I brought a trumpet here for cleaning before I sold it to a new, young trumpet player. They were very service oriented and helpful, even delivering it to our local middle school when the job was done. I even found some excellent church- service piano books while I was there. Music stores are harder and harder to find these days … I’m glad this one is here.

The staff was beyond helpful each time I visited, willing to go the extra mile in service, education and professional evaluation while we were discerning which direction we wanted to go. Every single time I come here it’s nothing but problems. Being misled by an employee on a price of an instrument. After calling the day before getting one price, to going there getting another price, and then her calling back and giving me yet another price. To finally I had to just sign up for something because I was told they didn’t have any available. Was told today they have books and now they don’t have any available.. They basically couldn’t tell me when or where they could get another. I highly suggest going to another store.

Staff is helpful and they have lots of instruments to view. One bad thing is that they always seem to make you feel like they are waiting for you to steal something. I realize there is lots of theft that happens but you don’t need to follow me around while I browse.
This place will go the way of the rock shop if they keep treating customers like suspects.

Went in last Saturday at 2:15 and they close at 3 to be told they were closed. Tried again today got in at 12:15 with 2 people ahead of me and an hour later I leave when they decide to skip over me to take care of someone else. Will not try again.
Will not return. Showed the gentleman exactly what I wanted. Turns me around to a train wreck. Would not recommend personally.

This also goes against dollar generals policy. Very aggravating when you think your getting a good deal and dont because of an employees mistake!

What a great friendly place! There is always music floating through the air as you walk in. Sean Shiel is a great mandolin teacher. Always patient and looking for new ways for me to understand what we are studying. Travel from Harvard to Dr. Woods to learn those slides and hammers. Is well worth the trip!
Buddy is an expert musician. His advice, insights, and customer service are worth the visit. I support this local shop because they offer value that I can’t get from the web or a large chain.

I debated posting a review or not, but I think I should if it’ll keep someone from having a bad experience. First off, the employees are super kind people. Couldn’t be happier with the staff. But unfortunately the work I received on my guitar was really poor. Took a guitar there, first time bringing them one of my instruments. Was told I could expect a turnaround in under a week. Ended up waiting almost 2 months. Honestly not a big deal, happens a lot with instrument repair. Got the guitar back. Took it out to play it and the truss rod cover is missing. Find it in the case and put it on. Turn the volume knob, it falls off. Have to spread the top of the pot and reinstall it. Start playing and there’s a weird oscillating noise from the amp. Find the output jack totally loose, have to take off the cover and tighten it. Screws for the cover are stripped in the body. This is a new guitar by the way. Notice the G string sits higher off the neck than all the others, very noticeably. Figured they would fix this when doing a setup but I guess not. Had to file the saddles out myself. Should have just done the job myself at this point. Ended up taking the guitar apart to make sure the wiring wasn’t as bad as the assembly and setup. Got it playing good now, but after paying for someone else to do it and then having to do it myself, it wasn’t worth it. I figured the extra time taken would have meant it was 100% ready to go when they called but apparently not. This was a mid range guitar so I’m not terribly upset about it, but if it was something really nice I would have definitely been upset. Take this into consideration before dropping off your favorite axe. Hope they learn to slow down and do quality work.
I called 45 minutes before they closed and was there about 25 to 30 minutes before they closed to get a guitar pick the lady with a dog looked at me walking out locked the door and got into her car and left mind you there was still about like I said 25 to 30 minutes left so if you’re gonna close at 8:30 put it on your page on Google that closing is at 8:30 and I’m still gonna buy a pick tomorrow because you’re the closest but that will probably be the last time I’m there and I will be returning the saxophone either Friday or the third

