Great service, great help and works with you on everything. Will definitely be coming back
Todd does an great job keeping his store stocked to the gills with large selections of instruments, supplies,, and anything a beginner or novas would need. And if he doesn’t have it, he will get it and at a fair price. My son wanted a very specific guitar for his graduation and Todd had in ordered and in our hands quickly and beat the price we had found it online for. Great community supporter of everything and is all about kids getting into music and is very supportive of our areas schools music programs.
Mega Music is a quality place to find quality gear. I suggest to anyone looking for an instrument to check out Todd Allen’s online store and his physical store in Sterling. He’ll match a deal you might find elsewhere and can arrange to special order your instrument; then he offers you great customer support as part of the deal. Todd is a great asset to the local community as well. I’ve bought several instruments from him and have had nothing but good experiences.
Kinda high priced but ok selection and kinda rude most of the time I come in not sure why anywayz
Good selection and everything a musician needs. Only store in town that I would trust with my equipment. He’s got it
Awaome people to deal with!!!!
Update: Have been dealing with Todd and his store (Mega Music) for a few years now… This man is my go to guy… PERIOD…. Took my Jackson JS32 to him because it wouldn’t stay in tune.. He did a killer job setting it up… 100% perfect now!!!
Todd Allen the owner jipped me. He sold me a keyboard that was faulty. Then didn’t let me have a new power cord to it when that’s all that was wrong. Now I am stuck with two keyboards and really no way to hook up the second one. Plus he won’t give me credit for the old one. Do not go there.
I went in to the store today to ask about getting my son’s saxophone fixed or buy a new one I had mentioned it had been taken to another music store in the past and had purchased parts online so he had the full information about the instrument and he started going off on me and being very nasty about my past choices. Made not only me but my son very uncomfortable. Stated that customers are people who spend dollars at his store which I was trying to be one but after the costumer services I recieved I would not recommend
I’ve worked a gig with this stage and production company 2 years now, both years have been a nightmare. Sound and lights are horrible for a live band and the owner is very rude.
2. Antiques & Artisans PLUS
Address: 101 Cedar St, Julesburg, CO 80737 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
This store is filled with lots of antique goodies that could bring a home back to the good old days. It also has edible goodies made from talented people.
Nice things and fun times
Very nice staff! Prices are a bit high in general
They have such great quality of everything. From clothes to antiques to hand made furniture and decor.
Bought a window showcase kitchen island on wheels and it fell apart on the 3rd day . they sell stuff. Way above price its worth with no return policy…never going back or recommending
Great selection not very helpful though
3. Dollar General
Address: 510 W 1st St, Julesburg, CO 80737 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
One of the cleanest stores and always budget friendly.
Great Dollar store with great employees that are helpful and down to earth.
They have everything you need. It’s not a dollar store, they have items that are more than a dollar. Mini grocery store frozen food, canned food and dry goods. Other items from toys to tools and everything in between.
It’s nice to have a store open after 7pm.
My god the whole store reeks of weed I’m surprised you let people smoke in here…. Won’t be shopping here anymore
Prices on the shelf don’t match the register. App sucks big time.
Couldn’t be any worse if they tried.
4. Music Depot
Address: 2318 W 17th St, Greeley, CO 80634 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
They were extremely helpful in fixing my flute and worked very fast. The employees were very kind and helpful and I would recommend them to anyone!
Music Depot is a excellent place to purchase music equipment. Tyler helped me purchase my new guitar. He was very knowledgeable about all the guitars and really made it easier to find the right guitar for me. Excellent customer service! I will definitely be back again!
They had a book I needed.
Some dork will make you wear one of his silly masks if he thinks your mask isn’t good enough. Needed a new trumpet, ended buying a single E string instead, take your money elsewhere if possible.
The selection is pretty pathetic. Employees are just not knowledgeable enough to properly assist in tracking down desired instrument. They were pleasant and helpful as they could be, but we’re not in a position to provide useful assistance.
I purchased a Teton acoustic loved it after a couple of weeks it started to have a lot of buzzing when played that’s to be expected it came with a free set up but to get that done is not a easy thing to do it’s always two weeks from now no appointments! Just bring it in so I don’t think I will be back for the amp or what ever else I needed I will have to pay to have it set up ! And it was in the price ! Not a cheap guitar!
5. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
I brought my acoustic guitar in needing to replace the pick up system, the fine folks at Monkton guitars had the pick up installed within one hour. I highly recommend this company, and would add that their repair prices are extremely affordable. I also noticed that the shop has a great selection of guitars and secondhand gear.
Awesome, best shop for new and experienced students ….David has a host of guitars for sales and an teachers for new students
I took my acoustic guitar in, which was passed down and means the world to me, to be cleaned and restrung. Dave was knowledgable, friendly, and handed it back within a couple days in great condition. He did a great job, and the price he charged was more than fair. I didn’t look around very much while I was inside, but from what I could see there is a good selection of quality electric and acoustic guitars. I highly recommend this place, and would give this shop 6 stars without hesitation if I could. Huge thanks to Dave for taking such good care of something I care so much about.
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
6. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
This place is the best. I drive an hour to shop here. They have an amazing selection and do special orders.
Very nice place. Super grate prices and very polite.
Everyone was super nice and helpful. The store was a little hard to find, but the rest was easy. I was afraid I’d have to drive to Denver to find a good music store, but these guys were much closer!
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Limited selection, average prices
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
7. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Amazing music store! Visiting from out of town and needed clarinet supplies—they had a great selection of woodwind accessories and were so helpful and knowledgeable in their advice. Super-friendly service….I will be back next time I’m in Denver!
I have been using Flesher Hinton as my go-to music store for the past 7 years, and they always have what I want. Their repair guys are second-to-none, also. I would recommend anybody needing a new/used/rental instrument to come here, as well as any accessory or repair needs.
Note: I am a professional clarinet and oboe player for the Army, and my unit has also entrusted them with many repairs over the years.
I am a musician and have been involved with Flesher-Hinton for over 10 years. They always have a wonderful selection to meet my needs and the staff are very knowlegable. I highly recommend Flesher-Hinton for all your music needs!
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Like always the services people were just great.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
8. Guitar Hut
Address: 1385 Forest Park Cir #106, Lafayette, CO 80026 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Evan is awesome. Got my guitar fixed in less than 10 minutes
My boys have taken guitar lessons at Guitar Hut for years and they absolutely love it. The instructors have a positive energy that always gets my kids fired up to practice and fall in love with music every week. Highly recommended.
My son is 16. He paid for his guitar and amp there and I’m paying for his lessons. He really loves it there. Great service too. They really take the time to help you figure out the best options for you!
I had these guys take a look at a signature bass of mine. It had some electrical problems going on with it that were a bit out of their knowledge base but Evan is great guy. Very honest and very hard working. I will return with any other problems I have in the future and I would recommend them. Their pricing is very fair and they are willing to help out customers any way they can.
I called to sign my boys up for guitar lessons and had a few options worked out and was told I would be called back to confirm which times worked. I never heard back. Then, when I called back to confirm options, I was told they didn’t have any of my information logged and there were no longer any time slots available for lessons.
Everyone I have met there seems very nice, but very poorly organized.
9. HB Woodsongs
Address: 3101 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
A great shop in every respect. As nice as they are knowledgeable. The highly skilled work that Matt has done on my Collings guitars is absolutely impeccable. It is really nice to be able to trust that your prized instruments are in such good hands. My unreserved highest recommendation.
Go to place in Boulder for all of my acoustic instrument needs. Good people, excellent service, nice atmosphere.
Great ukalele selection
Small but nice musical instruments stores. They don’t have a lot of stuff (my only complaint), but you be able to find some accessories and also some high-end acoustic guitars. Salespersons are friendly and they also have a music school in this place.
Very friendly staff, unfortunately way over-priced. You can find some of the exact same items on ebay or Amazon for less than half the price at this store.
Great selection for AMAZING prices. The staff genuinely knows what they are talking about and are extremely helpful in every way. On top of that they are locally owned!
Great source for rock/bluegrass musical instruments and the like. Very guitar focused and a great staff. If you are looking for a new guitar, uke, banjo, etc. this is this is where to start. They are friendly and helpful and will get you the instrument you need. There is also a nice selection of percussion and other instruments.
