The service here is outstanding. The salesman who helped me, Will is the nicest, most sincere young man that you could ask for.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner John. What a humble, friendly guy! He was in the music industry for a long time, and thrilled me with the most amazing stories. He has rubbed shoulders with some of the greatest music legends of our time!
You can’t go wrong with this place. The service knowledge and care that they give you here will exceed your expectations, every time.
The people who attend you is nice
I wouldn’t shop anywhere else. Ask for John. He’s helped me from day one. Very professional and friendly.
Nice staff, very polite and friendly. Young sales man could’ve been more knowledgeable about products. But he was still nice and polite. Selection was minimal. Said they would price match or beat other prices so that’s a +. If they were every to replenish there Guitar stock it would definitely be a 4 or 5
Great workers, with pretty decent prices. The selection could use significant improvement though. Overall a nice place.
Music is awesome
Hands-down the worst music store ever!
Went in to look for an acoustic guitar, amp and some cables. Employee with beard and glasses kept following me around but wasn’t saying anything. It felt weird so I left.
People there are polite enough, but have no business sense, if you’re not familiar with the music industry they will belittle you. Do not sell equipment to them, they only do consignment (which is a very outdated idea imo), and offer a 70/30% which is higher than typical music shops.
3. Jerry Lee’s Music Store
Address: 101 West St Patrick St, St Marys, GA 31558 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
Amazing inventory for a small town shop! Very sweet and patient owner. A+++ experience. Love Jerry Lee’s!!!
Killer guitars, Jerry Lee’s gets all my money…( Don’t tell my wife but I’ve bought 4 so far)
Jerry is a very personable and knowledgeable in his passion for teaching, playing, sales, and repair of guitars. Mostly acoustic guitars. If your looking for answers, this is the man to see. I would recommend Jerry without a doubt.
Nice people. They also offer classes at reasonable prices for any aspiring musicians.
It’s pretty cool. Like the people there.
I just dropped off my daughters trumpet for a stuck valve. I was promptly greeted with a friendly smile. When I get the horn back I will up date my review.
If you are into electric guitars, the selection is very limited, and even the ones in stock had problems.
4. Ken Stanton Music
Address: 5236 Stone Mountain Hwy, Stone Mountain, GA 30087 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
Had all my musical needs. Stream SheaButtaBandit!!!!
Had been in the market for a drum set for my son & I to goof around with. Wasted time on fb marketplace for 2 weeks…sellers not serious, not replying, irrational, not giving full info, etc… stopped in here today & found a new set for maybe $50 more than I could have found used. Staff was attentive, addressed my concerns, & I didn’t have to go through all the rigamarole from marketplace. Thank you! Repeat customer!
Scott was amazing. He got us set up with everything we needed. He was extremely experienced with all the equipment we needed. Have a question. Ask Scott. We use to shop guitar center. Not any more. They have the best prices in town. There staff is amazing also. Musicians should shop here. Our experience is awesome every time we shop here
Ken Stanton Music is the hometown brand. It is apparently one legitimate alternative to Guitar Center and Sam Ash. I stopped by the store recently and had a pleasant experience.
From the exterior, you can tell that the store won’t have a massive selection. It’s a smaller store, but still worth checking out. You could always find a gem. I found a pretty reasonably priced Gibson ES-Les Paul that I’m strongly considering.
I worked with Ben during my time in the store, and he was terrific. The store didn’t carry a White Falcon or a Martin D35, but he found that other Ken Stanton locations carried them and offered to have them delivered to the Stone Mountain location.
There’s a lot to consider when investing in expensive instruments and gear. As it currently stands, I wouldn’t mind buying from Ben at Ken Stanton.
Great service
The shop has a big selection for its size and the staff are helpful but not pushy. We found just what we were looking for and enjoyed browsing the guitars and other strings.
I bought 350$ worth of equipment..and none of it was compatible with my Daw that the guy recommended and on top of that i try to return it the same day i purchased it.. And they said i can only return it used.. They will give me 15$ is his exact words.. For 350$ for what i just paid for.. I felt betrayed but that’s how they do business.
False prices: How would you feel if you are a first time customer to that store and after browsing for a guitar you spot the one you liked and then you played it and realized it was the one you want, you took it to the register to buy and they refused to sell it to you? that is exacly what happened to me there. bad place to go. the item was tagged for $299 and the attendant said “yes is on clearance” the greedy manager did not honor the price, he wanted $ 130 more at register
sadly, I’ve coming to this location twice in the past week and got no service. I played a few keyboards. Even had to turn on a few keyboards to try them. Some I couldn’t get working. No one ever acknowledged my presence. I hung out at least 15min each time to no avail. I observed workers behind the counter but no one greeted me on either visit. I took my business to guitar center they were on me the moment I walked in and gave me a fair deal.