I special ordered about $100 worth of drum heads, which I unfortunately needed to return due to unexpected circumstances. Even though it was unlikely that others may need these special sizes, they allowed me to return them for a full refund. It’s great to have a local music store that can understand customer needs and has the flexibility to accommodate.
Bob was a really stand-up guy; he gave me what I needed and told me what was what. Definitely going to go back when they restock on banjo supplies.
A week and a half later, I’m waiting on a repair that was supposed to take two days. They called on the day it was supposed to be done to say they just started working on it. Two days after that they called again to say it will be done in a week (or maybe less) due to a problem with the instrument that requires additional work. Today (a week later) they said it will be ready two weeks from the day I brought it in. While I can’t comment on the quality of the work because I still haven’t received it yet, I am disappointed with the service so far. I dislike dishonesty, excuses, and false promises. I can only hope that my instrument isn’t being butchered. I hope I’ll get it back and be able to add a positive update to this review. Unfortunately since they lied to me, I can’t trust them, so I’ll have to take it somewhere else to get it checked out after I get it back.
Update: I got the guitar back and had it checked out by a friend’s technician. He said it was in good shape, so I’ve decided to raise my rating by two stars. I won’t forget the bad communication and lack of transparency, so I don’t think I would bring an instrument here for repair a second time.
Why would I come here to buy $21 Elixir Strings when I can get them for $10 on Amazon? Are these even elixirs? I am 2nd guessing because the seal was ripped and the bags are crinkled inside. I feel like I was ripped off here, do not come here for your strings maybe they are knowledgable, but definatley sketchy.

I bought two sets of acoustic guitar strings for around a $20 total and later received a $140 charge from the business. Bob said he would reach out to resolve the issue but has not yet after two weeks.
Store staff are incompetent. Ordered books and instruments accessories for me but instead of holding behind the counter they just put them on the shelf for others to buy. Waited two weeks and when I got there only one of the three things I ordered was available. There is a reason mom-and-pop shops like this are going out of business. They have no customer service. Added to which the staff were rude and had a lack of knowledge that was sad.
Bought an over priced patch cable to find out it doesn’t work.

I wish the correct holiday store hours had been posted online. The website claimed the store would be open until 6p. I assume now that those are the regular hours for a Wednesday night. My family drove in to pick up a Christmas present only to find the place closed before 3:30. It put a huge damper over the holiday.
Good instruments, and good service
This place is a rip off. Don’t use the school program if you have more than one kid because you can’t transfer an instrument from one kid to another even though you are the one paying the bill! You are better off to buy an instrument through Amazon then pay the exorbitant monthly rental fees.
Brought my bow in to get the tip replaced. They replaced the hair instead. Now I’m out for the price of restringing the hair and bringing it elsewhere to get the tip redone.
We had the string quartet play for our Allerton Park, Sunken Garden wedding ceremony, and they were AMAZING! We got so many compliments from our guests about how beautifully they played.
Amanda was great to work with during the planning process- she allowed us to choose the songs we wanted played during each part of the ceremony and definitely catered to our specific style (having plenty of options for a mixture of classical and modern pieces). I truly feel that having the string quartet play added a more romantic, classy atmosphere to our ceremony and we were so happy with it! Highly recommend!
We hired Amanda Ramey to play our son’s wedding. She was excellent. Donnie and Alex worked with Amanda on the timing and the selections. We could not have been happier. I recommend her highly!
Vine Streel Ensemble is a “must have” for your event! They were a true asset at our daughters wedding. Very professional and the beautiful music they played made the whole evening so elegant.

Overall a nice little store. They have nice basic guitars (mostly Washburn acoustics when I went in). They don’t have a huge selection and most guitars are low-mid range in price ($300 to $700). If you’re looking for high end guitars then don’t come here. I’ve purchased several things here over the years and the prices are okay and the service is friendly. I also had some work done on my parlor guitar and they did a nice job.
I would recommend Mike and his crew. We went there today to have my daughter’s instrument serviced. He had fixed the issue with the Saxophone within 10 minutes. Mike is very knowledgeable and helped us purchase a used Saxophone to upgrade what my daughter had. Mike stands by his work, and works with his customers to ensure their satisfaction. They have affordable payment options to rent instruments if your student is just starting out. Remember Mike Brass and Woodwind this fall when your
student signs up for band.
