Very helpful staff! They really took the time to explain my purchase options.
Went in the other day to get some ukulele strings. The lady at the counter was super friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!
Bernie was awesome as usual
Nice selection of music items. Was out of stock on what I was looking for my daughters clarinet.
Not a huge variety of guitars, maybe 20 guitars on the wall and most of them were similar models. Staff did not even acknowledge me during the 20 minutes I was in their building. Now being the only shop in town, it is time to step up their game.
Great place for all around music needs great knowledgeable staff
The two times I’ve been in there I’ve been completely ignored. They did welcome me in. But I stood at the counter waiting for the person to get off the phone. Which they were on for a good 25 minutes. Maybe I’m impatient idk. But I definitely wouldn’t have been treated like that by Bernie. He was so nice and encouraging. He always remembered me and said that I was talented and he enjoyed me and my brother coming in. This place just doesn’t do it for me. Going to Amazon from now on.
I ended up at brass reed. It was a more than pleasant experience. Just make sure they’re open before you drop In. I specifically needed stuff my guitar. They had everything I wanted and the guy working the counter took the time to ask me questions and actually help me.
The owner was very rude to me .Was completely unhelpful I’ll never go there again. He even insulted me
Went to the store to pick up some banjo picks and a music stand. Employee ignored me to stay on the phone talking about personal business. Then when he finally got off the phone two of his friends came in and again he ignored me to continue talking about personal business. When he finally acknowledged me he was very dismissive and was making it very obvious that I was interrupting him and his friends. I try to support local businesses but I guess from now on I’ll just order from online.
2. Brass Reed
Address: 2650 S Market St, Redding, CA 96001 , Shasta County , California , United States
Tom is a very friendly guy and helps out aspiring artists have a place to learn. The place has a pleasant “mom and pop store” mood.
Grand place. Has everything a musician might need. Dark and packed with vintage instruments it’s fun too look about in. Best place for school band instruments.
A small music shop with a very knowledgeable owner. Pricing is fair. If it were in a better location, 5 stars.
Excellent knowledgeable staff and quality work.
Very rude and does not support the military. My friend served in the Navy for 22 years and all he did was ask do you offer military discounts and the guy was super rude. Said everybody gets a discount. Doesn’t matter if you’re in the military. And it was the way he said it was so disrespectful. A Simple no would have been great. Most places offer one so he asked. Then treated him like dirt after that.
I was totally ignored. People were in the building and I heard someone working behind the counter but I couldn’t see them. I rang the bell several times and even called out but I was completely ignored. I had money in my pocket ready to buy and left with nothing.

really great, good atmosphere, the owner knows what hes talking about, he has great music taste
vinum sabbathi
Great staff friendly people
The owner and the employees always know what they are talking about, decent pricing, and guaranteed kindness. I 100% recommend this place.
Sheet music: Little to none
Quaint really fun record, movie, game shop. Everything from vinyls to cds, vhs to blue ray, and games and games systems all the way back to NES and earlier. They are even willing to buy sell and trade with you. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and friendly
Cool shop with a good selection of music. Retro games are pricey but that’s what to expect from a reseller these days. The games from the mid 90s back were limited. Good selection of 00’s forward.
No punk or metal whatso ever just greenday blink and some other mainstream stuff
Used to be a cool guy, lately bad pricing for items you are trying to sell. Offering less than GameStop prices, bad business. Would not recommend selling anything to this guy, sell your items on Facebook marketplace for double what he would have offered.
5. Sherlock Music Shop
Address: 210 High St ste. C, Mt Shasta, CA 96067 , Shasta County , California , United States
Only local (non corporate) music store. Super informant owner that loves talking amps and tone.
My saxophone was repaired there and it works wonderful now the shop is also a convenient place to get reeds, guitar strings, drumsticks basic items that you would need if you are a musician the shop also repairs amplifiers and guitars and other instruments.
We are lucky to have this guy in town. He really knows his stuff. Repaired a vintage sampler with new tact switches and cleaned it up nice, really went above and beyond on that project. He also fixed up my guitar with all new internals, new hardware, and polished up to look brand again, as well as setting up the action very nicely. He builds amps. He will make you instrument cables if you need a custom length. I’m very thankful I didn’t have to send my equipment out of town for repairs.
Guitar repair shop but I bought guitar strings .
Knows the music business.
Went in for strings and left with more notable
Owners kinda of an a hole woundnt order strings for us, only wanted to sell us what he had
Excellent business and both of the owners are friendly and helpful. They have really breathed life into this spot. Selection of merchandise is incredible from art to instruments and so much more!! We will definitely be repeat customers!!
It is so refreshing to have such a neat and vibrant store in town. The atmosphere is beautifully unique. The owners are kind and super helpful. I will be coming here A LOT throughout the summer!
Incredible new spot by Fratelli’s! It has great service, and looking around you can feel the care and excitement that’s gone into the shop! I love it, and I’ll definitely be back soon.
9. Redding Records & Music

