talking over me, so I start talking over her, I am called rude! So unprofessional! I will never rent another instrument from them again. I would suggest to anyone else sticking with Clancy’s. Better business practices, better customer service!
No acknowledgement, waiting for someone to help and no one ever came. No one said I’ll be right with you. Was there to purchase a good guitar. I suppose the other people wasting time and talking their ear off was more important. All we heard was “thanks for coming in” as we walked out empty handed.
sort of like the GameStop of music stores ,snobby and off putting attitudes as if you are gonna run out with some merch.
My son wanted an acoustic guitar for his birthday. Unfortunately we picked the wrong time to go because some old dude who reeked of pee was jamming out on base. Hard to hear what an acoustic guitar sounds like with that going..oh well..took our business down to clancy’s