5. Allseasons Music Store
Address: 460 W Cherry St, Jesup, GA 31545 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
Love the musical folks here. Kind and knowledgeable about most Questions. .
I no longer live in Georgia, but when I visit I always stop by Forte. I have purchased all my guitars from Jason and do not plan on changing that. Great products, service, and atmosphere.
I have a buddy that owns and operates about the last real old school motorcycle shop near Rome GA. I’m visiting the Dublin GA area and was in dire need of new guitar strings by george I’m sayin dire need geetar pickers know what I’m sayin. Pure luck I found Forte Music I hung around a little talked guitars the vibe there was like my buddy’s bike shop and that’s cool as grits. I refuse to buy anything from big chain stores I despise those places I watched my hometown’s Mom & Pop shops go under. Why would you sit in ya recliner and order on the interweb when you can go to Forte Music get what you need and shoot the breeze with the nice youngman there. Not me now when I visit I can go hangout there don’t care if all I could get was a pick , I’m buying local.
Good store. Very helpful staff
Seems to be a good place to buy musical instruments..accessories..fair on prices.. would recommend..
7. SMC Music
Address: 28 Central Plz, Rome, GA 30165 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If they don’t have what you are looking for in store, they are more than happy to get it for you. Music teachers are patient and skilled!
Great place to grab pretty much anything for playing music. They’ve got a great staff that are very helpful, and if they don’t have something in stock they will offer to help track it down for you, which means alot to me.
I didnt want to be too harsh…the place has a small selection at high prices, but does price match. The guy working there was nice. They can order things for you.
Love this shop. Nice selection, decent prices and the employees seem to all enjoy music at some level.
Up to date on all of their equipment salespeople knowledgeable no wasted time

Clerk was on the Web, Netflix, etc. with girlfriend beside him
I came in to make a Christmas purchase for my wife.
Moving on…next store and spend my Cash!
This place is awful, The Workers was very Rude, and they and was very much a fraud. They tell one thing on the phone once you come in a They Run your credit the price jump up 1000.00. Be aware they Rent instruments that have been used 3 or more times for the price of a Brand new one.
8. Saint Simons Music
Address: 221 Mallery St, St Simons Island, GA 31522 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
The 2017 Holiday Concert last night at Mellow Mushroom was amazing. So wonderful to see the interaction between the students and their instructors. Love Saint Simons Music!
Cool store, great service!
Awesome store. Really deserves more recognition than it seems to get. It’s really a hidden gem for musicians. The owner, Chris, seems to be an awesome guy. I walked in with my fiance and ended up staying probably an hour just talking and sitting on the sofas. The atmosphere is like that of a large living room with guitars and music equipment everywhere. Truly a great place with good people. Check it out! It’s above the hardware store and to the right.
Everytime I go by the door is locked. Even if the surf isn’t up. Was really wanting to go to a local shop before I flew back home.
9. O’Malley Musical Instruments
Address: 903 S Madison Ave, Douglas, GA 31533 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
Very friendly staff. Extremely helpful in getting the right instrument.
Made a special trip to check out a Cimbasso that Danny had in stock. It was well worth the 4-hour drive from Columbia! Danny gave me a great deal of attention for an hour, showing nothing but the best southern hospitality. I’m very glad I made the trip!
Extra perk was running down the street to Danny’s Pizza to grab dinner before the trip home!
Would definitely recommend to anyone!
I was in and out in 15 mins with my child’s clarinet. They made it so easy, and you’re not just renting, you’re renting to own!
Quiet. Seemingly aimed at school band members.
Quick and convenient.
Disorganized seems like good variety but expensive prices
Buyer beware. Shop around before you buy. Their instruments are way over priced and became tarnished fast. The same exact instruments they buy and rebrand with their logo, then sell to the school students can be found on Amazon for a third of the price. Check other sources before you buy, like I should have done.
No one is ever there to answer the phone
I would give zero stars if I could. These people are crooks. We paid for something we never received. I called and talked with someone who told me it wasn’t even ordered yet, but now am being given conflicting stories and they refuse to give me a refund. Nobody should ever do business with this place. They charge too much and are crooks. Period
10. Music & Arts
Address: 5236 Stone Mountain Hwy, Stone Mountain, GA 30087 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
This is a really great music store. The guys there really know their stuff, not just how to read the back of a box. They even carry the high end guitars such as Taylor and Gibson.
They have always treated me right and supported what I bought.
Great staff, full line of the best instruments, best band and orchestra rentals in Brunswick.
Muy bien
When I was in school and school band this was my go to store for anything I needed. From my trumpet to my drumsticks it all came from here
Went today & bought a harmonica. The young lady said here ya go,
I said we need to test it before I leave , I swear she looked at me like I was a problem. .