I’ve got a Breedlove Stage Pursuit, 7 years old, played nearly an hour every day. Prob needs some setup by July 1 for getting back on-platform at Timberline Church. Do you have a tech available (a number of guitar stores – including Guitar Center – say they don’t have one anymore) who could do the work? Would love not to have to drive up to Cheyenne or down to Denver. Thanks.
The atmosphere is friendly, and this is clearly not a corporate chain establishment. Unfortunately, they no longer carry Taylor guitars.
.
nice selection of guitars and equipment ,and associated equipment … of string’s piks & suff!
We called to verify that they repaired musical instruments. When we got there, the desk person (who was NOT the repair person) said that they don’t really work on my brand of saxophone because they couldn’t get parts for it.
Having worked as an instrument repair person, I told them that no parts needed to be replaced, that it was a lever that needed to be moved in front of another lever, and it was a 15 minute job.
They grudgingly took the sax, but then called and left a message at my home without even allowing the repairman to look at it.
Beyond disgusted. Go someplace where your instrument can be fixed.
Really frustrating! Customer service is non-existant!
I came to Spotlight to pick out a starter violin as an adult learner. When I Arrived, the crew seemed friendly enough, but were completely unknowledgeable (about anything other than guitars) and not of much help. I probably shouldn’t have bought a violin at this point, but I needed one to begin lessons so I went for it. I was told that the store has a 7 day return policy, so I figured it was all good. I happily bought my violin and went home and had my first lesson. In the short time I began to figure out more of what I was doing, I decided I needed a larger violin to fit me. I took it back to the store before my seven days were up and was told, “This is a commissioned instrument. We can’t return or exchange it.”
NOBODY EVER TOLD ME IT WAS COMMISSIONED NOR DID IT HAVE ANY TAGS OR MARKINGS THAT WOULD SUGGEST SO.
Also, when I bought it, the fine tuning pegs were put on backwards and upside down and it was not strung my anyone who knew what they were doing. You’d think as such “professionals” they would inspect the instruments they put on the floor. After all of this, they never offered any consolation for my waste of a $250 violin plus the money I spent at a real music store to fix it. I guess I should have just known it was commissioned through magic or something. Don’t waste your time. If you want to deal with professionals, head to Boomers Music Company, Music Go Round, or hell, even Guitar Center. Literally anywhere. A pawn shop maybe?
Thanks, Spotlight, for your fantastic customer service.
We were looking for a professional Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone online for WEEKS, when we came across this store. We were able to get the Getzen 3062AFR bass trombone used (but in impecable condition) for an excellent price. A new Getzen 3062AFR is very expensive, so we eagerly bought it. As we purchased it, Gina was very helpful and gave us photos and a thorough description of the instrument. As the product shipped, we were frequently updated on where it was on its process. An amazing store.
Ordered a used king trombone. Was in really good condition. No surprise damages or anything, I’d order from here again
Gina is a consummate musical instrument expert, especially when it comes to Flutes, Horns, and the litany of Brass Band instruments. I reached out via email to her business after hours and received a return phone call immediately and she proceeded to run me thru the gamut of her Saxophone collection on hand and educated me on each and every one I inquired about and lastly she offered an a phenomenal deal on a mint condition Sax that I would have been foolish to bypass. To top it all off she had the instrument overnighted to me (unbeknownst to me). My inspection proved that she was spot on in her description on the instruments condition. I can’t give enough accolades to Gina and her team. Thanks a million Gina!!!
12. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Great people, solid retail selection, and “above-and-beyond” customer service! Flipside Music is a small business I’m happy to support and recommend!
As a new guitar player, it can be intimidating going to a music gear shop. Not Flipside! I’ve been in several times and the guys there are always friendly and cool. They let me know on my first visit that I was welcome to bring in any of my own instruments or gear so I can check out how they sound with possible purchases. Once I found a guitar I liked at another store (which they complimented me on and chatted with me about), they helped me pick out a killer Orange practice amp and I never felt pressured. I haven’t bought any pedals yet, but when I am ready – you better believe Flipside is where I will be going. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the market for any gear.
They are here to build a business, not just make a single sale. That’s why I go back.
Great place
This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).
Cool store, not the friendliest staff. Nice pedal selection.
