Great place to take lessons and rent instruments. Wonderful store with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic service from their repair department from Steve.

It is good
All the accessories… Just nothing name brand as far as name brand guitars… Otherwise great music store
They’re always so helpful.
I love the environment in this store and is my preferred music store for my brass needs. The only complaint is the repairman in the back was very rude to me and I could wait to get out after he talked to me.

Best Guitar Shop in town.
Great selection, Down to earth staff, welcoming environment. Also, You get to try the Equipment before you buy. No headaches, No Sass, No BS.
Just popped by today with my GF and friends on a trip to the coast and had a wonderful experience purchasing a ukulele here for my GF! Highly recommend checking out this store and seeing the selection!

If you’re looking for some assistance or direction, this is not the place for you. Person at the counter made me feel completely unwelcome. Because of his unwelcoming attitude, I did not want to stay in the store for another minute, let alone ask any questions. Five stars for the wide selection, zero stars for service.
The manager was completely disrespectful and totally rude. He ended up treating us so badly that my husband told him he felt like he was being disrespectful and the guy kicked us out when we where being friendly and respectful and asking questions. Will never go there again. Completely uncalled for.
The owner charged me twice the normal price for guitar strings on my debit card without telling me.
I called in advance to ask the store if they had my favorite strings in stock (Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom’s) and the man on the line said they did. When I arrived at the store, I made the mistake of not asking for the price of the strings as I generally trust small business vendors to be honest with their prices. He made a point to not show me the receipt and I didn’t think anything of it (as these strings are $6.50 per pack generally). I bought two packs and left for home.
When I got home I checked my banking app to see how much he charged me for two packs of strings and it came out to ~$33. While this is not a jarring financial loss, due to the dishonesty of the employee/owner I will never return to this store for business.
these guys rip me off everytime i buy something there, they lie and just plain are shady AF.
3. Bananas At Large
Address: 531 College Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Santa Rosa , California , United States
Hadn’t been to Santa Rosa since before the fires. In the months since, this Bananas store moved from its Ross St space to a new location that is bigger and has more space and a better parking situation. The crew is as friendly and helpful as always. The dedicated in-store Fender Shop is a nice addition, too.
Good selection for such a small store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Nice people. Good service
Very helpful staff. Decent selection of instruments and equipment.
Theyre called Bananas at large cuz it’s robbery and they’re basically criminals at large. Decent selction at outrageous prices.
I would like this place better if they didn’t try to upsell me super expensive guitars. I mean honestly I don’t know how this place is in business with these prices during covid. You would think they were for the people.