Then on top of all that I discover I have been removed from their so called loyalty list.
Way to go Portman’s , you make it hard for me to be loyal to a local owned business.
P.S. – went to buy 2 harmonica’s today but they had every key but the key I needed .
How long do I have to stand there before you ask if I need help with anything? I’ll take my money somewhere else ✌
Lazy
12. Southeast Guitar Repair
Address: 1651 Horizon Pkwy #100, Buford, GA 30519 , Sanxenxo , Georgia , United States
Got a pickup swap and they did an amazing job. Love this shop
Quality set up every time. Neck adjustments, electronics, doesn’t matter, they get it right.
These guys are great!! My Martin needed something other that a removable sound hole pickup. They recommended a quality permanent solution. They also noticed that my guitar wasn’t quite right in the neck area. They added the pickup and tuned the guitar. I didn’t know how hard I was having to work playing until I got the guitar back and the sound amplified is much better and much more even. I will return if I have any issues with this guitar or any other that I have.
Excellent work nice people. But heads up- their initial job price quote is labor only. Final price might be 10 percent higher. You’ll know before they do the work. However in my case I wasn’t about to walk out after driving 53 miles to get there. Charging top dollar it would be nice to know a true estimate before you get there cos for many guitarists they’re not around the corner.
Got my Ibanez RG there for a set up a while back & some p/up upgrades. . They are pretty expensive, but Barrett did a great job nonetheless.
I currently have a customized JEM copy that I am upgrading to original specs. Barrett himself will basically be redoing this whole guitar inside including new Dimarzio 500k pots, Sprague orange drop capacitor, new OEM 5 way switch, Gravity Storm Bridge pup, & dropping in a Gotoh trem with FU Tone block. I am supposed to have all of the parts in this week & plan on taking everything to SEGR in a few days. I will repost a separate review based on the outcome of this guitar & how it sounds & plays when I get it back. So keep your eyes peeled. In addition I also plan on doing a Youtube vid on the guitar when I get it back rating the guitar based on the job that they have done.
I have no worries as Barrett is supposed to be the best in the area when it comes to electronics & seems to be really knowledgable about Floyd floating trems.
$600 for a refret?! Highway robbery.
After Maple Street stopped servicing instruments not purchased in their store, I decided to bring my Taylor to Southeast Guitar Repair back in September. I brought my Taylor in to have the frets dressed ($200) as well as have a good setup for Eb standard tuning.
The tech upsold me to go ahead and get my plastic saddle and nut upgraded to bone (which would cost an extra $200). I decided to go ahead and do it as I had the budget for it.
When the guitar was ready for me, I picked it up. It sounded and felt great when I played it in the store acoustically. But when I got home, I realized that the transducer for the pickup wasn’t working properly. It wasn’t picking up the sound correctly – sounded terrible. So I had my wife bring it back in. They ordered a new transducer and installed it – and called me to come pick it up.
When I got there to pick it up, the tech uninstalled the bone saddle (that I paid $200 for) and put back in the original plastic saddle. I was confused why he would do that… He said my wife told him to do it.. Which is crazy because she knows nothing about guitars. He told me that I could just re-install the bone saddle later on.
I didn’t want to make a scene about it in the store because the people come across as sincere. But I’m super upset about how I received my guitar. The frets seem good. But the saddle that is installed reverses however he set the guitar up in the first place. So it still buzzes like crazy. I took the strings off and tried to install the bone saddle back in.. but it sits WAY too low when it touches the transducer. So now I’m suspicious that the tech knew that. Which is why he uninstalled it and put the original plastic one back in in the first place.
So I’m sitting here $400 poorer with a guitar that sounds and feels no better. I’m honestly very frustrated.
“Humility is the solid foundation for all virtues.”…and business. A most arrogant and unsavory reaction ever experienced in 59 years of life and business. A requirement to pay for work before completed that garnered my husband’s joking reply, “hope it’s great work,” yielded this owner’s defensive compulsion to spray the scent of misplaced pride declaring 30 years of being in business and that he’s even invited to go to Martin guitars so they can pick his brain (apparently that should impress; if Martins are your choice, maybe). I wonder if this proud man pays upfront for car repairs, home repairs, utilities and more? How dare anyone ask or comment on the practice! Only to be waved back into the store after processing my husband’s payment and told his guitar “couldn’t be worked on” followed by this luthier’s unrestricted and unprofessional tongue that continued by hurling insults his way. Shameful. Another far more reputable and astute luthier earned our business, following. We should’ve known by the distasteful, punitive and unfriendly outgoing voice message “greeting” at this business when you call, what would be plated up in person. Hear it for yourself.