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
13. Blue Mesa Music Store
Address: 132 N Main St, Gunnison, CO 81230 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Thank you Matt for getting my little Fender set up so well. I really do hear hints of Buddy Guy now when I play. I appreciate having you as a local resource, mentor and friend. PS..Christine says a big, deep hello.
Awesome service. Solid mix of gear. Always something interesting.
Just wanted to give a shout out to Daryl and Matt over at Blue Mesa Music Store. They were able to order us everything that we wanted for our family Christmas presents and matched online pricing! Highly recommend those guys. Shop local! Especially at your local music shop!
14. Redbox
Address: 612 W 1st St, Haxtun, CO 80731 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Great shop for those who love acoustic music. Friendly staff, great selection of instruments, peripherals, and instructional materials, and excellent shop-work – the install on my mandolin pickup was perfect. Highly recommended!
Austin was very positive and encouraging. Shared his knowledge of the banjo and made our visit a fun learning experience. They have a great lay-away plan too!
Best acoustic instrument shop in Colorado, bar none.
Even with restrictions, the guys inside were super friendly and helpful (they even gave us some stickers for my boys’ guitar cases). If we lived closer (like, within the same time zone) we’d probably have bought something!
Cool store with quality guitars and friendly employees.
They had some interesting instruments that we wanted to try, but they made it very clear we shouldn’t touch anything we weren’t interested in buying. Some of us shop in order to be surprised by a vintage instrument or a local luthier, but I didn’t even get to look at all the banjos they had that aren’t available in Austin. Instead of finding out what type of mando I was looking for or parlor guitar my husband wants, they hounded our 16-yr old about what he wanted to buy and didn’t want him to play anything once we said he wasn’t the one shopping for something.
I’m musician on tour, passing through Denver, and I invited two of my bandmates to go to this shop with me. All three of us are professional musicians who live in the world of music 24/7 and are always in the market for instruments. After trying 3 guitars, one of them a resonator which I seriously considered buying, and 2 banjos, one of the employees came over and gave me a seriously dark look and told us not to “make a day of it.” I’ve never been as insulted in a store of any kind, much less a music store where trying out instruments is crucial. Maybe they have other priorities, but I was embarrassed, insulted, and disappointed. With all the competition from online sellers and stores like Guitar Center I am really surprised that they think treating the customers this way is viable. If I were in charge of this place, I wouldn’t necessarily tell my employees that the customer is always right……… but I would tell them that the customer does get to try out instruments to the degree that they want to, because you never know when inspiration will strike and that magic connection between a player and an instrument will happen……… and I would tell them that insulting the customers is a way to lose business in a hurry.
Terrible service and advice.
Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
16. Music Go Round Colorado Springs
Address: 410 W Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 , Sedgwick County , Colorado , United States
Great place and professional and knowledgeable staff. It is the go-to spot for used music gear here in springs, very fair whether you’re buying or selling
Nice guys, super helpful.
Excellent music store, wide selection of instruments and equipment.
Decent enough selection of electric guitars. Ok selection of keyboards. I think the store is worth stopping by.
I was not impressed with their cellos and violins. (Acoustic room in general). I understand they are used instruments, but half of their selection was missing strings, and strings so loose it was unplayable.
Overall, the store is worth checking out if you just love instruments.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are quick to do research if they arent sure of their answer.
Decent store.
This place is a bunch of thieves they prayed on my wife not knowing anything about the special edition bc rich warbeast with the cream finish she brought in that had never even had the case open and only have her 200 for it after works I called multiple other vendors to see if they had just used her inexperience to steal from her and the consensus was that they should have ok the low end paid her 600 these people are scum that prey of those with not alot of knowledge in musical instrument and should be utterly ashamed!
You can usually tell if a business is run well by how they greet their customers. Music Go Round in Littleton offered me a much better price on my gear. Probably a decent place if you want to buy something from them.
They act like they don’t want me there, weird way to do business.Ive bought a guitar several pedals cases and strings there,as well as selling those things to them. Now the new people ignore me when I want to buy things or to inquire about it.I was going to buy a 2×12 speaker and boss delay,as the salesman was supposed to get the pedal out of the case, someone else came and started talking to him he and just talked to him and left me standing there. But it’s a good thing because they wanted $20 less for a model dd-6 than what I can get a dd-8 for brand new!