Andrew was fantastic to do business with. Very pleased.
Sweet, sweet store full of so many records, tapes, laser discs, 8 tracks, 45’s, and audio equipment my mind literally stopped working and I immediately forgot what I already owned and what I was looking for , but I still managed to walk out with a ton of stuff . Seriously, excellent selection and the owner is super cool too
Much more than just an excellent record store. And Andrew is a good dude.
A wonderful place for music lovers.
The store is not bad for used CDs, a decent selection, and many are alphabetized for convenience. However, I don’t like the racks where the CDs are stored. Too hard to review the available selections. And the “new arrivals” section – massive and unsorted – screams “missed priority” to me – stop watching reruns of Curb Your Enthusiasm and sort the CDs into something you can sell.
Just my opinion…
Lots of selections
Terrible, terrible, terrible … My husband and I drove to Redding from a different town to sell them OLD vinyl records that had been sitting in an attic for years we even called them to ask if they would be interested and they seemed like they were interested but when we got there they didn’t even look at them and turned us away
Their selection is usually intriguing, but don’t bother asking to be on a “waitlist”, as rather than contact those who have requested records, it’s a first come first serve type of place. The guys in the store even stated, “you DID ask first but someone just called”….Would have been good to know in advance. You’re better off online. Then you get what you want, rather than not quite what you were after.
Highly recommend. My son really enjoys coming to class, it is fun and engaging!
Roman and his team are very accommodating and he is a patient instructor for beginners on drums and trumpet. They went out of their way to find an instrument to practice on and encouraged, corrected in a productive way. Thank you!
Student (Lily): I love my lessons. It’s so amazing because I learn so fast because he is such a good teacher. And I love that sometimes I can stay a little longer to play with the dogs!
Student’s mom: We were gifted our first few lessons and Lily and I have both enjoyed it so much that we are continuing. I have been really impressed with how attentive Roman is. He is an absolute natural with kids and very patient and enthusiastic. It’s awesome to see how engaged Lily is, he seems like a really great teacher.
13. Meteor Music

The best record store ever! And today is Rock’in Ron’s birthday. Happy Birthday Rock’in forever
If you’re into vinyl records of just about any genre and/or eclectic music collectibles, then this is the shop to go to. We enjoyed chatting with the owners about artists and also local issues. Their prices are really good and their return policies are more than fair. We try to stop in at least every couple of months when we’re in the area as there is always different inventory and we’ve found some real treasures in LP’s.
This place is a diamond in the rough. Old school record store, which is a rare find these days. It brings me back to my teenage days of Tower Records. If you live anywhere within 2 hours of Anderson, its worth the drive. The Vinyl selection AND the staff are top notch. There is no substitute for great service. I could keep going but I think you get the gist.
They have a huge selection, but when it comes to LPs I think it’s geared more towards the collector rather than the recreational listener.