Left 130 year old violin for repair.
Eselente y buenos
Meh
What turned out to be a truly horrible expirence!!
Two years ago we purchased a violin here for our daughter. At the time we paid 3500 for the violin. Since that time my daughter has switched to a different instrument so we decided to sell the violin. Upon contacting several other shops they let us know the we had grossly over paid and had been ripped off. What was sold to us as a 3500.00 violin, turns out to be worth roughly 500.00. We have now had several shops tell us how horrible they feel in knowing a violin shop would sell items so dishonestly. Very disappointed. Will be reporting them to the B.B.B.
Andy Caruthers is a master Luthier. He crafts beautiful instruments, and did some very fine repairs on my cello, including a perfect sound post adjustment, fingerboard planing and more. He also carefully looked over my very old cello to make sure everything was in perfect condition, and what to watch out for in the future/ what kind of work it might need. He is extremely kind and personable, and very experienced.
Andrew is one of the very few people who understands the golden mean as applied to violin making. He is a master in everything he does and the fruits of his labor remains for an eternity.
This is a wonderful music store! They sell new and used instruments and they’re all in beautiful shape. It’s a densely packed, fun place to explore and get yourself a great piano, guitar, even a wind instrument. Kurt, the owner, is a delightful man who made our purchase of a small piano super easy and fun.
Great service! Sam is a good natured and professional young man. You can tell his goal in every transaction is honesty and getting the people what they want for their needs. Fantastic job guys!!!
Had a fantastic experience here last week. Would highly recommend!
Very expensive but has some good brands to pick from
I chose this establishment when it came time to decide where I was going to buy my guitar I had a good relationship with a former manager who sold it to me. I have been in and out of the store from time to time and purchased a few items here and there but honestly I was not happy with the phone conversation I had yesterday with whom ever picked up the phone.
He was very cordial and businesslike of course which anyone but expect from a well-seasoned established neighborhood outlet. I have enquired about a couple of items I needed to complete a project he said that he can order them for me but when I added I believe I can get them on eBay as well he said okay thank you very much and rudely hung up on me.I don’t believe that’s just because I choose to get one or two items from a different resource that I should face such reprisal and for this reason alone I will not return to the store and it really is a shame when you walk in you get that old time flavor that was so calm and many years ago. It was just not professional behavior and now my trust is lost. Sorry I just left this message by way of microphone I think it may be hard of hearing completely Miss worded the whole thing
I am looking to buy or rent a grand piano but after several strange phone conversations, I give up and will take my business elsewhere!
Very rude and unfriendly person who keeps changing his story. What a weird experience.
I have only dealt with the owner Wayne Searcy one time and it was very unpleasant. He cussed me out on the phone because he didn’t like my price for a service he wanted me to provide to him. I tried to call him back and politely talk with him and hopefully have a more civil conversation but he cussed me out again and hung up. In my opinion as a business owner this is completely unprofessional and I would caution anyone looking to spend their money at this store to stay away. If an owner treats his customers this way then they don’t deserve your business period!
The owner and this place is a scam! My father tried to purchase a trombone for his grandson’s birthday and he just got ripped off by this place! We live out of town, so my father tried to order and purchase the trombone over the phone. Not only did we receive the completely wrong style trombone, but we received a lesser brand that is only worth $600 and my dad paid $1,200. I have tried to return this trombone for a month only to be hung up on, told to call back later because they are in the middle of moving a piano and then for their phone to be “out of service.” I made a last ditch effort again by calling this morning only to have the owner tell me that a refund “Isn’t going to happen!” And then be hung up on. My 84 year-old father is out $1,200.00 and we have a horn that is worth only half of that value. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE!!!! You will be sorry. My father taught music for over 30 years and has never dealt with a more unprofessional music store. I fully believe the owner knew what he was doing when he purchased the cheaper trombone and had it shipped to us. So he could pocket the difference!
10. The Next Record Store
Address: 1899 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 , Santa Rosa , California , United States
Great record store with a nice selection of CD’S and cassette tapes as well.
Excellent selection, lower prices than most on new vinyl, and well organized and clean.
Very helpful staff and helped with my inquiry
Very nice, friendly, and helpful staff. I have recently begun to get interested in starting a vinyl collection and they offered helpful advice on getting started. Good selection, I was actually surprised by it.
Great little record store.
I purchased a new, unopened record from them. When I got home and opened it, I noticed the record was scratched. When I returned to the store with the damaged record and my receipt, they informed me that all sales were final and recommended that I contact the manufacturer. I could not believe my ears. Finally, they allowed me to swap it for another new record for the same price. When I asked the clerk if I could open it and inspect it before leaving this time, he rolled his eyes at me. This was the last time I will ever go there. And everyone wonders why record stores are going out of business…
11. Stephen’s Piano Studio at Stanroy Music Center
Address: 850 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Santa Rosa , California , United States
Stephen is an incredible teacher. I have taken lessons with him for over 10 years and he has consistently been prepared, knowledgable, and has advice and expectations that are catered to my skill level and habits. I am very grateful for all of the years I had Stephen as a teacher!
I have been taking piano lessons with Stephen for about a year and a half using the simply music method. Over the years I had taken piano lessons using the traditional method and always ended up becoming frustrated and quiting. The simply music method makes learning music fun and with Stephen’s kindness and patience, I’m finally not only learning to play the piano, but I’m enjoying the process. If you’ve ever thought about learning to play the piano but thought you were too old or it would be too hard, don’t hesitate to given Stephen and the simply music method a try, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
I’ve been enjoying learning piano with Stephen for about a year and a half now. He always does a great job answering all my questions and helping me become a much better piano player.
12. Dancing Tile
Address: 63 Maxwell Ct, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 , Santa Rosa , California , United States
I had zero capability in my personal opinion, and with encouragement I finally went and am so happy I found Cam. Not only is he an incredibly talented musician on his own, his ability to pass along his knowledge is done with generosity and patience. Highly recommend–cam’s the man.
Cameron is a great Teacher and person. He’s helped me tremendously in my journey to learn more about my instrument. Along with the his talent on guitar he possess the gift of teaching which many don’t have. Cameron is always professional and is ready to get to work with me on concepts and ideas. I would highly recommend taking lessons from him no matter your level, whether starting out or years of playing. He will open up to you new ways to see things and inspire you. Every time i’m done with a lesson I feel excited about playing and that it was a great investment. All in all He’s a guy that takes what he does seriously and won’t waste your time, Plus you’ll have a lot of fun working together. I’m proud to have him as my teacher and friend. Highly recommended!
Insanely talented, if you want to learn this is your teacher.

I absolutely love the School of Rock in Santa Rosa! Jake is amazing with the kids and they always have a great time! Last week they made musical instruments and we “played” The limbo! His energy with kids great to watch and introducing music to kids is so important and they do it in such a fun and engaging way!
